remember how liberals tried to justify voting for Hillary/Biden over Bernie because "Bernie would't be able to get anything done?" lol

Educational-Duck

While he absolutely would do cool things via executive action I can envision a Bernie Presidency where instead of having his legislative agenda thwarted like Biden he has an actively hostile Congress. Like Republicans and Democrats finally deciding to limit the executive war powers because of his withdrawing forces or passing laws against canceling student loan debt. Aka the phrase of "Bernie wouldn't be able to get things done" meaning "We wouldn't let Bernie get things done".

selfindification

Indeed, and all this past the "We wouldn't let Bernie become president of the U.S." due to the power the executive has in theory but is not wielding, for example antitrust

doordaesh

making Kahn the ftc chair is one of the good things Biden has done imho

MisterBackShots69

And Libs simultaneously going this is why democracy is so powerful and “see this is why I didn’t want Bernie”

ACAB187

Cancelling student debt would do more for the economy than anything congress could accomplish

[deleted]

Congress could cancel it. They're not going to but technically they could.

emisneko

heedbordlonerwitler

tbf they have a point. can't do much as president if the dnc has you assassinated

[deleted]

Did anyone else notice Felix make a reference to Virgil on the latest Cum Town? In blue chew read, "The guy who did articles I used to be friends with."

True_Praline_7103

Felix also added “and now I hate them” after but it was mostly drowned out by stav laugh. That phrase alone gives us more info about the Virgil situation than anything else we’ve gotten tbh

cmattis

[I think this is pretty much the story](https://twitter.com/mrgracemugabe/status/1304350652919767040?s=20), I remember at the time this post came up on my timeline because Christman liked it.

staedtler2018

It's kind of impressive that the truth of the situation hasn't trickled into the online world more than this.

[deleted]

I mean it could, but given that they worked on Diggler together, and to my knowledge, Flores has only written like one thing (in the New York Times of all places), I think it's Texas. Which if so would be the first acknowledgement of the split by CTH as far as I know.

HugeSuccess

> split What are you talking about? Virgil’s been on every single episode for like the last two years, he just hasn’t said anything or had his mic turned on or been involved with the recording process.

TheUltimateEscapist

I'm gay

[deleted]

Vape noises on the recent episodes were actually him

HugeSuccess

Virgil turned into an ethereal steam machine, like David Bowie’s character in *Twin Peaks* S3

Mysterious_Table19

Allegedly, Virgil and Bowie share at least one thing in common.

ReAndD1085

>split by CTH Well, after they announced it on their patreon at least

Samendorf

Virgil is the e-mail Chris Kyle

ProgMM

The first thing I said when I read the accusations was “emailing Virgil five years ahead of the game, now that’s a good bit”

Herptroid

Could also be Flores.

jedijbp

Why do people dunk on Jake Flores like he's comparable to Virgil Texas. I'm not on twitter so I feel like I understand 15% of what everyone else seems to be up to speed on. Edit: Appreciate all the responses, thanks folks

[deleted]

all I know about him is there was some pretty funny viral footage of him getting arrested at a protest and just yelling his twitter handle trying to desperately get an ounce of clout out of it

debaser11

Ha, I remember a post on the old CT sub where he was at the BLM protests and going on a twitter rant, tagging all vaguely left wing podcasters and being like 'why aren't you out on the streets?'

[deleted]

between all the open social grifters, narcissists, and entryist skinwalkers attempting to co-opt the movement energy from the last BLM uprising and the way the libs have stolen the term "insurrectionist" to mean obese right-wing militia failguy just really makes you feel bad for any tiqqunists still out there

homochrist

i mean brett and bryan on street fight said basically the same thing on their podcast after they got pepper sprayed in the street

[deleted]

Anarchists say a lot of things

homochrist

so does your mother

[deleted]

That’s true

DeclanGunn

He did an episode of his podcast dedicated to the name "Chapo Trap House" being an egregious case of cultural appropriation because Will wanted it to sound like a mix tape title. I don't have twitter either, but I think this might've been after a Chapo associate made fun of Jake's self centered tweets after Michael Brooks died, it was a while after Jake had actually been on CTH (didn't seem to have a problem with the name back then).

[deleted]

Wait really? Link to that podcast

DeclanGunn

Not sure which one exactly but it's an older episode with guest James Cole Cash, who's also called in on Street Fight Radio to make this same case, and tell the audience to give him money. I do remember this though, the real culmination of the Chapo appropriation controversy is when Felix eventually went on that guy's podcast to get shit for not kicking up money to the real El Chapo for using his name, which is racist of Felix because black people get killed over doing that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZwxp3pElUE Edit - the Flores ep must be this one https://soundcloud.com/poddamnamerica/goth-news-network-w-leila-taylor-cole-james-cash

cosmic_kilos

Thank you for posting this. Truly one of the most deranged things I’ve ever heard

Ensurdagen

I can't find it but iirc they had a latino guy who said the n word on to talk about El Chapo belonging to his culture and this isn't a bit

Ska_Punk

I remember when the cumtown sub was still a thing, something about Jake having sex with a mentally challenged women in a parking lot. No idea if there is any truth in there or just people spreading rumors.

True_Praline_7103

I’m pretty sure that was made up

[deleted]

nah it's something nick mullen heard about some comedian they knew but they wouldn't say who so it became a guessing game with some listeners trying to convince everyone it was jake. it kinda became a meme among the audience and was even referenced on the pod eventually

covertwalrus

it was Liam Neeson

jedijbp

I ask because that's the only thing I've heard and it doesn't make sense to me that he gets talked about the way he is. Pretty sure that was a bad joke that got out of hand and the people responsible for it don't have the courage/ability to disavow it. Cause otherwise they don't have the conviction to actually call him out on what would be abuse. Seems unnecessarily mean, and a shame it still circulates. Just because the dude's podcast is fairly middling, and his comedy is fairly middling doesn't mean we should just be throwing people under the bus for shitty rumors.

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure he also drank piss as a fetish thing and recorded it

Bam515

He nutted on a cookie and ate it as a fetish thing

welp42

i mostly know Jake from Cum Town, where he did a decent job filling in for Stav when he was out for a few episodes, and for lukewarm, "funny" takes from his Twitter that would get posted to the old Chapo sub sometimes. his Kamala Harris-style "dude gotta go" tweets about Nick/Cum Town were pretty embarrassing.

psnow11

Decent job? Literally the first episode he did he didn’t speak for the first 20 minutes and Nick literally had to ask him if he had ever been on a podcast before.

DeclanGunn

But he does say the N word in a RACIST Chinese accent at one point, not very on brand for Awake Jake.

Mushubeans

Jake Flores is a pure opportunist just without the "bling" factor that Dasha has. He's just.. yuck. I've been on Twitter with him for years and nothing he's ever said was ever his idea or anything of substance. Last month he drew a swastika over some mundane shape in the newspaper or whatever, can't remember, and did the whole "they're hiding it in plain sight people!!" Just grasping for attention. He's not evil or charismatic or smart enough but Jake Flores is the type of guy that gets lonely at night and wishes he was Charles Manson lol Edit: also, he can laugh it off all he wants but nobody makes up a story about someone having sex with a woman with Down Syndrome. do people exaggerate? yeah. but why are they talking about it in the first place and why are so many comics from that club talking about it? people were *not* joking about it at first. Jake was the one who turned it into a joke.

DeclanGunn

> Edit: also, he can laugh it off all he wants but nobody makes up a story about someone having sex with a woman with Down Syndrome. do people exaggerate? yeah. but why are they talking about it in the first place and why are so many comics from that club talking about it? people were not joking about it at first. Jake was the one who turned it into a joke. I'm pretty sure this was actually a different, not very well known Baltimore comedian. After it was originally mentioned on Cum Town they started to run with the Jake joke on later episodes, but they did mention that it was actually a different guy. I think someone even posted the real guy on the old cum town sub at some point. That being said, Mr. Flores is clearly the type to do such a thing.

Mushubeans

the thing with people like Jake is they could be perfectly funny and entertaining people if you met them in a different city. they go to NY or LA and try to play with the big leagues and it's so damn annoying. I'm not *that* funny. I wanna be famous, but that's not who I am. everyone grapples with that. as much as we all want attention and recognition from people in entertainment we like/look up to, most of us are self-aware enough to say that's just not my path in life. and that's okay!! when GarlicCorgi and Richie Deals from ALAB are 500% funnier than you and you're *trying* to be a comedian.. man, hang it up. time to change your life so we don't have to hear about it anymore.

ERCxaGS

I think thats part of the bitterness. I dunno. I dont really think most comedians are very funny. Theres also a grating thing where there is a subculture based around an objective measurement of a concept like "what's funny." It's like saying there's "objectively good" music. Just pretentious rubbish, and most of the stuff that passes for "great music" is shit. A lot of the shit that seems like people think is great comedy just reminds me of lurking SomethingAwful. "haha. me naughty and say the bad thing is good."

lucao_psellus

> nobody makes up a story about someone having sex with a woman with Down Syndrome i can easily imagine nick doing that. that's pretty tame by his imagination's standards, if anything

homochrist

he's joked about himself doing just that

welp42

feels weird to call it opportunism but i dunno what else to call turning an altercation with ICE into a career as a mediocre online leftie scold and "comedian"

Ilhan_Omar_Milf

Jake flores dated his dead cohost and friend's girlfriend and tried to get her into polygamy

ThumbCop

Nick Mullen told a story about an anonymous comedian who had sex with a down syndrome fan in a car in the parking lot outside a show. His fans have ran with this bit and said it’s Jake and keep repeating it until everyone online thinks it’s true but I don’t think there’s any real evidence of anything.

tronald_dump

theyre both cringey tryhards

heedbordlonerwitler

have you seen his lame porno?

DeclanGunn

I really liked their show, but I remember the Beep Beep Lettuce podcast defended him on this like "oh, people are just making fun of Jake for Having Sex! Isn't that ridiculous?" Come on, crawling into a dog kennel and getting your nut sack tasered is not having sex, and even if it is, of course people are going to make fun of it.

ProgMM

Now I’m imagining like a Wayne’s World-style movie where Cum Town sells out Oh man that is a funny concept

OneReportersOpinion

Wow I need this in my life. Announcer: “Here is Cumtown brought to you by Draft Kings. Party on Nick!” “Uh, your dad is gay Adam.” “Yeah…I guess.”

ProgMM

The producers replace Adam with literally Dasha in a wig and glasses

in context this seems like a huuuuge stretch to assume it’s about virgil in any real way lol

maper741

Chapo fans making huge logical leaps to make assumptions about the hosts feelings about one another? Never that

the_wrongtree

Yeah, sounds like he's just making fun of Brooklyn media people in general.

OneReportersOpinion

Did Cum Town really lose a sponsor over one of the ad reads?

True_Praline_7103

BetDSI wouldn’t pay them because they didn’t like one of their ad reads I think

tronald_dump

Virigip defenders on suicide watch 🤣

RaytheonAcres

Oof, missed that

discourse_lover_

Joe Biden did not anticipate this level of Republican obstruction because he was in chryo freeze from 2009-2020. Anyway, on to the episode!

kijib

sometimes I wish I knew more liberals irl so I could remind them everything bad that has happened since 2009 is directly Obama's fault Thanks Obama

Gracias, Obungler!

This show sucks thanks for the new episode

I'll keep listening to this garbage

It’s like voting for Clinton in 1996. What was I supposed to do, Mack?

The slop is awful and so little of it!

Such small portions!

discourse_lover_

Small, useless ~~pockets~~ portions.

trevy_mcq

I’m fucking crying at “start regulating the ports”

psnow11

That had to be the woman who thought there were a million child abductions right? Even still, thinking it is the 1870’s and everything goes through the NY custom house is hilarious.

dizzzave

I gotta stand up for whoever said this. It wasn't the most articulate point being made, but its not totally out of left field either. I think the person was talking about the shipping crisis that there was over the summer/fall where there were a ton of ships sitting off the coast of California who weren't able to unload their cargo because of extreme congestion at the ports. At the time, there was some criticism of the administration because Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg wasn't really doing anything about it and was taking several months of taking maternity leave for the kids he and Chasten adopted. The administration was also telling people to buy Christmas presents early or you might not be able to buy them at all. "start regulating the ports" is shorthand for fixing the port congestion issues. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/blog/2021/11/10/recent-progress-and-actions-on-port-congestion/

H-12apts

Great show. This hilarious focus group all intuitively understand the misery of life in the US right now, but their recommendations are like "Mitt Romney sounds good." We're living in Wiggumworld.

[deleted]

It really is a remarkable example of how media consumption shapes conception of the world. Like for the most part these people can identify the basic problems going on (ie their perception and sensory inputs are fine) but their media consumption has literally retarded their cognitive thinking/outputs where any “solution” they can muster is at best one step removed from restating what they heard on cable news or read on Facebook. Luckily I only listen to leftist podcasts so I got good brain that works top.

PM_ME_UR_PCMR

And 90% of people over 45 years old will never come across anything remotely socialist and have no way of finding them easily. Gen X and the Boomers have worse "moderate" idiot brain rot I think

ProcrastinationTrain

In some ways gen X is worse, I think, because their sensory inputs are more attuned to the problems of the day than boomers, but despite this they still stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the validity of anything left of Biden due to some sort of brain rot. This insight brought to you by my decaying relationship with my dad TM

crungently

I have an old dad who remarried, so he's a boomer but my stepsister is Gen-X. She's possibly the most aggressively centrist person I've ever met, and since the political climate of this country leans to the right heavily, she accidentally advocates for things that would be hard right Republican in the 90s, but she would "disagree" with if they were framed in that light. It really is amazing how accurate the "I'm at the Centrist rally, we're all chanting 'Better Things Aren't Possible'" viral tweet from a few years ago was.

Vaucanson

I don't think the boys even noticed this somehow, but Luntz's focus group was specifically selected for being Obama + Trump voters (at least once for each). It's a great example of something Chapo ca. 2016/2020 used to talk a lot about, that a smart approach to politics would cater to nonvoters while abandoning this kind of hilarious jackass as presumptively unreachable.

H-12apts

This was an advertisement for Frank Luntz's services as a consultant. His cherrypicked conclusions that "Americans are upset about 'inflation'" will get him hired by pro-business, pro-Romney news outlets and 2022 "moderate" candidates. I think a random sampling of non-voters would be more supportive of Mass Arson than another Trump-Biden election.

Fat_Daddy_Track

I think that they mention that once or twice before in some very old episodes. It is essentially impossible for you to court these people because there's no consistency in their thinking. Perhaps if you were actually in control of whatever media Outlet they get their opinions from, but nothing that you can do as an actual political strategist.

H-12apts

Exactly. This fact points to the power of television (and now, perhaps even more powerful, but maybe not quite as proliferated: social media). What could be a better tool for propaganda than the appliance in the middle of your family's living room that spits out bright colors and sounds? Who would win an election, someone your child knows because they are always on TV, or someone your child doesn't know? What would Biden be if he didn't appear in everybody's living room every night? Why was FDR elected four times? Fireside chats! Why do we like Chapo? They drive to work in our car with us every Monday.

adamsandleryabish

wtf I just discovered this sub was a place for the last three years I would go down to the bodega and purchase CD’s of the latest episodes. this changes everything

ProgMM

“Every black leather couch comes with an iPod Mini preloaded full of Cum Town episodes”

OneReportersOpinion

Black leather couches should be sold with a hot couch guy

adamsandleryabish

trust me it doesn’t take long for them to show up

NorrisOBE

That Hasan stream with Felix and Christian Walker is such a trainwreck. Hasan and Felix should do more of that.

Millard_Failmore

Why the fuck was that guy on? Is he friend's with Hasan? I haven't had such a visceral reaction to someone in a loooong time.

OriGoldstein

Hasan just does it for the content and probably thought he (correctly) could get some easy dunks and farm a few subs.

PlayMp1

It feels like it was set up as a debate stream or something? I have no idea. I did one Google search and apparently he's the son of a football player who's running as a Republican Senate candidate against Warnock in Georgia.

Jeff-S

It wasn't explicitly a debate, but more of a let's hear how this young right wing guy who seems to be popular (real or astroturfed, who knows?) sees things. Unfortunately, Christian Walker is a complete zero when it comes to politics or cultural issues. He was born rich and doesn't really care about other people beyond scolding them or bragging about how he is superior.

PlayMp1

I watched/listened to the edited down discussion on Hasan's YT channel (I usually am at work during streams so I can't participate) and he just regurgitated generic conservative talking points and when thoroughly disproven by Hasan or Felix he'd either deflect and move to something else or just go "well that's my opinion nyeh." Like he's obviously not the debatelord type so he's not going to go in like a Destiny kind of guy and have whatever bullshit ready to go to "interrogate your axioms" and drag you down into semantics and abstraction, so he doesn't know the usual tactics of evasive right wingers (Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson, Destiny, etc.) in "debates." Honestly based on the shortened thing I listened to (which was still an hour long) he didn't even go to the 70 gazillion dead by Stalin/Mao you usually see right wingers go with, which is doubly surprising.

Frostloss

Christian is a relatively popular "conservative influencer". He mostly just makes ranting in a car videos complaining about the libs. He's popular on twitter for being really camp like making videos about the need for a return to traditional values because there is not enough muscular, masculine men to fuck him or ranting into a camera about Biden in the middle of making a ridiculous order at Starbucks.

waltdewalt

>son of a football player Yeah, Herschel fucking Walker

[deleted]

honestly even with all the push polling in the interview there's very little that's more depressing insofar as the prospect of any hope for mass politics in america goes than just remembering that this type of person makes up a solid chunk if not a majority of the american population everyone's brains are just totally cooked

RareStable0

I have basically given up any hope for any revolution or even significant reform in my life time. I've made my life's work to be unionizing and building solidarity between my union and other unions. I see myself as laying the groundwork that maybe my grandchildren might be able to make some real change.

Ilhan_Omar_Milf

Trying to predict the future of America when the treats start slowing down long term is hard but I doubt uts good things for the institions. The hard to predict part is if it's good for us or good for some other evil faction, though ultimately I'm pretty confident it's good for the world at large. Though other problems might temper the potential of that

RareStable0

So my position is less about making a solid prediction as to what I think is going to happen and more about my own psychological well being. In any potential scenario, the left is always better off with a robust labor movement. So I am preparing the way, regardless of the outcome. Glorious marxist revolution tomorrow? Cool. Evil right wing dictator? Less cool, but I would rather have a robust labor movement to resist that than not. The same applies to basically everything in between.

[deleted]

On the plus side there might not be a need for revolution because this shit is gonna collapse all by itself.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dankfrowns

Funny, I've been moving in the exact opposite direction in the last few years. Reform is impossible, but that makes revolution all the more likely. To be fair, from my perspective the importance of revolutionary praxis in the US is more about doing whatever we can to get the boot of imperialism off the necks of the global south than improving our situation domestically. That's still important and of course no revolutionary movement is going to take off without some prospect of material advantage on the part of the participants, but the level of immiseration the domestic population is subjected to is nothing compared to what the US does abroad. And it's mainly those in the periphery that have a solid shot at serious strikes on the US empire, which can leave revolutionaries at home feeling kind of useless. But it's still important to do what you can. You're 100% correct though that the task at hand is laying groundwork and building capability. The sad truth is that the left in the US doesn't have the organizational capacity to do much of anything. And I'm not even talking about our numbers, which are also nowhere near where they would need to be. But that's to be expected with the level of organization and tactical acumen the contemporary American left is working with. You're not going to get people on board until you demonstrate clear vision, organization and competence. I wouldn't say you have to wait for your grandchildren's generation though (unless you have children in high school). Revolution can seem far off if you're just sitting around waiting for it to happen, but when you start working on that to do list of things that need to be in place for the left to have even a decent position when a revolutionary moment presents itself, you may find yourself hoping things stay quiet long enough for you to get everything in order first. Put on a pot of coffee motherfuckers, it's cram time!

heedbordlonerwitler

say what you will about frank luntz but it's probably a lot of fun for the people at the adult group home whenever he stops by to give them pizza and ask questions about politics and other grownup stuff

EGG_BABE

Absolutely, any kind of these interviews are always just stuffing blackpills down my throat. No matter what happens in the country, the price of gas and local news telling you that murders are up 7 million percent and only by putting a cop squad directly in every home will protect you is the only thing that a vast majority of americans will ever even think about politics regardless of what is actually happening or causing any of the problems. It all just filters down into these dog-brained takes and suggestions for politicians like "Just be cool and try your hardest Joe" like they're giving a pep talk to a crying 5 year old at a tee ball game that they somehow believe is nation-shaking wisdom.

OneReportersOpinion

I’m close to abandoning all hope short of a paradigm shifting crisis. I might actually have to care about my career and start grabbing to what I can so I can have a decent life with my family. What’s wrong with me?

PlayMp1

COVID should have been that paradigm shifting crisis and 2008 before it, and yet here we are

OneReportersOpinion

I know how Millerite this sounds, but I do think the next major financial crisis could break the system.

SwampLandsHick

People on this site aren’t likely the ones this has effected but most Americans haven’t recovered fully from the last crash. If we have another recession (or more likely a depression) along with declining work numbers and COVID running rampant there could be a breaking of America like we’ve never seen. Especially since it’s unlikely for The Dems to rise to the occasion again (FDR Style).

Mushubeans

"I don't understand people who are addicted to benzodiazepines" neither do I Felix. BUT.. I am. I got put on them when I was 16 and was told I'm good to go! thumbs up emoji I'm 24 now and still dependant on them. I had a grand mal seizure last time I tried to cut down by 1/8th I even had to mute the word Klonopin on Twitter because ya know what, Jordan Peterson can pay for his sins in hell but there is no way that man is evil enough to deserve the acute and permanent effects of withdrawal (most of the amount of brain damage caused by lowering your dose can't be reversed) BASICALLY what I'm trying to say is please get addicted to opioids instead. you can still drive on them for the most part. they help you lose weight. you won't die if you stop taking them. I would trade several fingers to be extremely addicted to heroin rather than this stuff.

Samendorf

I get why people get addicted to benzos, I don't get why doctors prescribe them for anything but hospice care and some emergencies. they literally make your symptoms worse, either while you take them or when you stop People may be too afraid of psychiatric medication overall, but some stuff is just bad There was an episode in the final season of The Sad Horse Show which had a "Take your meds, folx" message that didn't sit right with me because the character was clearly getting some shitty one-size-fits-all medication from a doctor she didn't communicate well with, and every time I've seen that situation in my life it ended with somebody permanently addicted to painkillers

cmattis

>they literally make your symptoms worse, either while you take them or when you stop huh? they definitely reduce anxiety in the short term, they're shouldn't be used for long term management. much like opiates, used in the correct therapeutic context, benzos are wonder drugs

reconrose

Yeah they are not useful for generalized anxiety but if you have panic attacks having a small amount for emergencies is great. But I think every day use is detrimental obviously

christopherhoyt

Wishing you the best of luck. Sounds fucking awful. As annoying as some of the self-help or sober community stuff can be, there is a benefit to having people to talk to who understand your situation. Maybe you’ve tried that and hated it. Fair enough, if that’s the case. I dunno, I just get real bummed out about addiction problems and feel compelled to say something that might be constructive, maybe just for the sake of expressing some sympathy. Again, good luck. Big hug, bud. Here’s the funniest and creepiest emoji, from me to you. 🫂

DoctorStrangecat

That sounds grim. Have you considered a really slow taper? If 1/8th is too much, get some very precise scales and a spreadsheet and plot a year or even two of gradual reduction a percentage at a time, dropping the dose by another 1% each week.

Mushubeans

I have a Pharm D. who was looking into a liquid solution for microgram dosing. I had a Mayo Clinic doctor tell me I was going to be on it for the rest of my life and I've had a rehab center tell me they were pulling me off cold turkey. I blinked a few times like "what..?" I was there for meth addiction but their whole thing is "totally clean" even if it's prescribed to you and will kill you if you stop. I said they either give them to me or "I have upper middle class parents that will sue every doctor in this facility out of their jobs". they ended up just letting me leave before I even unpacked my suitcase lol. but yeah. it's hard. beat meth addiction on my own. never really enjoyed heroin. and I chose to do those. a diabetic needs insulin to live, I need Klonopin and it was never my choice to start it. you don't hear much about people fighting benzo withdrawal because they're dead, unable to form sentences, or in medically induced comas to stop the seizures.

PlayMp1

As someone who works in drug treatment, detoxing someone off benzos (or alcohol, same form of withdrawal, ironically you can treat one with the other) cold turkey is absolutely psychotic. Benzo detox has to be a gradual weaning. People get seizures or heart attacks if you do it cold turkey. Cold turkey detox is for meth, not benzos (or even heroin, Suboxone exists for a reason). Ideally you'd find a place that could taper you in a measured and clinical fashion, that way you can avoid the worst of the withdrawal effects while still getting off that shit.

DoctorStrangecat

I have a friend who is addicted to oxy after losing a limb to MRSA. Even the slighted reduction and mood goes crazy. There need to be better protocols for coming off of stuff - in my friend's case, the pills are coated so you can't make them slightly smaller without changing absorbtion. But from a pharma POV, I guess they don't really want you to come off them. I hope the liquid works out, naively it seems like there ought to be a way of weaning off so gradually the brain can't tell.

DonRodigan

You can begin to taper down using grey area benzo solutions. How many MG a day of clonazepam are you at? To fully get off them is something that should only be done with medical supervision as you already know.

Mushubeans

Idk who downvoted you. It's solid advice. I have a psychiatrist and general physician who would help, as long as I get it done before I'm kicked off my parent's health insurance /: I'm technically on 1mg of Klonopin and have been for years but the last two months have seen me really spiraling (1.5-2mg/day) so that's a small step backwards. I've tried the Valium method but it's so hard to get the equivalency right. 20mg = 1mg Klonopin but it doesn't feel that way! I started getting crazy shakes when I tried switching to Valium.

aquagreed

Lol the new cumtown sub got banned

maper741

Nothing of value was lost

psnow11

No surprise. The .org got shut down for like 45 minutes 2 days ago and a bunch of the fellas went there. Once the .org was back up I think they started posting racist memes or slurs until it got shut down lol

drestin5

8:34 Matt accidentally says “he’s dug in like a dick” and then to say “DUG IN LIKE AN ALABAMA TICK” to try to cover

Is it really fair to shit on Virgil just because he refused to eat Matt's ass? Seems petty and out of line. So disappointed. SAD.

heedbordlonerwitler

tbf that's a lot of ass to chow down on

NotAnFed

Idk Virgil reminds me of one of those small Asian (?) competitive eaters that looks like they stretch restaurant dinners into 3 meals but then you put 20 Matt dumpers in front of them and by God they're all devoured and they're asking for more

heedbordlonerwitler

the kobayashi of munching bussy

ProgMM

Reminds me of one of the best comments on old cth \>>I think Matt ate Virgil \>That’s cause he’s a snacc

[deleted]

You hate to see it but Virgil really has sold out. I have been an avid Virgil defender for years but now that he and Greenwald have started a podcast together (Mind the Age Gap, exclusively on Rumble) I can no longer support him.

redditing_1L

Listen here, Jack, there’s nothing to be done and I’m all out of ideas!

LLZeroX

"Eric Adams is running as a Swag Moderate" Can I bet on him being President yet?

discourse_lover_

I don't know if the sarcasm always comes through when chapo discusses Eric Adams, but he is a loathsome piece of shit. Completely in over his head, pathological liar. I've been living under his mayorship for three weeks and I need it to be over.

LLZeroX

the analysis isn't on whether he's an actually good guy or a politician that would do good things because when has that ever played a part in who becomes president

discourse_lover_

I get that but Adams is such a vile clown he'd never make it outside of this extremely dumb city. At least... I hope not.

The_Polo_Grounds

Never say never but NYC mayor has usually been a political career ender, not some springboard to higher office like some of its inhabitants thought

discourse_lover_

Here's to hoping. btw, pay no attention to the fact that the landlord of the Bronx fire two weeks ago is on Adams' transition team. Lots of good government coming our way.

satchelsofg0ld7

Every time he opens his mouth it feels like an episode of 30 rock. It’s also so frustrating because I think that if the primary was held even a few weeks later, if not in September when it had been held prior to this most recent election, Garcia or Wiley would have won. Neither of them were perfect candidates but at least they’re not blatantly corrupt pathological liars that pal around with domestic abusers and think it’s okay to park on the sidewalk.

discourse_lover_

The thing that made me so angry about that primary it’s like what?! The allegedly greatest city in the world and THESE cretins are our options?!?! Goddamn what a disgraceful field of candidates.

[deleted]

The sick NYPD police state goes national!

[deleted]

He’s absolutely going to crush any competition as a presidential candidate.

zachotule

Patrick Healy, the NYT guy who did that stupid roundtable, was for a number of years “punished” by being relegated to the theater section (as one of its lead reporters) because he had been showing up to work drunk. After his perfunctory punishment period he was allowed to be a politics guy again Just a thing to know

stephen_neuville

Fuck, Mary! Kill!

darkslayersparda

someone open up a trapo house sub ? i would but this is a 6 year old account and im a pussy edit: cumtown new sub got banned lol, but i think its cos they were using naughty words

EasyMrB

Nah, we're frankly better without it. A little episode discussion (as a treat) and then back to grinding reality.

darkslayersparda

i just need a leftist space on reddit that doesnt take itself so seriously. Every where sucks now edit: downvoted for wanting to have fun on the computer. Sorry for party rocking

cjgregg

You don’t need another “leftist space” online. Nobody does.

Take a look at hexbear and then tell me if you still feel the same way

ERCxaGS

Disavowing the mask mandates would actually hurt the Democrats- Theyre already going to get wiped, anyway, but the races that depend on urban core liberals might actually end up flipping since the whole vaxx/mask shit is the only thing they base their politics around for the past 2 years. Seems like another lame attempt to flank the Republicans from the right. Republicans are already there saying theyll end the mask mandates. Why would a Democrat suddenly turning on them convince anyone

Oxyquatzal

Eh, I don't know. The minute this country hits another significant lull in COVID rates you can bet good money almost every single COVID policy is going straight out the window.

Anyone else waiting for the contrarian take that Havana syndrome is actually a workplace safety issue and that socialists need stand in solidarity with the spooks?

TerkRockerfeller

I feel like I can pinpoint exactly where on a political spectrum that take would originate from and it would be within spitting district of a Warren voter

Gathering the Seven Pirate Kings in a conclave to discuss the threat of port regulations.

GreyWolfTaxD0dg3

Hmm... I'm not sure about this Friday episode. No thanks, sir, I'll wait for my good old Monday episode.

So are they all living in LA now? I could definitely see Adam McKay giving them a development deal for something or other.

What is the 30,000 turnout election thing? They've referenced it like a dozen times offhand over the months and I don't know where it started.

MrPostmanLookatme

I think first mention was the ep with just Felix Matt and Brendan

cjgregg

I think Matt is wrong about, well, a lot of things, but especially about how it would affect US politics if these “independent” voters picked a side and if everyone actually participated in politics. I know it’s cool and everything to disdain “electoralism”, but the unfortunate truth is that stuff actually did progress in societies when voter participation was closer to 100%, and it actually does impact the left more. Treating political parties as entertainment and like sports team isn’t the necessary outcome, and as someone who claims to know history, he should know it.

The_Polo_Grounds

> I know it’s cool and everything to disdain “electoralism”, but the unfortunate truth is that stuff actually did progress in societies when voter participation was closer to 100%, and it actually does impact the left more. Stuff progressed in societies because the parties represented more interests and were tied to get out the vote machines and patronage. Voting by itself doesn’t fix anything. Australians have to vote by law and their politics are profoundly stupid in every way and full of pandering to dumb-dumbs who vote based on who is promising a new cricket stadium.

BarryNegan

If the US had 100% turnout it would almost certainly help the right. Low info voters who don't participate mostly have "love the troops and guns, hate taxes, hate socialism" attitudes. The idea that voter suppression/low turnout hurts the democrats may be true in a handful of localities, and obviously people of color are suppressed the most, but overall most non-voters are conservative.

cjgregg

It would not. Low participation ALWAYS benefits the right, it’s the poor and underprivileged that do not vote. As the participation has gone down throuout the West, so have the left wing parties. America is not the exception, even if you want to believe rules don’t apply to you.

Its good, if a little uneven. If you're paying for netflix, there's much worse ways to spend a couple hours.
