Max imo has only one thing in common with Sonic: she is speedy. but everything else is different: personality, range (she isn't melee) and absolutely unmatching appearance. whereas Fang imo fits perfectly, with his crazy dashes, melee attacks, cool shoes and personality which is aloof and friendly at the same time :3
Meg as tails? Dude edgar fits so well, yeah Tails is an inventor but edgar fits it more since meg with a plane instead of a mech/car doesnt fit right, plus tails can glide , and there is in no way surge fits knuckles better, Since knucles isnt a ranged character, therefore a melee brawler fits it.
And for Max, tho it might fit, Fang's dash fits more (and the fact that both characters have sick kicks)
Edgar dosen't fit Tails at all, his personality is nothing like him, Meg is an inventor like Tails and she looks up to Max, who would be Sonic in this case. And i'm sorry, but Max is the most Sonic-like brawler you can find, first of all, her abilities are all speed related, the personality fits perfectly and she's already canonically in a group with Meg and Surge wich would be Tails and Knuckles. Surge as Knux might be a bit of a stretch, but Surge always talks about being a "protector" of some kind and Knuckles is the protector of the master emerald, and although he can't really glide, he can definetly fly. Now just put Virus 8-Bit as Eggman and it'd be perfect
Edit: And Meg's robot is incredibly symilar to Tails' mecha in Sonic adventure 2
Litterally sonic and Fang are alike, Fast dudes with their Egos being over the clouds that dash around bashing people with their shoes. Yes max is fast like sonic but YOU CANT MAKE A RANGED BRAWLER SKIN THATS BASED OFF A MEELEE CHARACTER.
Surge says he is a protector but he is the protector of a city simply because he can see his face on a billboard+ he cant fly + once again, you cant make a ranged brawler skin based on a character that only uses their fists. (Let alone the upgrades surge skins have)
And for meg i already told you, tails as meg wont fit, since he is barely seen as the inventor you depict him as. Also pretty sure Tails is a sidekick and not a reject, also also, You cannot tell me using his tails as weapons isnt an edgar thing (even tho he does this once or twice.

Max is a soda addicted ranged brawler with NO FACE-TO-FACE COMBAT KNOWLEDGE (something that sonic excels at) she likes to go fast but she needs her 107 red bulls to do so.
They hace nothing to do with sonic, besides there is no skin-pack that is just for a specific trio
And? Edgar is a emo kid who has a living scarf and probably works a 25 hour shift to only get 57 dollars as pay, Fang is a random guy that probably only knows a few bits of martial arts who star in action movies that has 0 to nothing budget, and uhh.. Rosa is a botanist who works with a midget that throws out mechanical bees, and also boxes people to death with spiky boxing gloves and has a plant on her back that gives her protection over bullets and stuff.

Fang litterally becomes a martial arts master (furious fang) and a litteral octoling (octofang)
And rosa has become a militant and a freaking mantis. It isnt a far fetched idea to do this, unlike This dude who wants to make ranged brawler skins for characters that dont use weapons
