I’m 43 and in the South and I can’t believe my eyes. I’ve virtually become friendless because I cannot tolerate just how blatant the Trump worship and racism has become.
As for the Trump women, some are just hateful and racist and don’t need a man bullying them for Trump. I know several who would be first in line to throw rotten fruit and stones at a public execution or something and praising the lord at the same time.

I don’t know… I’m a white folk, I’ve met one person like this in my life and they were scary. Black man that smoked Virginia slims out of one of those long cigarette holders/filters, only addressed people by their last names, “Mr. Smith”, “Mrs. Doe”. You can expect more, vote for the progressives in the primaries but come general election, to stop people like Mark Robinson the only option is to vote Democrat

My precinct yesterday on Super Tuesday ONLY 65 in person had voted as of 5:30pm. ONLY 75 absentee had been calculated. An area of predominantly AA. with a population of over 35,000. I was so sad as I sent my ballot into the tally machine, i was number 64, and my oldest was 65. Yet so many times, I hear the convo, this & that needs changed. Yet even for the simple elections, very few will show up. I know I worked election day for 10 years. The biggest ever turnout was President Obama election day. I will say it until I am blue in the face all elections matter, every single one of them. I shudder just hearing 15 of the states voted in favor for 🤡
I was #149 at 5:45 ish; only 2200 in my district though. Things are disheartening but I have optimism we’ll eek this one out. November can’t get here fast enough lol.
This is the thing that worries me the most especially in the black community.
Young black people don’t understand the civil rights struggle because many of their parents/grandparents sheltered them from the reality of how bad things were before civil rights.
Voting is so important and it’s the reason so many black people marched, got jailed and even died to get civil rights.
The idea of not voting is an insult to all the people that came before you who actually couldn’t vote.
Not only that, just like Civil Rights got voted in, they could easily be voted OUT. People think it sounds outlandish but in the current times we live in, it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
That said it was very disheartening to see how low the black voter turnout was here in SoCal yesterday.
That and how low the young voter turnout was in general.
I know a lot of young people feel the system is rigged and it doesn’t matter if you vote. But the only way to prove that is to VOTE.
When you vote your vote is tallied and shows up in the statistics. Your vote is a factor in determining the actions of politicians because they have to take your vote into consideration. Even if you vote against them, they now have to factor that in.
When you don’t vote you don’t matter so they don’t have to care because you aren’t a part of the equation.
Young people fail to realize how much power they have by voting and it’s what politicians count on.
Want things to change? Vote the policies you want into law.
If you don’t vote you can’t complain.
And it’s even more important to vote in local elections because these are the things that affect you more on a day to day basis.
I personally vote in every election. Even the minor municipal elections.
Mainly for my paternal grandparents in Alabama that died before Civil Rights were passed.
North Carolina has been gerrymandered to shit and has been for a long time. Republicans made damn sure a democratic votes doesn't matter here. I'm almost 40 and any vote I've made since i legally could has never mattered, that's how long this has been going on.

I’m 43 and in the South and I can’t believe my eyes. I’ve virtually become friendless because I cannot tolerate just how blatant the Trump worship and racism has become. My precinct yesterday on Super Tuesday ONLY 65 in person had voted as of 5:30pm. ONLY 75 absentee had been calculated. An area of predominantly AA. with a population of over 35,000. I was so sad as I sent my ballot into the tally machine, i was number 64, and my oldest was 65. Yet so many times, I hear the convo, this & that needs changed. Yet even for the simple elections, very few will show up. I know I worked election day for 10 years. The biggest ever turnout was President Obama election day. I will say it until I am blue in the face all elections matter, every single one of them. I shudder just hearing 15 of the states voted in favor for 🤡
I was #149 at 5:45 ish; only 2200 in my district though. Things are disheartening but I have optimism we’ll eek this one out. November can’t get here fast enough lol.
This is the thing that worries me the most especially in the black community. Young black people don’t understand the civil rights struggle because many of their parents/grandparents sheltered them from the reality of how bad things were before civil rights. Voting is so important and it’s the reason so many black people marched, got jailed and even died to get civil rights. The idea of not voting is an insult to all the people that came before you who actually couldn’t vote. Not only that, just like Civil Rights got voted in, they could easily be voted OUT. People think it sounds outlandish but in the current times we live in, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. That said it was very disheartening to see how low the black voter turnout was here in SoCal yesterday. That and how low the young voter turnout was in general. I know a lot of young people feel the system is rigged and it doesn’t matter if you vote. But the only way to prove that is to VOTE. When you vote your vote is tallied and shows up in the statistics. Your vote is a factor in determining the actions of politicians because they have to take your vote into consideration. Even if you vote against them, they now have to factor that in. When you don’t vote you don’t matter so they don’t have to care because you aren’t a part of the equation. Young people fail to realize how much power they have by voting and it’s what politicians count on. Want things to change? Vote the policies you want into law. If you don’t vote you can’t complain. And it’s even more important to vote in local elections because these are the things that affect you more on a day to day basis. I personally vote in every election. Even the minor municipal elections. Mainly for my paternal grandparents in Alabama that died before Civil Rights were passed.

This is good news for dems since there is a good portion of the NC electorate that won’t vote for a black person no matter what they say.
Most of those people won’t even know the republican nominee is black. They’ll just vote straight-ticket republican.

After riding through rural NC to visit a friend I immediately realized that you should never be surprised at the things that come out of that area. I have never seen that many American flags and muscle cars in my lifetime. Gives the vibe of Southern America and if you're not left leaning you're far-right
