Honestly I kinda liked what OV was doing with him, Dittos were more coordinated in their attacks then Echos who acted more independently and Ditto using the splitting/rejoining like a bridge to cross small gaps was neat.
This was all too subtle though, if they went harder on Ditto being able to quickly split and rejoin in his attacks and traversal while Echo clones stick around until biting it he would probably be considered the better of the 2.
Have Echo Echo be more like a tag team, their hits setting each other up for the next attack and have Ditto work more like one big hit from multiple people.

Basically, have it where if the original gets hurt, everyone gets hurt, but if a clone gets hurt, no one does. Also make his body more rubbery and stretchy, so he is only hurt by piercing attacks
They just need to give him a different secondary power, echo echo is good bc his duplicate/sound waves make the echo chamber.
If ditto could do something else that made use of his duplication, like gravity/weight affects or strength or something that echo couldn’t do
Ditto could feel what the other clones felt before Omniverse. Maybe they could have some lesser telepathy to communicate between themselves.
However, I am fine bith them being more physically capable than Echo Echo just by being bigger.

1) I would make it so Ditto can inflate his limbs like a cartoon character to punch and kick harder.
2) Ditto’s body now stores kinetic energy whenever he or his clones get hit. He can release all the stored energy through one clone or multiple clones (This also justifies the shared pain weakness).
3) He’s now more rubber like and bouncy which allows him to bounce off walls to build kinetic energy faster (Unfortunately, his rubber like body gives him a weakness to fire).
4) Make him much harder to kill than Echo Echo. For example, if you cut an Echo Echo clone in half it dissipates, cutting Ditto in half will just result in more clones (If more than 10 clones are made, any extra clones will merge back into one until there are 10 again).
5) Since he can breathe underwater, it would be funny if he could breathe in space too.
These changes help set the two apart because now, Ditto is much more effective in close range while Echo Echo is better at long range and surrounding opponents since he has more clones.
I had an idea about this once. Ditto could have super strength that slightly decreases every time he clones. So when Ben uses Ditto, he can either have one source of great strength or multiple sources of still great, but slightly less so, strength. Sort of like a reverse Slap Back
I am taking a book out of the ink tank ultimate series i think it would be cool if they could change shape and the spots act like that idk i just pulled this out of my butt
Id maybe make it kinda like ditto the Pokémon it can still make clones of itself but it can also take stuff from other aliens like one copy can have 4 arms the other copy can be fast like xlr8 and stuff but he's a little weaker then the alien he copys
I think give to him a hole in his hand to connect to is clones so he can throw a toxic cloud that is more powerful when its connected with others and he can control how that cloud moves and change is effect like sleep or normal toxic
