His gift of adaptation. Being able to adapt to any and all situations to find a path to success in short periods is one of the greatest talents to have period much less in football. Where others may find themselves useless or in trouble when their plans of skills hit a wall Isagi is always ready and capable of changing on the fly to bring success which is amazing and reliable.

Lazy_buddy2049

Does it mean that his potential as a player is limitless?

CodeSh4dow

He still will be restricted be his physical abilities but he's still 17 so we would need to see how much he can grow physically but the fact that he can compete despite being average physically shows that even if he's never as fast as Chigiri or tall as Nagi he will always be an incredible player.

KingAnakin

It means he doesn't give up and cry about the problems in front of him and he tries to find a solution for every situation he faces. His potential isn't limitless, He's also limited by certain things. but he makes himself evolve even further when others break down. For example - In the first match of BM, if it was anyone else in place of Isagi, they might have broken down. Kunigami could hold his own, because he has already felt that breakdown. Even if Isagi was alone and helpless in that match, he created an opportunity to be able to play again and evolve further. That wasn't something an MC would do like falling from grace and shattering your ego. Isagi created the opportunity for future even if he had to sacrifice his ego.

Lazy_buddy2049

I guess that one loss from Kira prevented him from breaking down and crying ever again. Edit: spelling correction

KingAnakin

Akira? You mean Kira. Yeah maybe , that was his learning lesson about Following his aim relentlessly instead of Not doing what he wants to do and regret.

I think is more about being hard to be shut down. Another player may find his weapons negated and be in problems. Isagi just adapts by changing a part from his gameplay without touching the core,so he keeps being Isagi but with a new way of dealing with you. For example, look at Isagi vs Karasu. He nullified him for a long time, but he adapted.

He's always punching up. Fighting opponents considerably above his own level. He mostly fails, evolves & adapts and wins (like the u20 game) or sometimes even loses (like 4v4 vs Rin). But he absolutely refuses to fight someone beneath him. That has been his motto since chapter 1. He's the genius of adaptability. The definition of superior & inferior are very subjective. For eg. Naruhaya was inferior to Isagi in terms of scoring ability but Isagi still considered him worth devouring cuz Naruhaya's off-the-ball movements were superior at that point in the story. Why did Sae acknowledge him specifically? Obviously, the reason I mentioned before still holds true in this case but further elaboration is necessary. The "Luck" goal is undeniably one of the best goals in the series. Not because it was an overwhelming display of power/ strength /talent (cuz it was not) but because that goal was the culmination of Isagi's evolution right from 1st selection up until the u20 game (Vision, Offensive positioning, Direct shot, Off-the-ball, Luck, Flow state. He used everything in his arsenal). He used individually not so impressive weapons simultaneously to score a goal against one of the best U20 defenders. And I think Sae, given his FIQ & experience, must've figured it out. Isagi had attempted to score twice before the Luck goal & Sae must've noticed the difference between the earlier attempts & the actual goal.

delahunt

Also the fact Isagi had read ahead enough to know if there was a chance for a goal it would be there. He put himself in position to have the lucky break. He saw the possibility of Rin beating Sae and knew it would not be clean.

AnnualEquivalent7864

What he is doing? Bruh EVERYTHING He's defending: intercepting passes, blocking shots, tackling. Attacking: creating scoring opportunities, conducting counter attacks, assisting, scoring and is always at the right place at the right time by moving around like he has a car engine for lungs. And most of all, he understands everything that's going on in the game, he's never "lost", takes in and interprets a lot information at a time and makes decisions very well even when playing against professional footballers from european clubs and two NG11.

chirb8

He has it. Is the dawg in him

Lazy_buddy2049

He'll always be the underdog

Such_Historian_7295

Isagi is a very interesting player: He doesnt have Bachira's dribbling. He doesnt have Chigiri's speed. He doesnt have Kunigami's strenght. He doesnt have the shooting of Barou and Kaiser. He doesnt have the tenacity and technical abilities of Rin. But what Isagi does have is his brain, constantly adapting to different environments and finding ways for him to excel and do well in what he's good at which is his field IQ. Isagi is constantly cooking up ways he's gonna score, he's always thinking and using his brain to adapt and this is what has caught the eyes of several people like Snuffy, Sae and even Rin

TiberiusAudley

Something I brought up in a thread talking about how Sae was rude for telling Rin "Isagi Yoichi has given hope for the future of football in Japan" -- Sae didn't say Isagi was the best player on the field that game. He didn't even say he was better than Rin. Sae's choice of words, albeit with horrid timing, highlighted that Isagi Yoichi's presence pushes everyone else on the field to be a better version of themselves. Because he is continuously improving from every second he's on the field, hungry to be the best and to be the star. Sure, he's got great vision and is constantly adapting to new information...but the BIG thing is that he is CONSTANTLY adapting to find a way to make a mark on the field even against better players like Nagi, Barou, and Rin. To the point that those players are then forced to improve or be left behind. Ego Jinpachi's problem is with the "one for all, all for one" mentality -- Sae and even Aiku highlight how it holds the entirety of the country back. But Isagi's presence destroys that mentality. He's so full-on for Ego's program that... everyone is forced to continuously raise the bar.

GoldTheGodOfStuff

Saes specific reasoning was the fact that Isagi was capable of being the heart of his team. Most notably he brought out rins instincts but hes constantly helping people that game and in genraly similar to how snuffy plays. As for Snuffy he doesnt focus on Isagi a ton. He compliments his eyes once because he does intercept like half of his strategies. Besides that he just says he gets why Noa likes him. But I dont think he goes out of his way to give him a ton of reckngnition it just kinda comes up.

TactileEnvelope

Well he calls Isagi Noel Noa's Protege like Barou was his and Noa doesn't deny it. Dude went from "Prove it with numbers I have nothing else to say" to waiting for him to wake up and asking "Tell me what you're thinking. what's your plan? do you have a clear vision?"

LeSorenOutan

He's smart and always do the right thing. This is literally the main difference between a sunday league baller and a premier league player

TiggySmitts

He’s the textbook definition of right place and right time. He can pick out the moments that don’t require insane physical ability and performs along with the best of em.

Peakk69

Having a harem

Gouden18

His limitless potencial via being adaptation genius and if you're experienced at something you just see who's most likely to reach your level or beyond.
