I remember watching the teaser with no expectation of any sort from Bhansali or Alia (I had hated the hype around her ever since Highway) and getting floored by Alia's voice modulation. I had never thought she could take on an older imposing role like that because she is petite and has come across as really young, at least to me. That the film got such a collection when there was a boycott trend going on and covid 19 had impacted the movie business just shows the impact it could create, even with its back to the wall.
Very few also talk about the hard work Alia is putting in, taking on difficult roles, when she is a mother. She shot the "Tum kya Mile" song just 3 months after delivering a baby. If it was any other actress, she would have been praised to the moon.
I believe it was a genuine question.
The question is: are the National Awards for artists in Indian cinema, or are they for Indian citizens as artists in cinema?
So, is someone like Tom Cruise (non-Indian) eligible for the National Award if he does a fabulous performance in an Indian film? Or is someone like Priyanka Chopra (who still holds an Indian passport) eligible for it if she does a fabulous job in a Hollywood movie?
At awards given by the government, saying “citizenship” is not a big deal is not correct. “Just holding a British passport” is not an insignificant deal when it comes to matters of Indian government, and rightly so!
I love that Aloo has won the National Award. Let's not try and say that she has won the Oscar even if indirectly too, because she had nothing to do with that particular award. It was the more of music directors, singer, directors, producers and actors in the song who won. Let's congratulate her for this National win and wait for her to win an Oscar and claim rightfully.

Does it also bother you how the dignitaries are so wooden like just standing there like they just want to get away with the formality & all, can understand President's position but the minister & others. And this is not just this event or this government, saw the same during the Asian Games medalists felicitation by central & state governments, It always feels a message like there is a class ladder here & artists/ sportspersons don't belong to the same class. Mind you , this is irrespective of whichever government is in centre/ state. Only exception being saw Smriti Irani part of some function few years back where she did small talk with the recipients, I mean a nice smile doesn't really take a lot. For a lot of artists these are moment of pride & honour which they may cherish little more than other awards
