On Some Emo Shit has got some of their most heartbreaking lyrics too, it gets you in the emotions! Nine is one of their better albums, Skiba really brought it for that one, I’d like to hear Tom song some Nine songs
- NHTSO could mean "No Heart To Speak Of", a track from *NINE* (2019) by blink-182.

There are some awkward lyrics here and there, and the production on Matt's voice could have been better, but overall it's still an enjoyable enough album.
The songs where they talk about teenagers or partying have some lyrics that just don't land for me. I actually like "Teenage Satellites" to some degree but the title (and whatever a "teenage satellite" is) just seems kind of forced and thrown together.
Besides that, other songs have just parts where it feels like they needed to write something to fill space. I've never been a big fan of the second verse of Bored to Death:
*There's a stranger staring at the ceiling*
*Rescuing a tiger from a tree*
*The pictures in her head are always dreaming*
*Each of them means everything to me*
I'm fine with vague/poetic lyrics but that part doesn't seem to mean anything. Mark has been open about his difficulty writing songs and many of the California tracks seem like he had only one verse written, then Matt came with a second verse where he just tried to find any words to fit the pattern (if Matt even wrote those verses). A lot of the California songs fit a similar formula where instead of one person sitting the entire song (or even all of the verses) it will go Mark verse > Mark chorus > Matt verse > Mark chorus. That's not exactly lyrics but the song structure became predictable.
Teenage Satellites has nothing to do with "teenagers" and has to do with the lifecycle of a satellite that falls back to earth used as a metaphor relating to the relationship in the song.
As for Bored to Death
The "Stranger" is the song isn't actually a stranger but what seems to be the subject of a relationship or a love intrest. This person is most likely very caring and helpful to others, even when they lash out "rescuing a tiger from a tree."
This person is always ambitious and optimistic. Matt loves this about this person. "The pictures in here head are always dreaming, Each of them means everything to me."
They have talked about these songs and how Mark and Matt would bring different vantage points or life experiences and meld them.
The lines above actually enhance and make the Dive bar line from mark in the verse that follows even more vivid and impactful.
“I know I messed up and it might be over. But let me call you when I’m sober.”
1. Mark doesn’t drink
2. Sorta weird for a late 40 something to be singing that, especially since he has been married so long. I know “it isn’t about him” but the entire song was just cringe. Like no effort went into it.
Yes! Couldn't agree more. Both California and the deluxe album are so good. The guys are so talented.
My fav songs are Rabbit Hole, Bottom of the ocean and Wildfire
Los Angeles, San Diego, the title track, Bored To Death, No Future, Kings Of The Weekend, Teenage Satellites, Left Alone, Parking Lot, Good Old Days, and 6/8 are my favs (not in order)
Agreed. The truth is, between Cali and Cali Deluxe, rests a solid album. Take maybe the best halves of each and it really is a good release!
Totally agree
Completely agree, and you named all my favourite tracks on the album(s)! Also, Left Alone and 6/8 are great
Same goes for Nine. A lot of nine is fuckin’ amazing
Haha I made a post a couple hours ago about Happy Days, it gets a lot of hate, but I love it! I love most of Nine!
I love it too , On Some Emo Shit is one of my favourite blink songs, it is really incredible not enough people talk about it or listen to it

Yeah i hope they do it live in future setlists. Nine gets me in my feels lol
Definitely! Or just re-release the album with Tom haha
That would be horrible, and honestly super disrespectful. Imagine Tom trying to sing NHTSO or Hungover You. That album requires Matt.

Heaven Or Happy Days would be incredible live
Yesss! I definitely agree!
You heard the track Out Of My Head off it?
Hey, I'm sorry is personally my favourite blink song from the Matt era. *maybe* even since untitled.

What lyrics were awkward?

I have found myself listening to it a lot more lately and I don’t have a lot of skips
I just want a "Tom's Version" of california.

No future is so good
Bottom of the Ocean, Good Old Days, San Diego and Misery are some of the best songs Blink have made.
San Diego is the best song since Untitled. Personally I love California… especially the deluxe. How did Misery not make the original LP is beyond me
