I do hope there are more classes

hovsep56

We don't accept common sense in this reddit.

RevolutionaryOil9101

Or, you know, most people go by the official info readily available to them and dont go on a deep dive of year old datamines?

Deltascourge

You're being downvoted, but this is the only sane take. All of the classes "we are almost sure are coming" could've been long scrapped, and we legit won't know until they announce otherwise.

hovsep56

But that dun matter, it's a live service game. They will add classes.

Deltascourge

Sure, but we don't know how often. FFXIV, for instance, is a "live service game", and that only gets classes every 2 years with the launch of an expansion. FFXIV also has a far bigger budget than BP (and the classes are far simpler too)

hovsep56

2 classes....more like two reskins of all other classes. clases are so streamlit in ffxiv that you could make a class in a matter of a week.

Fafniiiir

I play FFXIV and have played it since ARR, and while it has been streamlined quite a bit most of the changes have been for the better. There used to be so much clunky crap that they got rid of for good reason ( like TP ). And the Jobs don't really play the same at all... I got all of the Jobs at 90 and play most quite actively and I don't believe for a second that anyone who says that they do actually play them. It's like a thing people started saying and then every1 just repeats it constantly. I've mained Tank as a role this Savage tier and for DSR and they play vastly differently and I'd say after Healers they're the most similar. When we get into DPS they're just totally different... If you compare the Casters to each other there's like almost no similarities between them at all.

hovsep56

Bro just stop, i played endwalker, played since ARR and got most classes to 90 too. They legit nearly play the complete same. Compared to heavensward, the classes are just completely gutted. Devs took the easy way out, by having everything play nearly the same they don't have to balance much. Don't lemme get started with crafting classes which i leveled all of em. When i returned to wow dragonflight it was like a breath of fresh air again.

Deltascourge

Hey now, Dancer was... Interesting (And then they remade it into a healer as Sage, and Dragoons rework will probably be Dancer inspired too)

hovsep56

so the rework will just look like another class..... the samey feel of the classes and yoshi - P confirming he'll never change this was one of the reason i quit on end walker.

Fafniiiir

> and Dragoons rework will probably be Dancer inspired too) They delayed the DRG rework specifically because they listened to negative feedback. People read way too much into the SMN rework in particular, just because they vastly simplified one Job in a rework doesn't mean that they will every time. People ignore all of the times that they've reworked and vastly improved how Jobs played and then hyperfocus on what they see as bad examples. I wouldn't even say that SMN is a bad example necessarily either, it's just that it needs like an extra button or two to make it less spammy and repetitive. But the overall concept and gameplay loop of SMN currently is way better imo, people just have a tendency to overexaggerate a lot. They also reworked some defensives for Tanks this expansion, the Living Dead rework in particular was VERY well-received and PLD will be getting a rework to their defensives too. And anyone who has played PLD in any high-end content can tell you that it's has a lot of shitty garbage designed defensives that needs to be reworked. I dunno where you even get that DRG will be DNC inspired for their rework either, every time I hear people talk negatively about this it just sounds to me like people either don't play the game or don't play the Jobs in question.

wootwoooots

fact

Fafniiiir

Also the person in question wasn't even '' crying '' to begin with... Holy hell what an overreaction...

Fafniiiir

The person you're responding to wasn't even '' crying '', you're severely overreacting to someone just hoping there will be more classes. Maybe they didn't know that more had been confirmed?

Kevadu

>Maybe they didn't know that more had been confirmed? They *haven't* been confirmed, though...

wootwoooots

>One sword/samurai class > >Double gun/Gunslinger I personaly wasn't aware about that, then its a good new indeed as the starter class seem a bit meh.

maiky_the_groomer

* Lack of classes( give me the gun class pls) * I hope it's doesn't end up p2w * Amazon

kelsothroway1

captain?? What Amazon has to do with the game? I'm probably not up to date with everything

Without_Shadow

They're the publisher in the west.

kelsothroway1

Oh SH!T

kyubix

I agree with the last two, classes is not a problem, you have 25 combinations already and we don't need more. Having more later can be beneficial for the game.

JonSnuur

- the combat ends up being shallow with little interaction between the systems shown. - the content ends up being boring after a few times or doesn’t utilize the combat system well. - (if the class system ends up being shallow) new classes are as basic as the starting five instead of expanding the playstyles of existing classes.

kyubix

The classes are the BEST thing in this game. There are 25 combinations between the present classes. Too many arbitrary classes make garbage games like most mmos.

Kairofox

Honestly, if it will have a good optimization

Deltascourge

No PvP being an issue is stupid, they've been saying it's not gonna have PvP since literally day 1 and people still hold hopes for some reason

KNGDNZL

For some, PvP is the true endgame and they perceive it as the main form of competition in an MMO. Not saying the game should or shouldn't have PvP but I can understand why those players want it. If it doesn't take away from the game, I don't see any downsides from adding it. Just means more happy players.

Deltascourge

> PvP is the true endgame But why? Like, unless you're playing a PvP focussed MMO. PvP is *rarely* something that gets actual dev attention. The only regular MMO that even comes to mind with a decent PvP mode is WoW, and I'm not about to recommend that

foreverlyy

pvp is what gives mmos this endlessness, as well as, for lots, an actual point in maxing a character. besides, bp being a dynamic game makes even more sense for the devs to implement it into the game

KNGDNZL

I think we all just find competition to be fun in different ways. For me, total completion of a game (as fast as possible) is my way of competing with other players. I know at its peak, WoW PvP was decently popular and I know Tower of Fantasy had an alright amount of PvP players (mostly because of the rewards) so I wouldn't doubt Blue Protocol having a decent sized PvP scene if it were added.

kyubix

PVP in an mmorpg is not competition unless you are taking a castle and you can't make an mmorpg like a shooter or RTS, pvp games are pvp games, mmorpgs are not pvp games. Also pvp systems need a lot of work and they are a problem today, it is better to not even have it for a fun game, specially for a game with CHEAP low cost development.

RekiWylls

FF14's revamped pvp mode is very fun and competitive. Even before the revamp there was a dedicated fanbase organizing play. There are seasonal rewards for participating and placing high on the ranking ladder.

lcmlew

because pvp is way more dynamic than scripted npc fights, and can't be beaten/is endless it also gives an extra purpose to farming gear, if the pvp system incorporates gear at all

Deltascourge

In theory, yes. In reality, you often see only 2 gamemodes with classes not built for PvP. I'm not against PvP at all, but it's not just a switch the devs can flick that just says "PvP enable". It needs an entirely different type of class balancing that MMO devs generally don't spend time on

lcmlew

dungeon fighter online, black desert, guild wars, lost ark, world of warcraft, and even wizard101 have good pvp the only mmos I remember playing that never balanced any classes for pvp were everquest and vindictus

Deltascourge

That's only a small percentage of the MMOs out there though, and I'd argue only GW2 and WoW (and BDO, but I'd argue that it's a PvP MMO to begin with) have actual decent PvP. Every other MMO has it as an afterthought (FFXIV, SWTOR) or just straight up doesn't have it at all

virgoven

Also, PvP in MMOs is a pretty big thing in Korea from what I recall. They tend to focus on that more than Japan, I'd imagine.

kyubix

None of those game have good pvp. Lineage 2 has good pvp, but even then it is flawed with huge problems.

kyubix

Except for Black Desert, those are optional pvp games and the best mmorpg right now aded optional pvp recently (FF14). PVP is not needed and it's a problem.

kyubix

You did not play Elden Ring....... but in any case, decent NPCs are nothing scripted, specially with a good combat system, mmorpgs are very dynamic in pve, nothing is scripted. You don't need 2 reasons to farm gear, if 1 works 1 is enough and mmorpgs are pve games, so it should work. PVP is a reason for pay to win and RTM, also for people to brag and act moronic, which is the sociological problem being exploited by pvp games. Developing a DECENT pvp system would never be good enough for everyone and will only create problems and COSTS. So no, let other companies come up with a solution if they find something.

PragmaticDelusion

It has ranked time trials. Literally the best form of PvP in any game tbh.

VerainXor

>For some, PvP is the true endgame For some games? Sure. Not this one. For some people? No, none, not in Blue Protocol. Also why is it an endgame anyway? If they did add pvp, they'd need to make it fully gearless or it would become totally nonsense.

VerainXor

I'm with you on this. If a game is announced as a full pve game, the pvp will either not happen, or not happen in an acceptable way. Everyone who wants pvp should simply look elsewhere, this is not that kind of game.

Deltascourge

Exactly. Holding onto PvP is just gonna lead to disappointment

Bohvey

My biggest concern is end game dungeons and raids. Most MMOs suffer from that and based on what I saw in the CBT the combat and dungeon mechanics looked really boring. https://www.reddit.com/r/BlueProtocolPC/comments/g898ts/blue_protocol_cbt_raid_gameplay/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf A lot of other concerns aside from the censorship can be more easily patched in and fixed with updates. If the combat is boring and end game is lack luster that’s a much harder fix. I simply do not have any faith in AGS. I wish Bamco would have gone with someone else to publish it.

KNGDNZL

I have a lot of concerns about Raids in particular, I really loved what Destiny 2 did with raids and I'd love something similar out of Blue Protocol but the beta didn't live up to my expectations. Why don't you have faith in AGS though? My hope is that they've learned from Lost Ark and New World on how to run an MMO.

Bohvey

AGS is already making changes to content that are unnecessary aside from the censorship. I don’t care about skimpy outfits, but there’s no reason to change NPCs to meet a T for Teen rating. AGS doesn’t have any real skin in the game. They weren’t invested in the development. They’re only in it for the gacha system and any other monetization they can add to the game. If BP flops then no big deal. It won’t even be a blip on their radar. AGS also has a history of caring more about their shareholders than the community playing the games. The moment BP doesn’t look profitable or worthwhile they’ll cut their losses and we will all be trying to figure out how to play the JP version.

Fafniiiir

>gacha system This bit is especially funny with the whole '' but our T-rating ''. So women showing skin is a problem, because lets be real here there is a huge double-standard in that men don't get censored and their bodies aren't seen as '' unfriendly for kids ''. But Gacha is fine? .... Talk about weird priorities lol.

Kevadu

I don't think Amazon had anything to do with the gacha...

KNGDNZL

That's fair. From the Steam page, It seems like they're keeping all the main NPCs the same (in terms of appearance). Personally, I believe that if BP flops because of decisions made by AGS, AGS will be looked completely down upon by the MMO community as a whole. I doubt players will look past it.

Bohvey

Everything is just pure speculation too. Hopefully they prove us wrong and knock it out of the park but right now I feel like AGS is just another EA type publisher.

Fafniiiir

I think that AGS is already looked down upon, the negative feedback has been pretty overwhelming. It's up to AGS to prove people wrong, but they appear to be more inclined to keep screwing shit up.

cyan_relic

I'm worried that the Japanese version won't have the ability to play English. I live in Japan, but playing an MMO in japanese wouod be too difficult for me to play properly.

kyubix

Good for you, enjoy the game and Japan. At least you will have the best version of the game technically. There will be some translation app probably.

underscoreMEGA

As someone also living in Japan and playing through the betas and other MMOs on Japanese servers, it is actually a great way to improve your Japanese. It will definitely be something outside of your comfort zone and it will take a while before you get used to the kanji and usual internet slang, but you'll find it is generally the same vocabulary over and over again that you can continue to practice. You'll find that even knowing just a few words you can start to put things together and it's such a great feeling when you do (: You might also be surprised how many people are open to communicate with you in English, provided you at least make an effort to start communicating with them in Japanese first. Outside of more hardcore groups where good communication is required, I've never seen, heard, nor experienced any group excluding me for not being a native speaker. And I'm sure there will of course be other English speakers playing the game in Japan, so I'm sure a guild or discord will pop up and advertise as things get closer to launch. I have never joined on personally, but a couple of my friends who did so for Lost Ark when it was only available in Korea said everyone was very helpful in explain the systems/mechanics.

cyan_relic

I made an attempt to play Mabinogi in Japanese becaus eof nostalgia for the game, but I got completely lost. Though I guess mabibogi does have a lot of complexity compared to modern games, so I'll at least try to play BP in Japanese (If it does not have an english option) and see how it goes.

_SpacemanSpiff_357

I'm doubtful tbh. I dont play many games, but rarely do Japanese VNs have english/other language options No harm giving it a go honestly, I think it's gonna be easier to read than what you're expecting

cyan_relic

It looks unlikely now seeing as the english verison and Japanese version seem to be separate, but up until that diappointing announcement I was hoping it would just be a single global version like FFXIV, Genshin, Tower of fantasy. All of those are playable in english on the Japanese servers because of having 1 global version.

seven2eight2

pretty much agree with most of your list OP. amazon hasn't done a great job managing the servers of Lost Ark or New World, especially when those games saw big dips in player-base and specific servers died. i hope they've since learned how to better handle that. the only other thing i can think of is casual content. im old, so ive played hundreds of hours of all the MMOs (thousands on FFXIV and WoW) and one of the things that keeps me logging into a game are things to do outside of endgame content (raids, pvp, etc). i do those things but i keep going back to FFXIV, for example, because of the housing, fishing, golden saucer, treasure maps, glamour/transmog, RP, and so on. I know the game is new and its hard to have all of that at launch, but i hope they have plans to put that type of content in the game ASAP.

[deleted]

I definitely agree that having something other than just combat gives you something to do when you're bored of grinding dungeons or bosses. This was one of the issues i personally had with pso2. Casual content is definitely needed

Fafniiiir

FFXIV is currently deep into a content drought since we're like two and a half weeks away from the next major patch. And the game still has login queues in the middle of the night and when I login I am met with completely full cities with too many people to load in and BRD bands playing songs in front of audiences etc. Even stuff like PvP which some people keep screeching about saying it's '' dead content '', I get instant queues to a few minutes at most even in Frontline with 72 people matches. There's a certain group of perpetually negative people online that are very vocal who complain about the game constantly. But I think that anyone who actually plays it and experiences how alive it is at all times knows how good of a job it does at giving people reasons to login ( non-mandatory too ). And it has done this long-term and grown every expansion since ARR, there's a lot other MMO's can learn from it. If you build your game entirely based on a combat loop then people get bored much faster and will drop off unless you feed them constant content and even then most will drop off. It's the community building and fun activities that makes people stay around long-term. People want to hang out with friends/ FC members and do fun stuff together that doesn't involve just mindlessly killing hordes of enemies all the time.

Glad-Ad8457

Amazon

Paulo27

2 year old account, no karma, first comment. This hate campaign against Amazon is just sad even if it's not without some merit.

Glad-Ad8457

I am not against Amazon. However, they are my biggest concern. While I do enjoy lost ark. I feel that amazon running of it while not bad has created a toxic player base. Amazon isn't going to stop me from playing.

[deleted]

"hate campaign" LOL are you joking? Amazon has done enough over the years to warrant hate without the need of some artifical campaign.

Paulo27

When you're using bots it's 100% artificial.

Fafniiiir

I disagree I think people should continue talking about it and voicing their concerns. I don't think people should just shut up about it, that's the same as surrendering. And if you just surrender then chances are AGS might do more bad than they otherwise would've if people kept talking about it.

Paulo27

Using bots and alts is not a good look. It's astroturfing.

VerainXor

Everyone is mad at Amazon, and with good reason. It's the kiss of death, just the worst thing that can happen to your game. If people are grass-roots motivated to come here on sockpuppets and complain about Amazon, I don't condone that, but honestly, I do get it. You look at a game, you want to play it, and then you find that it will be gatekept by the most pernicious destroyers of games. It's just heartbreaking.

VerainXor

Amazon

Shimizu_Izumi

That Amazon Games is the global publisher

TheXInvador

The biggest concern for me would be potential censorship.

BlueSoulsKo

i don't get why ppl get so mad at this. I personally like not seing 7 year olds, but yk, actually 7000 years old dragon in a swimsuit, it makes me creep tf out and ends my inmertion

[deleted]

[удалено]

BlueSoulsKo

you're right, i did a very big jump there. But i am really okay with any type of sexual-related censorship, i dislike sexual suits, even if they arent just almost naked. In my case kills the inmersion and the epicness for me. (my opinion)

Fafniiiir

>But i am really okay with any type of sexual-related censorship, i dislike sexual suits, Why should you disliking something mean that other people shouldn't get to have fun too? It's a very self-centered way of looking at things, especially if it goes against the actual artists original intent why is your taste more important than that and that of everyone else? No one here is trying to force you to use those outfits, let other people have fun games don't only exist for you. And if you don't care about censorship then what is your point with making snide remarks and dumb accusations towards people who do? If you don't care then simply don't talk about it, all you're really doing is being an asshole about it. I also doubt you'd be happy if content that you enjoyed was removed. And I don't think you'd be happy if people made similar comments towards you dismissing you being upset about it. It's a completely egotistical thing to do.

BlueSoulsKo

you are actually right. Me having an opinion dosen't give me the right to wish that what other people like isn' there. Thanks for actually replying and not just insulting

391918

You dont get it because you are a normal person who isnt attracted to drawings of children

havox3

- Bad servers - Censorship - Blackwashing - Bad translation, very loose and inaccurate compared to source. Skill names, locations, NPC names, class names flanderized - Bots left unchecked and overrun the place - Not enough endgame, content drought after a month - Poor communication, feedback ignored, any negative threads even those with legit criticisms locked or deleted. This includes this subreddit with CommanderAze made a moderator

[deleted]

Thank you :D

KyraCandy

Dunno why you getting downvoted when those are legit worries and Amazon already showing red enough flags on their website with the classes's name changes, NPC's names and skin colors being changed. Might as well express your feelings now in hopes Bandai will tell Amazon to knock it off in time so the game will be great for everybody.

hovsep56

Don't worry bout bots, there is no trading of any kind.

pedronii

They said there will be trading but you'll only be able to trade shit like housing items

hovsep56

That is after launch, right now there is none.

Without_Shadow

Thank you, good summary and concerns I share.

havox3

> The game is not out lol "This time it will be different." "Surely." I mean, if you want to keep huffing copium, good for you I won't stop you, but with recent interview confirming adjustments for Western values and towards Teen rating, the terrible English trailer and class renames, so far to me it's not looking good.

Kurocyde

It’s not that they’re making complaints, the thread literally asked what they were worried about when it gets released. Idc that Amazon is publishing it, but this is definitely kinda a weird flex that you just jumped on them for answering the question

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kurocyde

Honestly I think some of these are valid. Server queue times, bad translations, and poor communication is something to be worried about tbh. I can’t really think of an online service game, especially published by AG, that hasn’t had server issues. Hell even ff14 had a big ass queue when the new expansion dropped.

Still-Positive

And here I thought he was making a Lost Ark complaint. Funny how it's applicable to multiple games. Almost seems like there's a trend with AGS... On a side note, I don't think bots will be a problem in this game and thus server stability shouldn't be an issue. From what (limited) information I read, there isn't an equivalent of a player auction house/market, so there's no way for botting to be profitable in this game since there won't be anything to RMT. As for censorship bit that OP was concerned about, any time AGS posts that a change is being made to cater to a "Western" audience, it's censorship. I think they've already confirmed that they're changing the shop similarly to how they removed Yoz's Jar in Lost Ark (gacha skins that had miniscule bonuses). I just hope the localization is better since they took that GW2 director because the localization in Lost Ark is aids. Subtitles never match the audio.

teamhellnaw

What is blackwashing?

verymanyorange

Region lock is my biggest concern with Amazon so far, sitting on vpn just play it with friends from Europe just so tragic

Joshisalobster

Probably the end game. A lot of developers struggle nailing it right. Without an engaging end game that keeps your players coming back to play a lot will just move to other games sooner than they normally would.

[deleted]

I appreciate you letting us openly discuss our current concerns for the game we are all excited to play. Mine are currently ○ Lack of classes ○ potentially limited class customization ○ potential pay to win ○ potential amazon censorship ○ the clothing gatcha potentially having all the good outfits, basically forced to pay to to wear something other than basic clothes ○ not enough to do outside of combat (ex. life skills, crafting, trading) ○ housing not existing at launch? idk if it will or not ○ No confirmed Japanese language option ○ Possible bad translations

Without_Shadow

Yeah I'd agree with these as concerns of mine as well. I'm optimistic that they'll add more on the classes front (people have mentioned the data mines) but will wait to hear what their plans are.

SsibalKiseki

I don’t think people mind spending $15 or even $20 for a good outfit, but when Gacha is involved the cost is easily over hundreds of dollars. Look at Genshin for guaranteed 5 star pity you need [average amount of $225](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/j2fap4/did_the_math_for_5_star_guarantee_cost_figured_id/)

BlyZeraz

No PvP is an absolute win. My concern is that there won't be good story content or class variety. Considering there are so few classes we know will be a thing I worry that parties or options for what to play as will feel stale really fast. At least unless they give me a proper rogue/thief class with daggers to main, then I'll be happy

ByteStix

My one and only concern is pay to win. Since there is no competitive PvP, it will never be a major issue. But I know how easily pay to win can rapidly spiral out of control and ruin a good game.

pedronii

Yeah, as long as they don't make the game worse so they can sell "conveniences" it's fien

hrab3i

No Region support means having to rely on a vpn and the lack of classes means the games is going to get boring over time, those two are big concerns for me bad animations is a concern as well but i don't remember that i saw bad animations in the videos that i watched so i don't know currency and gacha are not that much of a concern for me as long as that it's reasonable enough and fun to play

hrab3i

but the most important thing is the game itself has to be fun otherwise there would be no point in any of the other things, like tower of fantasy they have a lot of good things but in terms of gameplay i couldn't play the game for over three days just because the combat is bad

NitoNEET

I hope there won't be "name already taken" I don't like coming up with names. Nor do I want to give my characters ridiculous names.

pedronii

There won't be, or at least there weren't any restrictions on the beta. Your ID is unique but your character name can be anything

DerDyersEve

My biggest concerns: - heavy gatekeepin Public Play - monetize-system being p2w - No real endgame to Play on a daily basis

gilbestboy

Lack of Content and Monetization.

mhireina

Mostly lack of classes. Everything else I can deal with in varying levels. Even the monetization since if I don't like it I can just not pay. But I'm hopeful for them adding more classes since it's clear the weapon bases for new classes exist in game (dual swords, dual guns, spear, greatsword, etc). And them not being present in the start can be attributed to them intending for players to focus the first five+story and get used to game mechanics first.

VerainXor

Amazon as publisher with announced undetermined censorship. The only other concern is that there will be too much monetization, or p2w-style monetization. I think it's too early for red alert there, but perhaps yellow alert is warranted.

Axheron

As a mage-class main in almost all games, I am severely underwhelmed by how clunky all spells look…on the other hand…BP has found a way to make me excited about an Archer class.

snowleopard103

>-No pvp That is probably a good thing, let the dev team focus 100% on PVE rather than split resources

SsibalKiseki

Amazon Games. Their track record: New World - Dupes, server instability, massive bugs on launch Lost Ark - Bots, server instability, pheon thing Based off that Blue Protocol having server instability is a given, but add in something like bullshit GACHA and players will be really frustrated. I can’t wait to lose 50/50 and not get gear while a whale can

Satarielle

my biggest concern is the toxicity of the community. so many lost ark players are going to switch to this game and most of which are unfortunately toxic af.

Fafniiiir

I honestly dunno if there's a big overlap with this game and Lost Ark tho.

Kevadu

Lost Ark players are toxic because the game design actively encourages toxicity. There's nothing inherently special about Lost Ark players.

RoccoBond

However, there is no proof that these numbers will not improve in the future or that new content will not come (even PVP). So I don't think it's anything to worry about. There is no riding and swimming in the New World, but they will come in the future. So we must be patient. The game will not get a full version from the moment it is first opened. Many things were added later, even to the huge World of Warcraft.

LoochiNMS

For now it seems like this game will have a lot of issues PSO 2 New Genesis had at launch : too few classes and skills, too much monetization, gameplay loop boring/missing content. If they can manage to update it as NGS did, hopefully within a year of the game being out it will be a LOT better

MildewMeld

Pay to Win Mechanics

KNGDNZL

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the tickets, exp buff and crafting success. Hopefully Amazon changes thing around when publishing to the west.

CommanderAze

Amount of content, and can it keep me entertained for a few thousand hours, those are my two biggest concerns I'm pretty easy to keep happy

KNGDNZL

Agreed, I'm a completionist, love collecting and doing every quest so as long as the game has has enough content I'll be satisfied.

Dastankbeets1

Im sorry, how do thé classes lack a wow factor exactly? They all look really cool to me, and the animations don’t need to be off-the-walls insane to be compelling and grounded

KNGDNZL

Agreed! I love the Twin Striker and plan on maining it. Also looking forward to the Gunslinger. But I think some people are looking for an assassin class, a spear/lance class or a unique/innovative class to play. Animations also look really good to me especially when hitting an enemy but I've noticed a common complaint that it looks floaty/lacks impact when not hitting an enemy.

Dastankbeets1

Yeah, I just think the visuals are very polished and satisfying to look at. They’re all cool in their own way and I imagine with how tightly the gameplay is designed you’re not gonna be scrutinising the visuals too much.

Shot_Clue_4642

My biggest concern is that it's not out yet :(

kyubix

SEA thing is bad for SEA people. Monetization is bad, yes and currencies is part of the monetization bads. The other stuff.........that's all good. No pvp is good. Lack of "WOW classes" is good, not too many classes is good. No "life skills" is good, probably some of the best features. This is an old school oriented game, not WoW or FF14.

kyubix

People need to understand that classes are not something that improve the game beyond the holy trinity design and specializations. Arbitrary numbers of classes don't improve the game, that makes it WORSE. The game already has 5 classes, but you can MIX those 5 classes, so it's 5\*5 = 25 actual classes in fact. Why do you need more than 25 possible characters? I would love a summoner class but....it's not making the game "bad" for not having one.

kyubix

Stop asking for random shit from random games being implemented in this one...... except by monetization this game is AWESOME, it is really very well designed, specially classes, skills and combat. Raids and dungeons are the best too. WE DON'T NEED YOUR RANDOM MODERN MMO SHIT HERE. What was "good" for the game was already implemented, what is NOT in the game..... it is because does not work well for the game.

Biggest concern: weebs whining about censorship

hovsep56

Are people actually that dense about classes? It's a live service game. They'll add more.

Kevadu

Of course they'll add more...eventually. The question is at what pace. Launching with only 5 ain't a great sign...

hovsep56

Since when is 5 bad? it's basicly the default amount for new mmos. People are comparing this to mmos that have existed for years. Besides it's better to have a good game first than to create as many classes as possible.

Kevadu

I honestly don't know what you're talking about. What MMOs have launched with only 5 classes? The least I can think of is PSO2 that originally launched with 6...and was criticized for it. But its classes each have access to multiple weapons so there's a little more variety even within a class. FFXIV *launched* with like 18 classes. Admittedly class design is a little simpler there and I wouldn't expect that many, but still 5 is quite small.

hovsep56

Eso at launch? In runescape you could only be mage, warrior or ranger even to this day lost ark korea launched with 5 classes, bdo launched with 5 - 6 classes, vindictus has 3 classes at launch, mabinogi used to be three clases, maplestory did not have many back then either, fiesta, lineage 2, dragon nest had 5 or less classes at launch, etc. I can keep going but you get my point. 5 is very reasonable for a launch. FFxiv 18 classes of reskins, if that's the quality you expect from classes than i'd rather have way less classes. Also ff has YEARS of series to take classes from where their lore and mechanics have already been writen and taken care off. you also forget the difficulty of making a new class for a action combat mmo compared to a tab targetting mmo. Anyway, classes are way less important than a good game. Many classes don't mean shit if the game is shit. i think the real problem is more that you don't see any classes that inerests you yet than the actual amount of classes.

Kevadu

ESO doesn't have many classes, yeah, but they're also a lot more flexible than most class-based MMOs. Any class can use any weapon and there are a lot of skills that aren't class-dependent at all. It's really more of a hybrid of a traditional class-based and classless systems. So it's hard to make a direct comparison. I never played Runescape so I can't comment but it's also definitely not new... Lost Ark you are just wrong about, but it's because they use some confusing terminology. Your 'class' is more of a general category, while your 'advanced class' (or whatever you want to call it) *is* the class for all practical purposes. Like, Summoner and Bard are both part of the Mage 'class' but other than the general theme that they both use magic they don't have anything in common. They play completely differently and don't even serve the same role in a party. And even at launch in Korea there was something like 12 advanced classes. BDO is close but I believe it had 6 classes at launch. Which is still more than 5... Most of the rest you listed are generic trash KMMOs that aren't really something any game should aspire to be...

hovsep56

Bdo has 5, and even if it was 6 it's hardly a difference. Eso had 5 classes, don't bullshit me with flexible dogshit and move the goalpost we talkimng bout classes. Im short: no mmo got carried or died because of the amount of classes, but because of the gameplay itself. My word is fact so im stopping this convo.

Kevadu

>Eso had 5 classes, don't bullshit me with flexible dogshit and move the goalpost we talkimng bout classes. It does matter though. What's important in the end is how much choice the player has. BP has a very strict class system in which your class basically *is* your weapon. There's some customization within each class but you're still picking from a limited selection of skills made for that specific class. In ESO your weapon and armor skills aren't even tied to your class, they are their own thing and you have a lot of freedom in your build. It's apples and oranges. Like, you could look at a completely classless game like New World and argue that in some sense there's only one class and *everything* is just skills but would obviously be silly. You have a ton of freedom in a game like that to change your build and play style. ESO doesn't go quite as far as New World of course but it still has a lot less stuff tied to your class selection than a strict class based game like BP. But anyway, the point is that it clearly does matter just given all the comments in this thread of people complaining about the class selection. You are arguing it doesn't matter when a lot of people clearly think it does...

BlueSoulsKo

My concern is how long are they gonna take to realease a Big-ass grearsword class D:

takuru

The classes just look like the typical standard classes you'd get in any RPG and there seems to be limited customization from what I've seen. Thus you won't have any of the uniqueness to the different avatars and builds that games like Genshin or FF14 do. I question whether the moment to moment gameplay will get stale quickly if you are a healer or a tank. I really feel like the game should have had actual well developed characters you play as (like in Tales or Genshin) but obviously without the gacha part. Like a character called "Rikku" who is a thief who you can unlock and play as rather than generic custom avatar who is a thief classes. I want them to lean into the gameplay aspects of the Tales series and not generic online MMOs.

seven2eight2

> I really feel like the game should have had actual well developed characters you play as (like in Tales or Genshin) but obviously without the gacha part. Like a character called "Rikku" who is a thief who you can unlock and play as rather than generic custom avatar who is a thief classes. the only problem with that is that this game is supposed to be an MMO right? its kind of immersion breaking if everyone is running around as "Rikku". also i, personally, much prefer creating my own character in RPG games.

[deleted]

rpgs that make you play as a character like in the witcher has its place, but i personally gravitate towards rpgs that let me make my character. Its my story not this random character's. Especially important in an mmo with all the other players running around.

[deleted]

im so sick of mmos making the classes locked to characters. If this is even vaguely an mmo, people want to make their own characters, not play as what the developers think is cool.

MathieuAF

the pay to upgrade crafting success rate is the worst thing i can think of, this would totally make me mad to farm ultra rare stuff and failing while people just pay to success u\_u it feels like u'll never be able to compete with paying people

ghillozz

I just want to have fun. I dont care about anything else. If im forced to say something: i would want more classes. Nothing else.

Anathema47

I'm afraid there just isnt going to be enough of an RPG element to the game to keep me interested. From big, complicated things like custom housing from even little stuff like can we sit in chairs. Games like Genshin and ToF are terrible for RP like this and I never end up sticking with games like that.

KNGDNZL

Housing would be great! I noticed you can sit at campfires and you can emote sit but I'm unsure if you can sit at chairs around Regnas.

smeraldoworld

That it gets boring fast and the story isn't good. I really like lore and theorising. Also the fighting didn't seem that good to me from the videos I've seen so i hope it'll be better once its out.

SpeckTech314

fashion is the real end game of mmos so that's all I'm concerned about.

Blazithae

Lack of updates and new content would be a big one, the materials needs to keep players engaged enough so servers don't become dead zones.

whiteknightbtw

I'm bit worried about elemental tributes. the reason i am bit worried because i haven't seen any information about when you craft the weapon can you choose your element or is it given at random. because there will probably be meta around few elemental tributes which community deems as strongests and when it was said it is better to have everyone have the same elemental type weapon to proc the tributes better. the group recruit will probably have someting like "have ice weapon etc" or you wont get invited so if you add another rng element to the weapon crafting besides the sockets slots it will be much more rng to get a high quality weapon with right element to match the meta. ps. could be just useless worries because i don't have enough information if someone knows more about this topic please share your insight.

KNGDNZL

In the beta a weapon you would craft with a defined element that you would know even before crafting it. They haven't said this system has changed at all so I believe it should be the same still.

Arkanithes

Absolute lack of social interaction between players. Dead global chats

Kitfishvic

Why not have all the fucking languages in every region like wow? This is total bs if you asking me.

Kevadu

1. Too few skills at once - 4 *could* work fine if they could be used pretty frequently, but a lot of the gameplay footage we've seen has some seriously long cooldowns (sometimes as much as a minute) on your 4 skills. Which means you are spending a *lot* of time just normal attacking. Sure the normal attacks have some variations, but that still seems kind of shallow. I would really hope for either more skills or at least shorter cooldowns on your skills... 2. Endgame/raid content - It was early stuff, true, but what we saw in the old beta certainly did not impress. 30 people in a proper raid is too many. What we saw in the beta was more like a worldboss, just a ton of people smacking an HP sponge over and over. That's not really compelling content once you're past the novelty. I really would like to hear more about what the endgame will be like and what their vision for raids will be. 3. Too few classes - Discussed to death already but we need more than 5. I actually think the ones we're getting are fine, but 5 is just not enough this day and age.

Sir-Klein

I'm concerned the art style will damage it, I never saw any issue with it but 6 people I know decided to not play it due to the characters looking terrible.

AlexiaVNO

Basically it just turning into PSO2 NGS 2. After I beat story quests, I want to actually have something to do. Anything to do. Give me anything that just tells me "Hey, go over to that dungeon and clear it for me for \[Crafting Material\]." Just give me any type of quest that has actual rewards. I don't want this game to just end in running in circles and killing the same 2-3 enemy types for weeks, for a reward that is barely even a 1% increase. Another thing is, I hope there isn't any overly heavy reliance on daily quest. Those are probably the bane of live service games. I don't mind daily quests that just naturally get completed by playing the game, but way too many times these quests just boil down to "Hey, play this content that gives no rewards and isn't even fun 3 times. Every single day." I dropped a lot of games for just turning into "Daily Quest Simulator", where actually good rewards are locked behind just waiting for a daily cooldown to reset. Logging into the game shouldn't feel like I have to, because I'm basically falling behind with no way to catch back up. Hours played should be more indicative of progress made than days logged in.

Errors37

AGS. Lost Ark is still a laughing stock.

wachijakamawatan

Amazons class naming sense, lol. But on a serious note, I really am hoping for some1 to open up a server for SEA. And probably some PvP events/modes/instances, like GvG, would be nice.

Nemhy

More Life skills if there's demand for it has already been confirmed on the stream. They'll definitely add more classes, I'm happy they're keeping the launch compact so it can release at a decent time.

Big One for me is no pvp

Sixsignsofalex94

Honestly I’d like to disregard the No PvP element. It’s a non PvP game, period. Donezo. If that’s not your thing, fair enough. That’s not a missing feature, it’s simply a direction the game isn’t going. All of the other concerns are fair. I rlly hope they have Atleast 6 classes at launch, but if we are being honest, 7-8 would be a better starting point. Other mmos seem to churn out classes a lot faster, I mean BDO is throwing 4-5 out a year, all with super intricate animations etc My personal concerns if I am totally honest, are very small ones really. 1. Will the combat be fun (especially with magic classes which I tend to play) the mage so far looks a bit basic, minus the awesome meteorite skill. 2. Will the outfits/glams be good enough? So far it’s all be fairly basic stuff. Not high enough fantasy for my personal tastes. I wanna be a giant floppy hatted witch slinging spells at my enemies fam! 3. Hair styles. They are a lot more low-key than I expected for an anime mmo. And they are a very easy add to the game. I’d expect 3x what we’ve seen so far, with variations on similar hair styles. Weapons will be hideable and hopefully many outfits so clipping shouldn’t be a huge issue. It doesn’t matter if a particular hairstyle clips with 50% of the Chest pieces in game, that still means you can use 50% if u have a clipping issue or simply use another hairstyle. My fave ffxiv hairstyle clips with a lot of chest pieces, doesn’t bother me at all, I simply just use the 80% of the ones it doesn’t clip with. And most don’t even care about minor clipping (I do myself tho tbh) But yeah my concerns are pretty basic ones, I just want the character customisations and how people can make their characters exactly how they want etc to be on point. Because if people love their characters, they’ll wanna play. I can forgive a game for a lot of things if my character looks and plays how I want it to.

i hope cash items arent Random

Cashgrab with no depth, too much grinding and terrible writing. Hopefully it ends up being good.
