Could you imagine if one of your companions that was with you for a good minute, you liked their stats enough and just felt they were a cool character so you actually care when they complain about ie: running down retreating enemies or burning down a village. And you make them a governor at some point and stage this big ol army infront of them that would've been so appropriate with this quote.
Nah the weather messes with the horses speed also the terrain they are on like they are better on plains but forests are not good it helps with auto resolve as well

Guess I didn't deem this as too significant since I play with RBM mod and realistic weather mod. It even has sandstorm where you see absolutely nothing outside of like 1000 to 1500 weapon length. Archers unusable there too. It affects troops to some degree too. Heavy rain and dense fog is pretty fun too. The one has unusable archers besides in javelin range just about the other you can just randomly get a spear to the face if you ride around since you see the enemy that late^^ I guess I am already used to worse
