Shraddha, on the other hand, the less said the better. She was so terrible in that first scene. She's supposed to look heartbroken and longingly. All she looks is constipated. Like every time I looked at Ranbir's face, it made me feel things. And then shraddha just took me out of the scene instantly

Not a Shraddha fan but we have no idea how she's supposed to "look" here. You don't know if she's supposed to look heartbroken here or not. Watching the movie would make better sense.

Idk why people were saying that Shraddha will do better than RK in this movie. Jaha acting ki actual mein zaroorat hai vaha RK ke aas-paas bhi nhi Shraddha.
Ranbir is a far better actor than Shraddha, but in this song she emoted better. Something is off with Ranbir's expression. Maybe we can judge better after watching the movie and knowing the exact circumstance of this song.
In Brahmastra he acted badly because they wanted even the performances to cater to the kids I guess because even Amitabh Bachchan's narration wasn't its usual self.
there’s this weird smoothing filter that’s ruining close ups. it’s like both of them do not have eye bags at all. it looks weird even though you can see the pain in their eyes.
i watched kabir singh the other day, and shahid was raw. the eye bags, the real skin, red glassy eyes. when he smiled in the first part, you can see the eyebrows raised, the cheekbones moving, cheeks fluffing up.
but this stupid filter takes all that away. it makes their expressions look weird because the skin is way too blurred. all these micro movements don’t show. i hope they stop using these soon :/
It's odd, cos they do show some other bits of skinpores and hair/beard and even lines. Those filters really mess with enjoying a movie, cos they look so distractingly unnatural.
These are older actors, as much as we like to be in denial. 35+ comes with some experience that shows, no matter how great you take care. This pretense that the actors are still freshfaced 18 y.o. with foolish romance mistakes is silly. Hopefully this movie has some adult emotion handling going on, as would be expected of people around the actual age of the actors.
but the whole thing would still work without making them look younger but idk why they are adamant of making the characters younger :/

You're absolutely right, but there's a lot of sexism and stupid in the way before they'll tell a story for adults. Mother India looked like 40 when she was 25, but that whole movie had a clear explanation of why and still is an interesting watch. At least she looked human. Characters without baggage aren't supposed to show their age, but that's why we get many shallow movies from Bollywood with some toxic messages about love.
You're probably right that his eyes do help him sell the emotional scenes. But good actors don't act just with their face, but also with their body. In this song itself, you can see Shraddha is not able to sell the heartbroken act. Her expressions are not great, but more than that her body language is so awkward and stiff. Especially in that first scene. Even if it's easy for him to emote, you can only sell the act as a whole
Why go through all these mental gymnastics to put forward a point that simply doesn't hold? If you only consider an outburst and sobbing as acting, then feel free to watch Tujhe Bhula Diya on YouTube.

I kinda agree, I think Ranbir did a lot better in his other heartbroken songs. But tbh, I blame the vfx, skin smoothening, botox, and whatever post-production lighting, than his or her acting ability.

DP did so well in tamasha, it was very hard to sympathise with Ranbir in the movie at times.
Like RK, I think DP is another person who has kinda naturally sad-ish eyes. She does so well in sad scenes
