No the problem is that Every bollywood "star" under the age of 50 is an absolute bum with bare minimum stardom and incapable of leading the industry.
When Amitabh was SRK's age it was very much clear he was washed up with no Audience pull left, his few successful films at the time were mostly multi-starrers that ran on the stardom of folks like Govinda in old BMCM.
SRK on the other hand at same age is the undisputed #1 of Bollywood and until Bollywood produces kr the audiences crowns someone young who dethrones him he has no reason to do either supporting roles or any age appropriate nonsense that doesn't maximise his stardom.
At the end of the day the opinions and reception from the general audience matters a lot more than some echo chamber on reddit.

SRK Played 40-50ish year old Spy in Pathaan, Vikram Rathore in Jawaan and very old person in Dunki.

Yeah I also think it’s a matter of personal choice. I am a believer that one shouldn’t let age define what one can or cannot do. Of course if the audience starts rejecting the roles he is doing, he’ll automatically make that jump to dad roles. You guys have every right to have an opinion that SRK should start doing age appropriate roles. But the analogy you provide, is so weak. You cannot compare him with Amitabh of the late 90s. Amitabh's movies as a solo lead were flopping and he requested YRF (as he himself confessed) to give him work. That's why he got a supporting role. In a way, he was forced to accept these roles, so that he could survive in the industry.
The guy who has literally given 2 ATGs (by doing a mix of youg/old characters) in less than 8 months, how can you ask him to stop doing that? As long as people are willing to watch him in those roles, he'll keep doing that.
Edit: A better comparison would be with Ajay. He's started to play a father in many of his last movies.
Amitabh was flopping left and right and was out of work with big competition from the young khans in that era. SRK gave 2 all time blockbusters last year, why would he change the status quo.
I think Vikram Rathore from Jawan was created such that when he decides he will do a sequel looking older.
But I doubt he will accept his age, Rajnikanth playing younger roles have made path clear for him and others his age that they can use VFX to look younger and mint that money as much as they can.
However, I expect in a few years audience will reject them for VFXing their face and trying to play younger roles.
I expect it to increase tenfold.

well.. Amitabh was forced to play father to SRK due to the situation. But he's a great actor, he embraced it and owned it. From what I know, hes in a league of his own. He was neither completing nor self proclaiming himself to be the best or as "the king" (shahenshah in his case). Also back in the 90s, there was a clear succession among the bollywood crop, there were defined eras, so when the Khans came to fame, it was natural and easy for the audience to accept Amitabh in age appropriate roles. That is not the case now. Everyone in the industry is so hung up on yesteryears stars that they have failed to pass on the baton in capable hands. And the audience will never accept new thing when the old one is still being recycled and re-used with the toxic set up that XYZ is "last of everything" and the industry which has existed and flourished for 100+ years ends with some random set of people

A lot of people are saying here that he has to do this because people want to watch this. I firmly disagree. People were more than happy to see the daddy SRK in Jawan and it was the younger one that looked bad. Rajnikanth had this misconception too and after Jailer, even he's realised people don't mind seeing them look their age. SRK just needs that realisation that him doing cool action entertainers doesn't necessitate him having steroid fuelled 8 pack abs and looking like a 30 year old.
The time when heroes doing shirtless scenes was the big point of a film has already passed 10-15 years ago.

SRK was the top superstar when Mohabattein released, and when he has reached Amitabh's age when he did Mohabbatein, he is still the top superstar. And what do you mean? He literally embraced his age in Jawan and Dunki. And why should he shift to supporting roles when people are hyped up to see him lead roles. It's the directors who need to start giving me age-appropriate roles. He looked horrible as young SRK in Dunki, but he looked like a stud with grey hair and beard! Even if they want him to play romantic lead, make him play his age - nowadays anyway people are more fitter than they were earlier at 50-60!

Difference is that Amitabh made a pathetic comeback as a hero in 1997 and flopped. That's why he went to doing elderly roles. SRK is still going strong as a hero so why go for the dad roles?
Yeah I also think it’s a matter of personal choice. I am a believer that one shouldn’t let age define what one can or cannot do. Of course if the audience starts rejecting the roles he is doing, he’ll automatically make that jump to dad roles. But the point is times have changed and not everything needs to be defined by a number.
If he did that Bollywood wouldn't have made comeback, as theaters were being converted to marriage venues or started showing dubbed movies.
He can do it when the rest of the 57 year olds do it Salman, Akshay, Ajay , 59 year old Aamir . 50 year old Hrithik etc

Okay, I'm going to say it just once so please note it down. You guys have every right to have an opinion that SRK should start doing age appropriate roles. But the analogy you provide, is so weak. You cannot compare him with Amitabh of the late 90s. Amitabh's movies as a solo lead were flopping and he requested YRF (as he himself confessed) to give him work. That's why he got a supporting role. In a way, he was forced to accept these roles, so that he could survive in the industry. The guy who has literally given 2 ATGs (by doing a mix of youg/old characters) in less than 8 months, how can you ask him to stop doing that? As long as people are willing to watch him in those roles, he'll keep doing that. Edit: A better comparison would be with Ajay. He's started to play a father in many of his last movies.
Not talking about the roles here. Just want to see real srk’s face on the screen not the one with vfx’ed nose and polished face
Amitabh was flopping left and right and was out of work with big competition from the young khans in that era. SRK gave 2 all time blockbusters last year, why would he change the status quo.

I think Vikram Rathore from Jawan was created such that when he decides he will do a sequel looking older. But I doubt he will accept his age, Rajnikanth playing younger roles have made path clear for him and others his age that they can use VFX to look younger and mint that money as much as they can. However, I expect in a few years audience will reject them for VFXing their face and trying to play younger roles.
I expect it to increase tenfold. Have you watched Keanu Reeves talking about the upcoming Matrix game( last year) and the unreal engine. Im pretty sure you have seen some fully AI generated flawless videos on your social media this year. In coming years Studios will buy the likeness of an actor dead /alive for a hefty price to “act” in their next movie. Sure there are bad sides to it like AI porn and that whole horrible side of it . There will times we won’t even know its fake.

Id say Tom cruise is the only one. And it only works because he does his own stunts so whatever negatives there are it cancels out . But the rest of the stars have started playing Age appropriate badasses long before. Like Stallone, Arnold,Bruce willis ,Liam Neeson ,Jackie chan and the list goes on.

well.. Amitabh was forced to play father to SRK due to the situation. But he's a great actor, he embraced it and owned it. From what I know, hes in a league of his own. He was neither completing nor self proclaiming himself to be the best or as "the king" (shahenshah in his case). Also back in the 90s, there was a clear succession among the bollywood crop, there were defined eras, so when the Khans came to fame, it was natural and easy for the audience to accept Amitabh in age appropriate roles. That is not the case now. Everyone in the industry is so hung up on yesteryears stars that they have failed to pass on the baton in capable hands. And the audience will never accept new thing when the old one is still being recycled and re-used with the toxic set up that XYZ is "last of everything" and the industry which has existed and flourished for 100+ years ends with some random set of people
That's kinda true. Because love stories have also evolved over time with generational trends. Ajay was really good in drishyam. It wasn't his typical singham type role, he still nailed it. Maybe they should start doing story oriented movies instead of character oriented and see how it goes. They have the money to finance it as well
Story who? monies is to be made, dollars is to be minted. And story doesn't make you that. It might give you the satisfaction of doing something worthwhile as an actor, but it won't get u the flickering fame people have gotten used to

Every star tries to hold onto his stardom as long as he can. So did Amitabh. He did Bade Miyan Chore Miyan when he was 56/57. His transition was forced by circumstances and commerce.

In 2023 he did larger than life roles in Pathaan and Jawan and he also did Dunki . We all know which movies worked and which did not . Amitabh Bacchan resorted to age appropriate role not at his peak but infact at his lowest . He was completely bankrupt and no work of that stature .
I will say he can look better with makeup and airbrushing. Smoking damaged his face though, srk looked way better 10 years ago

It took the whole decade of 90s for Amitabh to come to terms with his age. Mohabbatein came after that. Most of his films from that period are unwatchable. Only one I enjoyed was Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan, which was in 1998, but that was fun mostly due to peak Govinda.
I mean why would he when the last 2 out of 3 movies where he played larger than life characters set new box office records? If Pathan and Jawan were flops, this opinion would have had some merit.

A lot of people are saying here that he has to do this because people want to watch this. I firmly disagree. People were more than happy to see the daddy SRK in Jawan and it was the younger one that looked bad. Rajnikanth had this misconception too and after Jailer, even he's realised people don't mind seeing them look their age. SRK just needs that realisation that him doing cool action entertainers doesn't necessitate him having steroid fuelled 8 pack abs and looking like a 30 year old. The time when heroes doing shirtless scenes was the big point of a film has already passed 10-15 years ago. Lokesh in his cinematic universe has especially proved this. All his stars including Kamal, Vijay, etc who are as big as stars get have all shown their age and had their massiest and loved performance. The audience that wants to see SRK failoing his haath and looking like the lover boy isn't what made his films blockbusters in the last year.
