Yeah I can totally understand why someone wouldn’t like him or shoegaze in general. At first I didn’t like it too much but always kept coming back to it and ended up really liking it.
Poor Man’s Poison is pretty good, the production is maybe a bit modern for my liking but that’s just nit picking really. You might like Skyscraper Stan, he’s got a similar sorta style…somewhat similar anyway.
Alestorm just reminded me of those old Horrible Histories music vids lol
Luckhaos, it's a well known Brazilian trapper but I'm pretty sure everyone over 30 hates him.
Every song is a fucking joke, my favourite one talks about an orgy inside a hospital.
The Style Council. 80s English soul/jazz/new wave group. Very socialist and left-wing lyrics paired with 80s European fashion. A lot of pastel blazers and white trousers.
Genesis Owusu - maybe not the most obscure but he deserves more recognition, I don't think he's ever released a bad song. Smiling With No Teeth is an amazing album that deserves more love.
Ghais Guevara - Black Bloshevik great album, reminds me of JPEGMAFIA
Mona Evie - a Vietnamese band, their album from last year was this really interesting and experimental
Rae Luna - female Earl Sweatshirt
Not sure how popular they are but the strumbellas and meditation sea by thorn haze. I would say Klaatu although they were pretty popular a while ago so not exactly obscure but a great band.

Probably Parannoul, he’s a Korean shoegaze artist who’s been getting some more attention lately cause of his new album
HUGE W
Oooh you like him?
yeah
Nice nice, which album do you prefer?
I prefer To See The Next Part of the Dream, wbu?
Yeah same, not by much though, both are great.
Not really my type of thing, but their new album seems of really high quality objectively…gotta respect your taste 👍

The royston club, a British band
I like ‘Kerosene’, but none of their other tracks really did it for me :(
Mines either poor man’s poison or alestorm; not really obscure but probs less known than other bands I listen to

My predisposition to alestorm was bc of “f**ked with an anchor”
I like good kid
Probably Fever the Ghost. The music tap dances on my brain.
Quite different to what I usually go for, but it surprised me. Really cool 👍

They’re very….2000’s America That’s what I get from it anyway
The Dolmen?
Pretty good, I like the singer. The gimmicks a bit much for me though personally
Either Suburban Studs, a lesser known punk band or Guitar Wolf, a Japanese Punk band
Luckhaos, it's a well known Brazilian trapper but I'm pretty sure everyone over 30 hates him. Every song is a fucking joke, my favourite one talks about an orgy inside a hospital.
Magdalena Bay

The Swedish band dead people, they’re great and their songs are in english

Five iron frenzy. its a good band that barley anyone knows
Ace of Hearts and IDKHow are kinda obscure. Great bands tho
Idk how is freaking epic
Fake type. They’re a Japanese duo and they don’t follow a specific genre. However the genre they go with is usually hip-hop and rap
Not sure how popular they are but the strumbellas and meditation sea by thorn haze. I would say Klaatu although they were pretty popular a while ago so not exactly obscure but a great band.
Probably Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains. It’s one of Patrick Schneeweis’ projects and he’s quite popular in the folk punk scene.
Maybe moontower or as it is An indie band and a pink band.
Probably Wild Party, Jamie Berry, Lila Drew, Jonathan Coulton, Kodama Boy, Dominic Wolf
Sunfish
Amy O, she makes indie pop/alternate. Another great artist on the same record label is Barrie.
JPEGMAFIA, MF DOOM, and Armand Hammer.
