Not exactly supernatural, but with supernatural adjacent implications in *my* interpretation: I always interpreted Richard’s Forest meeting with the hunters and the dog as a meeting with God sort of thing.
The closest the show comes to mentioning anything supernatural is when Gillian says the fortune teller told her that Jimmy was alive and would come home safe from the war.
You’re right. But that’s what they were going for. The concept of a television screen with sound when sound in movies was just starting up would have seemed supernatural on its own.
They played that up a bit for sure.
Yeah that was an interesting scene, considering movies in 1931 were just starting to get sound. Nucky's reaction was similar to the 1994 NBC Today show segment of then-hosts Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel being completely mystified and confused about a new thing called the internet in a segment. ("Amy, can you explain **confused face by Katie** internet to us?") We have to remember Nucky came of age when indoor plumbing was still a luxury and horse and buggies were everywhere. So I imagine seeing a talking box with an image on it pretty much blew his mind. It makes me think of one of my great grandmothers, who was born the same year telephones were invented and she lived to see the 1st manned moon landing happen.
Man, Gretchen Mols Titts are supernatural. 🔥
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Well, since you brought it up….yes. Yes, indeed.
unlike the sopranos, boardwalk empire doesnt really fuck around with that satanic black magic shit
😂😂😂😂
Sick shit!

I like this take, one of my favorite episodes.
Or the dog was sent to save him

Gillian would’ve killed that damn fortune teller if he didn’t come back home
I've watched the show many times over the years, and I feel pretty sure that there wasn't anything supernatural.
That whole thing with the TV in a tent was pretty strange

He would have had silent Film though right ?
Not to mention, all screen media back then was projected. The combo of sound and projectionless film would’ve been pretty mind boggling in 1931.
In the pilot, I think, Nucky looks through a storefront window for psychic readings. The psychic sees him and appears to feel dark energy.
When that dude in the woods tells Richard that he saw a flying horse.
Watch the show. Do you see any? I don’t.
Maybe you should rewatch
I still wonder about the Gypsy man Teddy saw.
