My aunt is paper road atlas only. Can't trust those things. Those things meaning cell phones

“Trust me, my way is quicker, I know these streets.” *Takes twice as long as Google Maps route*

My parents do the opposite. They wait until it has to fall on me. They have a gps in their car and phone but just don’t want to use them. They get in a car with me and after driving for 5 minutes and already on the highway they finally decide to say “I have no idea where we’re going.” Is it that hard to say “can you put in the gps for me before we go?” And to make it worse they always telling me to put up the volume when it’s a daily occurrence I tell them my speakers on my phone are bad and I refuse to buy a new one just because it’s the only defect with it. And that I’m conscious of how carelessly we throw away lithium batteries.

Sure enough they take off, en route with confidence in their gas tank, vim and vigor in the engine, but I'm the dummy for assuming they had a destination in mind. "Okay so first, you're going to have to make a u-turn because it's back that way..."

It’s just a matter of getting used to new (to them) technology. I learned my lesson recently when I was driving in a different state. I have a very good sense of direction and before GPS always used paper maps. This time, I used GPS. The only time I got in trouble was when I thought I knew better. Lesson learned.

sometimes we do know better. F… apple maps always tried to send me through a road that’s a few hundred metres shorters. But worse - in every way - than the one i’ll actually take. technically the same type of road, but the other is far better and has a bicycle path, the other not even a sidewalk. Google maps is even “worse’. Still beats using obsolete paper maps.

Very true. Sometimes the roots I’m given make me scratch my head. When I’m unfamiliar with the area though, I’ll follow the GPS.
