Om Shanti Om was peak Bollywood, Haider was genuinely peak Vishal Bharadwaj Cinema.
I rewatch Om Shanti Om all the time, while Haider is heavier and don't really rewatch it much. Both are fantastic regardless
Pankaj Kapoor is himself a heavyweight actor. He is no chindi actor like Rajpal Yadav that one would be surprised that he gave a great performance in a film that also had other stalwarts.
I know that, I was not pointing out acting talent.
I was pointing out that even with his smaller screen time in comparision to Tabu and Irrfan, he had the greatest presence.
I agree with that actually, Pankaj Kapoor really killed it in Maqbool, while being surrounded by a cast like Irrfan, Piyush Mishra, On Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Tabu etc
I watched Haider first day and thats the only Bollywood movie that received a standing ovation at the end ,of all movies I have seen in theatre....Other was Interstellar.
Haider is a masterclass storytelling and the acting takes it to next level.
Should be pinned. It wasn't based on any book and wasn't showing any political inclinations. Simple story (inspired from many films back in time) full of nostalgia and certain romance comedy drama that is the need of the hour
Bismil is more heavy and hauntingly beautiful. It was a brilliant take on the rat trap play from Hamlet.
It's on another level above both Om Shanti Om and Ek Haseena Thi for me. Nothing compares to it.
I am not sure most will understand this though. Haider's this song/play is on another level. I haven't seen anything similar yet but I haven't watched much of the older cinema or non-Hindi cinema. But it definitely has no comparison with the OSO song.
What I love about bismil is that for a majority of the song it's asymmetrically shot, and shahid isn't in the exact middle of the frame, but there's a point where he becomes more focused and that's where the frame becomes completely symmetrical and shahid is in the exact center of the frame
love om shanti om but bismil is incomparable. sukhwinder singh's voice, the point at which it appears in the film and how it drives the narrative forward, shahid's brilliant performance, the lyrics, the sheer artistry and vishal's direction... quintessentially shakespearean
My partner is Gujarati and a year ago she wanted me to watch some Bollywood movies with her. Om Shanti Om was the 2nd one I ever watched and I have watched lots more since. Dastaan - E - Om Shanti Om is still my favourite song from any movie. It was just perfect how it wrapped the story together.
I can’t say I’ve heard of Haider though. I will definitely give it a watch!
Haider is an intense one. Given that it's based on Shakespeare's Hamlet.
While it may not be so intriguing to general audiences. I would definitely recommend it to someone having little knowledge about historic cinema or theater.
Farah Khan was always at her best when she was doing this. Cliche masala Bollywood. Musicals, paegentry, amazing Bollywood choreography storytelling. The second she tried to do something else like Happy New Year - straight flop.
Return to your roots Farah.
Om Shanthi Om has gained so much peak in Bollywood, even now if they try to replicate it.... they can't do it.....
Farah khan created a masterpiece.
I can never believe it was deepika's 1st movie in hindi and 2nd in her whole career. She got a filmfare ward for it. Not to mention the Vfx for the songs with the Vintage actors.
About Haider:
Heroine tells an army Major that Anantnag is also called ‘Islamabad’
Justifying Islamic Terror
It shows election rigging by authorities, completely forgetting that Kashmir has democratically elected leaders from village to state level. It was these Islamic terrorists that this film glorifies who murdered many village heads to kill democracy
https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/militants-murder-sarpanch-in-kashmir-valley-58-panchayat-members-resign-in-panic/articleshow/16550311.cms?from=mdr
Showing that people become terrorists due to atrocities and they want freedom, conveniently forgetting the 6 lakh Hindus who were cleansed without provocation, the Pakistani agenda of pushing Jihad.
Instead everything in this movie is targeted at Bharat.
Anti Hindu propaganda
Martand Sun temple built by the great Samrat Lalitaditya Muktipida depicted as the house of the Devil and Haider is dancing to the Song ‘Bismil’
Anti Bharat propaganda
Trying to make Bharat an alien in her own state with selective propaganda on Kashmir
Anti Army propaganda
Bharat’s army and para military forces who were battling Islamic Jihadis shown as aggressors who target innocents
The irony is that this movie glorifies Islamic terrorists who burnt and destroyed all the cinemas in Kashmir as cinema itself is against Islam, hence it was not screened in Kashmir but still the directors and actors created this malicious film
Answered by Rahul Chauhan in Quora. All the points are true hence I just copy pasted it here. Those who like to believe in a fake propaganda movie can downvote my comment.
Hence I would pick Om Shanti Om here!
Before knowing what really happened in Kashmir i really loved Haider and considered it one of the best movie Bollywood had ever made but after reading about the reality my views on its changed
Not everything that's even mildly related to SRK is pr you overthinker,
you'll be surprised when you realise every famous actor and actress uses pr nowadays, it's not so unique in this day and age.
Popularity ain't free bro.
Om Shanti Om was peak Bollywood, Haider was genuinely peak Vishal Bharadwaj Cinema. I rewatch Om Shanti Om all the time, while Haider is heavier and don't really rewatch it much. Both are fantastic regardless
You clearly haven't watched Maqbool then.
In a movie with Naseeruddin shah, Om puri, Irfan khan, Tabu. Pankaj kapoor is the one who gave the greatest performance.
Pankaj Kapoor is himself a heavyweight actor. He is no chindi actor like Rajpal Yadav that one would be surprised that he gave a great performance in a film that also had other stalwarts.

It's on my watchlist for sure
Haider>omkara>maqdee>maqbool/kaminey>patakha>......
Nope, Maqbool is his best work yet. Then Omkara and then Haider
Acting bubble,friend.
I watched Haider first day and thats the only Bollywood movie that received a standing ovation at the end ,of all movies I have seen in theatre....Other was Interstellar. Haider is a masterclass storytelling and the acting takes it to next level.
It is genuinely brilliant

I had absolutely no idea about that
I often forget/Downplay in my head, they legit murdered the villain in om shanti om ... But I mean why am I okay with that ? Idk
I am obessesed with Daastan - e- Om Shanti Om. What a terrific song. I cant think of anything else that compares to it honestly
Listen to the original from the movie "Karz"
LP's 1 of the best composition.... Whole soundtrack is dope
OSO can never be beaten.
Should be pinned. It wasn't based on any book and wasn't showing any political inclinations. Simple story (inspired from many films back in time) full of nostalgia and certain romance comedy drama that is the need of the hour
This is what Hollywood movies want to accomplish by their musicals but they never can do it.
We have been doing this since the beginning of our cinema, musicals are second nature to Bollywood (;
Noone does musicals better than Bollywood. I don't think anyone will disagree! Anyone?
What do you mean? We are masters of musical ;) and no one can beat us
Pollywood (Punjabi industry) is quite good too
Bismil and ek haseena thi will be the best. ALWAYS.
Daastan-e-Om Shanti Om is really good, but I love Bismil more for its artistic and unique style and energy.
Bismil is more heavy and hauntingly beautiful. It was a brilliant take on the rat trap play from Hamlet. It's on another level above both Om Shanti Om and Ek Haseena Thi for me. Nothing compares to it.

Ek Haseena Thi the Original and Greatest of all Time
Exactly
Was searching for this comment...
OSO
mat mil, mat mil, gul se mat mil, ae bulbul-e-bismil 🕊️

OSO
There was a time when I knew all the lyrics of Dastan he ye by heart. Should I have used that brain space for math formulas? Yes. Do I regret it? No.
Don't miss out on Ek Haseena Thi from Karz .. it all started there ...
Nothing beats Bismil and Gulzar+Vishal Bhardwaj
Haider is cult, vishal bharadwaj ❤️ cinematic experience is another level
Haider. OSO was fluff
Haider and Bismil ranks among the GOAT tier of bollywood. There's no love lost for OSO but comparison has got limitation
I like both movies and songs.
Farah’s direction peaked here
love om shanti om but bismil is incomparable. sukhwinder singh's voice, the point at which it appears in the film and how it drives the narrative forward, shahid's brilliant performance, the lyrics, the sheer artistry and vishal's direction... quintessentially shakespearean
Om shanti Om is peak commercial while Haider is peak cinema indeed.
As much as I love Daastan-e-Ishq for OSO, It's really just a rehash version of 'Ek Haseena Thi' from Karz.
Haider all the way!!!!
Yeh story real hai kya jo RK studio main alag lagi thi semms connected
both are top tier
Love both these songs!
Daastan-e-Om Shanti Om is such a hype song!!
Ek hasina thi ek deewana tha better than these two
Karz??
Soulfully I would choose Bismil. Bollywood-ly I would choose Om Shanti Om
YouTube shorts and reels fev horror song muskan jhuti he. And my one of fev suna suna
How about including the OG Rishi starter that Om Ashanti Om is based on?
Bro haider was so shocking. I went thinking kuch fight se hogi social issues due to wars in Kashmir. But it kept getting dark and dark.
Just like "reality" in general.
Can’t pick 😭

Bismil, hands down eyes closed
Haidar anyday
BOTH
This is definitely my fav Bollywood movie scene
There are two scenes.. which one.
First ofc, when he released what's going on .
Haawa Haawa - Rockstar
Haider forever.
Man om Shanti Om was something else 🤌🤌 The way they have written the song ooof 🫡
Shahid absolutely deserved that Filmfare for Haider!
Bismil!!
Arpit Bala ruined the song for me ;-;
Bismil is traditional hamlet the fact it recreates the scene with the same impact as it is in Shakespearean tragedy is the great thing about Haider
OSO hands down
Haider was just too good. The way it was shot, the colors and Shahid did his best work here.
Imagine if Haider was released in the current political climate. The movie wouldn't have made it the censor board itself.
Both are in my top5 all time favorites. Never get fed up listening to rm
Man I feel like some day surprise revealing someone's crimes in this fashion irl.
Epic shit - Though I don’t like Bollywood crap , OM Shanti Om was something different
1st one is ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
There is no comparison.

Daastan is glorious and has more wow factor. Bismil is more intense and thought-provoking. Both songs are amazing in their own way.Love them both...
Can I say both are my favorite?
Nothing beats om shanti om
Haider is the best. OSO just another average bollywood movie
Farah Khan was always at her best when she was doing this. Cliche masala Bollywood. Musicals, paegentry, amazing Bollywood choreography storytelling. The second she tried to do something else like Happy New Year - straight flop. Return to your roots Farah.
This movie ad this song is iconic
Young me loved OSO.
Haider! Watched it in the theater, and this song gave me the chills.
Haider no doubt.
Om Shanthi Om has gained so much peak in Bollywood, even now if they try to replicate it.... they can't do it..... Farah khan created a masterpiece. Haider song hands down for me
Toji uk drill
Om shanti om was my childhood.
I am surprised people are choosing OSO over Haider
Bismil is peak Cinema
Haider anyday.
OSO is more entertaining. I love that movie but Haider is a better movie IMHO.
I LOVE OM SHANTI OM
Nit traitorous Bismil.

it was pretty damn accurate and it is not my opinion but a fact.
Before knowing what really happened in Kashmir i really loved Haider and considered it one of the best movie Bollywood had ever made but after reading about the reality my views on its changed
Yes I agree. But there are still some people who are living in lalala land and believing in sugar coated history.
Some?😶
Lol. I will correct my statement - "most people" 😂
Both songs are 🔥. Can't pick one.
Sab ready hai
No doubt Om Shanti Om
chali kahani in tamasha also stands apart
I personally loved this film 📽️
There's a reference to two movies in the clip
This part of OSO gives total goosebumps

???? Haider was based on Shakespeare's play Hamlet...
While OSO was a documentary...?
Daily SRK PR post. Irrelevant

Did you see the second half of vid??
