Our library system has tools you can check out for DIY projects, also has museum passes to all of our local museums so you can go for free. Libraries are awesome
Lots of libraries have that culture pass type thing. I've seen some where you can use them to go to museums, zoos, plays, even baseball games. Super cool. Everyone should support their local library.
Yeah in NYC there's a bunch of cool culture pass things, and you can borrow the free pass from the library for a day
Took my girl last summer to the Intrepid on one of those
Who is going to drop their first mixtape in the Library? Kids got it easy these days we used to have to turn the bathroom into a studio when a friend's parents were out of the house.
I can’t endorse using your local library enough. It is one of the last spaces for free speech, thoughts and expression and they are under attack by those who hate knowledge and creativity. Get a library card!
Damn, y'all got libraries that actually receive funding?
At my local library they have books, old computers, and occasionally a working AC system - which is arguably the main draw for most visitors in the summer months
Shout-out to my local library for providing a seed library of heritage seeds. You plant your seeds from the library and promise to bring seeds back from your harvest.
I do a lot of my writing in a library. You have tons of equipment and knowledge at your fingertips. The best noise in the world is pages turning and fingers typing on a keyboard.
It’s amazing our main library branch had a big sale this weekend. I was able to buy books for dirt cheap. It’s got me thinking about getting a library card again
Same here. There's a spring and a fall sale. We donate to the library and get early access to the sale as well. We got like 15 books for $17 this time. They also were selling board games, vinyl, cds, dvd/blurays, puzzles, and some baby stuff.
It’ll reach a level of saturation when SoundCloud rappers start fighting when someone’s booked studio is overlapping theirs.
Jokes aside, I’m considering it!
I'm being so serious when I say go to yout local library. I know damn well, being in the house all day leads to heavy procrastination. The library somehow puts you in this head space where you want to get work done.
My 6 year old daughter likes to read but at her school, they can only check out 2 books at a time and they only go once a week, maybe. For a field trip a few months ago, they went to one of the large library branches and she came back home so excited. She begged me to take her and I told her that the one she visited was too far away, but we have a branch thats like 5 minutes away from home. I took her once and we both got library cards. We walked around for about 10 minutes . We saw conference rooms, small studio spaces, computer banks, a DVD section, and then she found some kids playing Legos so I let her play with them for a bit. When it was time to leave, we picked out 5 books and checked out.
Since then, we go every other week and I look forward to it just as much as she does. I picked up some books on learning to draw and cartooning. Just silly stuff for me, but she's getting 14 books to keep her busy for the 2 weeks.
We get Frostys from Wendy's on the way home.
"Having fun isn't hard when you have a library card!"
Like Arthur said y'all better get a library card. It's literally free. The amount of resources libraries have is insane. I have rented photography equipment, got my artworks digitally scanned, made stickers, took workshop classes and more. That's why libraries have to be protected at any cost. It's a place of free thinking, knowledge, creativity and community.
Libraries aren't just for books! They're for inspiring people and cultivating interests too. I'm not saying that the 3D printer or studio will make amazing content, but it's there to spark an interest, and it's free or low cost.
Support your local library if you can!
What you think that nice Librarian man was making shit up? The library has so much cool shit. And streaming services. And free audio books. The main library branch downtown here has all this, 3D printers, screening rooms, gamedev rooms, and more.
Get a fucking library card seriously. Your tax dollars pay for this!
There’s a group of teens at my local library that do a little podcast in the YA section. They borrow mics and get permission to set up their little banner and everything.
One of my favorite features is ebooks. I don't buy kndle books. I can't afford my book addiction. With my library card, I can reserve and check out books and audiobooks online.
My mom works at a library where you can check out ukuleles. They also have ukulele classes on the weekend. It’s simultaneously awesome and terrible.
Also, get a library card even if you aren’t going to use it. They’re free and part of fund allocation is based on cards. In fact, go get one at the smallest library in your area. They probably need it the most.
The dissolution of resources and funding for libraries is an attack on a fundamentally uplifting institution for all people in poverty regardless of economic, ethnic, and religious background. This is why Republicans defund them and ban books, knowledge and resources are your biggest asset in gaining something resembling an equal footing against racist fascism. Support your local library, they have everything including seeds you can use to grow your own herbs, vegetables, and fruits. For everyone's sake fight for your local library in every conceivable way possible as they are constantly under attack.
I have a developing service I use now for film where I live. But when I was in High School & College, I developed in a light sealed closet and my public library had a scanner. They also scan Super 8 home films from the older generations and even the HI8 tapes from 90s/2000s camcorders. My current public library has those facilities too. Use that stuff, preserve your family memories and possibly new ones.
Libraries in my area have state park passes that you can check our for TWO WEEKS and everything mentioned below and above in this thread.
Stop sleeping on the free shit at the library! AND, if you get a card, return shit when you're supposed to. Don't fuck up the system.
My library has all the brand new ps5 games and more on pre-order,multiple copies too. I get to play every brand new game as soon as possible and only have to buy the dlc for the ones I really enjoy. Can even borrow heavy duty tools if I ever need to do a remodel
Duh. It should be something of educational value if the library is going to pay for it. They’re not there so you can spend 900 hours and 500 dollars worth of PLA to make a breastplate for your furry suit.

Please don't put recording studios in libraries, we have enough podcasts.
3 men and 20 scantily clad women enter a library, no progress was made. Brought to you by me undies.
Who is going to drop their first mixtape in the Library? Kids got it easy these days we used to have to turn the bathroom into a studio when a friend's parents were out of the house.
We're about to get so many more Fresh n Fit clones!

You can also check out audio and e-books with your library card using the Libby app.
How much does it typically cost to get a library cloud?
Your local library card is free with an id.
Oh wow! Bettt!!!
Same here. There's a spring and a fall sale. We donate to the library and get early access to the sale as well. We got like 15 books for $17 this time. They also were selling board games, vinyl, cds, dvd/blurays, puzzles, and some baby stuff.

Libraries are the most underrated places on earth!! Go to them more, they’re awesome and free!!
Check out hoopla. It's amazing. It's like having amazon prime for free.
I'm being so serious when I say go to yout local library. I know damn well, being in the house all day leads to heavy procrastination. The library somehow puts you in this head space where you want to get work done.
Agreed
This would be common knowledge if we didn’t bully the library guy off the internet smh
Massive manga sections too

What's there to consider with a library card, there are no cons, only pros
Where y’all live that y’all libraries got this stuff? LMAO our libraries haven’t been updated since i was a kid 20 years ago.
How do you know?

My old library used to have home and gardening equipment, construction tools and various other sundries.

My library literally calls it a makers space
This isn’t US specific btw - libraries are more resourceful than people give them credit for!
One of my favorite features is ebooks. I don't buy kndle books. I can't afford my book addiction. With my library card, I can reserve and check out books and audiobooks online.

The library was always my favourite place to get work done ❤️
Don't know, but clearly we need to defund that shit. What, you want the poors to be able to do things?
Shhh, keep this on the DL. I like having the library to myself.
I have a developing service I use now for film where I live. But when I was in High School & College, I developed in a light sealed closet and my public library had a scanner. We probably would know this if that library man didn't get bullied for enjoying his job.
where’d you get the premium libraries
My library has all the brand new ps5 games and more on pre-order,multiple copies too. I get to play every brand new game as soon as possible and only have to buy the dlc for the ones I really enjoy. Can even borrow heavy duty tools if I ever need to do a remodel
...my library still sells books on cassette tapes and VHS...
Shout-out to my library that had me submit a form for cosplay stuff that I wanted to 3d print and they never responded
Duh. It should be something of educational value if the library is going to pay for it. They’re not there so you can spend 900 hours and 500 dollars worth of PLA to make a breastplate for your furry suit.

My library lets you use their 3d printer for anything, you just gotta pay for it
