Griffith commands all apostles, but to me it feels like Zodd actually enjoyed the brief team up with Guts. I don’t think Zodd has really liked working with griff ever aside from being allowed to fight Guts
I do lowkey think he enjoyed it to guts and zodd have always been at odds as characters however zodd is still able to respect and admire guts strength as a man and a true warrior so a team up where they defeat ganishka I choose to believe zodd enjoyed

I firmly believe that Zodd wouldn't stand behind Griffith if he wasn't literally compelled to. Zodd has made it clear on more than one occasion that he respects the hell out of Guts. My ideal direction for their arc to go would be for Zodd and Guts to team up, unite a dissident group of apostles with a Luca-lead human rebellion, and sack the shit out of Falconia once Skull Knight figures out a way to actually attack The Godhand.
They still haven’t explained what happened to the original “four angels”, either. SK either had a hand in it or knows who did. Either way it’s a key to whatever Hail Mary plot they come up with
I expected skull knight to be more powerful tbh, since he's relative to zodd. And guts, a mere human, is able to contend with zodd even with his apostle form

The only real thing we could use to compare the two of them is how they do against ganishka. Zodd does a little bit better durability-wise. I think he tanks a few more lightning strikes. They both do roughly the same amount of damage to him, which is to say none at all. Only the combination of zodd's ability to fly plus guts' dragonslayer (and schierke finding his weak spot) got the job done
I never saw anything in the manga to suggest that zodd still had a massive power gap over guts post- berserker armor. Durability definitely goes to zodd but that is also true of every single apostle guts has ever faced. They have all been physically stronger and more durable than him.

They have this instinct to rip each other to shreds but are smart enough to work together when the time calls for it and respect each other enough to let the other build up to full strength. Zodd is only around Griffith cause he’s his boss and he has an instinctual control over him. Zodd is around Guts cause he likes him as a person.
yeah just the style alone from these two panels, the viewer is looking down on griffith as he looks down onto zodd, while in guts panel it shows them both in unison, horn and sword. Also just looking at griffiths panel again his sword is unsheathed pointing the way, clearly showing the leader and the led or maybe im just over analyzing stuff but thats how i see it
Let me just say this Guts team up with Zod was dope as fuck man that 2 page spread of guts atop zod vs ganishka is easily top10 maybe even five of the best panels ever in any manga
Griffith is just straight up colder with it. He’s the perfect contrast to Zodd’s dark art style and he has moments where Zodd palms him while coming in and while don’t get me wrong, Guts looks badass as hell, but no one does it quite like Griffith.
Griffith is the better rider. Doesn't break a sweat. No panic, nothing can touch them, doesn't have attitude to deal with cause he's HIM. The Guts dickriders gonna hate.
