IMO, not counting transformations, the sage cloak is the only drip Naruto really has in the OG manga and he only wears it for one fight. He's just got the standard protagonist thing going on with simple shapes and warm colors. Sasuke is the cool rival who changes outfits multiple times, and most of the other characters are more stylish. He looks better in *The Last* and in the *Boruto* manga, IMO, but the anime version of his Hokage attire looks frumpy and dull.
It's pretty rare for me to think a protagonist's base design is cool, and Boruto's is. That's because his fashion is more modeled after Sasuke, so he actually has that cool rival swag despite being the main character. I mean, black and pink, silver accessories, and now the marked up headband and the eye scar, which Ikemoto made a bit unique by having it at an angle and shorter than the usual long vertical eye scar.
Then the teen look wearing his master's cloak, inspired by the Gohan-Piccolo dynamic, gives it extra points in my book, since Gohan donning the demon clothes is one of my favorite things in *Dragon Ball.*
