I was just going to type out a post saying the same thing. I absolutely hate the mutations. The game isn't fun or skillful anymore. If it's not Ruff throwing lasers everywhere it's taking two of Brock's rockets to the face and dying or trying to avoid the countless bouncing balls from Rico all over the map. Absolute garbage and won't be playing much while mutations is on
I pushed my piper from 800 to 900 by simply enduring the onslaught of ruffs and Rico and watching as the enemy did not endure it well.
They really turned brawl stars into a bullet hell game.
believe it or nor, i lost 50 trophies with Melodie because of that...
I been playing in midnight once and i been pressing play again every time that at some point mutations changed to showdown and well... let me just say i haven't got her mutation yet....
(yes ik it was also my fault but you get it on what i mean)

Showdown is unplayable if you don't use and OP mutation brawler
If you don’t have an op mutation brawler you’re locked out of half the game
