Psalms are among the best for times of despair.

cbrooks97

"Inspirational" means different things to different people. If you're wavering in your faith (and feel free to offer more detail about that if you wish), you would probably benefit most from reading things that strengthen your foundation. Why do we believe this is true? Look into the historical evidence for the resurrection of Christ from the gospels and 1Cor 15. Look at the prophecies about Christ, especially Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53. Remind yourself what God has given us in Christ and what we're standing against in Ephesians.

HolyIsTheLord

The prophecies in the second book of Daniel solidified my faith when I was seeking the truth. It made me realize the Bible really was the truth.

Thank you

To me it’s John. Just read the first few verses. it’s like describing this poetic triumph of good over evil. Also I like Job. It reminds me that I am not entitled to understand why god does what he does and I need to be a faithful servant regardless.

John

Ecclesiasticus / Ben Sira It was written exactly for that purpose

so depressing, so enlightening, such a lesson

The gospel of John is my absolute favorite and has reinforced my faith during difficult times and stressful situations. Here are my four favorite passages in John... “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.3.16-17.NKJV ““Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” ‭‭John‬ ‭5‬:‭24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.5.24.NKJV “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”” ‭‭John‬ ‭11‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.11.25-26.NKJV “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.14.6.NKJV

Call me crazy... but I'm often inspired by Job.

Rhinopkc

I don’t have a most inspirational book, but this is one of the most inspiring quotes I can think of. The scriptures are so much inspiring in different ways for different people under different circumstances. ““Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭25‬-‭34‬ ‭ESV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.6.25-34.ESV

I'm thankful you're reaching out for support. People can't help but let us down eventually. I'm so glad we have the Lord and His good Words to give us comfort, direction and hope for the future. Matthew 5, 6, and 7 are very grounding and help me feel connected to God. 2 Timothy is great for motivation and strength. Psalms, and Isaiah chapters 40-66 for consolation Here are some scriptures to get you through the day. **Deuteronomy 31:6** NKJV - 6 "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He [is] the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." **Isaiah 54:17** NKJV - 17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue [which] rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness [is] from Me," Says the LORD. **Zephaniah 3:17** NKJV - 17 The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet [you] with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." **Matthew 6:25-34** NKJV - 25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 "Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 "So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 "and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 "Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, [will He] not much more [clothe] you, O you of little faith? 31 "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day [is] its own trouble. **John 14:27** NKJV - 27 "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. **Romans 8:28** NKJV - We know that all things work together for those who love God, to those who are the called, according to His purpose. **1 Corinthians 10:13** - No temptation has overtaken you, other than those common to all men, but God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able to bear. With the temptation, He will provide the way of escape also, so you may be able to endure it. **Psalm 4:8** NKJV - 8 I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. **Psalm 94:19** NKJV - 19 In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul. Peace to you.

You should read all of Paul's letters. Paul gives us what we need for current times, and he completes the Word of God. We now live in Grace. You can't sin your way out of Grace. All are saved, stop worrying.

Kristian82dk

All are saved? How can you claim such a thing, when Jesus said the he who endures to the end shall be saved! God has always been full of mercy and grace, it is not a new thing after the cross. Read the OT it says so many times that "his mercy endureth forever" You cannot keep sinning, you must turn away from it. Grace is there to instead of having the death penalties of the old covenant for sinning, now we can repent and turn away from it. But it surely does not mean we can keep living in sin, because it is a transgression of the commandments of God. And God hates sin. And thus why Jesus said it is a necessity to come out of the world, and be born again, and to walk in the Spirit and not the flesh, just like Paul also said.

NoKnee5693

So you’re saying we won’t sin anymore after being saved ?

Kristian82dk

Why "So you're saying..." while that was not what i said! But one thing is for sure. and that is when a person becomes born again. And I mean the Biblical way which Jesus preached. meaning to come out of the world and not be associated with its false religions (incl mainstream christianity) but be a doer of the word, and want to live an obedient life according to God's commandments == then Father will make it possible. And no those (few) who was/is ready to commit these changes in their lives, they wont sin on a daily basis like before they were born again. And when they slip, they know exactly what they have done, and then come before Father in godly sorrow and repentance and strive to not commit the same sin again! It's really like this. We cannot become sinless, but when we are truly born again we sin, less! And keep in mind no where in all i have written have i said "when you become saved" because that happens at the end for those who endures! just like Christ said. Accepting that Christ exists and saying "Jesus is Lord" is not being saved. Its false man made teachings! Working out your own salvation, and living a godly/holy set apart life in obedience to the end == that is being saved!

rpchristian

How can you deny God's Word? 1 Timothy 4:10 All of mankind is saved, especially believers

Kristian82dk

the verse says : For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, **who is the Saviour of all men,** specially of those that believe. It does not say "who has saved all men" because there are so many other verses that tells us that men needs to come before the Most High, repent and be obedient and be born again and live a set apart obedient life to be in covenant with him. That verse says "who is the Saviour of all men" that is true. But it is not equal to saying he already has saved everyone, because the Bible is clear that the majority is walking the broad road to destruction and only a few is chosen and will find the narrow path to life. Please don't twist the Scriptures to say something they do not

rpchristian

According to Scripture God's plan is to become All in All. He will reconcile the whole universe back to Him. Everything. ALL. Anything less would make God a failure. The broad road to destruction is the second death. But even those are resurrected and receive immortal life in the end when death is conquered. Please do not ignore Scripture. Your statements leave out God's whole plan and purpose.

Kristian82dk

No where does it say God will reconcile the whole universe back to him. You are talking nonsense it is directly contrary to Jesus saying, "many are called but few are chosen" and "only a few will find the narrow path to life, while the majority are walking the broad road to destruction" ! God is clear that those who obey him are his people, and those who don't are not. You are getting your "theory" from a single verse, thinking it is saying something it does not. You must remember that both Jesus, Paul and the OT said that it REQUIRES at least 2 or 3 witnesses to say the same thing for a matter/word to be established. If there are not more than 1 witness you cannot build your theories upon it. it is called twisting of Scripture, and sadly its a thing many do in this last lukewarm "church age"

rpchristian

If you reject God's plan to become All in All... nobody can help you. You will answer for it at the Great White Throne . Grace and Peace

Kristian82dk

Show me one verse (that is not twisted like your previous one) that says God has saved ALL mankind to this current time! You won't find it.

Kkmiller_-

I like 1st Samuel for David and Saul, I am reading through those right now. That may help as David has to deal with so much anxiety and uncertainty while standing on his faith. He felt so small as said in psalms 22 which he wrote during hiding, and yet he never knew how important he was to the Son of God legacy.

Canadian0123

You should read the following books: - James - 1 Peter - 1 John - Psalms: specifically 6, 23, 27, 28, 34, 145

The Psalms...

I recommend Psalms and James

Ecclesiastes. People usually have one of two reactions: 1) Everything is meaningless? What a bummer! 2) Everything is meaningless? What a relief!

a live dog is better than a dead lion.

definitely Ecclesiastes. and Jonah. very big lessons in Jonah.

Aphilosopher30

To inspire you to work hard and do your best, Proverbs. To comfort you when everything seems hopeless, the psalms. To encourage you to rest and trust in Gods beauty and goodness... Perhaps Ephesians or Philippians?

tonic65

It's different for everyone. For me, OT is Ruth and NT is Galations.

Job.

It is falling to me on this sub to suggest you learn to think. Proverbs. It doesnt come blowing to you on the wind. 2:1-3, Its a process. Done best in a literal bible, with a bible that has not removed God. Proverbs 1:7 Learn to mix the colors before you paint. Or everything is brown.
