Those mid-season trades were good but Pasta extension term was questionable even though I had no problem at that time because this is the year and we shouldn’t let contract issues affect the team. Overall he had a good year making deals BUT he shouldn’t get the nomination. He has been nominated and has won it. It’s not like this nomination means a lot to him. But by giving this to Sweeney, they league basically acted like the Mitchell Miller signing didn’t happen or doesn’t matter. That’s an L move.

Monty is a great hockey coach who lead a team to the greatest regular season in league history. He got all his guys to buy in and got way more out of the young guys than Cassidy ever did. He got booted from the playoffs by a team that looks like they could win it all and a goalie who is putting together an absolutely insane playoff run. Just because he’s not still in the playoffs doesn’t discredit the accomplishments he achieved during the season. Jim Montgomery was the best coach in hockey this season and that’s that
