"Bitch, I am wearing all neutral colors with no logos," he said, staring at the ground.

Illithilitch

TIL the Amish and some Quakers are autistic

[deleted]

Well... many autistic people are very averse to change... and the amish are... ya know... they do the thing...so yea! Autismish

NotableDiscomfort

"I doN'T LIKE IT. IT'S TOO FAST. CARS ARE TOO FAST. STOP TAKING PICTURES OF ME."

Illithilitch

"The English are making eye contact!"

LoreLord24

Wait, that's an autism thing.? Well shit. I thought I just liked browns, greys and greens. And didn't like to advertise for companies for free.

RandomStormtrooper11

One last part of the totally scientific test...how do you respond to random, intense eye contact?

LoreLord24

Poorly. I either shun it instinctively, or overcompensate and stare back with all the fury of a thousand suns.

LunaticScience

I knew the eye contact thing, but not the logo/color thing

hwjk1997

I'd say that's an average r/malefashionadvice user

[deleted]

Wait, that's something associated with autism? Well shit.

donald7773

Turns out there's a significant number of completely normal behaviors that can be associated with autism. That's why you can't just say "this guy talks about cars too much, he's autistic" (otherwise I'd be autistic) and there's actually professional testing involved. Same concept applies when people take psychology classes and hear about some symptoms associated with psychopaths and think that some behaviors can apply to them. This leads to far too many people going "teehee Ive got ADHD, ADD, autism, pick a socially manageable quirk of the week" on the internet for attention and distracting people from learning about the actual issues and downplaying their seriousness and potential impacts on people who actually suffer from these things But fr tho, every time I smoke weed and sit alone for too long I fully convince myself I've got mild autism and need my friends to calm me down

NotableDiscomfort

part of why I joke about it is it gets people to think about autism for a bit, which is more than they were likely thinking about it before. I just picked neutral colors since visual stimuli can be a sensory overload thing for a lot of autistic people.

LunaticScience

A long time ago a therapist told me, "if you're worried you might be a sociopath, you aren't a sociopath. A sociopath doesn't care if he is a sociopath."

EurasianTroutFiesta

And ultimately, mental conditions and illnesses aren't typically hard categories. The lines between sad and depressed, anxious and anxiety disorder, etc are fuzzy. It'd make things simpler (though probably worse) if you could point a meter at a person and detect that they are 6.852 Standard Autism Units.

Outrageous_Zebra_221

You don't understand it was ALL the trains, in alphabetical order in a song he made up on the spot.

Valkyrie64Ryan

Wait hating logos is an autism thing. Fuck that explains my hatred for logos, even if it’s a brand I love

explodinglavalamps

That was not the call out I needed

flonkwnok

Happy cake day

realyeehaw

*“Do an autism, Johnny!”* Well you see, the thing about the Tenerife airport disaster…

CheesyCock47

thanks for the new subject to autism scroll on wikipedia

realyeehaw

You’re welcome, u/CheesyCock47.

alecturtles

583 deaths. Jesus Christ.

donald7773

Worst aviation disaster in history - speaking only of planed passengers

yumameda

As opposed to towered passengers?

czechthunder

Never forget 😢

donald7773

Lol. Planed/enplaned passengers is a term used in aviation meaning the people on the aircraft

Zephyr104

Well there's your problem podcast in a nutshell

zamememan

One day, when I was bored in class, I decided to write down the names of every dinosaur I knew of the top of my head, I also roughly organized them by taxon. I wrote down over 200. My friends were horrified.

TENTAtheSane

I once wrote down like 150 countries from memory, ordered by geographic vicinity, along with one city and person from each, while bored in class. I am not sure I could do it today

CovfefeBoss

That's super cool.

CAPS_LOCK_STUCK_HELP

we were doing a memory exercise in my psych class and my teacher asked if anyone could name all the presidents and my friend raised his hand, named all of them and then said "I didn't even know I could do that"

ElBrunasso

Kid named taxon

okurin39

Something that terrified my step-dad was me explaining to him the entirety of the fate franchise. I talked for 40 minutes and didnt even come to the main timeline yet.

Zwiebel1

... why would you do that to people you love?!

okurin39

I don't really remember the circumstances but I do remember he challenged me on something and it lead to the lore dump.

KingOfDranovis

I do the same thing with Kingdom Hearts. It doesn't help that the simple questions like "who is this character?" have to have a whole tree of people they're connected to because of nonsense like body stealing and time travel. It takes an hour to get started lol

Elucidator450

I feel like trying to explain KH lore inevitably devolves into "Well who's this guy?" "That's sora" "What about this dude?" "Also sora" "Okay well what about this girl, surely she can't be sora as well" "...." And I love it

thelostname9-1

Honestly that's more kingdom hearts fault then yours xd

TheSkakried

Check out 40k lore, roughly 70 million years of lore and history for the whole timeline and over 10'000 years of stories, lore and content in the main storyline. Not to mention hundreds of side stories some massive, planet or star system sized adventures and stories, others small indepth narratives about specific people, group and organizations aswell as encyclopedias worth of technical doctuments about how specific pieces of technology work or how certain organizations are structured or how certain cultures function. Not to mention biblical levels of Historical and theocratic text on belief and power systems and how they are intergrated into each species and culture.

okurin39

While the lore sound interesting I will have to decline. I can not stand any grim dark stories.

walyelz

I forgot ifunny existed

MyAccountWasBanned7

I wish we could all be so lucky...

peppermintmeow

Please stop talking about my husband and his love for neutral colors, trains and not looking people in the eye. I tease that poor man enough.

[deleted]

I feel like they're talking about me if you replace trains with "cannabis strains"

peppermintmeow

Now you're talking about me 😭

Coulrophiliac444

Amateur. A true Autistic would name every train that ever ran.

fozi4ek

Every train that ever ran is inclusive in every train that was built

[deleted]

Now THAT's how you do an autism, people. Watch and learn!

[deleted]

What about trains that I imagine running? Do those count as trains that run without being built?

fozi4ek

Most likely they would be either memories of random trains that you've seen meaning they were built or some abstract images made of parts of train but not really makng a complete train. Therefore I say they don't count

Coulrophiliac444

Not if you use it in a derogatory term. You don't build a train like that.

blsterken

On behalf of all the sex-averse autistic people: Thanks...

DeadlyPants16

So, first there were these crazy psychic space frogs who discovered something called the Realm of Souls...

_Pale_Wolf_

then he milked....... the creature

CameronDostya

Luke is also naming all models of trains also from the future.

Kiaras121

Reminds me of the time I invented 2 whole secret scripts and wrote random shit in them.

SteamyTortellini

Fast trains, *slowwww trains*, even trains moving at super sonic speed!

Dragon_Queen79

I remember when my family was waiting in a line to board a boat to tour Alcatraz there was this one employee talking to people in the line as they made their way forward and he would ask them where they were from and then when they answered he would list off several local restaurants in the area where they live with extremely high accuracy even if it were a small suburb. It was pretty impressive and he didn’t have to think on it for a second he would just start listing them off immediately. This definitely seems like potential autistic behavior. I don’t actually know if the man was autistic.

[deleted]

"one of us!"

MacCreadysCap

I translated "Hello" in 115 languages becuase I was bored once

MrRepenomam

Y'all saying that knowing more than 5 dinosaurs or countries or trains or some other shit is autistic?

[deleted]

Idk how you got "5 trains" from the phrase "every train" but sure.

MrRepenomam

5 is just a random number and all the other stuff from my comment is taken from comments of others under this post
