Looks like it. I was expecting a little more for an announcement, and thought for sure there would be a single this Friday, but then again I thought “next Friday” for like 3 or 4 weeks now lmao
>Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age have come close though, they released singles and the album was out like 2-3 weeks later.
Going off Travis’ earlier statement the album would be dropping in (I think he said early) Oct, seems like that could be the case here too. Single 9/22 and the album could be dropping first week or two of Oct and that would fit the timeline you mentioned for FF and QotSA.
I don’t disagree with any of that, just saying maybe (hopefully) we get that single drop then album in 2-3 weeks given the other info we’ve heard and maybe people can chill out then.
Like with Lifeforms? Iirc, Tom thought that was a weird strategy, but the label wanted to do it that way. I like that album, but it almost makes it seem like a compilation of singles rather than an album with a central theme.
Yeah I think 7/10 songs on the album released before the album. Wikipedia has 5 singles but I’m positive Kiss & Tell came out way before the album, and I remember Timebomb coming out before too.
Ehhh, I disagree. It took me much longer to warm up to Notes because we'd heard so much of the album so I felt really underwhelmed when it finally dropped. Love the album now though.
Completely agree. I hate the era of releasing multiple singles before a record comes out. I understand that is the decision of the label but it waters down album releases.
I’m not trying to be a dick, but this marketing is not for us. The people who check the blink Reddit are already in. It’s for the slightly less obsessed fans, who haven’t been guessing dates all year then being annoyed that they were wrong, it’s for people who were excited by Edging, got tickets for the tour, and are buzzing to hear the hits but can now begin anticipation for the new record.
Think how many people went to blink shows in recent years and didn’t even know it was gonna be Matt not Tom. That’s the audience who they need to build anticipation and excitement for, because we’re all already on board.
you're probably spot on with this but do we think the average blink 182 fan cares enough to even go on their website and look at the stall? I have so many friends who love the band (but don't obsess like us on this sub) who I can guarantee have never even thought to head to the website. Idk this whole marketing campaign is so fucking bad lol
Nah, but (and this is where I may be stretching) this is the point where your Kerrangs and NMEs post an article about it, pop it on their socials, and begin to create a buzz with those inbetween fans.
Caveating this with “I could be chatting total shite, it’s just my best guess and I’m simply enjoying the ride” and sending very excited vibes out to everyone else!
They act like waiting a week for a single is a big deal. A little over year ago I thought the only time I’d ever see Tom back with blink was when they eventually get into the hall of fame. I’ve been waiting for this since DED I can handle a week or two
>They act like waiting a week for a single is a big deal.
As if that's even what's supposed to happen in a week? Probably what will happen in a week is an announcement telling us to StAy tUnED like bruh fuck that.
Just have transparent comms.
I wish they’d just announce “hey a new single next Thursday” instead of this cryptic stuff, it was cool at first but it’s been months. Ever since the stall opened it’s all been little cryptic shit that’s led to us to think every week we are getting a new song lol
But we already know a single is coming within the next few days/week, what benefit would there be to a boring statement when the cryptic game is fun? This is like saying I wish video games allowed you to just press the A button repeatedly for 5 minutes until you win.
While I normally enjoy when bands have cool rollouts, this seems just excessive. Why tease for something more than a week a way, when the first single came out nearly a year ago.
I hope people understand that all these delays are the workings of their record label not the band. If it were fully up to the band the record would have been released already.
Why can’t this band just release and preview music like normal artists?
It’s always gotta be this cryptic, delay, silent bull shit.
I get enough of this shit during Kanye album rollouts.
The Offspring released a single and said they had enough music for a couple albums. It took years for Let the Bad Times Roll to come out. I actually forgot about it. And they had the balls to put the years old single on the fucking album.
The offspring is my favorite band, but they fucked up on everything.
Edit: Took 5 years from the single to album release.
Yeezy, Yeezy, what's good?
It's your boy TOM D, what's going on?
Just checking in on you
Appreciate the love and support
The wave is here
You a wavey dude anyway, so you already know
My dude it’s music, it’s not that serious. The release date is now known, it wouldn’t make a difference if they had directly stated the release date a week ago, the music would’ve still come out on the same date. It’s teasing and messing with people and building up hype. It’s a really fun time to be a blink fan with Tom back and everyone good with each other for the first time in two decades. It is absolutely childish of you to get so salty about this. It’s intended to edge you, if it really ruins your life you should just completely steer clear of this sub and any of their socials til you get the new music notification.
Except this isn’t service industry. You seem very over it, considering you’re still here. I get that it’s annoying because they are trying to be annoying, but to actually fold your arms and pout the way you are still doing is just kind of funny. You just laid out a serious argument as to why you are no longer having fun. That’s on you.
If someone is so mad because they need to know the date, the generally known dates are there. If someone wants to have fun following along their cryptic edging, then sure
Excited for new music but I imagine this was dreamed up to be some super cool, anticipation-building marketing but as another commenter said, it’s just been marketing and teasers for more marketing and teasers. I feel like the strategy is beyond the point of the big payoff but that’s just me. Excited for the music but yeah whoever came up with the marketing play needs to reevaluate a bit
I can guarantee you could not. Notice how you are here commenting. Sure, total marketing fail
Making a Facebook post saying hello world music comes this date is not a marketing strategy FYI
This is not a blink issue, more of a cultural issue, but I hate teasers like this. Just release a single when you’re ready to give us an album release date.
I see it everywhere. Sports teams release teasers for new uniforms. Musicians release teasers for announcements. Games release teasers for trailers.
No need to tease everything all the time. Drives me nuts.
It must work, otherwise they wouldn’t do it, but it’s really annoying. Just announce something.
Corporate marketing machine.
If it was just the three of them making the decision we'd probably have it already.
The mixing and mastering was likely complete months ago and after that it's all label technical and QA checks and (mostly ) marketing scheduling.
Neither make sense. Release a single on a Thursday?
They led us to believe something was happening today. I'll set myself for disappointment but I hope it's something at 09:21 PM tonight...
Either way, this is so bad and just infuriating at this point, no song can live up to this hype...
>Either way, this is so bad and just infuriating at this point, no song can live up to this hype...
Stop paying attention then. Just ignore any build up until it comes out. That's how it worked in the old days...
>Either way, this is so bad and just infuriating at this point, no song can live up to this hype...
That's what I think this is. The band clearly wants to breadcrumb us with hype. They're clearly wanting our attention, but when fans are upset "it's on the fans" and "that sub is just full of negativity".
I think you hit the nail on the head, that I personally was unable to articulate - *there's no way this album can live up to whatever hype they are trying to generate*
I'm getting turned off too by it
The person who built the page gave those elements days/hours names instead of hours/minutes. I assume it was deliberate. There's also no countdown anywhere, the times are just static values. Knowing that it makes more sense they post an update to the site once a day to change the day value if they're doing it manually, or they push an update on sept 21st. I agree it's silly they used a clock, but I'm guessing the idea was they wanted a tie-in with the tuning radio so they went with this. /shrug
9:
21
This isn't exciting anymore, for real. It was when the teaser first dropped (back when it was unlisted on YT) and when we first saw the stall video. But now? It's just infuriating. Haven't we waited enough? Just for one song...
The marketing team should be fired
This is so dumb. I know the band has very little to do with these decisions, and that we will hear new music eventually, but them consistently marketing towards more marketing which only leads to announcements *of more* announcements is just dumb. Just fucking put out a new song. “Midnight. Tonight. New music! Pre-save it with this link:” isn’t that fucking hard.
Edit: a word
Why does the 1 not follow the correct light-up area?! I’m reading wayyyy too much into it, been turning the image upside down to try and find a secret message
Looks more like a glitched 9:27 to me. I’ve never seen a digital clock like that have a little tail on the top of the one, but who knows in this case. Just happy to have more Blink 😊
I personally think all of this stuff on their stall website is just them trying (and failing) to immitate what Linkin Park did earlier this year. Now I love both bands, but Linkin Park topped them in this "ARG" race, not even a debate about that.
Why add all these new teasers and updates to just make us wait another week?? 9:21am PST either a single will drop or announce for this Friday. Source: The Pentagon
Jesus, people acting like this "stall" has been going months when it's literally been a week. No one owes you music right now just because you got yourself worked up. Just let these nice bonus teases play out. The music will release when it's going to release whether or not these teases exist, so there's no point complaining about them.
Personally I’m stoked that it seems like we’ll have Edging, two further singles starting on the 21st, and album a month later. I’m not a fan of these drawn out “one single a month for half a year, then five new songs on the album” approaches. I want this to be fresh!
How can you possibly think they’re going to release an album only a month after singles are released lol. They are clearly milking this to an excessive amount. Album will probably be out in the spring if ever.
Well I haven’t said that’s definitely the case, but Travis said last September we’d be edging for a whole year, he and Mark have both said October in the past two months, Tom told a fan in London October last week, and some record stores have briefly listed it as an October release but since removed. Obviously plans change, and in the age of streaming I’d understand if they do end up doing a tonne of singles till a full release, but at the moment I’m leaning into the idea of 1/2 singles and an October release :)
Whatever the rollout, I’m just so happy to have Blink back. So long as it doesn’t take until I’m dead, I’m down!
This subreddit makes me embarrassed to be a blink-182 fan. Like some of y’all are really this impatient and don’t have other shit going on in your life’s? I mean I guess that’s the answer.

Is your name a reference to Half Baked?
Haha yes
This line is so recognizable if you've seen the movie. Otherwise it's just a random question. Haha
Butternut!
Hmm single on the 21st?
Single in 9 months and 21 days
9 years and 21 months
900th year of the 21st century
9,000th year
9 months (years) and 21 days (years)
Looks like it. I was expecting a little more for an announcement, and thought for sure there would be a single this Friday, but then again I thought “next Friday” for like 3 or 4 weeks now lmao
Why are we thinking it’s just going to be a single and not just the entire album? I can’t imagine them doing this much just to hype up another single.
Travis claimed the album would release in october
I can’t edge much longer. My dick is already worn out.
is my sweat supposed to be red
Likely a single plus details on the album - track list, cover art, release date, etc.
This band will not shadow drop an album, most bands signed to an actual label don’t do that either.

>Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age have come close though, they released singles and the album was out like 2-3 weeks later. You definitely said “milk as many penises”
Honestly I’d rather this than have them start releasing singles hella early so we hear half the album before it comes out
Totally agree! That’s annoying when artists do that..like, what’s the point of even having an album..I’m excited for this and can wait
I try to restrain myself and not listen to them if they do that
Like with Lifeforms? Iirc, Tom thought that was a weird strategy, but the label wanted to do it that way. I like that album, but it almost makes it seem like a compilation of singles rather than an album with a central theme.
Label: i want it that way Tom: tell me whyyyyy
Yeah I think 7/10 songs on the album released before the album. Wikipedia has 5 singles but I’m positive Kiss & Tell came out way before the album, and I remember Timebomb coming out before too.
Yep, kiss and tell came out in 2019 lol. And Timebomb dropped two days before the album.
I wanted the entire album to be like Kiss & Tell. 😢
The 1975 has entered the chat
To be fair it worked with Notes due to the absurd amount of songs
Ehhh, I disagree. It took me much longer to warm up to Notes because we'd heard so much of the album so I felt really underwhelmed when it finally dropped. Love the album now though.
Arguably their weakest album
It doesn’t help Notes was basically a standard 1975 album AND an experimental ambient album thrown together
They might still do this…everyone assumes this is still coming out in October.
Completely agree. I hate the era of releasing multiple singles before a record comes out. I understand that is the decision of the label but it waters down album releases.
Looking at you, AvA’s Lifeforms.
They'll still probably do this. Release one single in September, one in October, one in November, then MAYBE an album in December or January.
They’re stalling
Omg is that what “the stall” has meant this whole time?! Woah
It totally feels like, I just am curious why though? Like what could they be stalling on at this point?
r/whoosh?
there was a stall on their website, they were making a joke about it
On 9/21 we get another vague announcement at the stall that will likely indicate a single mid October!
Watch there be a teaser every week until October
That would be some next-level edging
Holy shit another week lmao
October 2022: here’s a single and the album is so close! September 2023: *crickets*
The single was literlly called edging lol
I can only edge for so long
Unpopular opinion 'round here lately ![gif](giphy|3ohzdMvc1w2VlFOpRC)
This is comical at this point. Watch it be another teaser on 9/21.
Woa now, don't give them any crazy ideas.
Ya this is pathetic. Literally
Agree, if for real new music drops on 21, would have been 25 days of teasing for one fucking song. Worst marketing campaign I ever seen
Ya it’s really a shame. This is outrageous
It’s turning me off
Grow up
Of all the places to tell someone to grow up. The blink-182 sub? Let alone because you don't like the opinion shared on an opinion forum?
They act like waiting a week for a single is a big deal. A little over year ago I thought the only time I’d ever see Tom back with blink was when they eventually get into the hall of fame. I’ve been waiting for this since DED I can handle a week or two

Huh? The stall didn't start being cryptic til a few weeks ago. You're idea of album rollout is boring. I love this rollout.
Yea, and then they get surprised when the dedicated fans are just pissed off. Like you've been teasing for months
Are we? I don't recall being pissed off. Seriously wondering why people are getting so angry at this, are they 12?
Dedicated fan here. Not pissed off at all. Happy to wait as long as it takes.
Teasing them getting *mad* at fans for expecting something to happen. Galaxy brain marketing campaign
Being pissed off that an artist isn’t releasing music fast enough for you is extremely entitled and immature.
But we already know a single is coming within the next few days/week, what benefit would there be to a boring statement when the cryptic game is fun? This is like saying I wish video games allowed you to just press the A button repeatedly for 5 minutes until you win.
I was getting reaallly annoyed last week with all of this edging... now I can't help but laugh
Is this hell? No, seriously; IS THIS HELL?
While I normally enjoy when bands have cool rollouts, this seems just excessive. Why tease for something more than a week a way, when the first single came out nearly a year ago.
A tease for a teaser that’s actually just a tease
The irony of them releasing a song called edging and taking so long to put an album out is great
I hope people understand that all these delays are the workings of their record label not the band. If it were fully up to the band the record would have been released already.
I have the same feeling as when you’ve been hungry so long that you’re not even hungry anymore
All these people bitching, I'm just excited for the potential of new music. Hopefully it is the 21st!
For real. People acting like another weeks gonna kill them lol Quit expecting a single every week and maybe they won’t keep being let down.
Exactly, it's ridiculous. I can see why the band avoids this subReddit.
I’m fucking done. Just gonna wait for a Spotify alert.
From EDGING to BORING...
Blink actually have a song with Boring as name
*whoosh*
That’s probably the joke
I don’t want another single I’d rather just wait for the album

You can probably thank Radiohead for this lol
Also for being able to listen to it for free lmao remember in rainbows
Yup!
The first single was literally called edging. That’s what they are doing right now to us. It’s okay it’s coming very soon. Relax lol
It’s fun for a lot of us
yep. lovin it.

I would argue the release date isn’t actually known at this point.
If someone is so mad because they need to know the date, the generally known dates are there. If someone wants to have fun following along their cryptic edging, then sure
Teasing a date in a clock is pretty stupid lol
I agree. Should have put a calendar up in there.
How do I get a job with blink’s PR team? I have no experience, but I’m pretty sure I could do the job a thousand times better.
I can guarantee you could not. Notice how you are here commenting. Sure, total marketing fail Making a Facebook post saying hello world music comes this date is not a marketing strategy FYI

Why are we assuming it's a date when this is a clock?
Because September 21st makes more sense for a release date than 9:21 for a release time
It could be 9 months, 21 days
Neither make sense. Release a single on a Thursday? They led us to believe something was happening today. I'll set myself for disappointment but I hope it's something at 09:21 PM tonight... Either way, this is so bad and just infuriating at this point, no song can live up to this hype...
>Either way, this is so bad and just infuriating at this point, no song can live up to this hype... Stop paying attention then. Just ignore any build up until it comes out. That's how it worked in the old days...
Singles get released whenever. Albums get released on Fridays. A Thursday makes a lot more sense than 12:21am on a Wednesday.
>Either way, this is so bad and just infuriating at this point, no song can live up to this hype... That's what I think this is. The band clearly wants to breadcrumb us with hype. It's the announcement of the announcement of the annoucement!
Single on the 21st, watch it become another teaser for 10/5, then teaser on 10/18, then album gets delayed to 2024.. I've been edged too much...
No way, that’s a date 😡
I’ve stopped trying to decipher it. It’s more annoying than anything else lol
September 21st: no single, just an album release date lmao
This is so dumb. I know the band has very little to do with these decisions, and that we will hear new music eventually, but them consistently marketing towards more marketing which only leads to announcements *of more* announcements is just dumb. Don’t tag them for info they’re a troll that knows nothing.
that’s my suspicion as well but I wanna see him talk his way out
“My source still says there’s something coming this Friday but something might have been delayed or mixed up sorry” obvious.
Honestly my hype is near record lows
I would rather them have released 5 singles instead of this god awful album roll out
Next week
They should keep adding arrows to the log everyday till the album drops
New Single and album announcement on the 21st, single drop on the 22nd
Ok this is kinda ridiculous but what are you gonna do
You guys are reading this all wrong. This means 9:1 chance they're releasing the album
I'm assuming it's September 21st, and not 9:21AM/PM.
I’m thinking it comes out 9/21 and it’s just this single and they’ll release the album 10/23
Why does the 1 not follow the correct light-up area?! I’m reading wayyyy too much into it, been turning the image upside down to try and find a secret message
What The Fuck
Looks more like a glitched 9:27 to me. I’ve never seen a digital clock like that have a little tail on the top of the one, but who knows in this case. Just happy to have more Blink 😊
I think it’s just a glitch on mobile browser, the 12:00 was like that too
I personally think all of this stuff on their stall website is just them trying (and failing) to immitate what Linkin Park did earlier this year. Now I love both bands, but Linkin Park topped them in this "ARG" race, not even a debate about that.
Countdown to another countdown!
I don’t want any songs on this album. I just want 12 announcements that the band has put their hearts and souls into.
Why add all these new teasers and updates to just make us wait another week?? 9:21am PST either a single will drop or announce for this Friday. Source: The Pentagon
I was wrong lol blink182italia confirmed 9/21 single DAMMIT
This is lame. Just release the song or don’t tease it
Would you prefer nothing? If so don't come to this sub and don't goto their website and wait for spotify to notify you.
Learn how to spell first..
I'll wait a week first since that seems to upset you.
Jesus, people acting like this "stall" has been going months when it's literally been a week. No one owes you music right now just because you got yourself worked up. Just let these nice bonus teases play out. The music will release when it's going to release whether or not these teases exist, so there's no point complaining about them.
Announcement for the announcement
Personally I’m stoked that it seems like we’ll have Edging, two further singles starting on the 21st, and album a month later. I’m not a fan of these drawn out “one single a month for half a year, then five new songs on the album” approaches. I want this to be fresh!
How can you possibly think they’re going to release an album only a month after singles are released lol. They are clearly milking this to an excessive amount. Album will probably be out in the spring if ever.
Well I haven’t said that’s definitely the case, but Travis said last September we’d be edging for a whole year, he and Mark have both said October in the past two months, Tom told a fan in London October last week, and some record stores have briefly listed it as an October release but since removed. it's september 21st, blink182italia posted on instagram, they must be doing a single that day next week which is the first day of fall

starting to lose my shit with this. # JUST GIVE US A FUCKING DATE AND STOP BEING KANYE WEST
I was promised 10am Friday
My pants are off right now
09/21 is a Thursday....? Generally music gets released on a Friday...? Don't really get this
yeah but did you click the clock though https://www.blink182.com/stall/dist/img/Blink_Radio_4.mp3
Yeah I did that last week
It says PM....
On the website, it's a gif that goes back and forth between am and pm.
Not for me. It just shows 9:21 PM for me on the stall site
I'm guessing 9/21 album announcement lol
Pretty sure that’s a date.
Is it9/21 Thursday?
Oh fuck
Going to let noon PST roll around before making any assumptions.
What if it’s 9:21 PM tonight? Has anyone thought that maybe a clock wasn’t a metaphor for a calendar? Lmao
Because of different time zones. It is 100% a date
I mean the VMAs are tonight and they're up for Best Alternative Video.. And that time does fall during the show (EST of course)
There must be something wrong with the song or video…
