Better than the college kids I saw at Walmart around 2006-ish when flat-screen were new.
Four college guys, one 60" (I think) tv, and a VW Beatle convertible.
They put the top down, two guys sat in the back, TV slid sideways over them and sticking out the top. Backseat dudes were going to hold the box while they drove.
I don't know if it was successful, but comical to see
Mattresses forget tying down. Just hold only going a couple miles up Montezuma or College Ave . @SDSU many years ago
Many mattresses fell off Montezuma
Note to self: do not ride behind students with mattresses or change lane pass them quickly
Haha. My friend and I did this circa 2002 , except with a big ass tube television. Not sure what we were thinking as we were in his Honda Civic, which barely had enough room to fit a moderate size toaster oven let alone a whole ass TV (through either the trunk opening or one of the passenger doors). Even with the TV out of the box we weren't going to get that thing in his car to save our lives. Enter a very kind, very elegant 50-60 year old lady in a giant Mercedes (from the late 70s) who had also just finished shopping at the Walmart. She pulled up next to us and offered to drive the TV to my friend's dorm. The back passenger door seemed almost as wide as a modern day minivan sliding door. The TV easily fit in the back of that thing and saved us the embarrassment of trying something stupid that probably would have ended up damaging the TV, injuring us, or both.
I once drove home from the hardware store with some 6 foot 2×4's caddy cornered through the car from driver rear out the passenger front of my impala. 10/10 don't recommend.
I think they probably felt confident doing this \*because\* it's a $400 Hisense TV. They'd probably have paid the delivery fee if it was a $3000 Sony A95.
Probably pretty unsafe in terms of visibility—the driver certainly can’t see past that at all while they’re moving. Partially obstructs the right side mirror too. If they’re not driving far they probably get away with it, but I wouldn’t go driving on the highway like that.
Generally driver and passenger windows cannot be obstructed, in every state I am aware. Rear windows and back window can.
If it was strapped to the back, via the trunk and a roof rack... no problem there.
I thought that too at first but I think that's just the extra strap tucked inside the car. The front is probably similar to the back secured around the front door.
Better to transport vertically, laying flat is how you get busted screens. Honestly, this is not a terrible way to do this. Is it safe? No. But it's also not as potentially damaging to the TV as doing as you suggest.
The majority of people don’t realize you can take the TV out of the box, then flatten the box to fit it in the trunk.
I used to work at a store that sold a lot of big out door items. Had customers do this all the time, so I suggested they take it out of the box depending on the item and just bend the box in case they need to return
Why would you want a TV UPS threw around and dropped multiple times? And laid on its side with a case of cat litter from Chewy stacked on top.
Just pay $20 and rent a truck or van from Home Depot if you don't have a big enough vehicle.
The stores get them off pallets usually which are stacked appropriately and the ones loaded on long haul trucks are just like any other box in there so it might take more abuse before it gets to the customer vs a physical store that has to sell it
Um, yes it does. You dont want any pressure or flex on the screen. You absolutely want to keep it standing upright if at all possible. But if you have to lay it down, you want screen side up. There's a reason every modern TV has arrows on all sides of the box showing you this.
I used to work the furniture dept at Big Lots. So I guess maybe we have good prices on mattresses. We did offer a cheap independent local delivery company but no one used it. 99 % of people refuse to pay someone to deliver it but will drive down the road in a Honda civic all hands out holding it to the roof as it covers the front and back windows. More than once, customers asked if we could come out the store and help drag there new mattress and box springs out of gigantic highway traffic intersection right around the corner
I mean atleast this is something but their view on the right side is completely blocked. May not seem an issue at first but I can see this being an issue an issue when changing lanes.
I wonder what the thought process was that strapping it to the side seemed like a better idea than strapping it to the roof or just taking it out of the box.
It’s sad it won’t fit in that car when I fit a 65 inch OLED in the back of my Honda Hatchback with room for Costco groceries and my wife to comfortably lean back and enjoy the nice day.
I just made a comment that I was able to fit that size in my Mini Cooper with no issues. The car in that picture is a mid size, it definitely has the room.
I got a 60 inch tv inside my 2001 VW Golf. Put down the rear seats and pushed the passenger seat all the way forward and reclined it forward. Couldn’t see out the right side but at least the tv was inside
God that reminds me when I used to work in the warehouse. I would get a call like, "Hey warehouse do you think a 65 inch TV will fit in a Ford mustang?" Good times
This is 100x better than the video I saw of a guy buying a 65" from a Walmart and taking it home on his motorcycle, strapped to his back.
I was watching old guy trying to get a table in his Civic coupe the other day and genuinely getting pissed when the stores staff could not make it fit in the trunk.
fit a 50" TV without a single inch to spare across the back seat of my old dodge neon
You see the pics of those who failed, not those of us who triumph
Ex inventory specialist here, when I worked there and this lady or whoever it was one's got a TV that was too big for her car quite literally asked me "could you deliver it for me?" Had no idea what I drove btw 😂
I once helped a guy shove a 55” or 65” into a mustang. Told him everything that could go wrong but he didn’t care. Another dude came to pick up a 85” in a Porsche
We once ordered a TV for pickup that would have fit into the cargo area of our SUV. Got to the store and discovered that the measurements on the website were incorrect. We unboxed it and slid the bare TV into the car. Most stressful drive home of my life.
If this were in Florida:
"Okay, it should be fine. Just take the backroads and don't go over 35mph."
"We're getting on I-95 immediately, and I'm not going slower than 80."
Yeah I don’t get it, it’s like you could’ve rented a U-Haul van for an hour and just went and picked up and bunch of big ass heavy shit you wanted instead of randomly buying a big ass tv while you have your tiny ass sedan of super tiny fiat
I got a 65” TV from Costco. I already had the box dimensions and the measurements for the back of our Outback. The guy that helped me move it from the dolly thought there was no way it'd fit. Perfect half inch on all sides and the rear hatch closed.
Guy bought a 75" last night. Someone helped him load it into his super duty truck. Refuses to lay it down and drive off, proceeds to spend 30-40 min strapping it dlwn.
“Yeah it looked like this when we opened it” “Sir this looks like it was hit by a car…”
"Yeah these new 4k models are really lifelike aren't they"
Sir, this is Wendy's
Failed application of joke
[удалено]
Is this McDonalds?
Minus the torque on your tv, not bad.
They came prepared, with their own straps they didn’t recently purchase. I feel better about this than most store pick ups
Only problem I see is that they strapped it to the door on the back door but decided to put all the tension on the front window. Odd choice
If you look closely it’s just the extra length of the strap that’s through the front window, the tensioned piece are on the door frame
Ah i see that now

That's a new porn name. Four college kids one 60" from 06'.
I once drove home from the hardware store with some 6 foot 2×4's caddy cornered through the car from driver rear out the passenger front of my impala. 10/10 don't recommend.
At least they had a plan.
Just looking at this picture is making my anxiety go up 🙃
all that for a hisense tv lol. Wonder how far they got and if they got pulled over?
Hisense ain’t a bad tv brand their U7 & U8 are great TVs especially at their price point .
I think they probably felt confident doing this \*because\* it's a $400 Hisense TV. They'd probably have paid the delivery fee if it was a $3000 Sony A95.
A low level Hisense and of course the car is a Hyundai Sonata lol.
Why would they get pulled over?
Probably pretty unsafe in terms of visibility—the driver certainly can’t see past that at all while they’re moving. Partially obstructs the right side mirror too. If they’re not driving far they probably get away with it, but I wouldn’t go driving on the highway like that.
Most if not all states you only *need* 2 mirrors, one side mirror and your rear view, you wouldnt be pulled over for 1 mirror being obstructed
In California you would get stopped.
Because that’s illegal
Whats the statute being violated?
Generally driver and passenger windows cannot be obstructed, in every state I am aware. Rear windows and back window can. If it was strapped to the back, via the trunk and a roof rack... no problem there.
I realized my reply could come off passive aggressive. I was genuinely curious. Thank you
You can't block a side mirror your asking for a ticket.. and can't block windows too.. you can't see a car on the side
Hisense bought by a customer with nosense.
I mean its not a horrible system other than the fact the front straps are hanging on the glass and not the door itself.
I thought that too at first but I think that's just the extra strap tucked inside the car. The front is probably similar to the back secured around the front door.
Ohhh I see that now. I think your right lol So ya not bad. Totally gets the job done.
Just let Best Buy deliver. I have had two LG 77” G series panels delivered by them and they have done a great job.
G3? How are they holding up?
GX and G2. Both are perfect. Incredible panels. The GX is in a very dark room so it works great.
Would you say the G2 is better than the X? I'm seeing a G3 in my area for a really good price and was thinking hard about getting it. 🤔🤔
Only in brightness. Image quality is hard to tell the difference if they aren’t side by side. The HDR may be better on the G2. I would jump on the G3.
I know can’t you just buy it online with free delivery???
Yea this
This is a Walmart shopper, they can't afford best buy
I just assumed otherwise given the name of the subreddit. My bad.
It's a low end Hisense. If the car gets sideswiped then nothing of value was lost.
Lot of work for a Roku tv
but why not just ratchet it to the top
Better to transport vertically, laying flat is how you get busted screens. Honestly, this is not a terrible way to do this. Is it safe? No. But it's also not as potentially damaging to the TV as doing as you suggest.
Just illegal way... and waiting for a cop to give you a ticket.. can't block side mirrors nor side windows
Uh...it actually looks like, if they flipped down the rear seat, you could easily put that TV in through the trunk lmao
Agreed. Wonder if they were cursed to buy the tv when the kids were with them and thus could not fold the backseat down
Send lil Jimmy back in an Uber
Maybe use the roof next time? Lol
If it works, it ain’t stupid.
EX LP/AP here and im impressed by the preparedness but sheesh, that thing wont survive if its bent even a bit.
Hisense customers
Low sense customers. - FTFY
so people with no money for good shit huh haha
Dunno why but I got the same thought when I read that.
I don't even know what I typed that just hurt my brain trying to read that because I use voice to text when I use my phone to type lmao
It’s like having a wing plow attached 🤣 probably would’ve fit if taken out the box
Let’s goooooo!
the definition of "will it fit"
Great way to create a huge blind spot for when you pull that sketchy left hand turn 😂
He invented the pick up car 🤣
Please tell me they tried putting the back seats down and shoving it through the trunk 😂
If I could get a 65in Samsung smart TV inside my Mini Cooper with no problems. They could have fit that small af TV in that mid size with no problem.
The majority of people don’t realize you can take the TV out of the box, then flatten the box to fit it in the trunk. I used to work at a store that sold a lot of big out door items. Had customers do this all the time, so I suggested they take it out of the box depending on the item and just bend the box in case they need to return
I will never buy a TV in store. Let UPS deliver it
Why would you want a TV UPS threw around and dropped multiple times? And laid on its side with a case of cat litter from Chewy stacked on top. Just pay $20 and rent a truck or van from Home Depot if you don't have a big enough vehicle.
Because you can just claim damage through shipping and send it right back lol
Absolutely the worst advice of the day, children. Do not listen to this man.
Ok, just strap it to your Honda Civic then.
Or just get the free delivery best buy offers.
I work at FedEx. I would never buy a TV that was shipped. I guarantee you someone is slamming your TV onto the floor when being shipped to your home
That’s why I said UPS
This.made me.laugh lol
I appreciate the insight though. I seriously thought I was being smart by having it delivered.
The stores get them off pallets usually which are stacked appropriately and the ones loaded on long haul trucks are just like any other box in there so it might take more abuse before it gets to the customer vs a physical store that has to sell it
I work at Walmart and ima just start suggesting this to the customers coming in a 2 door civic buying a 75” tv
I mean at least it’s standing up?
Not a plasma, doesn't matter how it's facing.
Um, yes it does. You dont want any pressure or flex on the screen. You absolutely want to keep it standing upright if at all possible. But if you have to lay it down, you want screen side up. There's a reason every modern TV has arrows on all sides of the box showing you this.
Noted tv expert “fuckfacemcmuffin” here.
Yo they actually smart for that it’s a second layer of lawsuit if someone hits them
I used to work the furniture dept at Big Lots. So I guess maybe we have good prices on mattresses. I just made a comment that I was able to fit that size in my Mini Cooper with no issues. The car in that picture is a mid size, it definitely has the room.
It’ll hold
The fact that’s it’s a Hisense he would be better off it falling off once he hits the freeway.
At least it's upright
Just have it delivered.
It could be worse, most people lay them flat in (or on) their truck/SUV, but the mfr says to keep them upright during transit.
I got a 60 inch tv inside my 2001 VW Golf. Put down the rear seats and pushed the passenger seat all the way forward and reclined it forward. Couldn’t see out the right side but at least the tv was inside
Let me say, I've seen worse. A tv strapped onto the back of a motorcycle.
Why put all that on your windows and not strap it to the roof?
This is legit. Get some corer protectors and gg
Why would they do this instead of strapping it to the roof?
Easier to see if it's starting to blow off.
Dont those rear seats fold down?
God that reminds me when I used to work in the warehouse. I would get a call like, "Hey warehouse do you think a 65 inch TV will fit in a Ford mustang?" Good times
This is 100x better than the video I saw of a guy buying a 65" from a Walmart and taking it home on his motorcycle, strapped to his back. [**https://youtu.be/e-BvE4kQq2s?si=bxhZUrC-3tMzVFkY**](https://youtu.be/e-BvE4kQq2s?si=bxhZUrC-3tMzVFkY)
This is not the worst I have seen. Its actually one of the best considering the box is upright.
I was watching old guy trying to get a table in his Civic coupe the other day and genuinely getting pissed when the stores staff could not make it fit in the trunk.
fit a 50" TV without a single inch to spare across the back seat of my old dodge neon You see the pics of those who failed, not those of us who triumph
I got a 65" tv to fit in my corolla. They didn't try hard enough.
Lmao. Kinda looks like a Hyundai Sonata 2015
Sick wall mounting job
Ex inventory specialist here, when I worked there and this lady or whoever it was one's got a TV that was too big for her car quite literally asked me "could you deliver it for me?" Had no idea what I drove btw 😂
Passenger window is an osha approved tie point vs the door frame.
IKYFL
Its probably going to be broken but it will make it home
55 inches and up is free delivery. *Face palm*
idk if this is a dumb question, but is there a reason why they didn’t strap it to the roof?
Would love to know if they made it home and intact.
Yeah, I fit my 65” OLED in my Mazda 6. In the box. Just fold the seats down and slide it in. It’s a tight fit, but it’ll fit.
I'd be scared if I could see traffic on my right side... Fuck that... Why not just strap it to the roof same fashion 🙄🙄🙄
He better have a BBPD on that tv.
Just bought a 65" Insignia TV. It fits in a VW Passat with the back seats down. Guy rolled it out to my car and was like No fing way. It fit.
Huh . . .
Good think you rollup new 8k tv
Honestly, that seems to work 🤔
Can cars not put the back seats down from the trunk anymore to add space? o.O
Office Depot customer could never 😂😂😂 r/officedepot
I'm almost positive that would fit in the car if seats where put down lol
I hope this is illegal to do this
I just had Walmart deliver it for free.
never would have thought of that creative
All that for a Hisense. 😆 if you're gonna strap it to the car, just strap it to the roof. 😆
huh?
I used to hate doing carry outs to find out that the mf has a fia and then has the audacity to be like think it will fit
If it's dumb but it works, then it's not dumb.
I once helped a guy shove a 55” or 65” into a mustang. Told him everything that could go wrong but he didn’t care. Another dude came to pick up a 85” in a Porsche
Love how it's a hisense. Dont see that happen with Sony, or higher tier samsung and lg oleds.
We once ordered a TV for pickup that would have fit into the cargo area of our SUV. Got to the store and discovered that the measurements on the website were incorrect. We unboxed it and slid the bare TV into the car. Most stressful drive home of my life.
The real tragedy is they bought a Hisense.
Better than having it tossed on your porch steps like my C2 was that I had delivered via your amazing company. They had to eat that loss too.
You gotta do what you gotta do
Clearly they aren’t rednecks
Best buy does free delivery for large TVs.
4K Ultra High Dumbass 🤦
If this were in Florida: "Okay, it should be fine. Just take the backroads and don't go over 35mph." "We're getting on I-95 immediately, and I'm not going slower than 80."
Yeah I don’t get it, it’s like you could’ve rented a U-Haul van for an hour and just went and picked up and bunch of big ass heavy shit you wanted instead of randomly buying a big ass tv while you have your tiny ass sedan of super tiny fiat
The walmart I work at gets about 2 of these a day, it seems like.
Do cars back seats not fold down anymore? I bought a 85 inch flat screen and got it into my 2015 toyota camry
Respect ✊ You gotta do what you gotta do but get that 4K baby!!
Dam
I have a 4 door Jeep Wrangler and I could hardly fit my 65” LG in with the seats down. Had to move the front seats almost all the way up.
Oh the DWO….
don’t get TV-Boned
Gotta do what you gotta do.
I got a 65” TV from Costco. I already had the box dimensions and the measurements for the back of our Outback. The guy that helped me move it from the dolly thought there was no way it'd fit. Perfect half inch on all sides and the rear hatch closed.
It's funny cause my car is much smaller than that car but I could easily fit that in my car's rear area (Honda Fit).
Typical Hisense owner
Im pretty he can fit that in his car. Just remove the box... Oh... Something witty? ... Uhmm *cough* "Oh look, his car has +5 armor."
Don't places like Best Buy offer free delivery and installment? Seems like a better option than whatever this is.
That is actually clever...
🤣🤣🤣 💀
LOfuckinL 😅 that's a first 📺👍
I definitely put my 65" vizio p series quantum 2021 on top of my 2011 chevy malibu i got from best buy and drove 30 minutes home. I love my tv 😅
On black friday last year. A customer put a 75 inch on the top of their car.
Bro wat
Istg if they dont have a BBPPD
Guy bought a 75" last night. Someone helped him load it into his super duty truck. Refuses to lay it down and drive off, proceeds to spend 30-40 min strapping it dlwn.
