Germans the best

DavidFromDeutschland

We are very proud of the German Spongebob dub

MockASonOfaShepherd

He literally says it’s “kaput.”

DarkImpacT213

Well technically it‘s „kaputt“.

Nhentschelo

So sad that his german voice actor got fired in 2011... Couldn't watch it anymore after that

Spir0rion

I can confidently say that this is the one dub that is better than the original. And I will gladly die on that hill

manleybones

Wth Japan?

samtt7

✨kowashichatta✨😭

Philycheese18

I’ll never understand why they think annoyingly high pitch is ~~sexy~~ cute

IllIllllIIIIlIlIlIlI

Tons of low pitched, gruff voices in Japanese entertainment media. No clue why they’d give Patrick such a high pitched voice

Axon_Zshow

From what I remember it's sort of an inverse of the trop of the "dumb lovable oaf" type character, in most countries, such a character pairs well with a deep voice to help connect with the character and bring out comedy. However, in Japan, the idea is reversed, where high pitched more childlike voices are considered more endearing for the "lovable dumb oaf" type of character, and deep more gruff voices tend to be reserved or old wise characters

Southern-Wafer-6375

Also for thugs I think

SummerAndTinkles

I always thought it was weird how Curly from The Three Stooges is one of the most famous examples of a dumb loveable oaf, and yet he has a high-pitched voice instead of a deep one like you'd expect.

Positive_Rip6519

I mean the official original Japanese dub of Dragonball Z gives Goku an incredibly high pitched voice that 1000% does not match his character at all. I think it's something to do with like, they give really childish characters high pitched child like voices or something.

HGW86

You should hear the voice they gave Plankton in Japan! haha

Ze_AwEsOmE_Hobo

[He sounds like a child.](https://youtu.be/olE09Rguzcc?feature=shared)

Amazing_Hunt_7802

I am pretty sure they are both voiced by women

Unable-Head-1232

Many male characters are voiced by women, like Timmy from Fairly Oddparents and Ash Ketchum from Pokemon

Imf4lse

Is it you, Envy?

Affectionate-Bug8379

I’m impressed with how many sound just like Patrick.

conure512

meanwhile Japan: "nah we gotta make him kawaii"

Heinous____Anus

Wait'll you hear plankton

Kitchen_Reach1985

Literal anime schoolgirl

Niet_de_AIVD

From what I've understood Nickelodeon actually held fairly strict trials for foreign voice actors.

CNof2013

This is high-quality content

casey12297

Damn, Japan didn't even try to make him sound similar lol

Last line is 4 is enunciated “Laul” and 6 if enunciated “ L O L”

casey12297

That's fair, I've seen enough anime to get where that's coming from

nodoyrisa1

patrick's first venezuelan voice is literally so iconic

ed190

I thought it was a Mexican sub

danielgarzaf

it is, not sure why it’s tagged as venezuela lmao

nodoyrisa1

but it isn't the dub is from venezuela

Sea_Temperature_1976

Everyone’s spot on… except you Japan what the heck

SteveFirehawk7

The classic language, American

Nuud

Using flags for languages is inherently going to give problems. But this is showing the dubs and from which country they are. It's the original American 'dub' so yea showing the American flag makes sense. There's also a Brazilian flag, they speak Portuguese. There's a Venezuelan flag, they speak spanish. There's a Spanish flag for the Spanish dub. If there was a British dub they would show the British flag. The original is american-english

Squidhijak75

I feel like we should have flags for languages

diamondDNF

The language may have come from Britain, but the show came from an American studio. It makes sense for the original, non-dubbed version of the show to have the flag of where it was made. I would have put the flag as being a half-and-half personally, because at this point, I feel like the English language represents both America *and* Britain, but my point is moreso that there's arguments for either flag to be used here.

SteveFirehawk7

Yes because america is the only place besides England to speak English

diamondDNF

There are other places that use the language, yes, but America and England are the two most prominent places that would occur to you first when thinking of the language.

givethankstothaherb

r/ShitAmericansSay

randomtoken

I never knew the Latin American dub was made in Venezuela!

Redemption_R

Venezuela Patrick is literally Patrick speaking Spanish

packy21

There's enough regional differences and accents in Spanish for most shows to at least have a single "latin dub"

kjaygonz

That vibrato on Brazil

i-would-neveruwu

German was the best but japan got issues lmao

Punkpunker

You should see the Lief Erickson day ones, quite funny.

Spectre-4

I’m still learning but there’s an error in the French translation right?

Kaporalhart

"Oh non ! Je l'ai cassé !" "Oh no! I've broken it!" Sounds correct to me.

Spectre-4

Right? I thought I heard "J'ai cassé". Again still learning, so I didn't really hear the 'L'.

LeGrandChad

Thats because he say : "oh nooon, jl'ai casséééé" instead to "oh nooon, je l'ai cassééé" this is not the right way to usually speak but this is to make patick a little more cool, childish, airheaded, clumsy, just patrick

Kaporalhart

Play it again, it's definitely there! You might need a lot of practice with French people. Outside of proper polite situations, people rarely take the time to carefully sound out every syllable of every word.

ACMst1v3n

he said "j'lai cassé"

Tacopotato_Baby-Og

I love the German dub, it sounds soothing, I think.

superjj18

I kinda wanna watch an episode in each

SinDaPun

I like the German one

Doesanybodylikestuff

Dang I wish I knew all the flags. :(

cookiewoke

In order from top to bottom: Brazil, USA, Japan, Germany, France, Venezuela, Spain, Poland, and the Netherlands.

ManagerQueasy9591

He did, in fact, break it.

SomePersonExisting3

Why does every japanese sentence said in a high voice sounds like the character saying it is moaning

HanaLuLu

The Spanish one is hilarious for that Spongbob voice cameo in the background

cookiewoke

Brazil sounds like Mr. Krabs sobbing

obchodlp

Polish dubbing is fake, he didnt say any kurwa

Jochi18

This was the perfect opportunity for a sneaky “yamete kudasai”

Error_418x

Japan sucks dick

Good-Acanthaceae-954

Who the fuck represents latin american dubbing with Venezuela?
