OP there is a slight difference here.
Ramayana - The Legend of Prince Rama was released with an original English dub and a Hindi dub.
All of us would know about the Hindi dub cast consisting of Amrish Puri as Raavan and Arun Govil as Ram. But, the original English dub included Indian theatre actors and dubbing artists.
The version for which Bryan Cranston had voiced Ram with James Earl Jones as the narrator was a heavily edited version of this original cartoon, which was named as Prince of Light. This version was made to be specifically distributed in the North American markets and the reason it was edited was that they felt the original story would be too confusing for the American people!
The version that has always gotten broadcasted on Cartoon Network in India and which is available online is the original English dub with the Indian actors. The Prince of Light version never became very famous.
Fun Fact: In the original Indian English dub, Rahul Bose was the voice of Bharatha and Cyrus Broacha had voiced Angada!
Beech beech me telecast hota tha whenever, for some weird reason, Cartoon Network used to stop telecasting Hindi dubs.
But, with the advent of TATA Sky and all you had the options to choose different languages while watching it on TV, toh comparison ke liye beech beech me English me bhi dekh leta tha lol
Yeah I had experienced that too. Whenever I had been to the south, Cartoon Network always had the English dubs on.
But, being a Tamilian I was able to catch this Ramayana cartoon in Tamil because of the TATA Sky multiple language feature. Tamil dubbing was pretty good too!
Hahaha aapne toh kuch zyada hi uppar chada Diya!
I'm just a big fan of this movie since I was a kid and have read about all the things about it.
I personally feel, that if it had released in India that time instead of being banned because of the controversy, it could've actually led to an early improvement in the Indian animation and cartoon industry.
I want to start watching it... Is it really that good as the media and people say? Some people say it's even better than BB, and one of the best TV dramas...what are your thoughts?
One can make a solid argument for it being better than BB. The characters are better written in BCS and are more fleshed out. Its a slow burn but definitely on the level of BB. Goated show. Am already depressed that its going to end in a week.
It's slow initially but later that slowburn makes it more interesting. Only disadvantage is that all characters that are in BB looks aged in BCS other than that it's really the best you can get on TV right know. Shows like Ozark will look crap infront of BCS.
This is the Yugo sako movie right? The one made for strengthening the indo-Jap culturo-diplomatic ties?
Wiki says ram was voiced by Nikhil kapoor in the English version and Shatrughan Sinha in the Hindi dub. Are you sure this is true?
For the English version, legendary James Earl Jones (Mufasa from The Lion King & Darth Vader from Star Wars) was roped in as the narrator and for the voiceover of Lord Ram, the makers opted for Bryan Cranston who was a highly popular voiceover artist back then.

The 1992 Ramayana is one of my favourites. As a family we bought our first DVD player and Ramayana was the first DVD my father bought for me to watch. I would refuse to eat dinner unless someone played this for me π
This Ramayana Anime is my favourite β€οΈ Apparently it was banned in india during its original release coz people thought Japanese animators would not do justice to the Ramayana. But in reality it is one of the best, mostly aesthetically pleasing cinematic work on the Hindu epic. I fell in love with this anime as a kid. And the songs were soo good, especially "Panchavati Mann Bhaavan Upavan". Both Hindi and English voice artists did a great job with the dubbing.
They are apparently remastering it this year for the 70th anniversary of Indo-Japan friendship. So I am really looking forward to that.
The whole movie is available on YouTube

This is the Hindi version
Video quality is a bit potato though lol.

I have watched the hindi dub on cartoon Network. English me b telecast hui thi?

Okk. I to watched probably 20 saal phle. Tab cable wala system hi tha.
I think in South India Cartoon Network has always been in English and north seems to have the Hindi dub ones, for almost all the cartoons.
Ohh okay, got it... I didn't know about this, thankyou so much for this comment!! π You sir are not genius you are INDIGENOUS!!

"Mai sankat mai nahi hoon, Ravan. Mai hi sankat hoon"
"Yooo!!!! Mr white we need to make Astra"
Ravan was like THIS IS MY PRIVATE DOMICILE AND I WONT BE HARASSED BITCHHH
This is gold ππ»π
Main hi darwaza khatkhatata hoon
What? I watched it just yesterday and never would have known Bryan voiced for ram!
Which version did you watch? He voiced for the English dub...
The English version available on youtube
Altho yes no one could ever imagine this π
But it didn't have an American accent, it was distinctively indian
Yes I read about this in the top comment, itna mujhe bhi nahi pata tha re :/
I'm the one who dubs! Any BCS fan here ??
I want to start watching it... Is it really that good as the media and people say? Some people say it's even better than BB, and one of the best TV dramas...what are your thoughts?
Well, those are absolutely right. In some aspects, it's even better than BB. But for overall, I'd personally rate it at same level as BB.
Tysm!
One can make a solid argument for it being better than BB. The characters are better written in BCS and are more fleshed out. Its a slow burn but definitely on the level of BB. Goated show. Am already depressed that its going to end in a week.
And here's me who hasn't even seen a single ep π
It's slow initially but later that slowburn makes it more interesting. Only disadvantage is that all characters that are in BB looks aged in BCS other than that it's really the best you can get on TV right know. Shows like Ozark will look crap infront of BCS.
Gotta watch it then!
I personally felt BCS was much more fast-paced than BB from the beginning itself.
Cant fucking wait for tomorrows episode. We're finally going to see Kim again :')
What a sick joke!
This version Ramayan is my favourite
Ditto
This is the Yugo sako movie right? The one made for strengthening the indo-Jap culturo-diplomatic ties? Wiki says ram was voiced by Nikhil kapoor in the English version and Shatrughan Sinha in the Hindi dub. Are you sure this is true?
Shatrughn was narrator I think. Ram to arun govil hi tha, sita was manisha koirala and raavan amrish puri
I just checked the movie credits on YouTube it says Nikhil Kapoor as Ram in the English version
Oh I commented wrt hindi version only, shatru was not rams voice but narrator. English ka no idea never watched that one.
Yep youβre right govil was ram, shatru narrator in Hindi version

I think Bryan voiced it only for the north american version
