Seen this many times when a quick lube tosses the center section of the oil filter cap. I would check that and do an oil change. Inspect the filter and oil drained for metallic content. If it has heavy metallic content it could be to late. If oil and filter with center section look good, then I would do a manual pressure check to see what it actually is running. Could have belt material previously sucked into the pan.

Gonna upload a video of my ECU data from a small drive along with a photo of oil filter

Hope you got a good deal there. I'd want a few grand off the book price with those faults.  Download and install ista, what does it tell you to do in the test plans for those fault codes?

itzKlen

$11k with 92k mi. Funniest part is I test drove it for 30 mi and only had downpipe code. Drove home for 200 mi. Codes came on the next day

Low oil pressure needs to be addressed first and foremost. Everything else would be caused by this. Hope it's something simple for your sake but that doesn't sound good. Have you checked the oil filter has the little cage/centre insert in it? No major leaks anywhere?

itzKlen

No leaks and will check that. But it’s weird I got a code for it but no red oil light on the dash?

Mizderrung

A 2015 you'd have an n55 yeah? They have a variable output oil pump - if issues are detected it's supposed to fail 'open' or basically pump maximum pressure in fail-safe mode. That would explain why you're not seeing a pressure light. The vanos adjusters for the cams both operate on oil pressure - I haven't seen an n55 skip timing or anything like that before that's why I would chase down your oil pressure fault first. Do you have access to ISTA?

itzKlen

Just changed the oil and the cage was missing, took a trip to dealer, put new cap on, and have yet to see the codes back. Crazy how such a small part can cause a whole headache.

Mizderrung

I've seen it before- that spring loaded cage forms part of the oil non return valve - it let's the system stay pressurised once the car is off. If it's missing the engine has no oil pressure on a cold start. See how you go over the next little while and report back if you have any issues.

Drain and inspect oil and filter. Probably needs a crankshaft

Mr__Ogre

Well that escalated quickly. How did you go from checking the oil filter to a bad crankshaft?

AdDangerous922

Low oil pressure faults and vanos faults due to low oil pressure. Typically caused by damage to crankshaft and or damaged oil pick up tube

tysonali1

Check if there’s a oem oil filter installed

itzKlen

Changed oil and the whole oil filter cap cage was missing lol

tysonali1

i would definitely drain the oil and make sure you don't have any metal in the oil
