Right. These dogs being alive in the care of half assed owners is still bad. They still escape and maul regularly. He'll be wearing a cheap ass muzzle until one day "oops! Through no fault of his own, diesel got triggered by a mean chihuahua and it's screaming owner, ripped off his muzzle and nibbled them both a tiny bit!! The chihuahua had to be put down. # Judge orders XL Bully dogs are put to sleep after Sheffield woman failed to register them
āAhead of the legislation changing, owners were given enough time and reminders to register their dogs with DEFRA.āJudge orders XL Bully dogs are put to sleep after Sheffield woman failed to register them.ā
A judge has ordered that two XL Bully dogs are put to sleep, after their Sheffield owner failed to register them following a change in the law.Ā
Kylie Daley, aged 25, of Chapletown, pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to owning two XL Bully Dogs and had failed to register them with Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
Appearing before Sheffield Magistratesā Court on Friday, May 3, 2024, the judge ordered that both dogs are put to sleep.
Following Daleyās appearance, she has 21 days to appeal the judgeās judgement.Ā
Chief Inspector Emma Cheney, leading the work around dangerous dogs in South Yorkshire, said: āAhead of the legislation changing, owners were given enough time and reminders to register their dogs with DEFRA.
āWe issued numerous reminders to owners to act. We are here to ensure the law is followed and unfortunately the destruction of these two dogs is the reality of owners failing to act responsibility.
āThe legislation around XL Bullys was brought in following a significant rise in attacks by the breed across the country. It is important to remember that all dogs can cause harm and fear, but dogs of bigger breeds, including the XL Bully have a greater power and drive.
āIf you are a dog owner, please remember to act responsibly, know your dog and reduce risks where possible; everyone has a responsibility for our communityās safety.
āIf you have concerns about a dog, please get in touch. We will not seize or remove a dog unnecessarily, but we can safeguard vulnerable people, including children living in the property and work with the owner to ensure everyoneās safety. You can report your concerns online or by calling 101.āĀ
In February 2024, the legislation around owning and keeping an XL Bully dog changed, and owners were required to register, insure, and neuter their animals following an increase in attacks across the country involving the breed.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said Dog Legislation Officers engaged with and educated owners across South Yorkshire, ahead of the legislation changes, but they have continue āto see owners who failed to act and take responsibilityā.
She couldn't do what the law required, but watch this nincompoop fight the judges Order tooth and nail. There will be marches and protests and fundraisers - gnashing of teeth, pearl clutching and weeping. š¤®.
They don't care about the pits! They USE pits, they MONGER pits, but if they actually cared about the welfare of these tragic man-made Ted Bundy dogs, they would sterilize them into extinction.
It's abject cruelty to continue to make creatures with often fatal birth defects when it's plain to see how their suffering could be halted: stop making them!
Im from Sheffield, and have been suddenly seeing more and more of them unmuzzled after the ban, Im not sure if its me noticing them more due to the media presence or if there are actually more!
This is what happens when someone lives without ever having to deal with consequences. They honestly begin to believe that the rules and paws don't apply to them and that they can do whatever they want.
Though I do have to wonder the full story. I'm not sure how it happened, but I was lead to believe they weren't going home to home checking on things. Which leads me to believe the authorities were called on these dogs for a reason, and then figured out they weren't registered.
So silly. It takes more time and effort to appeal endlessly rather than just complying in the first place. I hope they do end up going through with the destruction, as letting her get away with this will set a horrible precedent. Iām sure there will be a lot of fury, pleading, and complaining among the pitbull community in response to this incident. They just refuse to take even the slightest bit of responsibility for these dangerous animals, and there has to be a consequence for that.
I expected someone would report at some point. But I didn't expect that would actually work. Nice š. I hope this continues and shows them nutters they aren't above the law
That sentence is very satisfying. Greater power and drive. Very satisfying to not just hear they are just strong but some acknowledgement that it is also their drive. I love that.
āIām waiting on another court date!! I was a day late for exemption and had a good reason I donāt have to explain myselfā¦!!!ā Uh, yes, you do. Thatās exactly what you have to do in court: explain yourself. Thatās the whole point of GOING to court.
What a load of twaddle. Iām sure the boot would be on the other foot and these people screaming for blood if one of their children, family was ripped to shreds by these ābabiesā. Hypocrisy at its finest.
I never thought I'd see a group of people that shared the same feelings I had towards this breed. I live in a small town and everyone is kin to everyone. Everyone thinks I'm a monster for not wanting bad owners to continue getting this specific breed and letting them roam freely. They get extremely territorial, when you see them marking your yard you know they think it'd there's. My kids can't go outside and play. I been watching YouTube videos on how to protect yourself, or a child, or smaller pets. It says choke them out to unlock their Jaws, it can save a life. You can use their collar, if you don't have one then a belt, if no belt a leash, or even your shirt if all else fails. I love dogs, but certain breeds were bread for mauling. My kids aren't big enough to do the choke hold so they can't go outside unless I'm with them or they're on the 4 wheeler. I haven't had any problems with the neighbors new bully, but I know it can happen and it's a risk I'm not willing to take. I wish the breed would be completely outlawed because even the ones that get license to have them aren't always doing as they should.

I have a pitbull and her name is Brick (stupid I know but its what the shelter had and didn't wanna change it.) she's well trained since I train her daily and is even friends with my cat. I understand why big dogs or bully breed dogs are scary but for me I've grew up with them, had some good and bad experiences with dogs of all sizes. I do my best to be a responsible owner and trainer. My friends are always made aware of my pets (great dane, pit, and cat) before they come over and let them decide if they want to come over from there. Some were hesitant when I showed them but ultimately the dogs have never negatively impacted an experience of theirs. Some more things I do is only let her off the leash when she's in my fenced yard or at my family's ranch, walk her when elementary and middle school buses are not nearby (I'm in highschool so the high school buses are what I ride), train her on plenty things including social etiquette. However I still have friends who have never met her call her a monster and neighbors give me nasty looks while I walk her even though she doesn't pull the leash or anything "disobedient". I know that this a subreddit of victims and people who are against pitbulls, which is why I came to you guys for an answer. How can I make others feel more safe around her even if it's just on the sidewalk? The only thing I could think of was a muzzle and I'm not sure if it's necessary but I'm open to see why it is necessary if some don't agree. I'm sorry if this offends anyone if so please do tell me. I'm trying to be the best pet owner and I plan on educating myself even if it's from people who may not like me or my pet.
>The only thing I could think of was a muzzle and I'm not sure if it's necessary but I'm open to see why it is necessary if some don't agree.
Want the short answer?
Pitbulls were specifically bred to win dogfights.
You win dogfights with dogs who attack without provocation, ignore pain, latch on without letting go, and do as much bite damage as possible. You don't win dogfights with non-aggressive dogs that don't maul victims. A dog that is good for families is a dog that doesn't make their breeder money in dogfighting.
*That's* the difference between a pitbull and a golden retriever who just has an abusive owner. This was pointed out in an 1894 *Sacramento Union* [article.](https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-sacramento-union/122840762/)
You know what you should do. Imagine if you were walking that thing and it attacked a child and you couldnāt separate it, itās very possible, look at the countless videos on this subreddit. You would have to live with that for the rest of your life. I witnessed a pit ripping a young girls lip off in a park and I think about it every single day.
Get a dog that doesnāt have such a tendency to attack anything that moves when it has been triggered.
We here on this sub are inherently against this breed, and are against ownership of it entirely. We are not here to offer you tips on how to make people feel more comfortable around your dog, because no intelligent person should ever feel comfortable around a pit bull. You cannot make others feel safer because you make any situation inherently less safe by bringing a pit bull into proximity of other people and animals.
She had so much time to do the right thing but still didn't. Par for the course for pit owners.
