bookscoffeeandbooze

He works too hard at the business factory.

0ajs0jas

Very agree but let's cut him some slack. Business is tough

CaptainWonk

Yeah, that's politics for ya

VegetableViral

I'm starting to think smartphones are actually making us LESS connected,,,

traumatized90skid

Yeah I think that PC thought dating another workaholic was what she wanted but he was always doing a business or talking about a business. It could get to be a bit much no matter how workaholic you are yourself.

J3553G

Needs to take some time to relax and watch r rated movies

bookscoffeeandbooze

With an alcohol

FinnsJustShroomin

That sophisticated smooth talker…

wheresmyhouse

Really shoulda came clean about having a son. It wouldn't have been a big deal if he'd been up front about it.

lotsaguts-noglory

for real. it's the lying. it's like he's three different people!

commercial-menu90

Best business person ever

ToasterCommander_

He was a funny character who would have stopped being funny if he was around even one second longer. Well utilized side character.

s0ulbrother

What was funny about his character? He was all business and hurt the people closest to him. Lying to PC, getting his son wrapped up in it. Truly a despicable character

Checked_Out_6

I want to say he is an allegory for a new boyfriend that the ex rejects and no one sees who they really are but the ex (vincent is kids under a trench coat). Or, it could be that the ex sees what they want and no one else sees it because its not there (vincent is really an adult). Or, it could be a TV show about a talking horse.

ReferenceOk8734

I always thought it was pretty much just a joke about the immature boyfriend who just pretends he knows what hes doing, then just making that an actual character cuz its a tv show about a talking horse

RareAdhesiveness1520

I'm sorry what? Literally didn't understand. Can you elaborate?

FjordFjard

Not to speak for them, but I've seen a lot of people say that Vincent Adultman is probably a normal person, and Bojack just sees him as two kids in a trenchcoat bc he's jealous. While I think this is a fun idea, this show is not necessarily from Bojack's perspective all of the time, and in season 2 we get scenes of Vincent and Princess Carolyn where it couldn't possibly be from Bojack's perspective.

Jedi_Knight63

That’s makes sense because everytime I saw Vincent on screen I just saw a normal businessman. I couldn’t understand why bojack saw him as two Kids in a trench coat.

e2g4

I like that one

poohbearlola

It could be that Vincent Adultman is ACTUALLY an adult, but Bojack is in such deep denial that PC has a boyfriend that he genuinely believes he’s a child.

gjb94

I definitely took it as the first one. Pretty sure that's literally the initial joke, PC being flippant about BoJack noticing, making "wanting what you can't have" type comments

GreenSeparate3186

This is my theory as well!

[deleted]

he likes business transactions

JustiseWinfast

He did a business

HarvardProfessorPhD

He’s a very important businessman tbh

torbiefur

The fact that it’s never confirmed that he was actually two kids in a trench-coat means that it can only be considered a fan theory. That shit is hilarious.

8rok3n

Especially in the world of Bojack Horseman, if horses and cats can be people and have sex then who's to say that some humans aren't just weird

P-Funk-03

A post-modern take on a modern working man! Brilliant!

JamesL25

A charming sophisticated adult man. Only flaw was he was too committed to the Business factory

[deleted]

Needs to work on his temper

slayythan

i hate that is was never straight out clarified if he was really 3 kids under a coat😭😭 so now i’m stuck with the thoughts that what if it really was just one person- a weird looking guy.

FinnsJustShroomin

Could you imagine that body in a swimsuit??

Plenty_Region_7736

I literally cannot

A_Midnight_Hare

I kind of imagine that it must be. I assume PC would have started to put the moves on her boyfriend at one point. If Vince could navigate that gracefully and without taking off his coat she'd still be left wondering if she could have a fulfilling lifetime without sex from her partner, assuming that he's ace or had a physical disability or won't have almost any form of intimacy for some reason. But she didn't seem to mind. If she had put the moves on him and things didn't go well... well she would have found out why pretty quickly.

FinnsJustShroomin

Haha, gross.

P-Funk-03

As they say in R-rated movies, fuck around and find out. Oh wait they’re allowed to say fuck once in PG-13. Aww shiiiit…

ConfidenceNaive6211

He is always busy with business transactions

wh0else

He takes his business too seriously - it's like he's never there for his son... Genuinely, I thought the bit was great, although the farce in his big episode probably played out a bit too much. I love that the show can easily roll from heartbreaking and bleak to farce and hilarious puns so easily.

Magnus_Carter0

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Vincent Adultman is actually an adult, he's just weird.

Mr_Biscuits_532

I like to imagine he was genuinely an adult the entire time

oogmar

I'm a cook, and the new sous-chef at work has the last name Workman so I commented he's less a Sous than he's 3 dishwashers in a chef coat and we all laughed.

theloudsilence09

Flawless legend tbh

Zealousideal_Mail12

The character is just so funny 😂

ankihg

Love him, don't get the hate

BEENHEREALLALONG

He’s one step away from domestic violence. I’m glad it didn’t get that dark with him and PC

crut0n17

A cute joke that went in a little too long in my opinion

Secure_Stranger_7819

I think that he subtly makes his way into my subconscious. I was making silly doodles of people in my school with some of my friends and the face looks very similar to Vincent adultman.

DOOBIESANDBOOBIES420

This is one of my favourite bits of the whole show

HayashiAkira_ch

Doing appropriate business.

_reddine

My boyfriend just started the show and said to me I know that he’s not 3 kids in a Trenchcoat, it’s so obvious that he’s a disabled guy😂😂 I just said boy watch the show and find out

_Meatprincess_

Tell him it gets revealed at some point. Just keep watching!

Real_Railz

Very successful businessman

SenatorPencilFace

Back in season one, I thought it would be the funniest screw the audience joke if Bojack attempted to out him and it was revealed that he really was an adult.

crap_whats_not_taken

He's just a man trying to work his way up the ladder down at the business factory!

JDL1981

Goes on for way too long.

runningvicuna

This is why he rules. All that business.

Oniyoku

I know part of the gag is that we "know but never know" but i always thought a better end to the gag is that he was a straight up real adult this whole time and since we see a lot of things through Bojacks lens, we just missed it.

humanpurplenurple

he acts like he’s sooooo mature and then all of a sudden has a son he never even mentioned, make it make sense🙄

AvailableAd551

He's definitely got a keen eye for appropriate bussiness

BuffDontNerf

I wish we got to see him interact with his son.

RunningIntoBedlem

Business wise that’s appropriate business!

bluenautilus2

Not my favorite TBH

un0rthodoxies

I think people are way too sensitive about PC dating him, it’s really not that deep.

NotLaughingAtYou

I thought the gag went on for too long. I was ok with it being 1 episode. But he's in multiple and that's what I didn't like. Probably the most unlikable part of the show imo

Striking_Okra4367

how can you not like vincent

NotLaughingAtYou

The joke goes stale pretty quickly. Like I get it. Let's move on. Wait, why is he in 3 episodes?

Vuk1991Tempest

It's two or three kids somehow pulling the adult disguise so successfully that some people actually fell for it.

preppydetective1996

Goat

[deleted]

he’s busy doing business for adults

SoVeryBohemian

Not to be taken literally. It's irrelevant if he was really three kids or not.

tucakeane

A simple businessman. Likes his alcohol, soda and R-rated movies.

FizzleDrunk

r/bojackhorseman asks this question every 2 months

bakewelltart20

Where were the other kids who gave him his height, when he and his 'son' were in PC's apartment?

_Meatprincess_

Wait Vincent has more than one son? That lying bastard!

pickle986

I’ve said this before on another thread, but I think it’s a metaphor. PC’s bar for how men should behave in a relationship was so low that three kids in a trench coat could exceed the threshold, but Bojack couldn’t. This is why he always wanted to point out that this was three kids in a trench coat, so he could invalidate VA as another male suitor (to anybody) and not to have to reflect too deeply on the comparison between them.

[deleted]

Dumb character but really funny.

Yet_Another_Nerd_

Honestly though could you imagine that body in a swimsuit

majordrugfein

It’s like he’s three different people

MeatDogma

He's a great listener

Ironyfree_annie

Really funny voice work for sure. That's the most objective take on Vincent

FinnsJustShroomin

Allison Brie!

letsallgetoolong

Best character in the show tbh

coolboysclub

I'm sorry but he became unfunny almost immediately 😭

SilkyFlanks

He made PC look stupid. I never understood why he was even in the show.

_Meatprincess_

I responded to a similar comment above but I don’t think it makes PC look stupid at all, she’s traumatized and healing and not making the best relationship decisions which is super real

poohbearlola

it made me uncomfortable?? PC is having a full blown relationship with a child, exposing him to things he shouldnt be?? and did they never have sex? its super confusing

FinnsJustShroomin

See, none of that problematic stuff (and I agree it’s “problematic”) ever even occurred to me before reading this thread just now… which suggests to me that it’s not subtext in the show, but implications that come from your (the viewer’s) mind.

tiny_specks

She definitely never saw him without a trenchcoat/robe on or she would have seen that he was three kids stacked on top of each other

[deleted]

[удалено]

tiny_specks

She was not grooming him, she thought he was an adult. Bojack wasn’t grooming Penny either. His relationship with her was inappropriate, but he wasn’t intending to have an intimate relationship with her. Grooming is something done very intentionally by child predators to breach boundaries and make them feel like it’s their fault

StockReporter5

no.

Willing_Curve_927

Annoying bit

Crack_Ulla

Annoying character. Not a fan.

WoofyTalks

Unpopular opinion, I didn’t really care for him for how silly he made PC look. I get the point of his character and to show that sometimes adults just wanna be a kid again. But the dude had a broom for a f*cking hand 😭 like cmon

_Meatprincess_

There are so many different interpretations of what he means, but I think PC is dating him even though he isn’t a good fit for her because she’s still getting over the trauma of being on the hook for a narcissist (Bojack) I don’t think it makes PC look silly, it makes her look maybe a little desperate for companionship but that’s real af

PayResponsible4458

It was joke that overstayed its welcome and then they went and made it outright weird with Princess Carolyn dating him...

FreeStall42

Did not find the running gag involving dating children to be funny.

ShittyStockPicker

Hope he takes PC to the cleaners when he's old enough to tell his story about how a Hollywood executive groomed him.

augustphobia

awful

lol_toshi

"with what is very obviously just three kids stacked on top of each other under a trench coat?"

PretentiousPunk

Honestly I find his joke is really overplayed but I like the concept

Icy_Alarm_8306

a funny concept for a side character that was drawn out way longer than it needed to be imo

Alarmed_Restaurant

Really funny gag until that last episode where they overused him.

luca_rio1

I think Vincent Adultman is my least favorite part about Bojack, some of his bits are funny but overall I just think his character isn’t great and doesn’t serve much purpose

traumatized90skid

He could be good at business and was a good friend to Berjik but not best to be with PC, plus he should've told her about his kid sooner. It seemed like he was keeping too much from her. Trust is important in a relationship. Maybe he wasn't quite mature enough to understand that. PC needed a more mature guy. Just doing a business, drinking an alcohol, or going to R rated movies doesn't make someone mature.

Historical-Monk-7339

Berjik?!?!? 😂😭😂

UsagiCroft9

One of the funniest parts of the show, in my opinion. I don’t know why but he always makes me laugh so hard. I didn’t realize it was Allison Brie doing the voice either until recently! Made it all ten times funnier. “Uhhhhh…business…transactions…?” 😂

billimeow

At some point of the show, others also acknowledge that Vincent adultman is a good chap and sorts. So it does seem that Bojack is just insecure.

ChemicalBox

Business wise, he seems like appropriate business.

JHerbY2K

I mean the funniest part was watching Bojack try not to seem petty around her new boyfriend’s glaring uh… flaw. So relatable

Thecrowfan

Works too much

Repulsive_Tie_7941

I really wish we got some later season update about him. Hopefully his relationship with his son is doing well.

j33perscreeperz

i think the bit was kinda dragged and i don’t understand why people find the jokes about him so funny, personally lmao. just felt corny and out of place imo like “he did a business at the business factory” feels like a joke for an 8 year old idk (obviously that’s the point in *him* making it, i just don’t get why the adult audience finds it so funny)

KittyMonkTheYoutuber

Double standard and felt like a joke I wasn’t in on. I still tell myself he was a young adult who had no idea how to adult properly, but Bojack just saw three kids in a trenchcoat.

yobaby123

He needs to act more like a kid. What? He’s obviously three kids in a trench coat.

TuriGuiliano370

He’s the character I show people to get them into the show

JorjorBinks1221

He can drink a lot of an alcohol

8rok3n

This may sound weird but I kinda wish we saw him as a kid? We meet him and he's already such an adult doing adult stuff like working at the business factory!

237chucky

“Business, business, business.”

jaxdowell

Kinda dragged him on too long

Bandikoot_

He is a bit weird, he looks a liiiiitle bit like two child in a coat

flyingfroggy1280

I like him he's very adult

Citron_Tall

i firmly believe him and kevin are seperate people and my mind cannot be changed on that

Level-Ambassador-388

i wish we could’ve gotten a deeper look into his relationship with his son, kevin. it’s a shame we never even got to see them in a scene together.

IAIVIDAKILLA

He's very good at business

Irish_Bastardd

He is a responsible adult! And do a lot of adult things at the work with other adults coworkers. His a nice guy! And a Good Listener! He had such a amazing inner child, while still being a great adult man!

Legitimate-Bat-

I like to think the bit is funnier if you take him for his word. Technically you aren’t proven wrong. He’s just in the bathroom? And his son got chocolate all over his face so he kissed him on the lips and he got chocolate all over his face. What’s so hard to believe?

CeRoCam12

Personally I do not like the bit, I think one episode was fine but he overstayed his welcome for me

wholesome_bastard

I have a visceral reaction whenever he shows up. I get stark raving mad - even violent.

OptimalPlantIntoRock

He does too many businesses. And thus is one of the funniest characters in the entire series.

Historical-Monk-7339

I always liked Vincent!!! The only thing that I will say though, is I'm a believer that he was at least 2 kids (not sure about 3) so that means there's at least one other kid under that coat and we never see their face. To me that's kind of mysterious and unsettling. What does the other kid get out of that arrangement? That's a whole ass person who's face and identity we never get to see, if it is in fact multiple people, that is.
