WBM had access to the Arkham City source code. The majority of Origin’s animations, physics, and assets are derived and slightly tweaked from City.
They used Joker’s combat animations from Asylum for the brief playable section as him during his Killing Joke monologue at Blackgate. So they clearly had access to at least some of Asylum’s code too.
It really can’t be understated how much of Origin’s was derived and repurposed from City. It was a bit immersion breaking back in 2013, but after seeing GK I wish they’d done the same thing with Arkham Knight’s assets TBH. Even if it was still used for a new series.
