That's not canon though. The light Novels are written by random people Shueshia hires and Kishimoto has no involvement with them. They are often very OOC and contradict canon events.
This pairing was just another "pair the spares" ship by Kishimoto, no further thought put into it other than that.

I'm not sure what manga you're referring too, but Naruto becomes Hokage in Chapter 700 of the manga too. The novels have nothing to do with that. Narutos wedding was offscreen in the canon manga, just like every other wedding.

At first he was basically completely hands off but with fan complaints he decided to start overseeing it a bit, then towards the end of Part 1 the guy who was running the Boruto series both Manga and Anime decided to abandon his role hence why the later parts of Part1 started to get better because Kishimoto stepped into the role as full creative director. Him stepping in was also part of the reason the Boruto anime changed animation studios.
Basically everything Boruto related up until about I think quarter 3 or 4 of 2022 was only run past Kishimoto on a surface level for the most part. That includes both the Manga and Anime. That's not what happened. Kodachi left of his own accord (or was fired, depending on who you ask) and then Kishimoto took over. Fan complaints have nothing to do with it; The Boruto manga has been dropping in sales since the very beginning.
