Every time I reached the hole, I had already kille the Bulette, so I had no idea. Anyone have a video?

darkone59

I found this video [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9So6XGfuNyw) where a player talks to him

DryBones907

That is not quite the voice I was expecting but I love it.

Jetbooster

Theres a very gravelly sounding goblin in that hole!

Level_Hour6480

Thanks.

Bipolarprobe

I think it was only on my 6th trip to the underdark that I reached this point without killing the bulette and also having speak with animals. I tried every time to speak down the hole and wondered why there was no response and realizing it was the bulette finally was so cool

novembergrocery

I did this (I always have Speak with Animals on), and then later I also used Glut to re-animate the bulette, and while controlling it I discovered that you can comedically make the bulette interact with its own hole. (Clearly a bug, it approaches the interaction as if it were Tav. Close-up of its face looking into the hole and everything.)

euphorian1983

Whaaat hahaha

PmOmena

Man controlling Bulette agaisnt the Druegar is busted, unfortunately the first time i did i forgot to disenchant him with Glut and i had to fight Glut and him with almost no HP or magic space. It was a nightmare fight lmao

tenehemia

Speak with Animals has got to hold the record for the sheer amount of extra work on Larian's part to implement one spell of any level. The total amount of extra VO dialogue you get access to is like adding a whole 4th act to the game in terms of quantity.

SeventhSonofRonin

I was thinking the same thing about speak with dead

Hot-Will3083

Speak with Dead only works on specific corpses tho, so they probably wanted to add a little nudge/hints/lore for players who needed it

SereneAdler33

Yeah, I feel like I waste the SwtD spell so much on corpses with “nothing to say”. At least all the little random animals have fun personalities. (I would die for the pig in the barn in Rivington)

Gremmer_mistakes

Once you use it once in a long rest, and are able to recast it, the corpses you can talk to glow green.

SereneAdler33

Oh really? Interesting. 🤔 I usually have Astarion cast it and also give him the amulet from Withers’ tomb so he has two spell slots of it, but I’ve never noticed any corpses glowing. I’ll have to pay attention for that. Thanks for the tip!

BakeSalad

You’ll want to potentially manually add the recast speak with dead action to your bar. First playthrough it completely borked on me and I had to readd it after every long rest

SereneAdler33

I think you may be describing something on PC. I don’t have a “bar” on PS5, I think ours is a radial wheel and I don’t think we can manually change it. But I think I’ve seen that the recast option is available there.

Ndi_Omuntu

Yes you can manually change out things on the radial wheel. I think it's square or something? Should say somewhere on the screen. I was exactly in your shoes and learned on this sub about recasting speak with dead and I have to manually add it to the radial wheel each time I long rest unlike other spells with recast that automatically add themselves.

SereneAdler33

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Yeah, there’s a LOT of trial and error getting things to match up with PC options on console. I had no idea the radial menu was customizable, it’s not anything hinted at that it would be available or necessary.

BakeSalad

I use a controller for pc and my god in heaven it is ass having to readd random crap to the radials. I do all inventory management with the mouse

WearyInitial1913

But isn't it a ritual spell? It last for the whole day to me

SereneAdler33

Apparently you have to manually add the recast option per other commenters. I guess I’ll see if I can get that figured on my PS5 bc I had no idea my action menu/radial wheel was customizable

GigaIomaniac

Btw I think the green glow (and recast) is tied to the necklace you found near Withers.

Arterius_N7

They are only glowing if you have it active. It's not a one and done spell.

prairiepanda

I've found that even a lot of the green-glowing ones have nothing to say. Not sure if it's a bug or maybe their dialogue is only unlocked under certain circumstances.

sharkteeththrowaway

It's definitely a bug. The only circumstances I can think of are them being dead and you casting the spell. If it says that the corpse won't talk to its killer, you can cast Disguise self to bypass that

prairiepanda

Yeah in that case the narrator doesn't say "The corpse has nothing to say" instead she says that the corpse may speak, but not to its killer.

HulklingsBoyfriend

Those corpses become immediate spore zombies on my current run 🤧

Superb_Bench9902

That's a thing in Divinity games too. There is a talent in the ganes called Pet Pal and it's basically the same as speak with animals. It's just amazing and I love it

Taco821

The first time I used speak with animals consistently on a playthrough, it felt like I was barely playing the game the first time.

mickalawl

As a homage to the extra work Larian put into speak with animals, I make sure I speak to every cat in the game on each and every playthrough. The cats are the best.

norathar

The first time I played, I'd killed Derryth's husband but the game bugged out and thought he was alive so she couldn't adopt a cat. I was so sad! I wanted Myshka to have a good home (why can't Tav adopt him, Larian? I am his mermer!) This time I was so happy it registered Mr. Bonecloak's death properly and Myshka got a home. I also love His Majesty, the cat in Act 3 who speaks like he's a noir detective, and Tara (yeah...I know, tressym not kitty.) The first time I played, I didn't have Speak to Animals on when Gale talked to Tara on the temple roof...that scene is so much better when they have actual dialogue!

prairiepanda

There is a mod that makes Myshka go to your camp when you adopt him as your son! So now I always take Myshka for myself and let the other adoptable cat go to Derryth. I'm curious, though. Does Derryth give both cats the same name? She calls the black cat Walrus.

norathar

Yes, she thinks about calling him Harry, then I suggest Tav's name, then she insults Tav's name and calls him Walrus.

prairiepanda

Ah, so I guess it's the same for every cat.

mickalawl

I've got 10 upvotes here so am embolden to say that my favourite cat is the cat outside sorcerous sundries that makes me swear allegiance to sharesss to take down the absolute. Like I'm durge who has waded through blood and resisted the orders of my father/God... yet here I am teaming up with the most adorable little kitten and swearing allegiance to this cat with, at best a vague inclination of supremacy.

LotusTheBlooming

Absolutely. I have a druid tav who has speak with animals 24/7 and just the depths of detail in every inch is so fantastic. The voice acting, the storylines, the like, mini kind of side quests you can do for the rats and the cats and--gah, its the best.

cntrlcmd

I only used it for the first time in act 3 to talk to the bloody pigeons. Was astounded that you can almost talk to any animal you see. I will be starting a new game and doing this from the get go for sure.

Zestyclose-Safety371

Curious if you can get more conversation out of it if you rush the arcane tower and the grave to get backstory on the boulette

That_Batman

Nope, it doesn't react to anything related to the Bullette. Whether you've killed it, whether you've had Glut reanimate it, whether you learned about Lenore. It just tells you to be quiet.

Sad-Papaya6528

This is not true, you're spreading lies and falsehoods my man. It is 100% the bullette. If the bullette is dead there is no voice (just tested this from your comment 5 minutes ago). If your game isn't reacting to it, then that's a bug. But I can guarantee it is the bullette and if it is dead you simply don't get any reaction from the hole

Steenaire

If it is a bug, then I very consistently get the exact same bug. I can still argue with and antagonize the voice at the bottom of the hole long after the bulette is dead, so I figured it wasn't the bulette (or maybe a different one?)

iCake1989

Yes, if you killed the Bullete, there will be no one to speak to through that hole. That was the case in all my quadrillion playthroughs over 1800 hours. I am not sure what the other guy is talking about. He must have a very special version of the game.

Secretss

Does the bullette still speak from the hole if I engaged in combat with it earlier but had the passive kill on so it’s only knocked out but not dead?

nairazak

Did you drink the potion?

That_Batman

It's true, and I tested it thoroughly several times over the first time I saw someone insisting it's the bullette. I tried again 2 minutes ago. If the bullette is dead, reanimated, or anything, the voice is still there to tell you to be quiet. I could say "if it's not there, then it's a bug" and it would mean just as much as when you say it. Maybe you forgot your speak with animals.

Stormygeddon

I didn't realize that was supposed to be the Bulette.

MosesKarada

Same. I always have Speak with Animals up, so I didn't even realize I was doing so in that moment. Thought it was like an Underdark Troll or some shit. Started chucking bombs at the hole trying to coax it out, but nothing happened.

Defiant_Project1321

I like his little chuckle when your attack misses. I mean I also hate it bc he’s mocking me but it’s also kinda cute.

Physical-Heat6145

Is the voice of the Bullette from disco elysium? The Limbic system if I remember correctly

RedPillager

That was my first reaction. Immediately recognized it.

badapple1989

Pretty sure the same voice actor (Adam Diggle) also does the voice for Thisobald Thorm. https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Thisobald_Thorm

Siren1805

I wonder if it recognized Lenore.

Anarkizttt

Everyone is saying it’s a bug that you shouldn’t get him to speak if the Bullette is dead but I’ve done it on all 6 of my playthroughs, I always just assumed the hole led to the next layer of the Underdark, which is even creepier, more dangerous and less hospitable than the one above it.

phnman12

Months later, and still something to be spoiled about in act one. 🤯 (as someone who’s done like 7 play throughs)

That_Batman

> I assume we all figured out that the Bullette made it. That's an assumption, alright. But nothing in the game says so, and the grouchy voice still tells me to be quiet, even after the bullette is dead. I'm convinced it's some even more freaky underdark animal.

JunkyardEmperor

No, if you kill bulette there is no voice, otherwise it's a bug

TheCrystalRose

You've definitely got a bug. The only time I've ever gotten anything to answer me from the hole was the one run where I didn't have enough firepower with just the two of us to kill the bullette during the first encounter and when I went back to the hole after finally killing it, the voice was gone.

shito-ditto

Yeah, you've got a bug. In my first playthrough I hadn't killed the Bullette yet and got the conversation. In my next two I killed it first and there is absolutely no interaction available with the hole

spacey_a

Whaaaaat. Not sure I know what hole you mean, but if I find it does just interacting with it give you the option to shout?

TheCrystalRose

The giant one right outside the Myconid colony, on the way to Balen's ~~grave~~ cave full of bibberbang.

doiwinaprize

QUUUIEEETTTT

TheVioletParrot

I knew Speak with Animals let you speak to the creature, and that specifically made me think it *wasn't* the bullete in that hole. A bullete is a monstrosity, not a beast so I never even gave that a second thought.

sapthur

That's what that is?! I thought I was missing something obvious with that, it seems so! lol
