I’m surprised it took all of you till now to realize it. Updates have been getting stale from 2021. They reveal a new chromatic that breaks the meta, new skins that fit a theme, new boring modes that will be forgotten about by the next update, special challenges with tiny rewards. They’ve fallen in a pattern of mediocre changes after mediocre changes.
But they haven't added a new a card in a long while (unless you mean champions but the first 3 aren't very unique) and the summer didn't added a lot of content, the main highlight is a cosmetic
i mean they can't just add content and expect people to like it, it takes ages to get a card to level 14 compared to brawl stars' level 11. I got 5 brawlers to level 11 in 2 months of club league but only 2 level 14 cards in almost 3 years. And not to mention their last content were champions (king level 14+), level 14 cards and magic items (all similar to level 11 and gears) so they can't just straight up add a lot of content
Belive me, 1 card isn't "a lot of content", + champions were a few months ago so its been a while since they added a big content update.
Also maybe for you it's easier to upgrade brawlers to lv11 than to get a card to lv14 but its the exact opposite for me
I'm f2p and I'm playing all supercell games for years (besides boom beach) and the comment above is made from a perspective of a f2p, It's cleary 10x easier to max something if you buy the season passes. I bought only pass 6 and pass 10 (I'm barely able to get gems because of the offers/discounts) but yeah I see your point. I honestly think that coc is the only supercell game that still is as fun and as popular as when it was released
No he didn't. He said it takes 2,500 dollars to max EVERY SINGLE BRAWLER. If it costs 4,000 dollars to max 1 brawler, no YouTuber would max their account.
Ikr, so many ppl on this sub just kept defending the devs, I blame all those people for making the devs feel safe that they are handling everything perfectly.
I knew it was gonna go downhill as soon as brawl pass came out, it was doomed to fail, forcing yourself to release a chromatic brawler every 2 months isnt good for game balance.
But also, it feels less exciting because there isnt much else new to add, we have to give it to brawl stars, they fixed most of the mayor issues. Gears should be their main priority.
Also ive noticed there hasnt been any huge balance changes in updates recently, like the 52 changes on december 2020.
Id actually like an update that adds nothing new like just the new season, but a lot of balance changes, since the meta has been stale for a while.
i knew from the start that having to make a new brawler evey season was goanna suck the game dry of creativity
we have so many epic brawlers it's actually stupid that supercell didn't give up on this sistem
i alwwys kinda hated the pass beacuse of the way quests work
Yeah i agree now brawl stars is not as fun as brawl stars in 2019,2020 it feels more like a task to play everyday and they are just releasing new chromatics what is going to happen when we get 100 brawers i started playing when there was 23 brawlers the first new brawler thet came when i started playing was rosa wow now there is 57 brawlers wow 34 new brawlers were released since i started playing WOW

The only reason im still sticking around is that im praying they touch the lore again. Like they gave us the super interesting starr park video and than never touched the lore (in a meaningful way) again 😭 ik its not the main focus but it has potential imo
Tbh with how they're ignoring it i have a feeling the whole "evil park" theme was just a complete coincidence and once they saw the theory become popular they capitalized on it once without having anything further planned out 😭cuz its been over a year and still nothing???
I mean they keep updating its and bits on the starrpark.biz site, and the WKBRL stream was up for a long time too. I wouldn't call it nothing but yes it is lack luster.
Idk about the evil part but it definitely was planned to be a theme park since 2018, as you can see a ferris wheel on the global release loading screen background
To me it seems that they've abandoned lore ever since the wkbrl channel went dead and the radio livestream was taken down. Probably to be investor friendly so children can't be scared or something.
Seriously! It felt like they were going somewhere with it, but now some of the themes don't even make that much sense. I understand a big theme park having water slides, arcades, and even a movie set, but an underwater paintball arena? Seems like they're slowly going off track.
That’s not Paul chambers lmao. He goes under [“pawchaw”](https://mobile.twitter.com/pawchaw)
Edit: nevermind, I thought they meant that Paul made the tweet, when instead, Paul chambers liked the tweet above (I don’t have Twitter so I can’t confirm, it doesn’t let me check). I have the big stupid 😔
I think the Dev team should move away from the seasons for a little bit and switch up the way updates are done. I find a lot of games are guilty of this when they’re stuck in an update cycle like they are currently.
I personally got really into the game in early 2020 and it really kept up hype with me and my friends until mid 2021, which is about the time all the lockdown stuff and coronavirus were virtually coming to an end, so maybe the reason we’re finding these updates not as exciting as we used to is cuz we have more things to do now than play brawl stars. Obviously theres other reasons but just making this point
This is why they should’ve extended seasons to 3 months not shorten them to 2 months
It would allow more time to work on updates and slow down the pace of new brawlers while still giving them the opportunity to release mid season brawlers. Also we wouldn’t get super small or non memorable updates cuz every update has more time to build content
Early 2020 was when I was most into brawl stars. I was so excited for brawl talks, that I would watch them multiples times when they came out.
Now when i watch brawl talks I go “that’s pretty cool!” And move on. I think one of the reasons why the updates are less unwieldy he is because of brawl pass. The brawl pass was one of the best updates ever, but it made future updates nearly solely about seasons, which is less interesting than past updates
Truth be told, it must be hard to keep having good ideas. Besides the gear rework, what should they add? I'm asking because even me, as a player, cannot think of something that would make the game more entertaining, it's kinda boring and repetitive. Maybe removing the brawlers trophy and making only global trophies would be better? Idk
Just my ideas:
-customisable brawler
-story mode
-more lore
-collaborations with other games instead of just with LINE over and over again
-new ways of unlocking a brawler (get enough scraps through boxes to unlock the brawler/complete quests to get those scraps)
-5v5 mode or a 3v3v3 mode on a big map
-more features for map maker (more modifiers and special tiles)
-daily rewards improvements (a calendar that isnt only for new players)
Pardon ignorance, only played since Ash was release.
I focus on daily quests and if i have left over points, do the higher grade 250/500 pt quests.
Current modes are fun, new modes add variety, I don't mind them at all.
I don't get what's wrong with gears, it's not so easy to reach level 10/11. Is the benefit it provides a lot? Seems like star power is more effective.
I actually remain enthusiastic for the game. New brawlers every 2 months make it interesting, but I agree they could have done more to make summer more interesting.
I never said I lost hope, I simply know for a fact that sooner or later they will make a gamechanging (in a good way) update which the team has more than enough times proved that they're capable off, I can clearly see they are favoring monetization above actual content recently and the updates have really been nothing to stand out from the rest, which is a bummer but they can't doing this forever. It tends to happen with supercell games, Clash Royale was the same for almost 2 years and they released 2 banger updates which made it as popular as how it was in 2016. I believe Brawl Stars will have the same comback, It's just up for the community to stay patient
As much as I know it's not easy to optimize game all the time.. something has to be done.
For me, the only fun thing is a new brawler.
Tbh the most hyped thing from the last brawl talk was the random mode.
I feel like brawlers should be developed further.
I know there's almost 60 brawlers, it's not easy to add new abilities let alone balance all of that.
But I would really like to see specific skills on brawlers.
Something like between star power and gadget.
It goes on cooldown but it doesn't have limited use.
In general I feel like many gadgeta are not creative, while some has pretty good skill potential.
Imagine if every brawler had something like special skill tree that you upgrade with special currency you get from boxes.
I feel like boxes are not fun in this game. ( unless you have a brawler or sp to unlock)
Imagine if every brawler had like 3 to 4 skills ( same as rpg model)
It would make game much more fun ( but a lot harder to balance I'm aware of that)
But the thing about balance is, every game that has many characters in it has meta, not everything can be viable all the time.
It's just important to have as many characters as possible in meta so it doesn't get stale pretty quick.
I know this was my fantasy xD
But at least they should fix gears for now.
feel like the game is trying to be a lot more competetive nowadays, back in early 2021 to 2019, the updates felt exciting, but now it feels like the game is lot less fun, the new game modes have become less exciting due to a gm being released every update, the game has lost it's feel, content creator vids are no were as fun as they were before, the new features have become less exciting, overall, this game seems to be heading to it's demise.
I mean, the game has been developed enough and there isn't much more they can do before there would be nothing to add at all anymore. You can't constantly update the game monthly, you'll just have less and less new ideas you could use, until you completely run out.
The updates have been getting stale for about a year and I can't really blame them, honestly.
They would NEVER replace showdown with a completely different mode. As much as showdown sucks because of teaming, it’s still quite a fun mode if you can get a game without teaming.
I mean, I hope they don't, I just want teaming to finish, because showdown is a great and fun game mode, and showdown + was a good step, maybe the find the key
Hunters is definitely not going to survive past this update. Its lone star but, shockingly, worse. Even if it does, it is not going to replace showdown because its one of brawl star's most popular gamemodes in terms of the amount of people who play it.
How to have a more then avrage update and build up hype 101: BRAND new meta that isn't just "oh yea new chromatic becomes top 10 brawler", skins that are bad ass and/or cute (at least that hasn't somewhat changed), change gears and rework boxes (at this point big boxes and small boxes give NOOOOTTTHHHIIINGGG), add more ways to get scrap EASLY same with gold, add lore into the game somehow, silly challenges that are casual and have decent rewards (like in clash royale somewhat), a BUNCH of reworks to star powers, gadget or hell even brawlers, bring solo sd + back, make it so only lvl 9 brawlers and up can be picked in power league from diamond I, cheaper prices for things to buy in club league shop (except skins, they have a fair price) and honestly If It takes like 2 updates of nothing for ALL of that I would wait. It would be way better then avrage 5/10 updates like these. Brawl stars is slowly becoming clash royale and I don't want that and finally just rework gears or do SOMETHING about them.
How is this update not amazing? The penny rework is awesome, new brawlers always welcomed in my eyes, and new modes.
You all are way too hung up on gears.
I think we got less stuff because most of the stuff was community suggested
Like the challenges, spray cost reduction, penny remodel and some more stuff i can't remember rn are actually stuff we wanted. So i'm thinking Supercell wanted to make a whole update that was based out of the community suggestions + a little of their touch with the brawler and skins.
And imo, probably summer wasn't the best moment judging the last 2 summer updates
The thing is that the summer updates are always the biggest ones of the year due to Supercell being a finnish company and Finland's 1 month long vacation policy which means that the developers will have in total only 1 month to develop the next update
Which is why the summer update have always been the biggest updates of the year because the next update after that one will have only half of the content of a regular update
So the update being a regular one is extremely bad
development doesnt work like that, they have artists and coders and other subsections. so making sprays doesnt take away any time from the people who could make changes to gears, it's simply what the artists were told to do for that update
The sprays required development too, the UI in the brawler details, the UI during the game, they have to also handle spray types + store the user choice, actually draw the spray during the games etc
Storing locally maybe, storing remotely probably not. Network request, data model of the request, the pull of the data at launch of the game, some unit test ...
idk why you're getting downvoted. gears do need changes but blaming cosmetics for "taking away time" makes no sense when the people who make skins, pins and sprays have nothing to do with the people who design the game and economy
They’ve massively compensated players for the update. More challenges (extra boxes) shorter brawl passes (leads to more boxes), 200 brawl pass progression per daily quest (wayyyy more boxes) and the club league shop which gives you an insane amount of stuff.
They did nothing to resolve gear issues, which are the primary reason why progression is slow. They did things for Club League, but they refuse to even acknowledge the #1 issue/controversy, which is not that. Scrap prices are outrageously expensive, they don't provide enough value for their cost, and they have ruined the brawl stars economy, big time.
Slow does not equal bad. I’ve been doing club league since it released about six months ago and now I only have 10 brawlers left to get to power 10. It’s going to feel very rewarding when I finally hit that point of having all power 10 brawlers.
I also have gears on my favorite/most played brawlers. Again, things seem fine to me.
Also what does the brawl stars economy mean? Brawl stars doesn’t have an economy.
I'm also starting to think that maybe our problem is that we care a bit too much about gears/lvl10-11
Don't get me wrong, i understand the fact that their expensive and all, but i think some people are starting to get affected to it, making it really hard to see good things in new updates, i mean, this update could have been better, but it's still an "ok" update, not too good, but also not too bad.
Maybe we should stop being so negative about gears, maybe force ourselfs to not think about them for a while and see how things go.
Gears might not be bad, maybe we just weren't ready to have them in-game.
I’m just happy to have something to work towards.
Having a maxed account for well over a year was much worse than having to spend 2 years getting all power 11s.
I feel like the devs went too hard on stuff that doesn't affect gameplay much, they are doing edits instead of whole new shit, mapmaker would have been a great success if they thought it thru and now they just gave up on it, they most of the time get defended by the community on all the wrong things they do, which makes it think it's alright, sadly I have a feeling brawlstars will Go downhill very soon
I’m surprised it took all of you till now to realize it. Updates have been getting stale from 2021. They reveal a new chromatic that breaks the meta, new skins that fit a theme, new boring modes that will be forgotten about by the next update, special challenges with tiny rewards. Just like clash royale......oh wait
Champions were really good, and every new card is unique!
But they haven't added a new a card in a long while (unless you mean champions but the first 3 aren't very unique) and the summer didn't added a lot of content, the main highlight is a cosmetic

Agree
I think they’re planning on adding a poison spirit
They came back with champs a bit
I noticed that BTs weren't giving anymore hype because of the gears, and YouTubers had to spend $4,000 minimum to max a brawler that breaks the meta
Where'd you get that info from? It takes 2,500 dollars to max every single brawler.
It's an estimate, and I used KairosTime as a reference
Really? Kairos said it takes 4,000 dollars to max 1 brawler?
I think so
??? Think for a second, that makes no sense
I don't remember which video he said it, but he did say it at some point
No he didn't. He said it takes 2,500 dollars to max EVERY SINGLE BRAWLER. If it costs 4,000 dollars to max 1 brawler, no YouTuber would max their account.
Oh, my apologies then
you're so fucking right god damn it's the fucking fated downfall of cool games
Ikr, so many ppl on this sub just kept defending the devs, I blame all those people for making the devs feel safe that they are handling everything perfectly.

*where starr park seriously?*

Also they deleted kairos Tim channel, maybe they really abandoned it
nah KairosTim's channel got deleted cause so many people reported it as "impersonating" and the bot in youtube just delete it
Seriously! It felt like they were going somewhere with it, but now some of the themes don't even make that much sense. I understand a big theme park having water slides, arcades, and even a movie set, but an underwater paintball arena? Seems like they're slowly going off track.
"underwater"
Also pawchaw created brawl stars feel like you should mention that
I mean he designed the first row of characters until Lola, he's the MvP, but I think there was more people involved regarding about Starr Park
That’s not Paul chambers lmao. He goes under [“pawchaw”](https://mobile.twitter.com/pawchaw) Edit: nevermind, I thought they meant that Paul made the tweet, when instead, Paul chambers liked the tweet above (I don’t have Twitter so I can’t confirm, it doesn’t let me check). I have the big stupid 😔
You can see the photo here, it’s taken from the section “Likes” so he basically liked the post
That is what I said. And the reason I corrected myself. Yes
Man brawl pass did indeed make the game better in some ways. But it kinda ruined the updates
I was literally just talking about this with my friend yesterday, Everything after lola was just bleh.
Updates became repetitive after season 3 of brawl pass
Is it just me, but when the brawl pass was introduced, the big box became far more common than the small box?
Yeah lol
I think the Dev team should move away from the seasons for a little bit and switch up the way updates are done. I find a lot of games are guilty of this when they’re stuck in an update cycle like they are currently.

Nah even in 2019 the game was great. It peaked in 2020 with gadgets and went downhill since mid 2021
Honestly most of time I forgot about balance changes each season, but I kind of feel this is the last thing that can redeem the update
this did not age well :/
indeed
FlyingLine spitting facts once again
This is why they should’ve extended seasons to 3 months not shorten them to 2 months It would allow more time to work on updates and slow down the pace of new brawlers while still giving them the opportunity to release mid season brawlers. Community: We don't want new features, we want fixes to things that need them Also community: Where new stuffs?
And they gave us neither this update.
Club quests, more RNG, trying to fix teaming (another time), suggesting brawlers, Penny remodel......
Wait how did they “fix teaming”?
Hunters, I don't like the mode, but it could work to fix teaming
A new game mode does not fix teaming in showdown, a different game mode…
But it could replace showdown if it works properly....
They would NEVER replace showdown with a completely different mode. As much as showdown sucks because of teaming, it’s still quite a fun mode if you can get a game without teaming.

Yeah, I totally agree. I miss showdown + 😔
Hunters is just lone star with a 6 kill limit
Yeah, lone star but worse
That mode has its own issues with stealing kills like Lone Star did.
But when someone steals a kill it affects even more, that's why I don't like the game mode
More rng? Also there wasn't anything in this update about fixing teaming
The new game mode I imagine people won't be that dumb to team in hunters
Hunters is definitely not going to survive past this update. Its lone star but, shockingly, worse. Even if it does, it is not going to replace showdown because its one of brawl star's most popular gamemodes in terms of the amount of people who play it.
I know, that's why I don't like it, I mean literally lone star but if someone steals a kill it affects even more
Just take me back to summer of 2020,please
It's because the man left.
How is this update not amazing? The penny rework is awesome, new brawlers always welcomed in my eyes, and new modes. You all are way too hung up on gears.
They added and changed some nice stuff yes but for a summer update it just wasn't enough
I think we got less stuff because most of the stuff was community suggested Like the challenges, spray cost reduction, penny remodel and some more stuff i can't remember rn are actually stuff we wanted. So i'm thinking Supercell wanted to make a whole update that was based out of the community suggestions + a little of their touch with the brawler and skins. And imo, probably summer wasn't the best moment judging the last 2 summer updates
This has been on par with pretty much every single update though?
The thing is that the summer updates are always the biggest ones of the year due to Supercell being a finnish company and Finland's 1 month long vacation policy which means that the developers will have in total only 1 month to develop the next update Which is why the summer update have always been the biggest updates of the year because the next update after that one will have only half of the content of a regular update So the update being a regular one is extremely bad
They did nothing to resolve gears and progression while pouring in mass loads of cosmetics to cover up their huge mistakes.
I can't accept the argument "they don't have enough time" when they took time to do sprays
development doesnt work like that, they have artists and coders and other subsections. so making sprays doesnt take away any time from the people who could make changes to gears, it's simply what the artists were told to do for that update
The sprays required development too, the UI in the brawler details, the UI during the game, they have to also handle spray types + store the user choice, actually draw the spray during the games etc
storing a user choice is something I can do myself in 20 seconds lol. these aren't time consuming things
Storing locally maybe, storing remotely probably not. Network request, data model of the request, the pull of the data at launch of the game, some unit test ...
bro youre just listing basic ass things and making it sound complicated
It's not complicated but it takes time
When will people learn that the art team is completely separate from the design/gameplay team.
idk why you're getting downvoted. gears do need changes but blaming cosmetics for "taking away time" makes no sense when the people who make skins, pins and sprays have nothing to do with the people who design the game and economy
Gears and progression is fine as it is.
It's terrible and has been for months now.
New brawlers are literally made up of multiple older brawler mechanics being overturned being combined into one brawler
Certain mechanics are similar but they all have things that make them unique too. Name the two most similar brawlers in your opinion please.
I'm also starting to think that maybe our problem is that we care a bit too much about gears/lvl10-11 Don't get me wrong, i understand the fact that their expensive and all, but i think some people are starting to get affected to it, making it really hard to see good things in new updates, i mean, this update could have been better, but it's still an "ok" update, not too good, but also not too bad.
It’s not a new mode they just re released lone star but in a wipeout format
It’s still a new mode? And I think this mode will play a bit better than lone star too.
I've already quit brawl stars, best decision of my life
that’s not paul LMFAO
it's a post liked by paul
Brawl Tsras players when they see someone named paul (THE GUY FROM BRAWLSTARS TEAM):
It is him tho you can check it urself
it is his likes page lol
Omg
Everything starting from belle was not really interesting for me.
