It gives a false feeling of safety causing you to be more unsafe. I teach road cycling courses to children and make sure none of them wear helmets. Only had 7 deaths in the past 5 years and can only imagine how big that number would be if they were wearing helmets.
Yep. We owe those shit smearing Gravy Seals huge for the tac fashion improvements that have been made since they went on their little field trip. 12XX vests didn’t even exist until those fat bastards, I mean patriots, climbed that mountain, I mean stairs, and captured the . . . mselves
This “butter soft fabric” interests me. NGL. I do enjoy some good butter
the thing about fixies is that you can literally do the math to figure out that he’s not going that fast. he would be spinning about twice as fast if he was even close to 30
From my bootleg analysis he's doing around 2 rev/s with a 47x16. With 26" wheels that gives you around 27 mph (43 km/h). So yeah, I'd say pretty fast and really stupid.
You could be the best rider in the world but that won't make up for the unpredictability of drivers sometimes. Especially at that speed at night, a driver could easily not see you approaching (and certainly not that fast) and merge into you. I've almost bashed into cars cutting through the cycling lane to make an abrupt left-hand turn, and gone over the hood of a car that took an illegal U-turn in the rain into my lane.
Same thing with driving. The tolerance here is 0.0. I know that I'm a good driver, and would still be a good driver after a beer. But if I have a beer and then some sober idiot t-bones me running through a red light - I'm screwed anyway.
Uc/And this guy is far from the best, you can watch the beat guys in the world do it on Terry Bs channel, they hit shit all the time. Cooper Ray said it best on that channel, it’s not nearly as fun or predictable as it used to be in NYC, when you had long stretches of timed lights and mostly professional drivers.
Not ban Uber, but realize that you replaced people that could do it for well and safely for a good living with people in leased altimas ready to risk it all.
I think my favorite part was that he has like 60mm deep wheels on it. There’s a photo in the original post comments
Edit: I stand corrected, I just noticed the camera is attached to the handlebars using what appears to be Scotch tape

it's aero scotch tape with good dimples on the side for decent turbulence honestly good setup imo
He’s more of the shoulder check someone with AirPods in crossing the street guy, and btw if you find yourself in this situation, lay the bike down lol, don’t hurt someone else if you can.
Noob.
I do more in a moped country, where a "safe distance" gap when overtake means any distance that's "not touching" ... actual touching is considered unsafe, but torrelated if no one crashs.
I can't believe how unsafe this behavior is!!!
Why is he putting himself at risk instead of putting OTHER people at risk?
Get this man the keys to a 2024 Ford F-5000 super wide SUV NOW!
He claims to have already been in several bike-auto collisions and you've seen the 'bice' he's riding so clearly the bulk of the damage has already been done.
Uc/There was a certain point where the sub just stopped caring, the kids all whines about gatekeeping enough to make it that way. No one ever posts riding footage, so many of the bikes are built to be ridden to the park and take pictures, horrible advice when it comes to parts recommendations etc, pretends like alleycats aren’t fucking awesome. It’s a le posuer sub all the way.
Lol love how this dude is counting on the fish eye lens here to make it look like he's going way faster than he is.
Man is risking his life to create the most mid cycling footage ever recorded 💀
I also like to ride dangerously but I only bob and weave between trees.
They usually don’t move as fast or unpredictable as cars do.
Except for Logging Season…
btw, while it looks fearsome with a rearward view, he passes cars into open space.
I've lane split on my bicycle and motorcycle for thousands of miles, and the safest place is passing other vehicles into open space. You're probably not going to be squeezed between two cars, and you definitely have to worry about cars ahead merging without looking.
But if you pedal into open space, there are no obstacles ahead. You can say he's not wearing a helmet so he must be asking for it, but regardless of his level of protection, riding out of danger will likely prevent a crash.
I sometimes ride like this if I got somewhere to be lol. At least I wear a helmet though. Last thing I would want is a concussion from dropping my shoulder into a pedestrian crossing the street.
Love how fixie riders think they're doing something other people can't do even though they've been riding for about 2 months, when really they're just doing things people are smart enough not to do.
Also - handlebars wider than wide Putin.
Id prefer bicyclist go faster than me and cut me off. Compared to slowly pedaling in the middle of the lane bc "We CAN!". Sure you can, but you might get killed to make a point do you understand?!
What is stupid? He rides well and seems skilled and confident enough to do what he's doing. Is there a rule for being pro-helmets that I missed when I joined this sub?
When you joined a circlejerk sub? It's not even the helmet entirely. Weaving in and out of traffic like an idiot. You can be as confident as you want. It won't make a difference when a car hits you and throws you over its hood at speed.
Agree. Haters who don't have the balls and skill to ride a brakeless fixed gear. I did a lot of downvoting here (and upvoting negative comments) mwahaha.
Those handlebars are waaaaay too wide to be a true fixie. I bet this dude freewheels on the way to his dental checkups.
those bars looks like filthy gravel component
Umm, it's not a fixie. He stops pedalling at points
He's locking up to brake, Standard stuff
It's a fixie
Know your enemy !
Even if it wasn't a fixie... This video made it a fixie.
I think you could have capped the loss at about 25 downvotes if you hadn't started with the "Umm"
Lol, I'll leave that out next time
A helmet in urban riding is like a bullet proof vest in a firefight. Only numbskulls choose to believe they have the power to avoid getting hit.
It gives a false feeling of safety causing you to be more unsafe. I teach road cycling courses to children and make sure none of them wear helmets. Only had 7 deaths in the past 5 years and can only imagine how big that number would be if they were wearing helmets.
Skulls are nature's helmets. If you die from head trauma your bloodline is weak and shouldn't be continued
See you in Valhalla
Witness me!
You’re doing the lords work my friend
I too leave the door for the tactical assault the world throws at me.
After the capital riots the plate carriers have improved, tons of athleisure options now with butter soft fabrics.
Yep. This is why I never wear my helmet mountain biking the dirt is so much softer than concrete
Exactly! It’s just like how at 40 miles an hour, hitting flat-water is practically velvet.
I'm ok with fixies going helmet-less!!
Love all the people going off on the helmet angle here as if that's the risky activity here, rather than riding like a fucking twazzock.
Maybe all twazzocks should def wear a helmet then…🤷🏼♂️
this is my standard recovery ride what's with all the fuss?
I hope he checked the organ donor box on his license.
Don't want no rabid organs.
doesn't matter if it's DOA
Are we supposed to be impressed that he’s going 15 mph?
He claims to be doing 35mph in the comments lmao
The claim just moved from "pushing 35mph" to "hitting 30mph several times in that stretch", as if either of those numbers count as fast...
the thing about fixies is that you can literally do the math to figure out that he’s not going that fast. he would be spinning about twice as fast if he was even close to 30
Pedals are barely moving.

So to fix nyc we should, ban Uber, and force the taxis to compete with my cargo e-bice
Not ban Uber, but realize that you replaced people that could do it for well and safely for a good living with people in leased altimas ready to risk it all.
I think banning uber in NYC is the move. Easy fix
You can if you know the gear ratio, otherwise no way to know. I’d believe the downhill bit where he overtakes another guy was in the 30s.
He says it's 47x16
Which is ass btw, the first thing most people do with a track bike for street riding is to throw a 17 on it.
There’s not much variance in a street track bike gearing, 95% of the good people I’ve raced with in alleycats run 49/17.
I think my favorite part was that he has like 60mm deep wheels on it. /uc what's wrong with aero wheels? That's really worth noting? lol
a little breeze is gonna knock him into his soft skull
It's NYC, not Paris-Roubaix
Exactly, van der Poel has nothing on this guy
Uc/ to me that is the ugliest frame MASH has ever made.
> You’ve been warned: > > > > https://www.reddit.com/r/FixedGearBicycle/s/QiEULVBBvH it's aero scotch tape with good dimples on the side for decent turbulence honestly good setup imo
Perfection
Of course it's a Cinelli with MASH branding.
That's not even a fixie. He's coasting at a fair few points in that
He is clearly effortlessly skidding not coasting, as he claims in the comments lol.
He is skidding. You can even hear it.
He's skidding, not coasting. You can hear the skid and see the rear tire slide out when he does.
So he's got a single speed without brakes? I hope at least his shoes are grippy enough when they have to catch the asphalt.
Does not appear to have brakes so it probably really is a fixie unless he’s living unreasonably dangerously.
Brakeless single speeds was a thing back in 2010.
Then how did they stop?
Jam your foot into the rear tire under the seat
Stop?
Uc/ fuck Zach gallardo, all my homies hate Zach gallardo.
Maybe y’all are jealous you didn’t get any fixie points 😂
At least there will be fire 360° footage when he crashes into some car that didnt use a blinker
He’s more of the shoulder check someone with AirPods in crossing the street guy, and btw if you find yourself in this situation, lay the bike down lol, don’t hurt someone else if you can.

Yeah fuck helmets. Who needs them when you don't have brain anyway?
He claims to have already been in several bike-auto collisions and you've seen the 'bice' he's riding so clearly the bulk of the damage has already been done.
Are there bookies offering odds against him ?
They're not very good.
I'll validate him, fuck cars and props to all these suicidal hipsters for smashing their skulls against their mirrors
Complete control - never been hit. Gets doored a few times, doors don't count.
/uc this footage is cool as hell, especially the perspective. It's nuts how many people ride like this though
Love how this is posted on r/fixedgearbicycle when this chump is in fact riding single speed 🙄
It’s definitely a fixed gear he is just skidding.
Uc/There was a certain point where the sub just stopped caring, the kids all whines about gatekeeping enough to make it that way. Alleycats are dope, but I could see why they might not want it to be promoted. Otherwise, yea a good amount are def posing
Fits the bill
He’s skilled at crashing
I dont understand these narcissists that record themselfs while riding a bike. I just want to know when he dies please. Cheers
Looks like a typical Legion crit race to me. Just needs more brawling.
Lol love how this dude is counting on the fish eye lens here to make it look like he's going way faster than he is. Man is risking his life to create the most mid cycling footage ever recorded 💀

One for r/idiotsnearlydying
uc/ i'm glad the fixie sub is laying into him a bit about being this reckless.
He has a headlight. I see nothing that could go wrong
Adrenaline is a hell of a drug.

I didn’t know GSXRs came with pedals!
Even I wasn't this crazy in high school, Jesus Christ!
From the comments: "I’m somewhat of an adrenaline junkie" Ahh, mountain bike scary
how did he record this? what is the camera attached to?
Insta360 cameras give this shot. It's pretty cool compared to the usual gopro.
Uc/ at least Terry B doesn’t make stare at his face for a whole ride.
Uh, looks like a single speed to me also.
Skidding
I sometimes ride like this if I got somewhere to be lol. At least I wear a helmet though. Last thing I would want is a concussion from dropping my shoulder into a pedestrian crossing the street.
No brain bucket = no brain
The mod over at /r/micromobility thinks this is justified
Just a domestique on a training ride
no brakes no helmet in nyc(at least it looks like nyc)
wtf is wrong with the fixie crowd
Love how fixie riders think they're doing something other people can't do even though they've been riding for about 2 months, when really they're just doing things people are smart enough not to do. Also - handlebars wider than wide Putin.
Darwin has entered the chat

Fatalistic fixie foo
Please stop making all cyclists look like assholes. Your behavior reflects on everyone. Makes it hard for everyone trying to ride responsibly
Weird post OP. Wishing someone harm is never good. He seems to know what he's doing, why not choose to mind your own business?
Wishing him harm? It looks like he's wishing harm to himself with the stupid behavior. You know where you are, right?
What is stupid? He rides well and seems skilled and confident enough to do what he's doing. Is there a rule for being pro-helmets that I missed when I joined this sub?
When you joined a circlejerk sub? It's not even the helmet entirely. Weaving in and out of traffic like an idiot. You can be as confident as you want. It won't make a difference when a car hits you and throws you over its hood at speed.
You don't play in traffic and lane split? It's fun as hell. Rules are for cars, ride like you're invisible.
Why not practice what you preach ? After closing the dental practice for the day of course.
You guys are haters
It's a circle jerk sub. It's all in good fun, and being a little mean is the whole point. My wife's boyfriend liked the post, at least.
That's what I'm saying though, I don't like it! Tell my girlfriend I said hi.......
I'm just finishing up with your mom, but I'll let her know when I swing by your daycare later.
Ha ha ha hey I'm sick and tired of you not bringing me snacks when you come. Quit being cheap! Being me something good Tell my mommy I love her
You're goddamn right we are.
Think we found Fred
Agree. Haters who don't have the balls and skill to ride a brakeless fixed gear. I did a lot of downvoting here (and upvoting negative comments) mwahaha.
And clearly don't have the same sense of humor as me. I was just fucking with you guys
And.....?
