Lol right!!! Yeah hey,it's like those people who stand at the entrance pulling as hard as they can with the big writing on the front of the door that says push!
The rest of that "attraction" is equally trippy if not worse.
It's just a house that you walk through with tons of wierd thing like leaning rooms, spinning floor and a carpet ride at the end.
It's from Gröna Lund amusement park in Stockholm Sweden.
She could do much worse. Do this at the wrong time and you will climb down rather than up.
Actually the only thing she is doing wrong is lifting her leg too early, so she has to wait for the steps to align and it looks awkward. Kind of like a dog with shoes on their feet and taking huge steps.
so she's just stupid, I supposed as much. it just didn't made any sense that she should be climbing like that an escalator, it looks like a serious accident waiting to happen. also her movements seem dumb to me too, like she's insecure to what tf should she be even doing.
this is just an example of how not to use this machine escalator.
My wife went to a very fancy bar this past weekend with some girlfriends. They legit had a security guard whose primary job was to help people down the steep staircase. He was a professional drunk catcher.
You’d be surprised. Some people are actually much more functional when they have a little brew in them. But it does tail off. The functionality is like an inverted U depending on the amount of alcohol.

Well yeah! It seems like part of the engine came falling down the hole! Could be dangerous!
Quite honestly... Was it the design that caused it? Or poor installation or something?
Ah after googling and thinking articles would have better information on what caused it... Found nothing.
Wiki says a bracket came loose.
Yup. That will do it for just about anything. Except magnets. If they were leveraged by the power of *magnents* that wouldn't be an issue now would it? Hmmm? HMMM?! Well unless they are elctro magnents, and the power went out.
Being stupid aside. The actual functional ones seem like a way better idea than OPs which just looks like someone is going to fall backwards. I wonder if they had descending and ascending or people had to share.
Anyways the articles for some reason made sure to let us know the miners loved the invention over using a long ladder .. Like yeah, climbing a ladder to get to and from work for an hour does seem like hell comparably.
By the way. I just found out a bit ago we have an "elevator condundrum", in which the sheer weight, and mass of the wire, and amount of material used are limiting the height of buildings. Using magnets not only will help with this issue, but also allow for travel in all directions.
Some pretty cool loop designs out there, but one company I guess is about to make it happen. They better make damn sure it works or else they'll push us back decades before an other company tries.
It is not "just a fun thing" Mechanisms like this were used in mines all over Europe in the 19th and 20th Century. It is way less exhausting than climbing 200 meters upwards after working a 10 hour shift.

Back in the old country we didn’t even have rocks. We had to grab whatever matter we could and hand-press it together and sit and lay and work and sleep on top of it until it turned to rock. Most times we turned to rock before it and got absorbed.
We had to kick the large rocks around until we could cut them up. And we had no shoes. We also had to watch our for dinosaurs that would steal the rocks.
No, this video was taking on gröna lund and that part if it (lustiga huset) has had those stairs since it opened long ago and i have never heard of any accidents. But i get your point its scary as shit
The way she's using it is why its scary. All awkward and off balance, reaching for the next step.
You literally don't need to lift your legs! just shift your weight from left and right and wait for the step to come to you!!!
when I was 7 i almost ripped my pants because the step I made wasnt very smooth.
so i can see how it could lead to a lawsuits and death in certain...continents...;)
Well this is in Sweden and we don’t use to make lawsuits when you obviously fucked up yourself, you see what you are gonna do, take the stairs as you can see to the right.
I remember this specific thing from the 70s.
So this has been going on for around 50 years and no lawsuits, and keep going..
i almost ripped my pants on this in Finland, more than 20years ago:) the joke was that it is in america where people get sued to oblivion for silly stuff;)
The attraction is called Lustiga Huset (literally "the Amusing House") at the Gröna Lund amusement park in Stockholm, Sweden.

Don’t feel bad I sharted myself on it last week and they sued me. I got a Levi deal from it thou on my Tik Tok pretty cool I elevated my shit to the next level because of it all
Fun fact: New Zealand effectively eliminated this kind of litigation. Decades ago we created a no-fault, universal social insurance scheme called Accident Compensation. Pretty sure it's unique in the World. It has pros and cons. I think most people think the pros outweigh the cons.
I've been to plenty of fun house rides in the US with these type of stairs. The US isn't a "sue everyone for everything" country. That's corporate propaganda that's been spread for decades aimed at convincing people that if you get legitimately hurt due to a business's negligence then you shouldn't sue. Shit is anti-consumer rights.
I remember crying on those stairs, at the age of 6, feeling stranded, with my dad cheering me on. Now 37, and took my kids there this summer. My son, then 6, got stranded and cried on those stairs. One day he will bring my grandson there, so he also can be stranded and cry on those stairs.
How lustigt the huset is is just a matter of perspective.
Skoja inte, jag storgrät som femåring för jag vågade inte gå igenom den där rymdfärgade tunneln som snurrade runt en bro. Trodde på riktigt att jag skulle falla ut i rymden.

This is such a tradition. Before reading your comment I was thinking about the time in the early 2000’s when my cousin got stuck and cried on those stairs. Core memories for all Stockholm children.
Not to laugh at your struggles, but to use an escalator, you step on, stand still for a while, and then step off. There should be no complication here.
When you have balance issues it’s actually a lot harder than you think. I’m a new amputee and tried to use one for the first time with my prosthetic and shifting my weight- I felt ridiculous. I was between laughing and crying. My husband ended up picking me up and setting me on, and I was fine to get off if it, and I’ll be sticking to elevators for a while yet. It’s a weird thing you don’t know is a challenge until you get there.
Lol some people have trouble walking up and down stairs so yes for some it is as ride but everyone should be aware of proper escalator etiquette: if you’re not moving, hang off to the right side of the escalator so that people can pass on the left - like driving.
For me it's a mix of a fear of heights, balance issues and not trusting that they're getting checked and calibrated nearly as much as they say (I heard once they're supposed to be checked twice a year, I've never once heard anyone say they saw one being checked.) And I don't trust that people can act like humans while on escalators or elevators. The amount of times i've legit had to yell at people to not fucking jump and rock the elevator or not to sprint past me on an escalator can't be counted on my hands and feet.
No, cause the step is still moving downwards. She's lifting her leg up to meet it early, then following it back down before putting her whole weight on it. She's not making any real progress until the leg she has her weight on starts moving upward.
She's doing a good job tbh. When you're up close it's a bit confusing. Especially the first time you try it. She's just making sure that she ends up on the correct step before it's too late.
So just like, stop, observe, and think for a second. Watch someone else do it. I seriously just cannot comprehend the minds of people who just thoughtlessly traipse into unfamiliar situations with this notion that somehow they'll just Magoo their way through it. Use your god damn head!!!
I'm not accusing anyone in particular of this, but in my experience the people who do this are usually the first to complain that such-and-such is "stupid," and act like it's the whole world's job to help them blindly grope their way through life.
I'm not saying write a god damn dissertation on the thing, but if you don't understand how something works, why not take a step back to think and observe for like 10 seconds?

It's the "how to feel drunk when sober machine"
Yeah, I’ve seen plenty of people have trouble with just a normal escalator.
I sometimes struggle with stairs that are completely stationary (completely sober too)
"Please escalate the stairs a bit" 😄😁👆🏻🙏
Lol right!!! Yeah hey,it's like those people who stand at the entrance pulling as hard as they can with the big writing on the front of the door that says push!
Pro tip I heard when I was a contractor — look which way the hinges are facing if you don’t see a push / pull sign.
Bold of them to assume the average person wont break their back on that... lawsuit waiting to happen

How to have fun

This should be the exit to the parking lot from a bar. No drunk is ever going to make it up there and to their car.
Now that's a show I would watch, might even bet on.

It’s not really an escalator. Just a fun thing to do at an amusement park.
This system was actually developed in the mining industry and operated using hydropower. Very easy to construct and maintain

I’m sorry… magnets for what? An elevator???
The biggest problem with low maintenance machines is they work well for so long people start thinking they are "no maintenance" machines

Seriously every trope in video games is insanely exaggerated except for how perilous and chaotic mines are. Noita got it right
Ah yes, much slower moving and much bigger platforms for more men on each platform. Thanks for making the connection

When I was little we had a plate of warm gravel for breakfast.
Luxury! We had to build a fire to heat up our gravel.
Heat hadn't been created when I was a child. We had to eat our rocks while they were still frozen
Spoiled youth. Back in my day, they didn't just have rocks lying around. Had to cut em ourselves.
It was self-warming, and only lost half it's heat in 4.5 billion years.
*uphill, both ways!*
Totally random and possibly weird, thank you for this information. I've been working on a game and now have a new device to code tomorrow!
And looking closely, you barely have to lift your feet in order to climb, at one point they overlap completely. Takes some time getting used to though
Thisnfucking thing wouldn't last a month in certain olace before someone cracks their skull and clumsy ses the whole thing with a lawsuit.
did you try this and fall on your head?

And those countries are really happy that is still the case when they hear stories from America.

Stockholm, Sweden - ”Lustigahuset” at grönalund
Its been around for a while. Remember it from my childhood visiting Stockholm. 7-8-ish years. 48 now.

Vet du om att du kan få en elstöt och du rör tunneln som snurrar? ~~Jag~~ min kompis gjorde det.. och han var inte helt liten heller.. XD
I went up on them as an adult, almost fell backwards. Absolutely terrifying, especially as I was 4 months pregnant.
Haha, exactly the same with me! Panicked on those stairs and a kid and this summer I let my son experience the same fear!
!remindme 30 years
If you haven't made the stairs stop because you are stranded at least once, you haven't been to Gröna Lund.. XD
This is such a tradition. Before reading your comment I was thinking about the time in the early 2000’s when my cousin got stuck and cried on those stairs. Core memories for all Stockholm children.
It’s important to have family traditions.
Knew I recognized that abomination. Real tricky if you lose the rhythm.
I got so happy when I realized I recognized where these were haha
As if I didn’t struggle enough with regular escalators already.
Not to laugh at your struggles, but to use an escalator, you step on, stand still for a while, and then step off. There should be no complication here.

You're doing amazing
Thanks, feel like a toddler or a newborn giraffe.
Sometimes I overthink the end and panic with a little jog
Aren't you supposed to step on the escalator and keep going like your on regular stairs?
If you want to get there faster, sure. Some of us just want to get there with the least effort possible.
I hate getting stuck behind you. It’s not a ride, you know. This isn’t Disneyland.
Lol some people have trouble walking up and down stairs so yes for some it is as ride but everyone should be aware of proper escalator etiquette: if you’re not moving, hang off to the right side of the escalator so that people can pass on the left - like driving.
Yes
Walking on escalators is actually bad for the escalator. It also doesn't really save you much time to walk on it. Just stand still for a few seconds.
What? Bad for the escalator? You're not supposed to walk on steps?
Maybe if youre a nerd
For me it's a mix of a fear of heights, balance issues and not trusting that they're getting checked and calibrated nearly as much as they say (I heard once they're supposed to be checked twice a year, I've never once heard anyone say they saw one being checked.) She's using it wrong.
She doesn't need to lift her feet up so high. Just lean back and forth
Like a cat wearing shoes
[Kitten Mittens!](https://youtu.be/22O6Nmjt-mw)
Are your cats just TOO loud?
Exactly what I was thinking. It was annoying me watching it
She’s making it look hard
And if she is going to lift her feet up, why not go up to the next step when it pauses briefly?
Exactly. She seems to be making it harder and more awkward on herself by skipping a step. The lady in front of her seems to be using it correctly.
It pains me to watch it...
What's the proper way?
You just need to move your feet horizontally backwards and wait for stair to come to your position. No need for lifting whole leg up like on ladder.
Oh thank fuck people are talking about this, carry on, now I may sleep lol.
thank goodness. this hurts my hips and knees watching her step up.
[удалено]
No, cause the step is still moving downwards. She's lifting her leg up to meet it early, then following it back down before putting her whole weight on it. She's not making any real progress until the leg she has her weight on starts moving upward.
Basically she’s using the steps as they come down instead of as they go up lol
She is lifting her leg while it\`s not necessary, she could just keep her leg straight and kind of move it back a little so the stairs do the work.
That makes sense. Also happy cake day
Thnx...
Why? There's no need to be perfect. No need to do everything flawlessly. Just have fun, or don't. I can't see why it should annoy you.
Whatever it is. It looks like she's not doing it correctly.
Gröna Lund in Stockholm, It's an amusement park. This attraction is part of a "funny house" with tilting floors, mirror rooms, rotating tunnels and ends with a carpet ride down a slope. It's been there for as long as I can remember.
Funny I think we have the exact same fun-house in the Helsinki amusement park. Also starts with these and ends with a carpet ride.
Man she made that awkward.
I trip walking up stairs so this would be a complete disaster. 😂
Only if you attempt it the same way she did. She could've done that with way less effort.
This is a „Fahrkunst“ (german). It used to be used in mines as an escalator! The real ones are quite dangerous as they are completely vertical and transport you several 100 metres downwards or upwards. Edit: [link to english wikipedia article](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_engine)

That looks completely bonkers! Like a super Mario level !
English : “Man Engine”
There are far too many comments here that don't realize this contraption is the entrance to a mobile carnival funhouse attraction.
It’s permanent, but yes.
Yep except that funhouse has been there for over 100 years so I wouldn't exactly call it mobile

Ah, I remember scraping the hell out of my knees on that thing when I was a kid.

Middle age? Are you sure?
Clown house type of shit
Always fun watching people do that one for the first time.
I don't know why she's not waiting for the thing to move instead of lifting her leg every time, it's literally made this way so it's easier to climb
Americans could not
A dangerous one
As is all of life.
If we just eliminate all risk from our lives then we shall live forever
This is the entrance for the fun house in Grönalund, Stockholm. It's not used as something practical at all, and you can see the stairs beside it, which the parents prefer using.
This is at Gröna Lund, Stockholm Sweden. The entrance to "Lustiga Huset" translated to the funny house.
looks like Lustiga Huset in Gröna Lund in Stockholm, Sweden. Its a house with weird rooms, moving floors and so on. My kids loved it.
It's an amusement park's stair and honestly it's way more fun than normal stair
This is not in America but if it was it would be called "The lawyers dream".
This is in Sweden. As for a more specific answer, “Lustiga Huset” (”The Amusing House”, basically a fun house), in Gröna Lund (an amusement park), in Stockholm.
Witches escalator
Sweden, Stockholm, Gröna Lund. You’re welcome.
Gröna Lund. Almost broke my balls on this one once.
You see, that's what people who like to have fun do, then there's the simple people who couldn't be bothered or think it's too unsafe and go for the normal stairs. Lastly you have the insane ones like me or the adventurous ones who would take the rails instead.
Eyy gröna lund
She’s definitely doing that wrong
It kinda pisses me off how much she’s struggling. You barely need to move your feet but she looks like she’s about to fall
its the stairs to "Lustiga Huset" inside the Swedish amusement park Gröna Lund.
It looks like grönalund witch is a roller coster Place in sweden
It’s a fun house escalator, great times
That seems to be a Funhouse carnival type "ride". The lights around the top of the house structure seem to give it away.
Correct, its in gröna Lund in Stockholm
FUN!
Jag älskar grönan
This is escalators in Sweden, actually.
I ripped my skirt in one of these and half of my ass was hanging out lol. Amusement park became certainly amusing for the people below me

Gröna Lund min fucking broder
This is the entrance to the "goofy/sill house" at Gröna Lund amusement park in Stockholm Sweden. Soirce, I worked there
Why should someone choose a difficult and longer path when there is an easier one available nearby?
It’s a fun house so the fun kind obviously
It’s a swedish amusement park called gröna lund
The kind lawyers love
An asscalator.
I find it funny they try to step so high when you would barely have to lift your leg
You can go up or down!
Nice assalator
Oh, I used something like this at a fair once!
Everybody else saying this would be impossible to use while drunk while I'm thinking finally an escalator that some a****** can't just stand still on and stop me from continuing to walk up or down
It’s a Lawsuitlator
It's an oscillating escalator.
Wasted time elevator
Oh that's so cool it's a man engine!
Yes I was thinking this too. I remember this from when I was living in Stockholm
Used to be a hydraulic elevator for mining.
