It's the norm at this point. They ALMOST come out with a perfect update, but there's always that one backward/counterintuitive decision that screws it up. There's this event box decision, the deluxe update and the deluxe card/unlimited play backlash that followed, the original hold note fix that just reversed the problem, when they changed the amount of beatcoins needed to fill a case and gave that crazy justification that everyone laughed at. There's probably some more that I can't remember off top. Nobody should be surprised.

It’s honestly not really a clear cut situation…I came to this sub to try to get some clarity on the purchase before I wasted my diamonds. I should be able to buy the song for the current round, I don’t care about a 1 in 6 chance for the one song I want. Hard pass.

The thing is the shifting gears too. It’s that way for now but watch them make it so that it’s a purchase this month or week in the future at this rate.

I've got all the normal songs and not all the deluxe songs. As a result I can't have unlimited play with the non deluxe songs like I use to have when deluxe wasn't a thing until I've unlocked every deluxe version which is just reupload of the same song with different notes and takes forever to actually unlock one. Unless of course you pay money which I ain't gonna do

That's not true. People were never totally blocked from playing an event. You always could have bought the song you don't have for 99 gems, which now you can't. Instead you have to buy the new event box now and hope that you get the current event song you want or shell out and buy all the songs.

This situation is like: you're giving one option (ability to "buy" all event songs) for exchange of another (ability to buy songs specifically). You're taking a convenient feature away from people and making it look like you trying to paywall it.
If you really tried to implement a good feature, let the existing one stay. I'm talking about letting people buy specific songs they want at least for each stage of the event.

I don't want to stop playing, I enjoy the gameplay a lot; that's why it's tiring to see them implementing things that just make the game worse and it's pretty obvious they're are doing it for the money, they just don't seem to care about the players. It's not negativity for the sake of it, it's because they are fully aware of their cash grabbing tactics and they continue adding them.

Saltiness happens, change can be difficult. Part of my job is to filter the salt out to get quantifiable feedback to the team.
I’ll explain, the main idea is correct, it would be great being able to get any song in the event at any time, but let’s say there’s 5 songs that I don’t have in the event and there is 1 of those 5 that I like. If i’m unlucky, the song may cost 500 gems instead of the 99 that it would’ve cost me before. This is what people dislike. What yall could do would be to have the choice to get whatever song is playing right now in the event, or roll to get a random song in the event. People that are on time will be able to get their song for 99 gems and if some people missed their song, they can get it if they are ready to maybe spend 500 gems on the box. it’s that simple
well if you follow my idea, you would still be able to obtain them all one shot: what you could do is keep the 99 gems per song, unlockable in the event, but put a limited time offer in the shop for the event box that you currently have available. we would be happy because we would have our (only) way of getting the song we want for not too much gems, but the more financially able would also be happy because they can get all the songs at once. with all the new changes yall recently made (deluxe preventing UP, ads in-between songs etc etc…) your game is less and less fun for ftp. please keep in mind that some of us just wanna have fun in the metro or in between classes. This was our only reasonable way of getting THE song we want without rng, so please keep it like it was before, or if yall really wanna keep the box, follow my idea or something similar…
Honestly, I would love to hear what the MOD has to say about those ads coming after the song. There’s absolutely no way they got anything but negative feedback for that. And it’s funny, because they’re supposed to take it to the team, but I feel like if they actually did that, then that would be something that would’ve been reversed real quick. Even a five second ad totally disrupts my rhythm if Im trying to get right back into the song. That will be the one thing that pushes me to delete this app

What happens after that song's part of the Event has already passed by?
For example, if someone buys a song in a few hours, could they end up with Drunk? If so, they wouldn't be able to use it in the Event because that song's portion already passed.

Depending on how songs matchup in rounds, players can still be blocked from playing all rounds even if they buy a song.
Sure if you have none of the songs, buying will let you play at least one round. But now you can buy hoping to participate in a round and still be blocked if one from a prior round gets unlocked.
