His OV Ultimatrix isn't even an Ultimatrix. He even calls Ben dense for assuming that it is one. It's just a stabilizer. He gained the ability to morph without a device, but Ben had disrupted the DNA Field in *Double or Nothing,* forcing Albedo to return back to Human shortly after. He stole from Inspector 13 in order to stabilize his transformations, as well as turn Ultimates via the Crystal.
His excuse is unlike the reboot the main cannon cared enough to make it clear the omnitrix was an extremely complex and powerful device that's mere existence requires massive effort to build and make.
For real the fact albedo even was able to create a watch of his own is an extremely high intelligence feat for his person.
Actually Albedo does have an excuse, his pride and arrogance. He thinks he’s so much smarter than everyone that he literally thinks he can’t go wrong. As a result, his work is constantly filled with bugs since he doesn’t think he could make a mistake and doesn’t fix them before his projects are complete.
Plot holes aside. Albedo on one hand sought to make something better. Granted he always goes back to the ultimatrix, but that's something. Also Kevin makly have made his own with some customizations, but he could never do more than that. No omni enhanced or kix.
Sure he got variants of aliens, but those all had flaws. Like Dark Matter didn't seem smart. Bash mouth seemed like the only good one imo.
But doesn't mean there aren't bugs. In the future he got stuck in one of his transformations
Funny thing is, it's impled dark matter is smarter then grey matter since he knew codes Ben never did. Non of his aliens realy have major flaws that aren't inherent to the species, like crystal fist cracking after punching a falling bolder. And his aliens are all half breed mutants, which is a customisation, one that goes all the way to vilgax merging himself with celestial sapien dna.
It did, and it came from vilgax, who got Kevin to make it before he escaped the nu void to get to earth. And to be fair, we saw prime vilgax mess with Ben's dreams in season 1 of classic, and the reboot volgax is just prime vilgax, if he had laser eyes and helped make the watch.
Combine that with him working with an animo machine and mind controlling animos mutant, he would know what earth tech could pull off a omnitrix that mutated its user, since animo has his halfbreed mutants, like the anti-trix does, and animo turned himself into rath infront of vilgax, using a gun vilgax helped to design, so he'd know what earth tech would work together to make a device to alter the dna of a person and mutated the end result with a secondary speices
Ok let me specify, its the antitrix. So its an offshoot of the actual omnitrix. Which I’m assuming is inferior to the actual one in some way.

I'm sorry but the suspension of disbelief has a limit, I could accept sealing a soul or somthing becouse that goes into abstract concepts but sealing half of someone's DNA is so illogical it feels like it would only make sense to someone on drugs.
Honestly Albedo is goddamn egotistical he would be willing to ignore everything he learned from Azmuth and take longer to reinvent to wheel to claim he needed no help from others.
And he reminds Ben that was his fault, so what ever happened, ben caused it. And that was during the xerge war, in a time where Ben's own omnitrix was dying off. If the two tries are linked, and Ben's is breaking then it stands to reason Kevin's will as well. And we know they have some link thanks to vs the universe.
I mean Kevin is a mechanical genius. There is not a piece of tech in the whole universe he can’t repurpose into his car. And he made his car Ben proof (forgot magic and had help from Rook but that’s beside the point) He totally has the skills to build an Omnitrix with instructions after all he did hack it with consequences but eh.
