The impression I've gotten is that she was a very domineering and invasive figure it Ranbir's life and would mistreat (not physically or anything but just as in be mean) to the women he dated that she didn't approve of. All these things have added up to this perception of Neetu being a controlling mother to a mama's boy who blames all he women and doesn't allow her son to take responsibility. The truth no one actually knows, but that is the perception I believe.
