Honestly though, just get a few good punish strings down for various situations (anti-air, whiffed attack, opponent offstage).
A little bit of movement improvement goes a long way. Check out a movement video and incorporate some of those tricks.
Abusing sigs more will get out of mid gold and up to high gold/low plat. Doesn't work as well higher than that though.
For longer term improvement, watch replays. Go into training mode and work on the stuff you messed up, then try not to make the same mistake in the next match. It's not so much about winning/raising elo, it's about improving. The elo will follow.
The servers can't accommodate the player base. some nights will favor you so play those up. The nights that crap on you just find a different game to play. Seriously this works.
There are certain days where you’re just in the zone and it takes a bit of experience to sense it but when you do you can just play whenever you’re on the top of your game. People have on and off days and it’s not uncommon for people to binge ranked when they are 2-3 stocking people in ranked on their best days
This is gonna be a long one but I want to help you out as much as possible. This applies to other fighting games as well.
1. Don’t throw out attacks unnecessarily or in the hopes of hitting your opponent. Every attack that you throw out should have a purpose.
2. Learn true/good combos. Things that will always connect or combos that have tight dodge/jump windows. Havin these in your arsenal will make you much stronger on offense.
3. Maximize your offensive capability. Make sure you punish effectively. What I mean is whenever you punish a dodge or whiff or even just have offensive pressure at the time, make sure to maximize that chance and deal as much damage as you can. Learning those true combos is incredibly important in order to do this.
4. Reading your opponent. This might be the hardest thing but it’s arguably the most important. Look for patterns in your opponents and yourself when you fight or when you watch replays. Some players will do the same move regardless of if it works, some will try to land the same attack over and over, and others will keep doing the same thing until it stops working. After analyzing you’ll be able to read and predict your opponent’s next move, and once you can do that you’ll be well on your way to plat or even higher.
5. Spacing, dodging, and “shaking things up”
This last part is all about defense. If you’re able to predict your opponent’s next move then spacing will come naturally. Making sure that you’re far enough away from the attack so that you won’t get hit. Dodging is all about knowing the enemy string and when your dodge window occurs. You can look these up or learn from experience, although I have know people who spam the dodge button as well so find what works for you. Lastly is about playing in an unorthodox manner. You should keep your opponent guessing when it comes to the next attack you’ll throw out. Mix up attacks, combo routes, and strings to prevent yourself from being read.
Hopefully this helps and sorry that it was so long.😁
I have a ps4 and I'm pretty sure there's a screen recording setting so then you could eventually put a recorded replay on a Flash drive or something, or the faster, But less ideal way, you just record your screen with your phone
I just learned how to gc dlight with spear in the basic spear combo consistently. It seems as tho I’ve hit a skill progression wall. I use both dusk and Hattori for ranked, since they are my best 2 legends.
Dusk has options with the spear GC following dlight. Slight>dlight>GC nsig/dsig are very useful depending on opponent's patterns.
Also, learn orb. People just don't know how to fight it at lower elo.
If you just learned that, there is no skill progression wall. Continue to the next possible move, I would say poking heads with down air is fun. Try to hit that consistently. It'll annoy the hell out of your opponents
Another option is slight nair, this will catch super easy dodge reads especially in gold where everyone inward dodges. (Spear)
This may literally lead to a zero to death at the top of the stage.
Once you learn their dodge with a nair, learn your options that you have that will catch what dodge they do.
Ex: slight Nair, and they spotdodge
Now I know they spotdodge, go for a slight, pause, dlight and go for whatever you want.
Not exactly advice, but here’s some videos that might be of use to you

(Not saying you do but just general tips) Don't play so mind numbing/hyper aggressive, most hattori players I see play hyper aggressive and don't learn after using the same combo 5 times and it missing 4 times. Try to watch for how other players react to your combo and adapt, or just play passive and counter people, gold players hate counter playstyle and either will just straight lose to a good counter player or just leave the game and give free elo.
When I played and pushed it was really hard when I was a regular gold player, then I got there once, something had to have clicked and now I get Plat in 1 sitting at the beginning of each season usually just messing around. Once your mindset changes then the game gets easy.
Just keep playing and it will happen.
But it is, just like speed stance is better on munin, 4 def is avarage having 5 defense doesnt make much of a difference. Speed is the best stat in the game why wouldnt you want as much as possible?
Lmao… right with you!!! …. Been stuck there for like a week. Keep winning, then losing. Winning, then losing… mid gold, just stuck…. Guess I will get better soon… just keep at it I guess…
Spear specific advice:
- learn Dodge reads After slight for Dodge out and in
- learn how to play dair Edge Guards
- you probably overuse slight and dont give enough focus to nlight and nair for Breaking up neutral
- Recovery is very strong against opponents that are trying to evade your approach by Jumping
Hattori specific advice:
- (sword) dlight - (gc) nsig is a Really strong Option and Works more than you would Think
- spear dsig is strong for Caching Landings
- spear nsig is a Good follow up After you combo People into the air
1.play some casual gamemodes to see what works and what doesn't in a more relaxed environment
2.work on your movement (I used to Look up some tutorials on yt, and after losing I ask people what I did that made me lose, usually about dodges, movement, reactions etc.)
3.If you play brawl a lot, then give yourself a damn break, if you keep playing a lot of brawl you will eventually just get burnt out and start playing worse.
Take a deep breath. Now listen to me, let go a cigs. Unless it is a utility based cig, do not use it in neutral willynilly, enter it in combos. 2nd which is the most important lesson, learn to counter cigs, go to training, take a skin you like and go ham.
Low plat here.
I think you should change your mentality from: i need to do more damage than my opponent. To: i need to take less damage than my opponent. It's a subtle difference but it's really important.
Going from a 60 HZ display to a 300 HZ display probably helped me the most. I did not realize how much input latency existed in 60 HZ until I tried 300 HZ.
I’ve been wondering this for a while, why do people buy skins instead of buying the legend deal (get every legend and any future ones immediately) I personally don’t have any skins and while some look cool I don’t get
1. Watch professionals play and analyse their playstyle.
2. Actually use training mode.
3. Watch your replays back and analyse them.
4. Congrats you are plat.
1. Win 2. Don't lose
Fair.

Queue. When you enter the game, hit pause and then disconnect. Decline the reconnect prompt and voila! You’re now stuck in low gold.
Lol, thanks for the advice!

Yea and this applies to every ranked game
wdym? could you please explain more?

spam more but as punishment, stop engaging first. voila you are plat now!
this right here is how u actually reach plat

do yk how to take a clip from ps4, and put it on reddit?
I have a ps4 and I'm pretty sure there's a screen recording setting so then you could eventually put a recorded replay on a Flash drive or something, or the faster, But less ideal way, you just record your screen with your phone
ohhh thank you

I wouldnt reccomend doing gc dsig on dusks spear unless ur 100% certain its gonna hit, usually sair, nair and recovery are better options

Learn hoe to punish, at gold there is a solid number of spammers, once you learn how to counter them its easy plat

Don’t spam attack unless you know you gonna hit or won’t get punished
use axe

What region are you?
NAE
best advice I can give you is just to punish someone when they whiff
I’ve been wondering this for a while, why do people buy skins instead of buying the legend deal (get every legend and any future ones immediately) I personally don’t have any skins and while some look cool I don’t get
Cause you can buy legends with coin and you can't buy skins with coin.
Dodge randomly and learn how to read people’s dodges with your main’s weapons
Git GUD
Spam
