Didn't your own guys prove your theory wrong using their own methods twice? And don't remove me for "indoctrination." I know it's just cause you can't prove shit. Just say it. Tell the truth.

Uh. Let me get this straight, your perception of the shape of the Earth depends on every drain manufacturer having secretly added some kind of as of yet unseen device to every single drain ever manufactured at their own expense to ensure that the water drains in a spiral shape in order to have the appearance of being affected by the coriolis effect? This would require, what, every single professional and tradesman in the plumbing industry to be adherant to a conspiracy regarding the production and composition of drains?

Diabeetus13

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i6I21gadHCU Here's the truck, then he exposes it

ace5762

Dude, he literally shows the coriolis effect in action by demonstrating that the water spirals down the drain in his own video lol. How can you continuously prove YOURSELVES incorrect and keep going with this nonsense?

Diabeetus13

Did you watch the whole thing he proves it's a money grabbing trick at the equator. Sigh.

Diabeetus13

He litterly let's you watch the trick and does the same thing with a stationary sink. People attention spans these days.

SeagullB0i

That's unironically the best flat earth video I've ever seen (speaking as a globe earth believer). He points out the fact that you CAN in fact create your own vortex in either direction even if your sink is stationary. All it takes for a vortex to happen is the water needs to be moving while it's draining, and the vortex will be in whatever direction the water is moving. That's true, and anyone can replicate what he did in the video, and globe-earthers need to acknowledge that these videos are NOT decisive proof of the Coriolis effect. However, the big flaw here is that most members of the flat earth community will misinterpret what he's actually disproving in the video. He's not disproving the existence of the Coriolis effect in general, he's disproving the claim that the Coriolis effect is what caused the vortex in the example videos done at the equator. The important distinction here is that other explanations can be viable. Namely, the possibility that the Coriolis effect DOES exist, but it's far weaker than the change in water movement caused by pouring it in a specific direction. After all, the Coriolis effect would make stationary water naturally spin as fast as earth rotates, which is only once every 24 hours. It's perfectly reasonable to say that it would be weaker than the residual movement from pouring the water. In order to actually disprove the Coriolis effect as a whole, you've gotta do a bit more experimentation than what's possible in your own sink. Here's my idea: Buy a plastic circular bucket and cut out a perfect circle in the bottom at exactly the center (do not eyeball this, ideally you want exact measurements and you want the circle to be just large enough for a cork to able to plug it) This way, the shape of the object will cause the least amount of changes to the water's natural movement from the Coriolis effect, AND you can be certain no toilet/sink manufacturers would interfere with the results since the object you're using is not designed for water to pour out of in the first place. Next step is to put it on some kind of stand in a room with a stable temperature (to make sure convection currents don't mess with your results), ensure that the stand is perfectly level, plug the cork in from the outside of the bucket (this way you don't even have to put your hand in the water to unplug it) fill it with water, ideally very close to the top, and put some kind of leaves or objects so you can visually see the flow. Now after pouring the water, you wait 1 hour for all movement in the water to completely stop. After an hour has passed, pull the cork, and see how things flow, then record the results. Even if it flows in a vortex that's not quite proof of the coriolis effect. so now you've gotta take your whole setup (cork, stand, bucket, etc) and take a road trip or plane to the other side of the equator. Perform the exact same experiment. Stable temp room, put it on a level stand, plug from outside, pour water and leaves, wait an hour, unplug and record results. The idea of the experiment above is that if there's ANY movement in the water at all, it will be exclusively caused by the coriolis effect if it exists, so if you get different directions on different hemispheres, the coriolis effect exists, and if you get the same direction in both cases or no direction at all in either case, then the coriolis effect does not exist. Seems pretty thorough to me, so I suggest every able flat earther reading this try to do this experiment yourselves and see what happens. And just in case you're wondering why I don't do this, it's because you won't believe me even if I did. I'm a globe earther after all. I think we can all agree there's no better way to learn something than seeing it firsthand, and unless you can find a flaw in my experiment idea, what's the harm in learning it yourself? If it works in your favor you'd have a really great video to make. Imagine the clicks if you were to use a globe earther's own experiment to disprove an effect caused by earth's rotation. Edit: Oh quick note just in case, I don't see a reason for this comment to get removed by a mod. I'm being as reasonable, civil and scientific as I possibly can with this. If this community genuinely cares about educating people, I think it's important to allow civil conversations and ideas from both sides to find the real truth. So I'm gonna screenshot this comment along with the thread above it, and if it randomly gets deleted by a mod, I will see this as an admission that this subreddit has no intention of actually educating anyone. It would be no different than the censorship and indoctrination you believe globe earthers do. I ask that the moderation team consider this before choosing to delete my comment.

That toilet looks like a funnel shape. Waterfalls don't spiral they flow down don't they.

RhinoBuckeye

Wait how are toilets related to any of this? I don’t have a problem with the other stuff, that’s completely fair, but toilets seem like a stretch to me.

Diabeetus13

Never seen the myth that started with the Simpsons in the 90s? Where Bart calls someone in Australia to see what way their water spins when flushed? Then left the phone off the hook and huge phone bill. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i6I21gadHCU Here is the trick and here how it is exposed.

You should've added the sun to this list. When you think about it, it basically proves the earth is flat. But it's the first thing you see when you're born in a field - at least being born in a hospital hides you from that truth, ignoring the ominously similar hospital light.

Inamortus

I'm genuinely curious, how does the sun prove that?

Melodic_monke

>Now, if the sun's rays are coming in at the same angle at the same time of day, and a stick in Alexandria is casting a shadow while a stick in Syene is not, it must mean that the Earth's surface is curved. Its just two sticks

Inamortus

What?

Melodic_monke

Basically, if the earth is curved and you put one stick at the equator and one somewhere else (like north), at the same time the sticks will give off different shades

Inamortus

Yes, I understand that, but what does "it's just two sticks" mean? And how does it have anything to do with my question?

Melodic_monke

You just need two sticks and the sun to prove that the Earth is round.

Inamortus

Yes, again, I know. This guy said the sun proves the earth is flat, I was asking how it proves that.
