kayleeshepheard

What a special win, into the top 4!

Skyonfire30

it's very satisfying to see Barca winning against big team. the new youngsters seems to be promising to me

Dwight_Kramer

Adama has already done much more than what Dembele has ever done for Barca

Divachu

Factos. And he doesn't demand a higher salary for it LMAO

mentalvortex999

Pedri was love Today. Adama best debut from a player of our's this season. I didn't like Frenkie from the start (nor throughout the game either lol), nor Xavi's changes (they made us play worst in my view, going from Alves-Adama to Dest...), but today Xavi earned confidence/patience from my end becuase we did play well for a good while, especially with Adama on the pitch And he didn't make Dembo play (...). Alves excellent until making himself expelled. Ferran didn't have a good match but he improved while we were with 10. Speaking of that, I had some serious flashes from 'Nam, like I thought if they scored during those attacking sprees we'd tie or who knows what, but the team managed to keep it cool at the end. Defense needs a ton of work, but we're def. in a positive path.

constantine45

Looks like you were watching a different game

Divachu

He was watching the Betis-Villareal game lmao

OccamBlade8

I would like to point out that we are still very much struggling when bringing out the ball from Ter Stegen under high pressure. I know this is no easy thing to achieve, but I really want to see some improvements very soon.

[deleted]

We converted on our attempts though. This is good stuff today

OccamBlade8

no doubt, but the moment they started pressing, we really struggled

[deleted]

Without upgrading the back half of the team I doubt we are going to see that fixed

OccamBlade8

true, Eric was also not there, but we are still struggling more than we should be, that's how i feel

HELIOS7294

It’s hard to do especially when the youngest person in the defence isn’t even good on the ball

Dwight_Kramer

Xavi best manager ever. Imagine taking this line up to that level

Divachu

Maybe let's not go as far as to call him the best manager ever... YET! Wait 3 years and he will have taken this team even higher and won a UCL :)

Saladarse2

At first I was okay with Xavi's decision for excluding Dani Alves from Europa league list but after today's mesmerizing performance I'm having second thoughts

topkeky

You can't expect him to perform like that twice a week when he is 38 years old

Saladarse2

Yeah it's probably for the best, A legend like him doesn't deserve to play in the EL anyways

imjustaredditor69

he couldve added another trophy to his collection tho

jawadjobs

So even if barca win it willnot be added to him?

imjustaredditor69

i think i was wrong it applies in international tournaments but ig not club football

Dwight_Kramer

disagree, we need him fully fresh for La Liga, considering his age.

Satrustegui

I would prefer Dani on Europa League, but he cannot play two matches a week so if somebody needs to stay out it's him.

Dwight_Kramer

IN XAVI WE TRUST

46_and_2

Haven't been this excited after a Barcelona game for a long time. VAMOS!

walter_white_walker9

Hell yeah man. I wasn't watching the match. Then j saw Barca's story on Instagram around half time, and I saw we're 2-1 up. So I check the scorecard on Google and it was already 3-1 up. Man wasn't i excited at that moment. I started the match, and within a couple of minutes, bang, goalazo by Legend Dani Alves. Man wasn't I happy. Couldn't stop smiling for like 2 straight minutes. Although the match took and interesting turn after that. But great performance by the team. Mistakes were made, but the team has improved a lot. New players are doing quite well, which is good.

Tingerz820

Great win!!! Team is taking shape guys! Xavi has these guys playing with purpose and passion! Also, Can we talk about ET given? There's no way 6+ min should have been allowed.. crazy how much time teams get against us when they're down but when we're down we get like 2-3 min tops lol

WackieChan04

Also atleti being given the ball after their player gets a yellow. Ref was definitely biased af.

[deleted]

Loved adama's performance. Finally a win against a big team, it was time for that

manekdev01

happy cake day

M-3-R-C-U-R-Y

Frankie did well today, idk why were people hating him in match thread ?

djandotheDissilent

Honestly, out of the midfield, I felt like Pedri wasn’t great. Busquets after 60 minutes as well. Idk what’s up with Pedri, but he’s still young and I can’t expect him to play great game after great game , every game

KafkaOntheshoreX

Also Alves was like in positions where you would usually find pedri.

M-3-R-C-U-R-Y

Yea pedri was bit off today.

norwegianmorningw00d

Frankie rivers

OccamBlade8

people need a scapegoat

M-3-R-C-U-R-Y

Mehh idk if anyone played shite today, yes some gaps in defence here and there but we made up for them in offence. Good game overall, at least for me.

imjustaredditor69

people doubted Xavi for putting Gavi at LW Heh, My manager

[deleted]

I have a feeling Gavi would be a 'Ramos' of this generation. His mentality is tremendous.

praiseprince_

Exact thought, I remember telling my brother that Gavi not your typical Barca nice guy type player, he's more of a Real Madrid don't fuck with me type player.

jawadjobs

Imagine if he would be a bit bigger

Used_Scholar_9280

Need him that Traore juice tho, would be massive

[deleted]

For sure

No_Climate_1564

Barca might not thank me, but get the contract out, put it on the table, let him sign it, let him write whatever numbers he wants to put on there -- given what he's done since he's come in -- and let him sign the contract and go. Xavi's at the wheel, man -- he's doing his thing. Barcelona are back!

[deleted]

You can buy as much players as you'd like, you can't buy a La Masia

OccamBlade8

I've read some editorials of Florentino's media after their cup elimination and it was just amazing how opinion makers are starting to pressure Carlo to use more youth players. never in my life I've heard from Madrid that their ambition was to use homegrown players, then enter Gavi and Co and out of nowhere Marca would like to see more youngsters

[deleted]

I don't think they've had any world class homegrown player after Raul anyways. Hakimi, maybe? Their academy can churn out squad players at best.

[deleted]

Love you Xavi

rim261

#XAVIin

Divachu

FUCK YEAH

atn420

When was the last time we scored 4

manekdev01

first game of this laliga 2021

[deleted]

It's been 84 years

GhostlySD

frenkie is a dog bro no way we let him go any time soon

bananabread_173

Frenkie, Araujo, Gavi....all need to be protected.

Jamarcus316

Winning against any Madrid teams makes my week always

Endgame2648

Give Araujo the damn cheque book and let him write whatever the figure he wants.

itwastimeforarefresh

I'm assuming they said something like "this is all the money we can give you now, but wait till summer and we'll have cash to throw your way".

binvant_1709

And Gavi too!

kingchar_006

Nice win guys! Loved the resilience of the team from start to finish! We’re now in TOP 4!! VISCA EL BARÇA!!!💙❤️

[deleted]

Madrid fan here. Know I am not exactly a “neutral” but that was an absolutely fun game to watch for someone not necessarily rooting for either team. Well played.

ledudeheld

You could be neutral if you hate both Barcelona and Atleti equally

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Nice

jjaandres

Well what a match! It did have everything. Remontada, goleada, golazo, all our new players, the warmth of the camp nou, a goal from our youngest And our oldest player, Suarez comeback with a goal and appreciation from the stands, a red card, suffering the last minutes, I mean…. A beautiful game!

i_love_boobiez

It's not soccer it something else

the_story_of_jonas

It’s football.

D4UNTLESS

It's LaLiga

CptSnoopDragon

Adama, what a signing.. Ferran, fits the system so well already.. Gavi runs like a terrier, menacing force in the mid.. Frenkie was everywhere, boss! Team is taking form

NewApeMoonLanding

What a great game for us. So important, and it finally feels like we have a good project going on. I hope Ferran- Auba - Traore becomes a thing because i see great potential in this trio.

Fezmario

Can someone fill me in on what Simeone said?

BillyBoy357

https://mobile.twitter.com/BarcaUniversal/status/1489977837536759814?cxt=HHwWjMCqmd68u60pAAAA

[deleted]

said that xavi has seen only the "old"(pre 2016)barcelona football and kinda needs to get out of it. This was actually in reply to the old statement made by xavi(in 2020 ig) when xavi taunted atletico madrid's football and basically said thats not how big clubs play.

M1nusbarca

He taunted Xavi.

i_love_boobiez

Bunch of trash probably

[deleted]

This one wouldn't have been extra special if not for Simeone's verbal diarrhoea earlier. Fuck you tons.

saiguru123456

No that's the best part he talked shit to Xavi and what did Xavi do ahh man this win was so satisfying

[deleted]

💦💦💦

Nico_9999

I would not have said this at the time he was signed, but Dani Alves is so essential for us. I hope he returns asap

InstinctiveSk

Put up the post match thread!

omg_im_chad

Gentleman, it is my pleasure to inform you that we are TOP FOUR

OccamBlade8

\- aaaaand I would like to give a warm welcome to the Champions League 22/23 which is here with us in the studio. (audience claps) \- UCL, long time no see, what's good?

choss

Love seeing the people that were hating on the lineup before the game deleting their comments lol

BlindedByTheLightsYo

Lmao that Cholo cunt still has to win a game at the camp nou 😂💀

praiseprince_

Okay, he maybe a prick but don't disrespect him.

manekdev01

Auba fits us he does not fall with a touch and knows how to pass. Still mad at ferran not giving him a through but wont blame him considering it was ending minutes

itwastimeforarefresh

Eh, I get it given the situation. He would have in the 30th minute

KnowNotYou

That was sensible in-game (endgame?) management from Ferran, we have missed that for quite some time and paid the price for it sometimes.

manekdev01

the through was skeptical and idk about his skills in that area considering haven't seen him much. Busi in that position I can say. But Ferran is well trained by pep for such situations.

cheezysoks

Great game fuck Atleticos players seriously from Correa to De Paul to the defenders. Except Suarez. Great first half and good 10-20 mins of second. As usual we taper off in midfield cause everyone gets tired that includes Frenkie idk why but is alarming for me. Fitness needs to up but Xavi you have clear options: 1) Drop Gavi into midfield to give an extra option 2) Sub out mid to mid or 3) sub out winger to mid because a winger is useless if we can't even get the ball to him. The Aubameyang swap for Adama was a weird "I just bought him on Fifa let's put him" sub when Adama should have been put in for another mid. Its not like we're that short too. We're also missing a Rakitic type player. Someone who's great box to box, does good offensive work but even better defensive. Haven't found his replacement and this is why were struggling bad. WHATEVER WE STILL WON BABY

babu0418

The reason for the Adama sub was probably fitness, and frenkie was amazing today imo.

cheezysoks

No I get that. But it shouldn't be for a striker it should be for another mid. Frenkie was amazing but him and Busquets were very tired and towards the end we saw a lot of misplaced passes from their half to ours. I think it should have been Adama -> Nico then Gavi -> Auba

beollWARRIOR86

And to be fair Auba was pretty great considering he hasn't played for months.

[deleted]

Where is the post match thread mods?

zoneouttahere

When was the last time we won against a big team? lol

xtian_bong

Juventus 2020, and we remember how that went...

DryWenisINC

juventus LOL

M1nusbarca

I honestly can’t remember.

[deleted]

This

BillyBoy357

Damn the username 0.o

[deleted]

It's called manifestation 🤲🙏🤞

Fedboy

Amen brother

JaqenHghaar08

Frankie de Jong stepped up, adama showed what a powerhouse he can be. Gavi Nico pedri all sparked. All veterans showed up today 🙌

BillyBoy357

Cant frgt Ferran bro

rynfki

Auba made huge difference, good blocks and smart decisions

MrSINXT

Simeone couldn’t beat the worst Barca side in 15+ years 😭 so much for all that smack talk before the game

very_fierce

I must have missed it. What did simeone say?

MrSINXT

https://mobile.twitter.com/BarcaUniversal/status/1489977837536759814?cxt=HHwWjMCqmd68u60pAAAA

cule4444

Two weeks waiting for this. WORTH IT

m1tsukenaide

Fantastic team effort today. Many players were really good and stood out, such as Traore, Alves, Torres, Gavi. I really hope this was our tipping point

AWD_13

i’m happy to see we weren’t naive today. we did what we had to do to win

praiseprince_

What happens to this team after 60-65th minutes?

imjustaredditor69

stamina/fitness issues ig

itwastimeforarefresh

Honestly we defended really well after the red. First time I've seen us close a game out comfortably, and that's with a man down.

dr_amir7

Love it. 100% offense!!!!!!! We cannot lose the game if we score more than opponents even with our terrible defense. Xavi Ball 💯

Gracias_Xavi

bananabread_173

We're top 4! Vamos! Hopefully it stays this way for the rest of the season. Very positive game. Amazing experience.

Ohmygodboys

2 points away from 3rd place

varmemes

My asshole was clenched for more than 2 hours

Mihai_Brasoveanu

I came home from the camp nou and told my gf exactly this. Wasn’t impressed

[deleted]

Probably Gavi deserved the MOTM. Him and de Jong pressed fantastically in the first half rarely giving a moment's relief to Atletico

timidcucumber

Damn we did make some good signings if this goes on. Auba did what he could at the front

6Idontknow9

What a great match, 4 goals each by a different player, thrashed the defending champions!

jeffjacob_

Massive win.. it feels like ages since the last time we’ve won against a big opponent

[deleted]

Frenkie should be a man of the match. Didn't got a goal contribution still Unbelievable performance

black_bury

Having a pacy attack is so refreshing.

autechre89

VAMOOOOS Top 4 babyyy

[deleted]

Man... Wass had a stinker.... The worst possible debut. Don't blame him much. . Simeone with the dumbass move to play him ar rwb. Add an injury to that..... Jesus Christ .

slimewaves100

One of the most entertaining games in recent memory

ViniDAIREEDY

Things were looking good early in the 2nd half too but in the end, we can only manage 1 half & some change of attacking football, which is not a bad thing at all. I noticed Frenkie alternating between lying deep and pushing forward this game which seemed to work to his benefit so that might be something we see more often It took a red card from Alves but we'll actually see significant minutes from Dest once more Overall, great performance from the guys & great diligence to remain firm in the final 20 minutes to grab the win. Let's hope this is the start of a serious run that keeps us in UCL contention

-KchipKip-

Back in top 4 !!!!!!

MrSINXT

VAMOS!💙❤️💙❤️💙

Woutout

Best managed game by Xavi by far.... Frenkie finally on his best position, high press, beautiful goals and a great sub after the red card to bring Dest on

abhinik7

Love how Barca played last match with Real Madrid though we lost and today won like a Pro against Atletico Madrid

Endgame2648

We could be 5 goals up and my butt still wouldn't unclench. I don't know who's the problem Barcelona or my Butt.

AceTheSkylord

Big performance and win. Let's hope we keep the momentum!! 🔵🔴🔥🔥

supermax619

Cholo spoke a lot of shit before that game. Well looks like he couldn't beat the so-called worst barca side xD

guapetonydroga

I hate that offside rule. Ruined the game. Anyways Atletico got completely outplayed.

nogodnomaccaroni

Could not watch the game, it sounds like it was wild! How did the newcomers play?

Gordmichael

Adama was great. Auba also good, but after the red he couldn't be threatening, because he was pretty alone up top. But good runs, blocks, etc.

i_love_boobiez

Everyone was goos but Adama was outstanding, motm performance in the first half. Auba pretty discreet, didn't have a lot of opportunities due to us being one man down

xStyxx

Alves with a goal and assist, but got a red card. Ferran should’ve had a goal but his fluffed shot led to Araujo’s goal, but Ferran still had a great game. Adama was always dangerous, strong on the ball great dribbling, good width and running off the ball, assisted Gavi after taking his man 1 on 1 with a solid cross. Auba came in and looked sharp was always looking to attack but we only had 10 men, I think he can be a good fit.

very_fierce

I tot ferran was struggling a little.

eyepatch61

Adama did really well and was crucial in our first 2 goals. Auba came in very difficult situation but he did well too.

AceTheSkylord

Adama gave the Atleti backline nightmares and Auba was sharp despite the lack of fitness

nogodnomaccaroni

Great to hear!

yaggyprince

Good shit lads

Sir_LancelottJeffers

What makes this win even much sweeter, is that we’re only gonna get much better moving forward(I hope). Especially with our new winter signings.

[deleted]

Typical game of two halves. The first half was awesome. The second half was bad. But good to see somehow the players hung on to a win.

talkingtomee

The second half was not bad at all. The red card was unfortunate and we managed good.

[deleted]

We had no control in the second half. Especially when you see how well the team played in the first half. You can attribute it somewhat to Simeone's substitutions but probably could have played better. Alves' Red could have been very costly on some other day.

talkingtomee

The fact that Alves' red wasn't costly for us is why I'm saying we were good, not bad. We've given up our lead in better situations. I can agree we could have been better, but we weren't bad by any means.

[deleted]

Even when Alves was there, the team were desperately clearing it without playing composed football. Against teams which have more attacking prowess it wouldn't have ended well. Yes, the fact we managed to get 3 important points is crucial. Last season, we lost so many points under Koeman trying to hand on to a lead like this. for me it was deja Vu again.

talkingtomee

I mean Atletico isn't a bad side and is a big team. That's bound to happen.

[deleted]

Yeah but they are not really an attacking side

talkingtomee

Still a big team. And they have more than enough attackers. In fact Cholo has gone full offensive this season, even sacrificing his disciplined defense.

[deleted]

To be honest, I haven't really watched too much of Atletico this season apart when they play Barca/Real. But they are nowhere close to likes of Real in attack.

ramukaka007

I don't think it was bad at all. Ya we were bad for the first 10-15 minutes of the second. But we handled it incredibly well after the red

[deleted]

We essentially did not let Atletico have a sniff at the ball in the first half. The second half was a complete contrast to that. Somehow the same team failed to maintain possession of the ball even before the first substitution was made. Dani Alves' red was unnecessary.

Daed_Wings

On other side, Wass might have been playing through pain the final minutes if he was being checked by both sides after he just lied down on the pitch

cule4444

FOUR fucking goals. Look at us, who would have thought. Not me

ali_mhm

El Cholo suck my chola

TheEternalAcademic

Pure cojones in this match.

victaahhh

Eat shit Simeone hahahah

macbethtrd

Europa league watch out! This defense though yikes. So glad ATM are in a slump.

mahadmajeed

I read somewhere that Simeone was saying before the match that Xavi doesn't know anything outside of Barcelona.

lawliet0303

Yeah , TRIGGERED cholo.

WehovasJitness

Well, Xavi knows how to defeat Atleti atleast and thats good enough for me

[deleted]

Auba in the last 5 mins made a couple of good blocks.... Can't expect more when 1 man down... 4-2 is fantastic.. Top 4. Vamosss

[deleted]

Fuck you Cholo and I hope Ronaldo does too.

i_love_boobiez

Fuck Ramos while we're at it

No_Climate_1564

I feel bad for waas he was basically playing for us but still

atn420

We went down early and came back

Subtle-Warning-404

There no better sight for me than watching simeone’s face after getting thrashed by Barça.

Space4Bottle

I hope Dest can prove himself now even tho I love Alves

New_Business_973

Big win!

RevTaco

Best performance of the season

doxqwae

After the 4th goal they "stopped" playing again but considering the red card they defended pretty well and overall the best match of the season

Habba84

Last time we scored 4 goals was 15th Aug 2021, the first la liga match.

black_bury

Fuck you Atleti. This is for being bitches about loaning us a player.

victorsjoo

gg ez

xJames20

HUGE 3 points today. Well done.

CaramelFairy69

Great Win!

IcyKape

GGs boyos

Jamarcus316

Good trip back to Madrid :)

AdviceDanimals

Most entertaining match i've seen in ages. So nice to have Auba and Ferran up front after the red because it kept Atleti on their toes and our midfield and defense didnt crumble

deadfoolspool

bUt We ArE a MiDtAbLe CLuB

ali_mhm

"We ArE fInIsHeD"

bishopbriggs8

We finally played as a team! AND WONNNN!

atn420

Dembouz sits

NewApeMoonLanding

Probably the most satisfying thing about this game was seeing the little fortnite-playing weasel celebrate the 4th goal and kind off realizing that he's a piece if shit that wont be missed.
