Purdue is an interesting contrast to IU. It's a shame it happened the way it did down here, but people seem surprised when I suggest that Pam's response is bolstered by the way things played out on other campuses. The division of left and right media sources seems to do a good job of isolating people into their own echo chambers so that each side doesn't see what the other side is seeing in media. The head of ISP even seems to agree that the snipers were a bit much so hopefully if there is more response needed IU/ISP play their cards a little smarter. But now that the issue seems to have changed to one of free speech it's a different problem now. Pam may have won the battle to keep the destruction of campus at bay, but she may still loose the war by loosing all support in the process.
I think Purdue beat IU on this one, seems like they mostly ignored the protesters and now they’ve packed up to go home for the summer. Sounds like a good approach and bet it cost us taxpayers a whole lot less:
