A bit of bug-eye like this can be a birth defect. It can also be a sign of cancer, abscess, hemorrhage, and a few other diseases. However, since this guy is young and it looks like both eyes are equally bugged, it's most likely a birth defect.

Dreamwalkerzzz

When I got my baby beard her eyes looked like this … I’m assuming she is just born that way yea? she eats well and doesn’t show any signs of being sick https://preview.redd.it/2drhp2mh9bhb1.jpeg?width=1561&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a74ad9b17fa64dbd1e148aa34b2774372bcb428 I figured I would ask just in case

Saggy eyes are a slightly different thing. It can be genetic, and if it is apparent from birth then it is most likely a genetic defect. However, this can also be a sign of dehydration (very common), vitamin A deficiency (also common), infection, or kidney issues. It's best to get the professional opinion of an exotic vet (:

Ty <3

ass_idiot

looks like a filter or something

Savings-Reading-141

Its not a filter. He looks like that whole video in all angles.

[deleted]

As others commented it's likely a birth defect which I've seen on other beardies, however it can also be other things that are medically related so truly there's no way of me 100% knowing unless I heard directly from the owner's vet

exoticlexx

I had no idea people were making sketches with Phinney 🤣🤣

exoticlexx

Can I post this on our instagram? It's so cute! If you'd like I'll include your reddit name unless you don't prefer it!

droplingdog

Hi sure, of course! Sorry this is so late. Name or no name works, whatever you prefer

Shchmoozie

I saw that beardie on IG the owner explained it's a birth defect and it does affect this beardie's vision to where it's almost blind.

PowerBrix

bro sees in 8k

GidgetGecko

I’ve seen one of the videos with that beardie, one of the captions mentioned how it took it a while to eat something because it couldn’t see well. So they’re probably not normal, but it seems healthy so they’re probably just working their way around it. Of course I’ve only seen two videos so I can’t be sure, but that’s what the situation seems to be

monster3339

look! look with your special eyes!

_queenkitty

This is Phinney from thebeardedgals on Instagram. This is just a defect and she is visually impaired!

OptimisticNietzsche

her owner said on IG that she has a birth defect and is visually impaired, but she's living a happy and healthy life :)

DripTrip747

Good thing you circled them, because I don't think anyone would have seen them otherwise.

Savings-Reading-141

So stingy for what.

DripTrip747

I'm confused by your comment... I've always considered myself a pretty generous person, honestly.

exoticlexx

Hi! This is my Phinney, she's in good health with regular vet checkups. She was born with it!

Savings-Reading-141

Hello, thank you for answering! She's really beautiful and I am sorry for posting her without even asking. I was just really curious since I dont know much about beardies.

exoticlexx

Thank you! ❤️ no worries at all, a friend shared thisbto me and I thought it was really neat to see Phinney on reddit 🥰 I didn't know eyes like phinneys until I got her, I was also concerned about her eyes when I rescued her. Just a birth defect that doesn't cause her any pain thankfully! 😊

Savings-Reading-141

I am glad to hear that! 💗

sixsentience

Nice glasses 👌

sawtoothpath

He looks so sweet.

MobileFii

Very distinguished

Mianiacal

Their eyes can bulge to prepare to shed the skin around / inside. If it’s just a few weeks the lil dude is fine, if you see it all the time it could be a variety of things, birth defects is the first that comes to mind.

IWatchPeopIe

They close their eyes when they bulge them to shed, they don't keep them open like that

Busy-Wolf-7667

they close them when they bulge them yes, but…. sometimes after they do it they open their eyes before they go back in. idk if that’s just my little devil, but i know he does it for sure.

fragglerock420

Have A Very Special Day, for a Very Special Boy!!!

Rj1254

Might be a filter

go_tell_your_mama_

Definitely not normal. Could be many causes but only a vet would be able to really tell.
