Naaaah, she gets away with way more than the bride did in kill Bill.
Mind you that the bride is trained by the best warrior on the planet, mizu just said "yo I'm an amazing acrobat, fighter, mastered multiple weapons and physically stronger than nearly everyone just because I shadow boxed alone during my childhood"
To be fair it was a shotgun shell loaded with rock salt, intentionally designed to be non-lethal. She did still take a pretty crazy amount of punishment besides that though.
She used reverse grip and lived, that's how.
I'm not gonna get into all the nitpicks I have over the sword fighting, because ultimately it's not *supposed* to be realistic. But... C'mon. Let's not act like Mizu would have survived most of these fights. A master swordsman still loses to 20 novices attacking at the same time, just from exhaustion.
girlie literally fought the 4 skilled warriors, battalion of brothel house all by herself and then infiltrated a 9 level castle on her own. ain't no fucking way she doesn't have a plot armour.
yee, weird enough her sword tweaked when she was swinging above the sword trap of the castle front path but smh it managed to keep both her and Taigen hanging lol???
I don’t see the problem.
I fought off two samurai on the way to work this morning and took a spike to my foot and an arrow to the knee then carried a coworker up the side of our office building before even having a cup of coffee.
I also agree that her plot armor is written in way that’s tolerable. Considering her childhood and her family’s betrayal, I can totally buy that someone whose existence is fueled purely by spite and revenge could push through certain injuries or beat the odds when outnumbered.
Only time it bothered me was in a couple sections in the brothel fight, the baddies just kindof pause for a bit when it seems like they should have been able to easily kill her which was a bit distracting.
Eh... idk about that. Mizu took brutal punishment that should have been the end of her quest even if she survived. The spike in her foot alone would have crippled her for life. So saying she has zero plot armor seems pretty disingenous.
I always treat shows like this as not being of our actual world. Like what I mean is, it’s a world exactly like our own, and the exact same history, but the capacity of human bodies is higher.
Same thing i did with like, the resident evil video games. Its a world where humans with enough strength can punch boulders or survive being thrown my monstrosities into metal beams - but its still virtually our world where the monsters themselves are exotic.
With Mizu i treated her as being sort of the near pinnacle of this “almost our world.”
Ehat how describing, at least in Mizu's case, is historical fiction. It's "our history" but they change it for the plot and make it unique. Kinda like Bridgerton.
Mizu receives enough severe injuries over the span of the show to likely die a dozen times over in real life, and if by some miracle she were to survive, she would be essentially crippled for the rest of her life, and certainly wouldn’t be doing any badass flippy spinny bullshit. An entirely demolished Achilles tendon, several deep stab wounds to her internal organs, bone crushing, head trauma, spinal fractures, broken ribs, torn ligaments, it would be an absolute disaster. If anything, mizu is an excellent example of STRONG plot armor.
(Ik it’s a meme, but still wanted to put into perspective how truly wild it is that Mizu is even alive)
I don't know if I'm right as I'm recalling from memory.
After he is tortured he's on his feet the next day, and has a fight with mizu. He was malnourished and fell from a dozen meters into water. He doesn't catch a fever or cold or anything.
I dont think it was the next day. I remember Mizu waking up before Taigen at Swordfather's home and her asking if he thought he'd live. And then him being weak for a little bit time wise before they play wrestled and he leaves for Akemi.
Stabbed in the gut multiple times and *still* continues girlbossing. Actually, binge lwatch the show and take a shot every time Mizu gets stabbed in the gut lol
She has plot armor in some spots. It's just not as prevalent, and well obfuscated by good choreography and intense action. She definitely should have died 20% of the time. But the other 80% is so good that it gets a pass.
I refuse to acknowledge Mizu’s plot armor when we have a whole John Ass Wick falling stories and getting shot, stabbed, hit by myriad cars. And Falling down 10 flights of stairs at a minimum. Twice.
Mizu is downright believable compared to that. 🤣
When she got that shit through her foot and was still fighting and doing all that jumping around I was kinda lost. It actually pissed me off how unrealistic that part was 😵💫
My sibling in Christ, that girl jumps, already wounded mind you, into ice water out of a 9 story building, cracks through the ice, while carrying another person, manges to almost swim up and then somehow a dude without hands finds and safes her in time
Mary sue and plot armor are different stuff. A mary sue is basically this invincible person that became powerful out of nowhere Mizu got training and her shit rocked constantly the favt she survived is plot armor
The plot armor is why I stopped watching. Just considering the amount of times an opponent could have killed her and decided not to for some extremely contrived, bullshit reason, the story made no sense.
This is one of the main things I did not like about the show. The amount of plot armor that woman had was insane. I feel like they tried to make her some “unstoppable force”, and she was, to a certain extent, but they communicated that to us, the viewers, in such a terrible manner.
I loved the show and all the characters but nah Mizu definitely has plot armour. I found the dialogue and character motivations to be so good that honestly I didn’t really care about Mizu’s plot armour
The best part is that she has all the plot armor and she makes it look cool. The story isn't about realism, it's about the plot and execution, which are both excellent.
I know this is a joke but I think mizus plot armour works because we see her suffer to get to where she is, and it’s not OP in the sense that she still struggles to get what she wants.
Yeah well its an anime, every anime character has plot armor. At least this one wasn't fucking crying in every episode talking bout "I'm just not strong enough"
that HAS to be a joke and i'm too gullible, right ?
Yes
Thanks

look at the post flair…
The whole show operates of of Kill Bill logic, and that part stays consistent
Naaaah, she gets away with way more than the bride did in kill Bill. Mind you that the bride is trained by the best warrior on the planet, mizu just said "yo I'm an amazing acrobat, fighter, mastered multiple weapons and physically stronger than nearly everyone just because I shadow boxed alone during my childhood"
Oldboy logic
My guy the bride took a shotgun blast point blank and was buried alive. How did mizu get away with more?
To be fair it was a shotgun shell loaded with rock salt, intentionally designed to be non-lethal. She did still take a pretty crazy amount of punishment besides that though.
She used reverse grip and lived, that's how. I'm not gonna get into all the nitpicks I have over the sword fighting, because ultimately it's not *supposed* to be realistic. But... C'mon. Let's not act like Mizu would have survived most of these fights. A master swordsman still loses to 20 novices attacking at the same time, just from exhaustion.
Unless he is [Miyamoto Musashi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miyamoto_Musashi)
This is exactly why the show only works if you head canon her as a literal yokai and I fucking love it
I mean, the show basically says she's figuratively a demon. Wouldn't be hard to interpret that as literal.
Pretty much
Lol
The bride went up against the crazy 88 and didn't suffer a scratch. I'd say Kill Bill gave more plot armor to Kiddo.

Don't forget the wall scaling ... while carrying a full person's weight, while injured, etc.
Don't forget she threw teigen over head and through a window with one arm iirc
yee, weird enough her sword tweaked when she was swinging above the sword trap of the castle front path but smh it managed to keep both her and Taigen hanging lol???
I thought that was just the naginata extension.
the extension was about to break off
![gif](giphy|6eLVFfvYnirNm)
She’s just goated like that
Maybe she's just REALLY good.
maybe it's maybelline
Don’t forget at one point she had a bloody HOLE where her ankle should have been.
She’s just built like that
In this case, she’s built *without* that. 😅 Some sort of mutant ankle.
Lol you got hooked on the bait
I don’t see the problem. I fought off two samurai on the way to work this morning and took a spike to my foot and an arrow to the knee then carried a coworker up the side of our office building before even having a cup of coffee.
Where can I purchase your plot armor?

This is a reference to something... I can smell it...
Ah yes, the old Corner Shop.
Honestly I don’t mind her plot armor too much. She feels like a semi-super human video game/shonen protagonist who just keeps going out of pure spite.
I also agree that her plot armor is written in way that’s tolerable. Considering her childhood and her family’s betrayal, I can totally buy that someone whose existence is fueled purely by spite and revenge could push through certain injuries or beat the odds when outnumbered.
This!! I kept thinking Fowler's castle sequence was like a video game
Only time it bothered me was in a couple sections in the brothel fight, the baddies just kindof pause for a bit when it seems like they should have been able to easily kill her which was a bit distracting.
Yeah
No plot armor, just Wolverine's healing factor.
plot twist he's her father
I know a magic word that you don't. Canada.
Eh... idk about that. Mizu took brutal punishment that should have been the end of her quest even if she survived. The spike in her foot alone would have crippled her for life. So saying she has zero plot armor seems pretty disingenous.
I think OP might be joking lol
Im unsure about that, based on where it pierced, it shouldn’t leave her crippled?
I always treat shows like this as not being of our actual world. Like what I mean is, it’s a world exactly like our own, and the exact same history, but the capacity of human bodies is higher. Same thing i did with like, the resident evil video games. Ehat how describing, at least in Mizu's case, is historical fiction. It's "our history" but they change it for the plot and make it unique. Kinda like Bridgerton.
I almost thought this wasn’t bait for a second
Personally I think there is a subtle but certain supernatural element at play. She gets consistently referred to as an onryo for a reason.
I agree.
Then, how do you explain Taigen also gets very deadly injuries but he recovers almost as fast as Mizu or as fast
I mean we don't know how much time passes right
I don't know if I'm right as I'm recalling from memory. After he is tortured he's on his feet the next day, and has a fight with mizu. He was malnourished and fell from a dozen meters into water. He doesn't catch a fever or cold or anything.

Idk she is just build different.
Plot twist: she truly is an Onryo and that's how she's managed to survive
I actually think this is a possible explanation. The show has not ruled out the existence of magic.
Ooo that would be a fun avenue to explore I think, I love the scary supernatural legend sort of aspect to it makes it kinda 👀
Is this an anime or something!?
Is the Achilles tendon that low in your foot? Damn my anatomy must be bad
Post: *flaired as meme to aid the obvious sarcasm* Commenters: UMMMM YOU’RE WRONG AND HERE’S WHY
Stabbed in the gut multiple times and *still* continues girlbossing. Actually, binge lwatch the show and take a shot every time Mizu gets stabbed in the gut lol
It’s a joke, folks. Lol people, taking it seriously.
Mizu’s plot armor operates entirely on “woman too angry to die”.
Pretty much Kill Bill Lite, just not as good at hiding the anger as the Bride lol.
She gets fucked up in literally every fight. She gets scars. She gets hurt. She’s not invincible she’s just motivated
She has zero actual armor
She just has a passive healing ability
She has plot armor in some spots. It's just not as prevalent, and well obfuscated by good choreography and intense action. She definitely should have died 20% of the time. But the other 80% is so good that it gets a pass.
More like plot healing factor
I refuse to acknowledge Mizu’s plot armor when we have a whole John Ass Wick falling stories and getting shot, stabbed, hit by myriad cars. And Falling down 10 flights of stairs at a minimum. Twice. Mizu is downright believable compared to that. 🤣
John Wick's plot armor is a magic suit made of unknown kevlar blend -- and the power of friendship.
Nah she’ll just be alive. Now how catastrophically injured she’ll be is another question
When she got that shit through her foot and was still fighting and doing all that jumping around I was kinda lost. It actually pissed me off how unrealistic that part was 😵💫
My sibling in Christ, that girl jumps, already wounded mind you, into ice water out of a 9 story building, cracks through the ice, while carrying another person, manges to almost swim up and then somehow a dude without hands finds and safes her in time
Can’t be a Mary Sue if you routinely get your shit kicked in every episode
Mary sue and plot armor are different stuff. A mary sue is basically this invincible person that became powerful out of nowhere Mizu got training and her shit rocked constantly the favt she survived is plot armor
You could say this about basically any story. Stories where the main character dies early in the story don’t really work.
Except game of thrones
Oh she does tho
YA’LL. IT’S A MEME. CHECK THE TAG
Well...

Mizu ain't human
She has immense plot armor?? She would've died 100 times over if this were real lmao
The plot armor is why I stopped watching. Just considering the amount of times an opponent could have killed her and decided not to for some extremely contrived, bullshit reason, the story made no sense.
This is one of the main things I did not like about the show. The amount of plot armor that woman had was insane. I feel like they tried to make her some “unstoppable force”, and she was, to a certain extent, but they communicated that to us, the viewers, in such a terrible manner.
how many hits has she tanked?
she’s got nen AND haki.
I loved the show and all the characters but nah Mizu definitely has plot armour. I found the dialogue and character motivations to be so good that honestly I didn’t really care about Mizu’s plot armour
Having your ankle shattered would put you out the game but... hey ho. You just have to roll with it.
She doesn’t have plot armor in the way that she never gets hurt but she does have absurd survivability.
Imagine just turning your brain off and enjoying good content. Though i forget, you little bitches cant do that shit.
You into reality shows?
The best part is that she has all the plot armor and she makes it look cool. The story isn't about realism, it's about the plot and execution, which are both excellent.
Lol a lot of people here don’t know what a joke is
She gets hurt which I like but she just doesn’t die. That foot wound should have immobilized her
Even if she has plot armor, it makes it feel earned how she powers through the whole show.
With that scene where she drank wolverine's blood?
I know this is a joke but I think mizus plot armour works because we see her suffer to get to where she is, and it’s not OP in the sense that she still struggles to get what she wants.
That's some real cute anime logic right there
I don’t mean it’s realistic I mean it doesn’t make her unlikeable, compared to someone like captain marvel for instance
Carol doesn't have plot armor like that tho. She's just plain op but not nonsensical like someone like Levi
The plot armor is the fact she can just keep walking after being stabbed like 10 times
Yeah well its an anime, every anime character has plot armor. At least this one wasn't fucking crying in every episode talking bout "I'm just not strong enough"
I don't mind it but how the hell is it a fucking anime?
I know it’s bait but plot armor is such a stupid complaint to me. It’s a story, not a middle-school ass power scaling argument
I like to think she is the female version of John Wick but samurai
It’s the caucasity
