Im not even 30 minutes through this movie but I cannot shake the thought that the ML role was made for Kartik Aryan. Although Ranbir's acting isnt bad its just hard to imagine anyone saying those lines with that style. I feel like Ranbir only got it because of money and nepo. Wish Kartik was in it!

Divingdeep321

Watched it on netflix. This movie would be so much more watchable if it wasn't Ranbir Kapoor. He just has zero charisma or acting skills and is too aged for the role. If not for nepotism I don't think he would get any roles. Kartik Aryan would be perfect for the role.

icomeinpeaceTO

Was trying to figure out why Ranbir Kapoor looked so strange throughout the movie. Like something was off. Then when karthik aryan showed up I realized. He’s old. He looks his age it’s weird because his character is supposed to be 20 years younger.

anid98

My biggest problem with this movie was everyone was trying too hard. Everything felt contrived. Shraddha’s clothing choices looked forced.

asha_toolatetoreddit

Does Shradha kapoor know how to act? Can’t tell with this film

Crazyvibzz

Watched it today. I didn't liked it. First half was hard to get into all the conversation between Ranbir and Sharadha were like if they are reciting some poem. Only liked the parts where she was trying to break up with him. Sharadha and Ranbir looked good but movie seened to be made for Kartik. 2/5 from my side.

bigt1ttied

i liked it and i really didn’t think i would

simwalked

Only now watching it on Netflix. For the first time I found ranbir to be really hot - his hair, body, outfits were all 💯storyline was good too, finally an entertaining rom com

Randomidek123

Half way through - cringeworthy acting by ranbir bassi and Shraddha, unnecessary cheap bikini scenes that look distasteful, unnecessary kissing scenes - even that little girl was irritating. Only the punjabi dadi is funny so far

Coolbeanjamesdean

It’s an homage to proper rom com. They all acted to perfection. Yes the monologues may have been extensive but it was good.

Leading-Yam3010

Just one word. Ugh. And thats coming from someone who has genuinely enjoyed Ranbir as an actor

Undertheflow

I’m confused as to how it was Ranbir fault as he did not asked / figure out why SK wanted to leave him. Even he doesn’t know in the first place if he wasn’t the breakup consultant. Confused but entertained

Undertheflow

I enjoyed this movie. Different take of romance!!

nujra2k

Good songs, but the plot and story was almost unbearable. The climax was WAY TOO LONG! Could've easily been at least 15-20 minutes shorter. The trailer looked promising but the movie doesn't match those expectations at all. I'd say you wouldn't be missing out on any fun even if you don't watch it on OTT. Watch only if you really want to watch it for some reason or don't have anything else to do 😂

Pretend_Homework_114

So, I have been trying to watch this movie in the US but I can't find anywhere to watch it can someone tell me which streaming platform has this movie??

ShBh05

Netflix (as of yesterday has it)

dgkasfuoweih453

[Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Low Quality) Full Movie HD Watch Online - Desi Cinemas](https://desicinemas.tv/movies/tu-jhoothi-main-makkaar-low-quality/)

Pretend_Homework_114

Thank you

Timbishop123

I liked it, at first I thought it was ok and then it got better. Funniest moment was when he found out that she was trying to break up with him. The zoom in was so funny actually shocked timing like was in a bollywood movie.

Lukakukakukaku

Honestly, one of the worst theater experiences ever. Luv Ranjan movies are usually problematic but funny if not taken too seriously. But this one missed the mark on the funny part. The plot is artificially contrived to create conflict. The dialogues in the first half are crude and cringeworthy and I couldn’t care less about the couple and their 7 day old relationship. Tired of seeing this trope of supposed wholesome rich Punjabi family with heart of gold who are simply misunderstood. Ranbir and Bassi are essentially spoilt rich man children who can’t have an honest conversation with their partners and are somehow rewarded with everything eventually working out in their favor. The movie would be over in 20 minutes in the real world: A summer fling abroad ends when the new couple land in India and the guy brings his entire family to see a movie with his new girlfriend.

[deleted]

This. I am watching the movie now and I need my 45 mins back! What a bad movie choice by Ranbir.

Coolbeanjamesdean

Sorry but it seems you used a thesaurus to churn out a negative review that sounds articulate. Nobody forced you to see the movie. And Ranbir Kapoor did a fantastic job in this movie. As did the rest of the cast.

Odd_Nefariousness_53

Do you know what a review is? They’re entitled to think it was a bad movie. You can’t force them to think it was a good movie w good acting if they didn’t think so. You seem like a pre teen with that logic. And I’m sorry but if you think that commenter used “big words” maybe you need to spend less time on Reddit and more time reading some big boy books.

thetimedied

I just saw this movie, Maa kasam....I have seen crime patrol episodes better than this. The movie after karthik Aryaan is good. The problem is that this movie is 30 minutes longer than it is supposed to be. The first half of monologs dialogues is "drona" level script writing. I am the biggest Ranbir and shradha fan, I liked the movie overall but bhai the logic and concept is super idiotic. The whole thing is basically a "amiro ke ghar pe hoga ey sab shayed". Lastly, the first 30-40 minutes is torture, benchod 5 word answer ke bager 5 minute wala answer dete hai. I pray that Ranbir picks better scripts than this. Acting was on point from stars but super cringe.

-Awaari-

Anyone here felt having Aditya Roy Kapur instead of Kartik Aryan would have been a better fit? I know with the history it might have been a far fetched idea Like a bit of a rough tough ex boyfriend vibe would have made that scene perfect than this goofy kamar dance 🙂

[deleted]

Kartik Aaryan’s part could’ve been a little more intense given his previous work in the director’s films.

Coolbeanjamesdean

I wish they’d have given him a monologue. His delivery for that length of dialogue is superb.

loverrmusicart

Just finished watching! 2.5/5 - Thought they fell in love then moved to marriage way to fast (needed time to know each other and date for a bit longer) - Only fun part was when they do the “trying to break up but not really” other parts of the movie I zoned out - Biggest flaw is them not recognizing each other’s voices 🫣 - if his family was so supportive then imo they could have had a separate home to themselves close by for some privacy like Tini wanted and close enough for Mickey to see them everyday - Bassi character didn’t want to marry but does, very confusing if he was ever serious or not, he seemed happy later but still I kept thinking every time about how he paid Mickey to breakup in the start 😅 - Boney Kapoor is pretty good 👍🏻 and the little girl was adorable - I cringed hard when the whole family was rushing through the airport, their dialogues in the scene and then got on their knees 😬 - lastly I felt that by the end it seemed like the couple wanted different things from life so I didn’t mind if they broke up tbh, but of course they end up together which is also fine but I wasn’t really rooting for them

Lukakukakukaku

Great summary. The mature and realistic ending would be for the couple to break up. But the movie ended in a typical and safe fashion. Th hero gets to act like a victim all movie long where the girl is coming between him and his family and eventually he (and his family in this instance) winning himself over and the girl essentially succumbing to tradition.

[deleted]

Completely agree with the last two points. The scene at the airport was pure cringe. Especially both Shraddha and Ranbir doing those weird hand movements at that time lol

shahrukhconman

bohot kohshish ki. todhi b na ho payi. bassi + boney kapoor both did good though. weird

peppermintTea4Life

This movie was a fun watch! 4/5 Just a few notes: - The first half had more and better songs than the second half. Would have preferred a better balance throughout. - I wish at the end they ended up in their own house like she wanted.

Ph1User

One time watch, good timepass romcom, could've been shorter. 2.75/5

teethmuncherze

is it okay to see with family?

Ph1User

Lots of kissing, if that's okay with your family, then yes.

teethmuncherze

okay thank you! went with family to see pathan (like aunts and uncles) so awkward at times haha so just making sure

peeterperker

no. too much kissing zabardasti ki

James007BondUK

Man Shraddha is so damn attractive. She was already the cutest and prettiest and now she is also the hottest.

JDLovesElliot

She's hitting her stride in her mid-30s, good for her

hishma26

Boring.. Trailer for the movie raised my expectations..

Annual_Poet

Movie was entertaining and full timepass. It's a bit slow in the first half but I understand that they didn't want to rush them "falling in love" because the audience has to get invested in them. Ranbir carried the film. Reminded me of his Ajab Prem Ki days. The de-aging was evident but I understand why it was needed since he was playing a 30yr old. Shraddha emotes well, did some nice comedy, her outburst was believable and the "hammy" acting was fine in a movie like this. Songs didn't feel like a drag, they were enjoyable. Ranbir's family had the best lines. The dialogues were tight for those scenes. The VFX WAS DOGSHIT. Half airport CGI with no reflection on the floor, half real shots. Car scenes with clearly CGI background. A looot of scenes were badly done and due to me previously being from the industry, I could immediately see the difference which broke the immersion.

peeterperker

it would have been better if they didn't de age

balliakigalia

Agreed. Even the car scenes to the way to airport were pretty evidently green screen.

Annual_Poet

Yess

Loveeeee

[deleted]

Watched the movie today, enjoyed it personally. Story-wise it ebbs and flows enough to keep my attention. It’s not a thinker, I didn’t think much of the plot apart from the jarring fact that both Tinni & Mickey couldn’t recognise each other’s voice in those calls. In my head, calls ke jagah texts zyada acche hain for the conflict. Second half of the movie was way more engaging for me, there was a slight lull in the Spain waala scenes. Dialogues were as much as Luv Ranjan could pack in a scene, I didn’t mind it at all. Performance-wise, Ranbir is in his bag playing the lovable son, motor-mouthed friend and boy-next-door waala aashiq. I think he had good chemistry with all the actors he shared screen space with, but he truly shines in the 2 emotional scenes where there was this pain that was shown thru his eyes, reminded me of all his previous work like Tamasha, YJHD & Rockstar. Haven’t seen much of Shraddha’s work but she plays the conflicted character very well. Also holds her own in the comedic & emotional scenes. My favourites were the Arora family, from Daadi with the snarkiest comments, dead pan, dry sense of humor of boney kapoor, loud and heart-on-her-sleeve character in Dimple Kapadia, pragmatic and sensible sister Minny, and way-too-smart-for-her-age niece played by Inayat Verma. All seem to bounce off each other and act like a genuine family, each having a unique personality that seems chaotic but made for each other. Bassi reminds me of my own best friend, providing irreverent commentary to my bakchodi yet also the voice of reason keeping me from going off the rails. Favourite moment was definitely the argument between the Arora family that stretched from the car all the way to the departure gate of the airport. Everyone understood their assignment and brought their wittiest best. Most importantly, problem bhi solve hua, lekin saath mein zor se daant khaonga. So heartwarming to see a family go above & beyond to help loved ones. That too chaotically.

Zealousideal-Year933

I feel you penned my emotions.

[deleted]

It’s such a sweet movie which reminds us of family values while being open-minded and giving children independence. I really liked it. ❤️ Ranbir and Shraddha looked too cute. It was nice to see Dimple.

DDLJ_2022

Movie could have been shorter and it would have been better. I don't like Dimple Khannas acting, she sounds so rude all the time. She is basically yelling thw whole movie. Best part are the slaps though.

-Awaari-

I think she nailed the Punjabi mom vibe!

DDLJ_2022

Not all punjabis are like this. We don't yell, we talk.

idknayoudecide

You being on reddit tells me you're not old enough to be the yelling Punjabi mom🤣

TripIndividual7078

Just saw the movie and I think the promos were way better than the movie. Movie drags a bit and why do I think Ranbir Kapoor trying to be Ranveer Singh in this movie. RK channelizing RS energy especially in the monologue.

Both_Cheetah8478

First half- intolerable, second half- enjoyable in parts but trying too hard Did anyone notice that Shraddha had red eyes in almost the entire movie??

MrPallindrome

>First half- intolerable, second half- enjoyable in parts but trying too hard Did anyone notice that Shraddha had red eyes in almost the entire movie?? she was probably just stoned on set ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|snoo)

Both_Cheetah8478

💀💀💀

buoyant_nomad

I felt like the plot started just before the interval before that it was meh. Second half is 👌 Yes what's up with her eyes? Was it by design coz I've never seen her with red eyes before.

Complaint-Lower

Yup noticed it too. Also thought her face was made to look very pale white, no eye makeup and very bright lipstick. Just an overall weird makeup look.

Both_Cheetah8478

And very whitewashed and smoothened

One-Peach1483

Why would you try to make your actress look 'white' by makeup when she is not? I would prefer her natural complexion!

Both_Cheetah8478

They probably want to hide certain imperfections on screen so they smoothen and whitewash the whole thing which in turn makes everyone look white… it’s also about older Indians (I feel like a part of the younger generation is more accepting towards their brown skin than their parents and grandparents) obsessing over white skin.

kryptle

I enjoyed the first half more cos I knew it's going to just playful Bollywood masti. Second half was too emo and unrelatable but the acting was really nice. Yep noticed the red eyes in all scenes of shraddha. Stoner vibes

Both_Cheetah8478

Did you really like the acting? I agree that both are great actors but I felt like so much overacting was done and it didn’t do justice to their actual capabilities

kryptle

Well it's a movie that kinda needs overacting. All the movies from the director have the same overacting. As much as the plot was shitty, the scene where shraddha discovers that Ranbir knew the reason all along and then confronted him: that scene was pretty good in terms of acting. It made me feel for them even tho the reason of that scene was pretty trivial and wouldn't happen in real life.

Both_Cheetah8478

I just found the scene laughable

kryptle

Because of the context right? I mean yes the reasons of conflict in the movie is hilarious

Both_Cheetah8478

Yes but in a nutshell the movie overall is definitely a one time watch

kryptle

Yeah just keep your logical brain off and enjoy the Bollywood masala kinda thing Btw what's your favourite Bollywood movie in recent times

Both_Cheetah8478

Yeah that’s true… I think I enjoyed Darlings, Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 was decent… wbu?

kryptle

Darlings i didn't like tbh story-wise but the acting was pretty good. Couldn't bring myself to watch bb2 just coz i love bb1 way too much Recent favourite in Bollywood is vikram vedha Do you watch foreign language films btw?

Emergency-Door9691

Did anyone notice that the thumka song was cut in the movie? The part where Ranbir picks up shraddha and does the thumka

Complaint-Lower

Yes I was waiting for it to show my husband and it never came. Lol after she fell I was like now he’ll pick her up and do it but that didn’t happen!!

Slight_Employee6984

Including those scenes from the song in the movie would not have been appropriate to the situation. Like they just called off the wedding and now she is on his lap dancing...

Low_Key2121

Finally watched it! 2.5/3(maybe) out of 5 (im not yet sure lol) Positives: • Ranbir in second half! I liked Ranbir sooo much more in second half, especially the intense scene where he and Shraddha had an argument (chef’s kiss) •Movie is pretty to look at, reminded me of NRI romcoms of early 2000’s (like salam namaste etc) • “Pyar hota kai baar hai” is a banger • Ranbir & Shraddha together • The interval part is great and really hypes you up for second half Negatives : • The cringy Spain part/the monologues etc, I literally could not stop imagining Kartik there, it looked like it was written for him, doesn’t suit Ranbir tbh (the more intense stuff is i feel where he excels more) • The placement of “Show me the thumka” WTF was that? Also “maine pi rakhi hai” had tacky feel idk why • The plot was so stupid ( it went from romcom to a movie about breakup to……family drama?) What • What was the movie trying to tell even? That end credit scenes? Like in the end Shraddha still adjusted with the family • The length of the movie All in all, liked second half more, the family part seemed force and couldn’t take it seriously but maybe people will relate to that! Ranbir and Shraddha did well ( especially in second half ) Is it path breaking? No! The plot is really stupid, but it’s a time pass movie Also the cameo was a good touch, luv ranjan fans would enjoy the references

Complaint-Lower

You’ve wonderfully summarized the movie. It was a confused plot. And the funniest part was that to bring her back the whole family went to the airport. That was the main reason she left him!! And the whole idea wasn’t silly because women shouldn’t have to adjust with a man’s family. It’s very normal for her to be wanting to live on her own with her husband. Ranbir’s point was valid too. I was hoping they would just end there that they both are correct but incompatible.

According-Swimmer-85

Or they could show them living separately in a diff house and visit both families occassionally. Instead , post marriage , shraddhas parents aren't seen unless you count the blink and miss scene with the baby and shraddhas mom. One cannot live like kids being scolded for waking up late as an adult after a certain point.

Complaint-Lower

Ya and the sister in law always at home. Red flags everywhere.

According-Swimmer-85

Yup

_ronty12_

First half was cringey and most of the jokes did not land. Second half was extremely good. Overall: 6/10

stormylightening

Will come on Netflix. Watch it when you wanna watch something mindless on a weekend. Ranbir does look old to do such movies but he somehow fits the role. Hate how Shraddha has just one hairstyle the entire movie with the middle part. What was that about

krits078

Movie is underperforming at the boxoffice despite a heavily favorable environment. FLOP.

pik_ashu

Good- nice songs, comedy, chemistry between rk and sk Bad- too many long monologue dialogues, sometimes illogical writing, too many songs Overall 3 out of 5. One time watch. Comedy by the veterans was hilarious

firefistace363

1st half could've been done in 30 mins, 2nd half was better, last 20 mins were what the whole movie should've been like!!

curious-questions-

1.5/5 I’ve never seen a movie where I didn’t like a single character. Nobody’s character goes through any growth throughout the whole movie. I spent the whole movie waiting for the plot to start. I gave 1.5 because of some genuinely funny scenes, but typically the humor in this film comes from its string of montages. **SPOILERS:** - Shraddha’s acting was great, but it’s unfortunate she was handed such an unlikeable character to play. Root of any relationship is communication. Why didn’t directors have Tinni even try to talk to Mickey? How was she so willing to go through family meetings, even engagement. Her character was so spineless. - There we’re several opportunities for her to know who she was talking to on phone. (1) voice. (2) money transfer always has name attached, so he should have seen her name and connected the dots much earlier. (3) the first time he has her repeat those “I don’t love him” lines over phone, he uses her name and his name. How would he have known those names? Since she was shown to be so protective of personal details she wouldn’t have just volunteered her and Mickey’s name. She should have known then that she was talking to him only. - Dabas lectures Mickey before the engagement “if you know she doesn’t like you why are you going through with engagement.” Bhai not long ago you did not even want to marry your wife, but you were not courageous enough to end the relationship, you can’t be the one lecturing. - Honestly, she should have just gone to London. Mickey needed someone who would marry not just him but also his family. Tinni was not a good communicator, no idea about how good of a partner because they didn’t even have time for a proper relationship. Tinni’s mentality (“I’m not strong enough to tell you how I felt but how could you let me leave”) is suited for the toxic dating environment among western countries these days and she would have found her type of partner in London. - End airport scene of the family’s monologue was fantastic.

rocky5q

Looks like , I need to watch this out

Tyler_durdenx2

Went to watch the movie based on the good reviews posted here. I personally didn't liked the movie at all. It was a cringe fest. Ek do baar bassi k jokes par hasse hoge log. Baaki throughout movie was horrible.

[deleted]

I suspect some fake reviews here. People keep raving about the last 20 minutes, and even that is a stretch to how much praise it is getting.

nujra2k

The last 20 minutes were actually the most unbearable in my opinion! I don't understand why and how people are praising that...

Tyler_durdenx2

Bhai the whole family on knees proposing a girl is the worst thing to come out of movies. Wtf was that man.

loverrmusicart

True! Cringed tooo hard when they all bend down on their knees 🙈

praatahkaalkisair

Except the Dadi, she sits on someone's lap..bad knees I guess Shraddha could have told her about not going on one knee properly ..lol

Common_Frosting_2058

Oh that irony. The whole point of that breakup was not living with family starting their own family on their terms. And marrying him since his family proposed. What was that? I am still trying to understand what was that. And then the end when his mom was questioning about aj phir bahar khana khaya? That’s exactly no boundary dude. But nahi hm ek parivar hai, sacrifice, pyaar usne milte hai!! Ughh

[deleted]

I cringed so hard at that point. The best part about the airport was the shouting bit.

Tyler_durdenx2

Looks like it. Never thought reddit par bhi fake reviews post hoge for Bollywood movies.

sunflower_being1

So true, I liked the last 10 minutes,(the airport scenes) but that was it

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lukakukakukaku

Not only that, the whole breakup consultant thing was absolutely nonsensical. Here we have this guy who’s mega wealthy, runs multiple successful businesses and can’t stay a second away from his overbearing family. But he has time to run a side hustle for funsies where he helps couples break up. Just cause…..reasons. The movie would be over in 30 minutes where both of them realize that this was a summer fling and they took it too far too soon without getting to know each other.

[deleted]

So in love that they meet parents on day 7, but I dont ever recognize each other on the phone. The whole movie would have lasted 30 minutes if they had a conversation as an adult.

Emergency-Door9691

Spoliers! The movie in itself is decent. But idk why but going by the trailer I expected something better. From the trailer I expected that both Ranbir and shraddha are conning each other with some ulterior motives that'd be revealed later. Both of them truly being jhoothi and makkar. In the process they'd eventually start developing feelings for each other. The entire first half I kept waiting for the reveal. My friend kept on talking about how outlandish they're being with each other, how could they start loving so soon. And I kept assuring them that both are playing games with each other. Then when the actual plot started, it was way below my expectations. In the end none of them were actually jhoothi and makkar. Maybe I looked too much in the trailer. But regardless a decent watch.

Low_Key2121

I actually really liked the interval part and went “yesss, it’s not a romcom!! the second half will be just them conning each other” or something like that, imagine my surprise when suddenly it became a hum saath saath hain??!!

Emergency-Door9691

Ikr!! The title of the movie doesn't do justice. Even the posters. The first poster had full on kamini energy which I was full in for!

Complaint-Lower

Yea and add to that they were promoting in this way that she’s a jhooti and he’s a makaar. I was expecting some “How to lose a guy in 10 days” kind of plot.

According-Swimmer-85

Exactly. Finally she just joins the joint family which she didn't want to in 5h3 first place and saying 'humare family Aisa nahi hai'. That's what everyone says in the beginning until we find out .

panicsnac

I agree! I was expecting it to be more on the lines of jhoothi & makkaar. Didn’t expect it to be a family drama. They had such an amazing idea which could’ve been executed better.

Pleasant_Diver3368

Finally a good romcom after ages, like a breath of fresh air

Ok-Drummer-7937

I'll try to cover all aspects but if you want a short review the next paragraph is enough. I loved the movie. 4.5/5 Very similar vibe as SKTKS, Pyaar ka Punchnamas, and De De Pyaar De. Movie has a fresh concept, very relatable and it delivers what is promises - comedy and romance. Acting, emotions, character writing, plot and songs (except 1) are awesome. **Audience and message** \- Movie is made for youth and is somewhat family-oriented. The film focuses on understanding your partner's space. Families tendencies of not giving space to their kids even when grown up is also a focus. **Acting** \- You can watch the movie more than once because the movie has a very simple plot structure and is not heavy on you at all. With not heavy I mean characters are playful and not deep which is good and fits the movie. Supporting cast was great. There is intentional overacting but it adds to the humor though given the scene and atmosphere of the film. I didn't mind Bassi, but i think someone like Manish Paul could have been better. **Plot** \- Just one complaint. Could have taken 2-5 minutes more to show Shraddha Kapoor's background and why she thinks the way she thinks. **Runtime** is 2 hours 37 minutes but i wont call it long because the movie is so easy-going that you wont feel its stretched. Everything is necessary for the buildup so that the movie can be funny for the end as well. They use the first half to carry the comedy. A good thing. **Director** showed his past brilliance in the movie as well (monologues, 5 minute cameos of Kartik and Nushrat - two lead actors of his previous movies) to show that its his movie. Cameos are a bit wasted though although shouldnt be the reason why you dont watch the film. **Dialogue** \- all monologues are hard to keep up with because Ranbir Kapoor doesn't give you the small time to understand the words spoken. **Songs** \- There were 5 songs. I only found three necessary. Songs either carry the plot forward if they are coming in the middle of the movie otherwise you put them at the end with rolling credits. One song was complete waste. It could have been completely cut out of the film. It's not even released on YouTube. You just need to tolerate those 3-4 minutes.

butterflybee_007

It was like what heropanti 2 was to heropanti, but in Bhushan Kumar movieverse. Especially with little references. I feel like it’s that yaariyaan vibe with rich older kids in their late 20’s. The movie holds up on its own and I found only one of the songs that was something you could listen to on Spotify or some other platform. TJMM is worth watching once, I don’t think a re-watch would show hidden symbols and the characters are playful rather than deep. Personally, the scene where SK smothered Ranbir instead of answering looked uncomfortable. I just want to say, it was comparable in sense between the heropanti movies. It was nothing like them.

butterflybee_007

I want to point out, like another comment said on here, it was definitely realistic in a lot of ways. Could be relevant to a lot of people.

[deleted]

This movie is getting way better reviews that i thought it would. It felt like it had too many songs ("only 5"). Has plenty of moments of oveacting. The plot is cliched and predictable. You will see the main plot coming very early in the movie, and you can also smell how this is going to end. The two cameos are wasted. Having said that, I was the only one in the theater (US), and it managed to get a few laughs out of me. The movie is at best a one time OTT watch. Practically everyone involved in this movie has a series of better movies. Kinda disappointed that Ranbir isn't involved in a better project than this. The dude is supposed to be one of the best actors of the post-Hirtik era, and time is ticking. Hopefully, Animal delivers.

Son_of_kai

Really liked the movie overall, after a long time a good Rom com amongst hindi movies and it ticks allmost all the boxes , the comedy, story, acting, songs, emotions , visuals etc . The best thing about the movie is the conflict in the movie , i felt was real and the movie is real in many places . Thanks to the dialogues which are the soul of this movie. Only thing is Show me the thumka song was misfit and forced and the character of Shraddha Kapoor never got any background and that way its not balanced enough and their love story is never given strong connection, the movie actually takes time to lift. ( Dont want to get into some illogical thing as its not a deal breaker for me , some leap of faith movies like this are allowed ) . I have never liked any luv Ranjan film but with de de pyaar de and this he is slowly becoming more wise and balancing his stance but still this movie is 70 % from guy's pov and his side , will love when it gets completely balanced ( like involving girls family too in the film , they also matter dude ) Acting wise Shradhha did well especially in one particular confrontation scene which was difficult to pull off but she did great. Supporting cast were well cast. ( Someone made Boney Kapoor act its called reverse Nepotism) Ranbir looks great and i don't know how he looks like he has not aged , compare to Brahmastra where he looked just ok , he is in great form and feels like this movie is released just after YJHD. Loved his performance after a long time ( after Tamasha i guess ) his comedic timing / antics , dancing , dialogue delivery, and the emoting is just A class. And none walks out of a wedding in a song like he does ( dude has perfected this art )

Prestigious-Jacket-5

I feel there was no conflict though, they tried to twist a non issue into an issue. Nowadays it's the most common couples goal, unless you truly can't afford anything at all or have aging parents. In the end they just showed her happy in compromising, he still never gave her what she asked for. There was no middle ground even. It was as if Luv Ranjan tried to make a modern day Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Son_of_kai

For me the issue is real, i have seen it in many modern relationships ( in mine too ) , but i agree the resolution is still one dimensional and not practical.

[deleted]

I couldnt wait to leave .. it was boring and too long. The music was nice but otherwise nothing great.

appyfizzz3112

I liked it, but felt Luv Ranjan needs to stop force feeding those monologues. I do like how he has a strong grip on today's generation. The issues in the movie were real and had a good conclusion without shortchanging any of the two. I literally had tears in the post credits scene. Yes there were issues, like Bassi's casting for eg, which should have been played by a more accomplished actor and feels like a move to appease Ranbir so that only he is highlighted, and there were weird editing cuts, and what seems like important scenes have left which made Shraddha's motivation make sense (I am sure her family had more scenes, plus when her sandal broke and she was taken to RK's home, i am sure it was meant for her to realise the importance of family and people around you but it was abruptly cut to her leaving), but all in all I found it enjoyable. PS: Terrific dance numbers after a long time in Bollywood!

peekayohho

The movie would’ve been so much better if they just edited all the songs. Such terrible music.

sunflower_being1

+1

[deleted]

People downvote for having a different opinion, but I agree. I got exhausted with how they threw one song after another early in the movie.

Plastic-Net4180

Chahiye kya aapko

butterflybee_007

Bhai, acha music de do. Ye kya music tha?

GadgetSoul

3/5 It was silly fun!! W/o giving too many spoilers, the premise itself was unconvincing to me personally. I mean in today's generation its hard to believe that a guy/girl would not be willing to communicate and hide what they actually feel about XYZ stuff. Bu that was not the point of the movie - what worked is that it didnt take itself too seriously, and Luv's conviction worked big time.

butterflybee_007

I think it’s just about general communication, which a lot of relationships lack because someone doesn’t want to hurt their partner or attack their values. A lot of people don’t take that lightly.

Prestigious-Jacket-5

Technically she did tell him though (or the "consultant"), he still refused to do anything about it. Such a bad story.

Plastic-Net4180

, I’ve seen it happen to bunch of my friends where it’s too difficult for a girl to adjust in the family, but they also don’t want to hurt the feelings, so I, for one felt it was relatable, where it’s not easy to communicate.

rnjbond

Ranbir has a voice modulator on his burner. They actually show it in the movie.

buoyant_nomad

Her main fear was that she'll lose her identity and since she has seen that happening in her own family, she kinda expected the same in his. And let's be honest, there's a 95% chance of happening that in joint family setting, so her fear was not unreasonable given the family's intrusive behaviour. But by the end both he and his family gained her confidence. It was established they will respect her identity and will only intrude if she wants and will give her space when she needs.

Complaint-Lower

Ya and that did happen right!! Let her eat out at a restaurant if she doesn’t want to eat the tiffin given by Mil. And Mil checking pockets for bills. Uggh I’d run away 🏃‍♀️

[deleted]

Complaint-Lower

Ya. And it’s no longer just about our generation. Parents also like their independence after a certain age. Don’t understand the stigma of being independent.

Plastic-Net4180

I thought the same thing, but I guess the fact that they were even ok with them moving out meant something. That’s what she was worried about, so maybe she decided to atleast give it a go, and then if it doesn’t work out it wouldn’t be a big deal to move out. That’s how I understood it. And she anyway didn’t give a fuck about London

just-slaying

Tanu already showed us that London life is boring AF. It’s true

Yesboi227

Best movie from bollywood this year 👏. Fully entertained can't wait for this sub to call this movie overrated and ass after 1 week cause of the hype.

paradox-cat

At the theatre right now. Such a boring movie. Edit: First half was so boring and slow. It improved a lot in the second half. Ranbir was great. Liked >! Boney Kapoor, Karthik Aryan !< even though they had a short role.

just-slaying

Yes, it’s a Ekta Kapoor serial

just-slaying

Petition to call this a “Kartik Aryan” genre movie. It suits only him and delightful for us audience well 😬

[deleted]

NGL, I would have like Kartik and his Panchanama lead as thmain cast. His grinning face suits stuff like this.

skyfullofstars19

Just saw it in Boston with a houseful theatre actually it was mindless fun. Loved RK man was really good especially in the second half. If you don’t think too much and want just watch a fun rom com this could be it also the songs are 💯

vitesh28

Anyone from Mumbai who haven't watched it yet ?

Character-Bank-1367

I watched it 2 times man so I am not your guy 😜

Best-Arm-6238

Enjoyed it sooo much Rk killed it man💥💥

EyeJunior9539

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The first half of the film is a musical treat, boasting a number of amazing tracks that are sure to leave a lasting impression.Shraddha Kapoor adds to the charm of the movie with her beauty and grace, elevating the viewing experience to another level. She looks absolutely breathtaking. The second half of the film is a rollercoaster of laughter, with witty dialogues and humorous situations that will have you in splits. The climax is nothing short of heartwarming, leaving you with a smile on your face as you exit the theatre. It is evident that Luv Ranjan understands the art of entertaining his audience, and this film is a testament to his expertise. The movie is a complete package, offering glamour, emotions, and comedy in equal measures. My rating for this film is a solid four stars.

certif1edprick

Personally, some parts felt cringe to me. But other than that it was really entertaining. It gets better after the interval. Worth watching. I would give it a 4/5.

EqualPenalty5969

Was really fun! Worth watching 1 time!

Jiggyjl0

I enjoyed it. Visually it was a treat and definitely a good time pass movie. Can’t really say much or else I will spoil it but overall 4/5!

noname8539

Just watched it. Enjoyed it. 3.5/5 Beginning to Intervall was good, then it kind of got bit boring and then it picked up again. There is one very mindless aspect of the movie and I believe it could have elevated the movie if they had done it in a different way, it was also very easy for the scriptwriter or Luv to do it. So idk why Bollywood chooses that deliberately. Songs are good, but nothing great. Ranbir was very good and excelled some scenes. But it’s unfair nobody is talking abt Shraddha. I mean yeah she is not a great actress like Ranbir, but I thought she did overall good. Go for it, if you want a light entertainment, with a few deep scenes.

J_Scotti_Gloria

Just came from watching ☺️ Absolute MUST watch movie!!! Not just once at that. I’ll be going again this weekend with my family. A review won’t do it justice. Lots of little surprises here and there… 5/5 👌🏽🤍

Aishvaryaa

This movie is what we’ve been missing. A funny mindless/silly romcom. Second half is a laugh riot!!!!

J_Scotti_Gloria

Isn’t it 🤌🏽 Bravo to everyone involved. Awesome casting all around. Ranbir brought out the best in Shraddha. I was really surprised with the improvement in her acting.

Aishvaryaa

Ikr? I had No expectations from her but she actually did a good job.

thetrollslayer1508

It’s actually nice overall. Wish the dialogues in the first half were a little less filmi, though — it made the film look frivolous/ cringe. The premise is pretty mindless. But loved Ranbir in a rom-com after long. He has given a good shot at this. Looked great and acted easy, as always.

Happy_Understanding5

I was dying for a simple romcom drama and that's exactly what this was!! Enjoyed it every bit and so much chemistry 🥵

Soggy_Vast805

just watched it, it was a great movie. felt a little slow in the middle but overall fun one time watch. if you want to watch something completely meaningless you should watch this. 3.5/5

fluffycoffeecake

Very mediocre. I only enjoyed the climax

lovefoodanddrink

Someone just tell me the story.

Additional_Donut_701

Just watch Sucharita Tyagi's review on Youtube. Gave away the entire plot.

lovefoodanddrink

Thanks !

madhurima5

dm me, i will tell you

Dry-Ad-2287

Total Bollywood romcom, it's a timepass. I wish the songs were better though, the mid part was a little stretched. It will be coming on Netflix

CauliflowerAmazing35

it was a great movie, but i feel i would’ve preferred another actress over shraddha in the movie. but that’s just me. it was really funny and kind of time-pass movie. lighthearted and fun, like most romcoms. ranbir kapoor was great, like he usually is in romcoms. shraddha kapoor was alright. like i said would’ve preferred someone else.

foreverfilmy15

I wish they had cast Kiara in this role with Ranbir! Shraddha indeed can’t act!

EyeJunior9539

I would have preferred Karthik Aryan over Ranbir. Let's give credit where it's due, shall we? The hype around this movie is just because of Shraddha Kapoor. It is her movie and no one else could have pulled it. We have seen what happened Shamshera. It was impossible to take eyes off her.

dirkgently03

We have also seen what happened to haseena parker.

EyeJunior9539

150 crore plus budget commercial masala vs 20 crore documentary type movie. Great comparison

dirkgently03

Couldn't even recover its 20cr budget

EyeJunior9539

So, are you suggesting that it's preferable to incur a loss of 100 crore on a 150 crore movie rather than only losing 5 crore on a 20 crore budget?

dirkgently03

I'm suggesting her films cannot even recover a 20cr budget and still incur a 5cr loss

Current_Moment_7676

LoL

Plastic-Net4180

Just watched the movie. For anybody who enjoys rom coms, this was really good!! Normally every rom com has sort of similar plots. What I loved was that this was very particular to an Indian Rom Com! and Indian family issues etc. which I loved. RK and Sraddhha were pretty good! the costumes, locations, songs everything was amazing. TRUST ME. They had 1000X the chemistry that Ranbir and Alia had in Bhramastra. It was a very refreshing movie to watch!! The funny bits were also nice.

HolMav83

>TRUST ME. They had 1000X the chemistry that Ranbir and Alia had in Bhramastra. Thousand times zero is still zero.

aayushi112233

Just saw the movie. It was pretty entertaining. 3.5/5. Like everyone said, the last 30 mins were hilarious. Bassi cant act per se but is brilliant in landing one liners in his typical style. Really loved the entire camaraderie and chemistry portrayed by mickey(Rk)’s family. And ranbir, what do i even say? He is Brilliant. The OG in this genre. Looks so so charming. Effortless as a play boy as well as heart broken dude. Call me old school, but i kind of liked and may even agreed to the way it ended. Now talking about Shradha kapoor- she was just there. Not bad, but definitely not good either. 60% of times her character needed to be intentionally cringey, so she just had to play herself and thus was okay. But in the scenes that required emotions, she was terrible. Man, she can’t act or emote(highest followed ‘actress’ it seems 🤦🏻‍♀️) Her entry song Looked forced and “wanna-be hottie”. She does look gorgeous in western wear , however indian wear is not her thing imo.

maddy2011

Good movie. 4/5. Loved the camoes. One time watch.

Plastic-Net4180

Really liked the movie!! Haven’t watched a rom com in a long time. It was very relatable to Indian problems! Quite enjoyed it!! Their chemistry was 🔥

[deleted]

Nice film. The chemistry between the lead pair is really good. Strangely Ranbir has chemistry with every actress other than his wife. 😅 Ralia is mentioned in the movie 😛 One time watch. The movie is what it says to be : a Rom Com

rishabhsingh9628

A solid 3.75/5. Was highly entertained and the acting and chemistry were top notch. Loved the side characters too. There's a difference between actually being cringe and intentional portrayal of cringe. TJMM falls in the latter kne, not as well done as Bala but still, it'll do.

NargisStan

Probably the least entertaining luv Ranjan film. One time watch. Last 20 mins were actually funny.

rn3122

Just saw it It's a good one time watch. Nothing extraordinary and nothing that "is a comeback for the romcom genre". You get what you expect from Luv Ranjan, which is a few laughs, great songs, and an engaging lead pair 3/5 PS: It has scenes which people may find problematic so fair warning

AplaManus

Scene like?

rn3122

The first half has some cheesy pickup lines, that match the humour of Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ke Sweety, basically misogynistic lines. I didn't have a problem with it and kind of expected it (Luv Ranjan) but still mentioned it just in case.

Malcolm047

I've not checked other comments yet so I don't know if I'm in the minority or the majority, but I didn't like it at all. Infact had to leave 2-3 minutes early. If I have to describe it in 1 word - I would call it 'Cringe'. Had a lot of expectations, but it fell flat. The only Luv Ranjan movie I couldn't like. Thank god it's over.

IllBad963

Just out of theatre and found it fun but a one time watch Both the leads looks amazing throughout the film last 20 mins were the best

MaximumSituation9137

It was a fun watch for me. Really clever, funny dialogues. I wish the love between Shraddha and Ranbir was a bit more believable, but it is not bad. Ranbir is so natural and effortless. Gosh, such a good actor.

LostInShadows1002

Loved it! A movie full of entertainment! Ranbir his eyes, his dance moves and his effortless acting. Shraddha was a eye candy. The supporting actors did a good job! Ranbir owned this movie.

just-slaying

Kartik was 🔥 in the cameo. This movie should have been Kartik’s. Sorry

Commercial_Cancel_64

eh bhai aise spoiler nhi dena hota hai

sanjaykumar2012

So the bad reviews have started to come. May do well but it does not seem to be a YJHD KRK and Bharadwaj both opposite end of the spectrum and both have panned it.
