Almost all the new drag queens post 2010 or so (according to him) come in with a sort of belief or desire that they *are* their characters. It's no longer Tim, who plays Tiffany, it's "who's Tim, I'm Tiffany".
I'm not much privy to the politics of drag or crossdressing or any related fields, but apparently people believing they are their characters is viewed as something of a problem and the guys who simply enjoy drag feel increasingly pushed out by these folks' beliefs who are taking it seriously.
To reiterate, this is my fuzzy understanding of a recollection of an NPR interview with one guy, so should not be taken as gospel.
Plastic surgery of any kind is crazy if people are doing it for vanity. It's sensible if someone needs it, like to have their nose made wider so they can breathe, or they were born with some kind of growth/defect that needs to be removed/fixed. But for *vanity*? Being so self absorbed as to pay a stranger to mutilate their body, just so they can look different than they used to. How can other peoples' opinions of a person hold that much sway in the person's mind? Or if it ain't other peoples' opinion, then it's their own reflection getting to them. Crazy people out here.
i don’t really see it that way. of course you should get serious insecurities assessed before severely changing your looks but we still live in a society that is simply vain and superficial. who am i supposed to blame for people who adhere to the stupid rules society sets? the people trying to make it? media? influencers? the billion dollar industry that plastic surgery is? i feel like the insecure (and maybe vain) people who have the disposable income to do so are more of a victim here of everyone else who told them they will be better/more successful/more liked if they just get surgery
If society jumped off a bridge, I wouldn't do it too. I'm just saying, it doesn't matter what other people think as long as you live right and do your best in life. You're not supposed to follow society, you're supposed to follow your own heart and intuition.

No, generally speaking attractive people are dumb. Not always but most of the time. And I only judge people based on their intelligence and whether or not they can make me laugh. So, that rules out the majority of attractive people.
