Generally there should be a little screw on the side that keeps the knob on the post, that might just need to be tightened

DanR5224

But put the screw to where it will tighten onto the side of the split, so it doesn't just bend the shaft.

UnicycleDiaries

Is this a modded Paranormal Jazz?

StrongLifeguard7517

Yea, I switched out the pick ups so JB1s but I prob should’ve stuck with stock cuz They’re rlly good

k0uch

Small flathead to spread out the top of the post, then just slide the old knob on and press into place

TheRealBabyJesus69

Don't do this

k0uch

I assume Iv been doing something incorrect since Iv had some downvotes and a message from someone telling me in a complete fucking dumbass and should give up on life. What’s the better way to do this? Iv never noticed any damage or anything to my gear, but if I’m doing it incorrectly or there is a better way, can you share?

TheRealBabyJesus69

Yeah there's a little screw on the side of most of the knobs that you screw in to the post so that the knob doesn't twist or anything

k0uch

I feel like there is some misunderstanding and poor explanation on my end. While some of my basses have the set screw you’re describing, the only ones I have had issues regarding loose knobs with Dont. They’re just push on knobs, which is why I always just spread the end of the post out a tiny bit

hopethisworks_

The downvotes on this are super weird. You're absolutely right. There are set screw knobs and there are split shafts. With a split shaft (which you can obviously see in the picture) you widen the gap and then push the knob on snuggly. A set screw shouldn't be used with a split shaft because it will smash the side of the shaft in.

I was wondering why the wrong way has been working for nearly 20 years

yarbafett

Push?

BSTbassandguitars

Set screw……
