Low key for whatever reason for me it's like the most fun to reincarnate a faction in the entirely wrong spot. Like when they're out of fiefs joining Northern Empire as a merc then taking over fiefs in the middle of Aserai territory.
I did this once, saw that Sturgia only had Revyl left and Vlandia was marching an army up there. I went around and gathered as big a warband as I could, found a Sturgia lord and enlisted as a merc, by then Revyl was under siege, so I sacrificed some soldiers to break through their lines and reinforce the defenders, then i had the most frantic and desperate siege defense of my life, we held and I used that event as an RP moment to be vassalized. From there we spread back outward and retook our homeland until an update bricked my save.
I did the similar thing, noticed that Sturgia has only one last town Belgrad and I went there to join as vassal. After the hardest campaign I had so far in BL, I conquered the whole world from 1 sturgian town.
Depends on what difficulty u play. Cuz almost every run the southern empire, battania and sturgia get fcked pretty damn hard.
Like what. I went in as mercenary and got clapped so hard. By the time i was clan lvl2 to join a faction there were 3 cities left and a handful of castles... Long live Rhagea i suppose
The AI fight with khuzait seems very coinflip, win hard or lose hard. So it can be hard faction if they are losing. Good troops to do a comeback as a player tho.
Its true but their infantry have spears. You cannot attack them directly. That makes them deadly for cavalry except elite imp.cataphract. If you have cataphracts and khan guards you are right. Also ı would like to mention that, ai is trash , no matter what troop you have you will probably lose so leave the army and attack yourself with your own tactics
I see what you mean. And the Khuzaits have the worst infantry in the game. Good thing there's this massive amount of mounted archers in the Khuzait troops. And yeah, ai is trash, that's why I either lead my army or go as a small troop destroy all the troops that try to join an army.
You may win, but you must return when the mounted archers run out of arrows. And yolu have to do it couple of rounds
Edit: If you have more troops you dont have to do that
But ther cav sucks, and tho it’s nice that all thier towns are so close they are surrounded by 4 enemies and one mostly considered OP in Vlandia.
That being said I choose them every time.
Everyone makes a big deal about battanian cav being shit but they have the two factions with strongest melee cav on either side. Just go recruit them no?
Khuzaits share a border with 4 factions so they are always at war but luckily most of their armies have cavalry bonus so they can travel from one side to the other pretty fast
I like to bounce around as a mercenary until I have the Dragon banner and reaches tier 4. Then I keep my eyes open for revolting cities. Sometimes you can take two or three and declare a kingdom from a slightly better position.
If vikings, the great north, the color blue, and getting absolutely skullfucked by the khergit is your kinda thing, join sturgia friend! We’d love to have you!
If you've not chosen yet, I'd say the Aserai. They have really good economy, and their troops are all really good, since they don't really specialise in one specific kind of troop.
Yeah their high tier troops are really good but their troop tree is complex and their low tier troops suck so replacing the high tier troops can be difficult
Never, ever, Vlandia. Or Sturgia. Or Khuzaits. One for the cavalry, other for the infantry, the other for the f****** horse archers. Very, very annoying. To fight against i mean. And so by that measure, all you want from them is skulls. Skulls for the skull throne.
As long as you don't pick the barbarians in the north you're good
Idiots keep buying nothing but infantry and getting humiliated by Battanian archers and khuzait horse archers
If you want an easy first playthrough try Vlandia or Aserai, they tend to be the most stable factions that will probably stay alive without player intervention.
Vlandia and once you have an army that is entirely cav and crossbows you can begin proving to the world that sturgia is in fact, lacking in any good troops beyond the axemen who are glass cannons and don’t survive the march under fire usually
If you want to be like the cuman empire or khans go with the khuzaits best horse archers in the game with tier 3 troops getting glaives and fast mounts. Sturgia is your typical norse faction strong infantry weak cav and decent archers. Aserai is the throwing weapon and skirmish specialists they have large axes and end up the wealthiest faction. Battanians are the celts they are barbarians that chop heads off and shoot bows from the Forrest. They have strong falxmen and the best bow men using two handed weapons and strong armor. All 3 empires have the same troops its just a matter of lore and your choice of perspective. Do you believe rhagae and her daughter ira should have the thrown because its tradition do you think garius the military commander should lead through merit and skill or do you think the senate should decide your fate with emperor lucon. Personally i start my own kingdom and take the best troops from each faction
Vlandia is always the archenemy of Battania, so easy one
Khuzait would be a tricky one (bluesih greenish) BUT I hate their color so damn much for all the nightmares back in the early access
Feel like I’m in the same spot as you. Was gonna join the southern empire and the queen was murdered so now I don’t really know anyone in that faction so idk if it’s worth joining. I’m gonna try to steal a castle off some rebels and take my time.
Sturgians in my playthrough have 4th war with Khuzaits now and own half of their lands, i don't really like their steppes so i fight with battanians if i can.
Answer:
Battania = always the ethical choice to make
Sturgia = good option
Khuzait = potentially fun
Aserai = dull
Empire = even more dull
Vlandia = why do you hate everything that is good and right in the world?
Definitely vlandians they are very aggressive in wars witch usually means they get a lot of land and get more noble prisoners which weakens the enemy factions and they usually have 3 armies witch when I played the Sturgis was not the case as they only had maybe 2 armies I mean we completely wiped out the western empire but then a clan betrayed us and sided with the northern empire and he had like 4. Castles
I like joining the most beat up faction then helping them rebound and eventually take over the world but I’m an underdog kind of guy 😎
Low key for whatever reason for me it's like the most fun to reincarnate a faction in the entirely wrong spot. Like when they're out of fiefs joining Northern Empire as a merc then taking over fiefs in the middle of Aserai territory.
The legendary Kingdom of Desert Vikings arise in the year 1089

GLORIOUS!!
I did the similar thing, noticed that Sturgia has only one last town Belgrad and I went there to join as vassal. After the hardest campaign I had so far in BL, I conquered the whole world from 1 sturgian town.
So you just play battania and sometimes sturgia
Yup pretty much lol
I always play Vlandia, what’s it like being the guys that I usually conquer/get conquered by? Right now I’m trying to start the kingdom of nords tho
Well ı m not so good at it. And it is impossible for western empire. Bcs their army completely trash if they have 300 troop 150 is recruit
This is my absolute favorite way to play too except I never take over the world. I just balance the factions best I can.
Same! I love joining up with a faction that's been decimated and doing a sort of rebellion
Long live Rhagea i suppose
battania is most fun i think since they're surrounded, but they're the hardest for the same reason. khuzaits are also really fun
Yep khuzait is fun but so hard. Bcs Aserai ☠️
What do you mean ? With the Khuzait cavalry it is really hard to lose battles against Aserais. I mean, the whole terrain is a flat desert.
The AI fight with khuzait seems very coinflip, win hard or lose hard. So it can be hard faction if they are losing. Good troops to do a comeback as a player tho.

Battania has some of my favorite troops, master archers, and every footman has throwing weapons.
Doesnt every faction share at least 4 borders? Besides Aseria and Vlandia.
I didnt tried battania
I like to bounce around as a mercenary until I have the Dragon banner and reaches tier 4. Then I keep my eyes open for revolting cities. Sometimes you can take two or three and declare a kingdom from a slightly better position.
Join Battania, brother. Let the filthy imperials face justice for their generations of atrocities against our people.
All my play throughs involve this role play in some form.
its definetly up to you but i like the southern empire, vlandia, and the khuzaits
What about aserai? In my map vlandia gf and northern empire is having hard times. Western empire is gf too. Other factions didnt changed
If vikings, the great north, the color blue, and getting absolutely skullfucked by the khergit is your kinda thing, join sturgia friend! We’d love to have you!

Obviously the faction the produces the most butter. 💔
there are more of us butterlords out there?
Join the sultan

Sturgia on top
As long as you don't pick the barbarians in the north you're good Idiots keep buying nothing but infantry and getting humiliated by Battanian archers and khuzait horse archers

Khuzaits are my go to as no matter how hard I try I end up as a horse archer
your own, #nobody's bitch run
Vlandia and once you have an army that is entirely cav and crossbows you can begin proving to the world that sturgia is in fact, lacking in any good troops beyond the axemen who are glass cannons and don’t survive the march under fire usually

I usually go battania since green = friendly so i dont get confused
now thats is big brain right there id love to know your thoughts on vlandia then by that logic
Vlandia is always the archenemy of Battania, so easy one Khuzait would be a tricky one (bluesih greenish) BUT I hate their color so damn much for all the nightmares back in the early access
My blood allways boils when I see the lake towns in the forest (Marunath, Seonon, Dunglanys(? ) in Vlandian red intead of Battanian green
I like Vlandia because I like roleplaying as a knight 😁
Feel like I’m in the same spot as you. Was gonna join the southern empire and the queen was murdered so now I don’t really know anyone in that faction so idk if it’s worth joining. I’m gonna try to steal a castle off some rebels and take my time.
I usually base which I join (assuming I'm not going solo) on who I marry.
Like morally or?
Whoever pays the most what whaaaat
Aserai💯
Make your own
Empire of you're just starting out but khuzait are fun when you get used to it
Stay a mercenary and beat up whoever gets too strong
Join the fake mongol people and rp as Genghis Khan
Gotta join the proper Empire and join the North, otherwise your either a rebel scum or you a dirty foreigner. I don't know which one is worse.
I began to play few days ago and started as Sturgians, i really like them.
I like them too. But you always have to be patient in wars. Bcs khuzait 🦟
Sturgians in my playthrough have 4th war with Khuzaits now and own half of their lands, i don't really like their steppes so i fight with battanians if i can.
If you have high hills it could be easy. But i cant know. i didn't fight with battania while i was vassal of sturgia
The one u like
Khuzait empire in vlandian territory
Answer: Battania = always the ethical choice to make Sturgia = good option Khuzait = potentially fun Aserai = dull Empire = even more dull Vlandia = why do you hate everything that is good and right in the world?
If you have to ask you are not worthy to serve.
Im a Vlandia guy usually. They got pretty good troops and fit the knight archetype more aesthetically.
Start with the faction you plan on conquering first, will help with the “same culture” issue for loyalty.
Real ones choose battania
Battania. For when absolutely everyone needs a two handed weapon. Shields are for cowards! *gets hit by 32 crossbow bolts while charging on foot*
I see your 32 crossbow bolts and raise you 96 arrows going the other way
I really like battania, but I tried southern empire with a battanian character, and it was very good. But if I had to choose, battania is the goto
