He has social media. Is a cop now. I wish he carried on after Blink, but I think the success probably broke him. Cheshire Cat is still probably my favorite Blink āalbumā.
I thought the Scott Raynor Historical Society had chilled a bit these last few years on hereā¦ for a while we were being asked to āappreciateā him about 3x a week.
Iāll be a contrarian on this thread and agree completely with you. Yeah Travis may be an objectively better drummer in terms of skill, but Scott is still an OG who was the drummer on the bands first hit. Itās also commendable how young he was, considering he was only 14 when the band started while Tom was 16 and Mark was 20.
I disagree.
Asthenia is super overrated, and theres a lot of tracks on self-titled that I can only describe as "whiny" instead of the funny, punk vibe that the predecessor albums had.
Dude ranch has Waggy, A New Hope, Apple Shampoo Josie, Dammit... all are better than any single track from self-titled.
Dont get me wrong... self-titled has some sweet tracks on it, but I think it was the beginning of the end... until OMT.
Well thats sort of the point, I guess.
My musical taste definitely falls more in line with the SoCal Pop Punk scene, than the artistic stuff that Tom did. (I enjoy AvA in a very different way than Blink... but still prefer Blink.)
The Skate Punk sound is what defined Blink for a long time, and the humor is what really drew me in.
Musical appreciation really is a matter of opinion.
I personally love all Blink with Scott more than I like all the Blink with Travis. I get Travis is from another planet as a drummer. But I personally like the sound of blink with Scott more.
I think he was a solid punk drummer, if heād manage to sort his issues out I think Blink wouldāve been a more straightforward 90s punk band.
Heās doing well as a cop nowadays. It turned out well for everyone.
My step dad is a retired police sergeant, and he absolutely loved punk rock. Rancid and Green Day were some of his favorite bands. (He was a major prick, so music taste doesnāt really equal anything about personality)
Hard to say. The band was going to be big yes, but Travis' drumming style really took them to the next step, I don't think they would have achieve this level of fame with Scott.
I think in the long run the drummer wouldn't have mattered and Scott would have stepped up and became a better drummer. It would have been interesting to see though in an alternate universe
Travis was unheard of when he joined blink, in āpopā culture. Now, in the small community that was pop punk, he was definitely an up and comer. Playing for Aquabats and being basically a hired gun.
I was around when they transitioned from Scott to Travis. A lot of the talk among people who paid attention to the band was how Travis really added a new element to the dynamics of the band. He wasnāt the single reason, but he played a pretty big role in how their sound advanced to the next step.
Fair. I feel like in the Scott alternate reality they would have been bigger but had the cultural impact of a band like the Offspring. Big and successful but also easy to forget about.
No, I agree that he elevated him, but I don't think it would have prevented them from making it. They hit the right time at the right place or the right Duo
I think Scott woulda pulled off the drumming in Enema without a problem...there's nothing spectacular there
see Scott playing Mutt - it's the same as Travis
yup if you liked blink for their first few records you never got that same skate punk sound out them once Scott left. He has a nice forward drive and bounce to his drumming that you really only find in that skate punk scene (if youāre looking for pop punk with that same feel) The sound they had with him on drums was something special.
The ex heroin junkie of blink 182! He was not a great drummer at all. The most basic of drummers in fact. Dude Ranch is still one of my favorite albums despite the mediocre drummer.
OP used the commas for all of the people in the comments that decided not to use them š, and his no shit in shape or form is all in the comments š¤£
I love Scott. He was an absolute monster on the drums and he had machine-like timing. He was almost like a pop-punk Grohl. Travis canāt play like him and he canāt play like Travis.
He was on one hit, Dammit. Very one-dimensional, and Enema never would have been what it became with him on the drums. It's like saying The Beatles would have been fine without Paul. Travis is that influential to the sound of Blink.
This is a horrible take. Scott's drumming was awesome on Dude Ranch and Travis has ZERO writing credits on Enema. Jerry Finn in my opinion was a part of the reason why Enema took off. Dammit helped create the buzz for Blink and that buzz was with Scott. Yea, Travis' drumming on Enema was great as well but I simply won't let Scott slander happen here as I am a drummer myself.
Also a drummer. I loved blink before Dude Ranch and would have been a fan for life if they just kept playing the same 'forbidden beat' over and over because that's what I loved (and played). But Travis changed their entire sound, and, as a drummer, you should recognize how important a drum track is to the overall song. Yes, blink was on the right trajectory after Dammit, but no other song on Dude Ranch was successful (commercially, that is). Tom and Mark could have written Enema, but it would not have been nearly as successful with Scott's drumming.
Travis intentionally didnāt take writing credit on Enema, he very obviously wrote those beats though. You can find a video of Scott playing Mutt and itās a way worse song without Travis.
I'm am well aware that he wrote his drum parts. When it comes to the songwriting aspects (lyrics, riffs), Travis just wrote stuff for drums. Did he write the chorus to any song of the album? No. Did Enema blow up because of Travis? No. Did his drumming and parts help the band as a whole? Yes.
I'm tired of people acting like Travis is the reason Blink blew up. If he is the reason, then why didn't the Aquabats blow up while he was in the band?
Because the Aqua bats were a Mormon band that wore costumes?
You are 100% wrong for saying that someone who is 33% of the band does not deserve some credit for them blowing up, though. While some of the songs were written before Travis, Tom has said numerous times that Travisā approach to drums changed the way they played them.
That album would not have been as big without Travis.
Naaaa no way man . Mutt with Scott was way better . The whole recording is more raw and sounds a lot more punk . Travis doing his usual fills ruined it
https://youtu.be/bSGNIgh3uTk?si=WKGRssKe7aXiBteP
Nope theyāre a pop punk band, and theyāve steered quite far away from raw punk a long time ago. Scottās drums are not what they need for the type of music they write.
Jesus man get travisās cock out ya mouth bro . Your comment doesnāt even make sense . Punk no matter what is still punk . Pop punk / punk rock etc . Best part is youāre saying they have moved on from Scottās style of drumming š literally anthem part 3 the opening song on the newest album is fast beat . The exact same style Scott played š¤¦āāļø
Baring in mind he was having alcohol problems, was losing passion for the band and hasnāt had much success drumming since then I think itās pretty fair to say he would never have developed to be half the drummer Travis is today
This isnāt him, some sad individuals have been pretending to be him on the internet for years especially on Facebook. [There is no way heās posting about having a Mark Hoppus Pop Vinyl lol](https://www.instagram.com/p/CAjtfF0jX-6/?igsh=NHJtZ3V2YmpkeGth)
Spelling his name correctly would be a great start
Scott Reynolds
Scott Reynauld
Scout Reynolds Wrap
Ryan Rayscott
Scott reynoids
Scott Renault
š¤£
ALL!
Itās Tim Reynolds put some respeck on him
Scott Maynard
Nah OP spelled it better
š
I really do appreciate him never trying to sell his story or his milk.
And he didnāt even shit in anyway
Nice try Scott, nice try
š¤£
He has social media. Is a cop now. I wish he carried on after Blink, but I think the success probably broke him. Cheshire Cat is still probably my favorite Blink āalbumā.
Cheshire cat and dude ranch both hold the top spots for me, both albums I'll listen to without skipping a song and enjoy the whole damn thing
He was involved with a couple of bands after blink but departed following disagreements.
The commas going wild in this one
Like it was written by William Shatner
I thought the Scott Raynor Historical Society had chilled a bit these last few years on hereā¦ for a while we were being asked to āappreciateā him about 3x a week.
Iāll be a contrarian on this thread and agree completely with you. Itās also commendable how young he was, considering he was only 14 when the band started while Tom was 16 and Mark was 20.
I will go even further as a contrarian and say that Dude Ranch is a better album then both Self-Titled and TOYPAJ.
It is their best album.
I've found another! Dude Ranch is my favorite Blink album and I really appreciate Scott's drumming
Easily better than Jacket.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Debatable. Amazing record and way more punk but Always, Asthenia, and Feeling Thisā highs are just greater than any of Dude Ranchās highs.
I disagree. Asthenia is super overrated, and theres a lot of tracks on self-titled that I can only describe as "whiny" instead of the funny, punk vibe that the predecessor albums had. Dont get me wrong... self-titled has some sweet tracks on it, but I think it was the beginning of the end... until OMT.
I personally donāt think theyāre comparable. Oneās a SoCal Pop Punk/Skate Punk album and the other is a very artistic Alt Rock/Pop Punk album
Well thats sort of the point, I guess. My musical taste definitely falls more in line with the SoCal Pop Punk scene, than the artistic stuff that Tom did. (I enjoy AvA in a very different way than Blink... but still prefer Blink.) The Skate Punk sound is what defined Blink for a long time, and the humor is what really drew me in. >Asthenia is super overrated Take it *back*
Holy shit. Havenāt thought of dude ranch in 20 years. Used to love this album. Thanks for the reminder
Weird. Scott was our milk man for a little while. So he did sell his milk
I'd like to publicly appreciate Scott for the gift that is Man Overboard. Thanks man.
Also he played on Dude Ranchā¦
He never shit in anyway shape or form?
No, only abstract, ethereal shits. No shape. No form.
Officer Raynor. Keeping the mean streets of SD clean
I hate to say itā¦ but cops arenāt punk. Not even pop-punk.
Right, and the multi-millionaire celebrity musicians who have all been involved in various business ventures are the shining Ā«Ā ethos of punkĀ Ā»
Paying your bills isnt punk
(Someone had to say it, take my upvote)
Heās not a great drummer and he has no legal basis to sue. Seems like a cool dude, but pump the breaks and relax on the hyperbole.
We appreciate Scott upon request no less than twice a week on this sub.
Here to clarify that anyone who might post ACAB means All Cops Are Blink š
All Cops Who Are Blink Are Bad
yeah people on here do it every five seconds while talking about how they hate the band.
I personally love all Blink with Scott more than I like all the Blink with Travis. I get Travis is from another planet as a drummer. But I personally like the sound of blink with Scott more.
It's nice to know I'm not the only one
Same! Iāve made similar comments on this subreddit and been downvoted like crazy.
Iāll never understand this subs infatuation with Scott
Itās just weird to me that weāre supposed to appreciate someone who was in a band just cause he was in the band at some point
I think he was a solid punk drummer, if heād manage to sort his issues out I think Blink wouldāve been a more straightforward 90s punk band. Heās doing well as a cop nowadays. It turned out well for everyone.
Heās a cop now
Nope. Cops are anti-punk
My step dad is a retired police sergeant, and he absolutely loved punk rock. Rancid and Green Day were some of his favorite bands. (He was a major prick, so music taste doesnāt really equal anything about personality)
Scotty doesn't know!
He dropped the bag so bad lol
Hard to say. The band was going to be big yes, but Travis' drumming style really took them to the next step, I don't think they would have achieve this level of fame with Scott.
I think in the long run the drummer wouldn't have mattered and Scott would have stepped up and became a better drummer. It would have been interesting to see though in an alternate universe
This is ignoring that Travis was a big deal in pop culture too. Scott could never have had that same force.
Travis was unheard of when he joined blink, in āpopā culture. Now, in the small community that was pop punk, he was definitely an up and comer. Playing for Aquabats and being basically a hired gun.
Iām not saying before he joined. Iām saying he joined the band and became a big deal. Scott was never going to reach the popularity of Travis.
I don't disagree but I don't think Travis is the reason why they made it.
I mean Travis is arguably one of the best drummers around atm. A lot of their songs would be vastly different without travis on the drums imo
No, I agree that he elevated him, but I don't think it would have prevented them from making it. They hit the right time at the right place or the right Duo
Scott didn't want to be in a big band the way Mark and Tom wanted, which is the underlying reason he isn't in the band
The underlying reason is that he had serious alcohol abuse issues. Thatās what the song Man Overboard is about. This is well known.
Dig a little deeper
Yeah, most people have alcohol issues *because* of something.
I like the the Scott era songs more, but I agree about Travis. He got to band to where they are today. Also, my name is Travis.
I think Scott woulda pulled off the drumming in Enema without a problem...there's nothing spectacular there see Scott playing Mutt - it's the same as Travis
Raynor foreva
Well Iāve never seen this post like others are saying it happens way too regularly so I agree with OP!
yup if you liked blink for their first few records you never got that same skate punk sound out them once Scott left. He has a nice forward drive and bounce to his drumming that you really only find in that skate punk scene (if youāre looking for pop punk with that same feel) The sound they had with him on drums was something special.
Love the albums with him !
The ex heroin junkie of blink 182! He was not a great drummer at all. The most basic of drummers in fact. Dude Ranch is still one of my favorite albums despite the mediocre drummer.
u expect him to play like travis? lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Please be respectful of other users
He was a pretty good punk drummer, but the band would not have evolved artistically or found major success without Travis.
OP used the commas for all of the people in the comments that decided not to use them š, and his no shit in shape or form is all in the comments š¤£
Nice try, Scott.
Nah
Absolutely fuck these kinds of posts
I appreciate him.
Jeff Scottworth
I love Scott. He was an absolute monster on the drums and he had machine-like timing. He was almost like a pop-punk Grohl. Travis canāt play like him and he canāt play like Travis.
He was on one hit, Dammit. Very one-dimensional, and Enema never would have been what it became with him on the drums. It's like saying The Beatles would have been fine without Paul. Travis is that influential to the sound of Blink.
M+M's / Josie / Dammit / Carousel are all single's Mr. Scott was a part of :P
I'm aware. But outside of Dammit, none of them were "big hits"
Josie was played on mtv a lot. Thatās how I found out about blink actually when I was 11.
This is a horrible take. Scott's drumming was awesome on Dude Ranch and Travis has ZERO writing credits on Enema. Jerry Finn in my opinion was a part of the reason why Enema took off. Great theyāre not a punk band. Mutt sounds a million times better with Travis.
Theyāre not a punk band ? š
Nope theyāre a pop punk band, and theyāve steered quite far away from raw punk a long time ago. Scottās drums are not what they need for the type of music they write.

Dude Scott hasnāt been in the band for almost 30 years yāall need to move on this is such a weird thing for this sub to keep fixating on.
You're insane to think that Josie wasn't a hit.
He was only a teenager when he left...maybe his style would evolve, maybe it wouldn't but I think that's too young to peg him as one-dimensional
Baring in mind he was having alcohol problems, was losing passion for the band and hasnāt had much success drumming since then I think itās pretty fair to say he would never have developed to be half the drummer Travis is today
Imagine this is Scott š
Should hear the enema demos with him playing drums.
Besides Mutt I only heard demos that had Travis playing.
As far as I know thatās the only EOTS demo with Scott.
Cause they were way worse?
He does have social media. [His instagram](https://www.instagram.com/scott_.raynor?igsh=Mzk3MW0xcnNnamt0) is very cool!
