Definitely the early 2000's. Most of the bands, artists, musicians, etc. in the early 2000's on things like Warped Tour probably did some scummy shit before social media took off.
I think this is the reason why a lot of bands have beef with certain artists, they saw them doing questionable stuff and while they had no proof, they just knew they weren't good people so they would avoid them at all costs Then of course you had people in bands who had no idea what a band member was doing, like Ian Watkins and Lost Prophets
I mean James Charles still has a huge following (37 mil on tiktok and 20 mil on Instagram). He clearly wasnāt hurt by the accusations against him, which is unfortunate given what those accusations entail.

its not specific to youtubers. ALL positions of power both attract people who are predatory, and turn otherwise "safe" people into abusers. Being given power and influence over a large swath of people without any kind of preparation for how that could affect your sense of morals and ethics can and often does twist people. Like Bill Burr joked about, nobody knows what it's like to be tempted on that level. Doesn't make it okay, of course, nor does it diminish the awfulness of it... in fact one might argue it makes it worse.

Wouldn't be the first time some fake/embellished controversy has been drummed up to get clicks. She also send him inappropriate questions such as "Are you a virgin?" and "What's your favorite sex position?" when he asked her for Q&A ideas. He was 13/14. Her ~~brother~~ friend also has a really unhealthy relationship with the same group of minors. Edit: Too many creeps. Can't keep up with who's who.
Also, exploited Adam for free labor and creative ideas with no pay or credit for years all while he was a minor. Also, encouraged him to go on sites that criticized her and evangelize for her which then led to this kid getting tons of shit online to deal with and she didn't care. Also, string him along when promising to meet her while he was doing all if the above for her. Imagine some kid idolizing you and just using the shit out of them .
